LaserJet 2300 Problem

Recently, I had to reinstall the software and drivers for an old LaserJet 2300 b&w printer we have networked in the office. Although it took awhile, everything is now working just fine.
However, every time any of the staff go to print something, they always get a blank sheet of paper at the end of their newly printed document. I've looked through preferences, etc., but can't find any way to turn it off. I've also tried the set up utility on the printer itself. No luck.
Anyone have any ideas as to what I need to change?

  • Windows 7 to Networked LaserJet 2300 (running XP)

I purhased a new laptop running Windows 7.  I have an HP LaserJet 2300 running on another computer with Windows XP as the operating system using a USB connection.  In addition, there is another laptop running Vista and another desktop running XP.  All 4 computers are networked thru a Linksys router/switch.  The Vista and XP computers can access the LaserJet 2300 thru the network.  However, the Windows 7 machine is a problem.
If I hook up the LaserJet 2300 directly to the Windows 7 machine, it finds a driver and works.  However, when I try to add the LaserJet 2300 as a networked printer, I get a message that says the driver can not be found.  I can get as far as seeing the LaserJet 2300 in the "shared printer window", but when I click next, I get the message that it can not locate the driver.
I have downloaded the HP generic driver on the Windows 7 machine.  And when I "browse" to that file, and try to match the required *.inf file, I get the message that it cannot be found.
Does anyone have a work around?

    Hi bilibestimt,
How about if you try to hook the LJ2300 up to the Win 7 machine locally via USB (at this point I am suspecting you are using the inbox Microsoft LJ2300 driver) and verify that it works with the installed plug and play print driver...
Then print a config page from the LJ2300 for the IP address, and go back to the Windows 7 PC and go into the "Devices and Printers" folder, and then right click on the LJ2300 installed USB driver and go to "Properties", and then go to the "Ports Tab", and  click on "Add Port"
    -choose standard TCP IP port
    -Click on New Port
-Type in the LJ2300 printer's IP address
-Click Next and follow the prompts.
-This should allow the USB installed print driver to print over a network port.

The only drivers available for the Laserjet 2300 and windows 7 operating system are a Universal Print Driver (UPD) and the drivers available with the windows 7 operating system. Please refer to the document below for help on how to install the drivers that come with the windows 7 operating system.
Install a driver included in the windows 7 OS
If you prefer to use the Universal Print Driver (UPD), that driver is downloadable at the product home page or from the UPD site: www.hp.com/go/upd
Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

  • HP Laserjet 2300 and Landscape Mode

I have a Laserjet 2300 that I use regularly. When I switched to Leopard, it found the driver and installed it fine, but now it won't recognize printing in landscape mode. Doesn't matter what you are printing from (Word, Pages, Finder, etc.).
    Any suggestions?

  • AEBS (802.11n) and hp laserjet 2300 series

Has anyone had success with wireless printing using hp laserjet 2300 series?
I've installed the 2300 series drivers, but can only print when the printer is attached directly to the computer.

Unfortunately, not all USB printers are compatible with AirPort base stations. A quick look at the iFelix Unofficial AirPort Printer Compatibility List doesn't show this particular model. This doesn't necessarily mean it won't work, but simply that it has not been verified. iFelix also provides the following workaround for printers not on the list that would certainly be worth a try.

  • [Solved] ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2300 Problem - fglrx not loading

I changed the currently unreliable GS 8600 nvidia card in my laptop to a compatible old ATI HD 2300 card from a similar model laptop but I can't get the Catalyst drivers to work with it. The open source driver xf86-video-ati works well with it for basic use, but is not so good for 3D. This card should work with an Amilo xi-2428 & has done for other people who have developed faulty nvidia cards.
I have the legacy driver installed from AUR (Catalyst-total-hd234k) and have enabled Vi0L0's [xorg112] server properly in pacman.conf & downgraded to Xorg-server 1.12. I also tried downgrading to Xorg-server 1.11 & reinstalling the drivers from AUR. Plus I have enabled and tried Vi0L0's [catalyst-hd234k] repo in place of the AUR package each time too. Made no difference. I've blacklisted radeon too.
When the laptop boots systemd-modules-load.service shows as failed.
    $ sudo systemctl --failed
    UNIT LOAD ACTIVE SUB DESCRIPTION
systemd-modules-load.service loaded failed failed Load Kernel Modules

To show all installed unit files use 'systemctl list-unit-files'.

It is only the fglrx module which fails to load:-
    $ sudo journalctl -b _PID=121

I have no idea how to get fglrx to load & since it fails to load so early during boot I doubt the problem lies with my Xorg.conf. Likewise neither aticonfig or the ATI control center work.

Solved. The  ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2300 was based on an earlier design & was not really one of the HD 2*** cards, even tho it was released as one (HD 2*** cards are R600 series while the HD 2300 is based on the R500 generation). So the offical drivers for it were relegated to legacy in 2009 with AMD's Catalyst 9.3 release & are no longer supported. Pretty crappy considering the HD 2300 was only on the market from 2007.
To use the official catalyst drivers would require xorg 1.5.3 and kernel 2.6.29..... with no support for newer distros.
Using open source drivers, cannot remember all the packages but have listed some below in case it helps anyone:-
    xf86-video-ati
    ati-dri
    lib32-ati-dri
    libtxc_dxtn
    lib32-libtxc_dxtn
    mesa
    lib32-mesa
No xorg.conf needed for it using kms, but can make a config file to tweak if you like in the xorg.conf.d directory called 20-radeon.conf

Thanks for the response. It is not an obvious hardware issue. I would contact HP phone support to get the hardware addressed. You can utilize this website to learn how to contact HP appropriately, based on your region: Contact HP Worldwide
Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. Thanks!

  • HP Laserjet printer problem

My HP Color Laserjet 1500 printer doesn't work properly with my Mac (it did work well formerly with a PC). There are two problems:
    1) the software is incomplete: I do have the printer established as my default printer but I don't get the full range of info I used to get, such as ink supply levels, etc.
    2) the printer will print the first job but usually fails to print subsequent jobs; i have to turn it off and then turn it on again to print the next job.
I've reinstalled the driver from the HP website, searched the discussion boards on both HP and Mac, and don't know what to try next! The printer is no longer eligible for tech support thru HP.
    Any suggestions from anyone?
    Thanks --

  • HP LaserJet 1000 problem after Leopard install

Anyone else have a problem printing after the Leopard install?
My printer and driver was recognized but I can't print. When I watch the print queue it say there are errors and fails.
Since HP never made a driver for this printer, I was using a Zenographics driver that worked great. That is, until I upgraded.
I unplugged the USB and power cords, and removed the printer from System Preferences. After plugging everything back in and adding the printer again, the printer seemed like it wanted to print, but still didn't work.
    Please help.

Thank you for your answers. I was hoping someone would reply.
HP LJ 1000 is a great printer and I figured a few people had to have one. It is unfortunate as this printer hardly ever needed the toner changed, and I used it as my main printer. I swear I only changed toner four times in the last five years!
I looked everywhere for a driver and found nothing. HP said they had no updated driver for the Mac (as they told me a year ago, too) and they were not going to create one.
My final solution was to give up my printer to a good neighbor for $50 for her pc.
I researched printers from the Apple store and decided to go with the very Mac friendly HP Laserjet 1022:
    http://store.apple.com/AppleStore/WebObjects/EducationIndividualCustom.woa/94340 03/wa/PSLID?mco=CC919B84&fnode=home/shopmac/macaccessories/printers&nplm=TC976LL/A&wosid=gG2dihO9R0Mg29v6f901bEeWNf2
Hopefully it will be a good printer. After returning the new toner I bought for the LJ1000, I thought Staples would have it in stock. However, after trying three different stores, it seems the best way to get a Mac-friendly printer is to go online.
I hope I helped you out as well.
    Again, thank you.

  • HP Laserjet P1102w problem

    Hello,
after several attempts and after installing the newest firmware I finally have managed to install the Laserjet P1102w on my Mac OS: Lion).
However, I still face a major problem when printing wireless: the printer stops printing after a while.I have installed the printer via bonjour, assigned a unique SSID and a fixed IP adresse, deactivated auto-off, set the I/O timeout to max. The printer is accessible over the webbased interface and prints documents via ePrint mobile printing. Although the LED glows a constant blue, the printer quits printing.
Is there a major bug in the firmware or is the printer incompatible with OS 10.7.2?

Let's set a static IP address for the printer:
    - Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
    - Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
    - Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). You can find the DHCP range of the router using its internal settings page or in its manual. Use the CD that came with your router or type the router's IP address (ends in .1) into a browser.
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Enter your router's IP (on the Network Config Page) for the gateway and first DNS. Leave the second one blank.
    - Click 'Apply'.
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.

  • HP Laserjet 2200 problem solved  v2

I was having problems getting Snow Leopard to recognise my old HP LaserJet 2200 (in my case a 2200DN which I was trying to access through the Ethernet port of a Time Capsule). Tony from London in this post: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10073041&#10073041 explained how to find the IP address of your LaserJet (for the 2200DN you press Go and Job Cancel buttons simultaneously, and the details are printed out). In my case Tony's solution of using this to connect via the Internet Printing Protocol did not work. Instead I found it did work using the HP Directjet - Socket protocol. The steps are:
    1. Find the IP address of your printer as described above.
    2. Click the + sign to add a printer in the Print & Fax preferences window
    3. Select the IP option (globe symbol) in the toolbar
    4. In the Protocol pull-down, select HP Directjet - Socket
    5. Enter the printer's IP address in the Address box
    6. Select the correct driver in the Print Using pull-down
    7. Click the Add button
    Hope that works for you!

  • HP Laserjet 1020 problem with double-side printing

    Hi, everyone!
I have a problem with my printer HP laserjet 1020. From the community I know that there is no driver for 1020, but there is for 1022 (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907). I installed it and everything was fine until I tried to print 2-sided page... It appears 2-sided option disappeared and I don't know how to fix this...
    Can anyone help, please?
    Thank you for looking.

    AMW122,
The part in the photograph appears to be part of the fuser assembly.  If it is part of the fuser assembly, I would recommend you replace the fuser.  An internet search on "LaserJet 3300 fuser" found several links.
From what I can see, it appears that the fuser sleeve is damaged which will continue to worsen.
If it is not the fuser, can you post another photograph further away so that we can see the location on the printer where it is located, etc...
