LaserJet 2200d on Win 7 Print quality

I just installed a new HP oem toner cartridge and it look like I have dark gray/black lines and smudges.  It look sorta like I took a semi dry painter roller to the page.  I ran the HP cleaner utility but no help there.  Any suggestions?

Try to print a test page or printer status report and see if you get same results.

  • LaserJet Pro 500 color printing quality

    Hi,
Last May, I bought the HP LJ Pro 500 MFP 570n printer and since then I have PQ problem.  When printed, the documents are not as what is on the screen:  B&W pictures are green and white; colour pictures are bland and too dark.
There is no problem when scanning.
HP provided me with Level 1 Maintenance, meaning changing yellow cartridge, changing the HV power supply, and changing the Transfer Belt.  Driver has been updated and color calibrated.
According to Level 2 Maintenance Management, located in Bangalore, India, there is no such PQ issue.

Color calibration may not be the only way to achieve color match output with a printer (irrespective of drivers or operating system).
To actually achieve WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) (i.e very close color match) you might need to use an additional software/hardware to perform color calibration between the different devices which are involved in creating, editing & printing the particular image or document (like scanner, camera, printer, monitor etc.)
If you are looking for nearest color match using the product's inbuilt options, then you may print & use RGB & CMYK Samples (use the information menu from device control panel for printing these samples).
Use the color mix as given in the samples while editing your documents/images.  Also try to  use the other advanced color match options available using the printer driver properties.

  • HP LaserJet 1018 .pdf print quality

When I print a .pdf, the print quality is very poor with a faint print density and imprecise edges.
    I am running Windows 7 32-bit.
    Anyone else have this issue?
Other print requests (.docx, .xlsx, etc.) are better, but not up to the same standard as when I ran XP.

Hello dpop75, and welcome to the HP Forums.
I am sorry, but to get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial product. You can do this at the LaserJet Commercial Forums.

  • HP LASERJET 2200d - Optional TRAY 3 is grayed out in the print box - 10.2.8

I just added the optional 3rd tray to the bottom of my LASERJET 2200d. I did a print test directly from the printer and it printed a copy from that tray without a problem. But when I try to print from an application, tray 3 cannot be selected in the print box and is grayed out. Anyone?

Have you gone into Printer Center/Printer Setup Utility, click on your printer and click on the Utility button? Sometimes that has extra features that you can turn on. Maybe you need to tell the software side that the tray has been added to the printer.

  • Print quality color laserjet 2600n

The company I work for has a Color LaserJet 2600n.  We continually run into a problem with the print quality.  When we print a demo page, the colors seem fine.  Then we try to print a document or handout that has color in it, and the edges along the sides of the paper fade and the colors seem spotty, at best, and usually the colors are faded.  I have even tried changing the printer properties to lighter, heavier and even glossy paper, and ther is just no discernable difference in quality.  I have also cleaned the printer and changed the ink cartridges and, again, there are no differences.  The colors simply seem to fade near the edges of the paper.  Is there anything that can be done?

    Hi balaspa; Hope you are doing well;
Your HP laserjet 2600n is a commercial product. I will suggest posting in the forum for HP Business Support for a better chance at finding a prompt solution.

  • Print to LaserJet 2200d via a wireless print-sharing computer?

I would like to share an HP LaserJet 2200d over a wireless connection to other clients on the network. The 2200d coonnects to my G4 via USB (no JetDirect card). The G4 is a wireless node on the network. All OSX nodes are 10.3.9.
The printer works fine for the direct connect G4, but it doesn't show up at other machines in the Printer Utility display of available printers.
Can this be done? It would appear that one can print to a 2200 via USB to an Airport Express device, so why won't it work through a spooling client?
    Thanks in advance (I hope)

I have run Printer Setup Repair on the G3 (10.3.9) and all the various repair sequences. (e.g. repair file permissions)
I have made a wired connection for the host and the G3 still doesn't see it. I have tried nearly every connecting option offered in Setup Utility. (AppleTalk, IP Printing, LPR, JetDirect, Rendezvous)
I can ping the host machine from the G3.
A laptop trunning 10.4.x can print to the 2200 just fine, via its own WiFi connection to the network. On that machine, the 2200 shows up in Printer Setup Utility under 'default browser' and shows up in the Printer List properly attributed to its host machine.

  • HP LaserJet 2600n poor print quality/streaking

I am the original owner of an HP LJ 2600n with a poor print quality/streaking issue. The poor print quality occurs with any and all paper that I use (currently Hammerhill 20# stock) and occurred with Windows XP and Windows 7. The print cartidges are all genuine HP and changing them does not make any difference. I have cleaned the front door roller with no improvement.  My firmware version is 20070716. The black cartridge is at 33%; yellow 75%; cyan 91% and magenta 91%...
Any advice would be appreciated. An example of the output is attached below:

    Hi everyone,
I have resolved my problem. I took a leap and purchased a new toner cartridge, and the new catridge works great. Installed it yesterday and the test page comes out clean, clear and with no double image. I'm happy.
Apparently the printer had not had a print item sent to it in over a year. I think that was actually hard on the toner cartridge.
Tthanks to everyone for their help via private emails!

  • LaserJet 2600n Print Quality problem (with a scan showing the problem)

I'm trying to create areas of solid colour in order to use the toner transfer method of making printed circuits.  To do that I need to print really dark solid black blocks - when I try that I see uneven toner in certain areas.  This scan of the output shows the problem:
There are lighter areas (less covered by toner) at the bottom (page orientation wise) of solid black blocks - but only where there is a subsequent block of black below!  For example, the leftmost shape's bottom edge is fine.
I'm perplexed.  I'm very impressed with the configurability of the 2600n, and I get the feeling that there's probably a setting I could tweak to solve this, and I'm hoping that there's a laser printer expert reading this forum who'll have some suggestions.
    Cheers,
    Chris.

It looks to me as if you have your print quality setting in your printer driver set to standard or draft rather than set to best photo. This setting has to be changed in your printer driver which is accessed by the button in the lower left-hand corner of the screen when you are in the print module.

  • Laserjet 2200d used to work fine; now red light on and can't find problem

I have a Laserjet 2200d.  It worked fine for years.  Suddenly, one day it just stopped working.  The red emergency light is on.  I can't find any problem.  I've tried the usual, like paper jam and shaking cartridge.  I recently found a user forum that suggested taking the whole machine apart and adding a drop of oil to the motor shaft in the circuit board of the laser scanner assembly.  I even tried that.  Didn't make a difference.  Anything else I should try before tossing the printer?  An old cartridge shouldn't make printer stop, should it?  I don't want to buy a new cartridge or spend money on this printer unless I know I can get printer to work.

  • HP Laserjet 2550L Won't Print In Color

I recently upgraded to Leopard, and now my HP Laserjet 2550L will not print in color. I've tried printing for several different apps, but they always come out in b & w. It does however print in color when printing a test page from the printer itself, so it must be a driver issue.
Currently I'm running with the "HP color Laserjet 2550 series" driver available via PPDPicker. I've also tried several other drivers listed there to see if by chance one of them would work, but to no avail. I downloaded and tried installing HP Laserjet v5.5.2.051 from HP's website, but I can't get it to install. Actually this driver doesn't even show up in PPDPicker, because for some reason it saves as a text file, which seems weird since the dmg file is about 17mb.
Anyway, this has been driving me nuts all night, so if anyone has a solution or suggestion, I'm all ears.
    Thanks.

I see you are having a print quality issue, no color on page, with your M251nw Laserjet.  You changed the toner cartridges and the printer is still not printing in color.  Have you tried taking all the color toner cartridges out of the printer and reseating them to make sure they are secure in their positions?

  • Sharing HP LaserJet 2200d on Windows 7 to XP machine

I need help sharing my LaserJet 2200d running on Windows 7 with another computer running XP. The HP LaserJet was originally installed on the XP 32 bit machine and it ran fine. I bought a new computer with Windows 7, 64 bit and Windows automatically installed the software for the printer and it works fine on Windows 7. I have printer sharing turned on and the XP machine CAN find the HP printer across the network. In reading the HP web support on this topic I did try to configure the HP LaserJet for both 64 bit and 32 bit (x86) drivers. However, when I follow through the step outlined on this page - http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c02030517 I run into a problem in locating the proper driver. I keep getting an error message saying that I do not have the correct file. I tried all HP 2200 PCL 5 drivers that I could find on this link, including the universal driver - http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=28862&pr... but non of them worked. I kept getting the message that I do not have the correct driver. The exact error message is "The requested location does not contain the driver for the HP LaserJet 2200 Series PCL 5 for the requested processor architecture. What driver do I need to install on my windows 7 machine in order to allow the HP 2200d PCL 5 printer to be shared with my 32 bit XP machine and where do I find it? Thanks very much, Dan

HP seems pretty damned indifferent to its customers' problems.  I have about the same problem.  My computer has Windows 7 SP1 x64, with a LaserJet 2200D connected via USB.  I have been trying to share it with another computer, which is running Windows XP SP3 x86, on home network.
I am able to use the printer from my computer, but not from the XP machine.  I've tried to download "additional drivers" for the client machine, but keep getting messages "no driver found" after unzipping.  Also have tried installing drivers on the other computer, again to the same messages there.
I've had the printer working on both computers before, but only after hours of fiddling around with different drivers on both machines and then, only by luck it seems, did it work.  Can't seem to get it work this time around.
I usually reinstall Windows (win7) about once a year, and really do not want to have to go through this problem yet again next year.  I want to fix this problem now.

  • HP LaserJet Pro 200 M251nw printing dirty ( messy )

Just recently has my HP LaserJet Pro 200 M251nw starting printing horribly;  The quality is poor that it has excessive ink throughout and all over the page  like clouds sort of all down it  ON every page;  color too; even blank pages and blank space has the excess black/gray;  almost like the print head is dirty?>   I have no diea how to clean anything .  I know the cartirdges are there and I pull it out and there does not appear to be residue;  is there another I can clean?

  • Setting HP LaserJet 2200d Duplex Doesn't work

Machine is fully updated via Software Update as of 7/15/2008 (10.5.4), including the 7/15/08 HP Drivers.
    Printer: HP LaserJet 2200d
    Interface: USB
    Driver: /Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources/HP LaserJet 2200.gz
I installed the printer and ensured it is using the correct driver.
Open the print queue, select Info, select Driver, set the Duplex Unit checkbox and set the RAM to 8-15MB to match printer's 8MB RAM.
    Open any PDF using Preview.
    Command-P to print
Set pages to print From 1 to 2 (to save resources, has no effect on this behavior)
    Open Layout
    Set Duplex to Long-edge binding
    press Print
Resulting job is printed single-sided on two sheets.
I use Preview and PDFs as an example application. Every application I have tried prints single-sided when long-edge is set.
Interestingly, if I issue the following shell command, duplexing is properly enabled:
    lp -P 1-2 -o sides=two-sided-long-edge samefile.pdf
Also, when I print to this print queue over the network from a Tiger 10.4.11 machine, duplexing is properly enabled.
    Is there a fix?

Yes, I was using a "No banner" preset here at home, too. Not exactly sure why.
Printing using "Standard" then setting two-sided worked.
Exiting Preview then using "Last Used Settings" also resulted in duplex printing.
I wonder if this has something to do with a printer preset being migrated from a 10.4 account or something....
Since deleting that preset, I haven't been able to get it to fail either. Even creating new presets, selecting it, then adding duplex.

  • HP Laserjet m251nw - won't print in color

I am not able to print in color to my hp m251nw.
It has been about a week since the problem started.
I replaced all the color cartridges as they were low.  Now, no matter what device I use to print - laptop, mobile phone, etc. it always comes out in black and white.
On the printer control panel it shows all the cartridges as being full.
Even when I print the test page on the printer it is in black and white.
    HELP????
