  • HP Laserjet 4L with Windows 7

I just purchased a new computer with Windows 7 Professional (32 bit) and Microsoft Office Small Business Professional.  My HP Laserjet 4L was installed and a test print page printed ok.  However, when I try to print documents and/or emails with a lot of graphics, the graphics overlay each other and the text.
    Can anyone help?
    Thank you

My Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit system has a built-in driver for this printer model:
I don't know whether the driver is present on a fresh Windows install; it may only have appeared in the list after the Windows Update button was clicked on the above Add Printers dialogue, then waiting (perhaps for several minutes) whilst additional drivers were downloaded, and the list repopulated.
I'd assume that the same might be true of earlier Windows versions as well.

The product you have seems to be a commercial printer. For the best chance at finding a solution I would suggest posting in the forum for HP Business Support!

  • Problem Laserjet 1000 with Windows Vista 32 bit

Good morning. I have a laserjet 1000 connected to the USB port on another computer with windows xp and shared. I have to connect it to another pc with windows vista pc with ip address. Install the printer but does not work. I used the driver for win xp as I read on several forums but it does not work. What kind of driver should I use ?
Can you give me some advice ?
    Thank you

If your model is lacking the correct Vista drivers from Lenovo and Vista doesn't offer native support then I see upgrading to Windows 7 as your only option.  Here is a link to what Lenovo drivers are available.......

  • Laserjet 5000 with windows 7 driver cannot print multiple copies unless disabling mopier

Customer has Laserjet 5000 that they have been using for approx 5 years. It is connected to one computer with the standard parallel cable and the driver is using lpt1. It is used mainly to print word documents and a multi page publisher document. The computer used to be a windows xp computer and all  worked  well with the PCL6 driver and that is the only driver that was used
They just bought a new Windows 7 32 bit computer and now it has lost some of the functionality.
The first driver that was loaded was the driver that Windows 7 used after you use the windows update button that you get during the add printer wizard. I think it was the pcl 5 driver as that is the driver that the computer will install if you remove the printer and then restart the computer. Using this driver, when you choose to print more than one page or multiple copies, it will just print the first page or copy and there will not be any errors displayed.
I have since downloaded the PCL6 driver, PS driver and PCL5 driver from HP's website and tried all of them.
The PS driver will print more than one page, but when it gets to about the 4th page the printer prints out an error page. The error is PCL XL error, Subsystem: Kernel, Error: Unsupported protocol, Operator 0x0, Position:0
The PCl 6 driver will print the same error page and not print any print jobs, even if it is just a single page, single copy job.
The pcl 5 driver prints one page and then stops printing, no errors.
When I disable the mopier under device settings, the pcl5 driver will print everything just fine. Only problem is, it will not collate. The collate checkbox is available and checked when we try the multiple page multiple copy publisher document, but it just prints out as if we do not have collate checked. If we could get collation to work, than we are good to go.
I have not tried the PS driver with the mopier disabled.
The PCL6 driver stills returns the pcl xl error with the mopier disabled.
The printer does not have any extra memory, just the 4 mb standard that came with the printer. I am wondering if this is a memory issue triggered by Windows 7and I just need to get more memory for the printer. (Computer has 4 gb of memory)
Anybody else have a similar issue and got theirs fixed?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi jnickelsen,
I understand the printer won't print multiple copies.
    Thank you for your reply.
I will be happy to help you with this.
This printer doesn't have the Mopier settings.
    What drivers are you using?
Did you download the drivers or are you using the Windows preinstalled drivers?
If you are using the Windows preinstalled drivers then I would download the latest drivers. Here is the URL for the HP LaserJet Full Feature Software and Driver.
I would download and run the Print and Scan Doctor since it might resolve the issue automatically.

  • Hp laserjet 1018 with windows 7-32 driver problems

We've used this printer with our new computers for 2 yrs now. The last 4 months, we've had issues with it not printing all of the time, but. Could turn it off and back on and it would work. Now it's not printing at all. I have downloaded driver and utility, it works to print 2 things and then quits again. If I reinstall the driver again, same thing, prints 2, then quits. I have replaced the cable, tried everything. This is my main printer at my front desk (billing, patient receipts, etc), I need thirinter up and running ASAP! Having to reinstall the driver every 15 minutes is not going to work for me!

    Hi,
Please delete the LaserJet 1018 printer driver from device & printers. Then click on 'print server properties' -> driver tab and delete 1018 driver (if listed).
then from server properties, go to 'port' tab-> delete printer IP port (in case of network printer)
download basic host based driver from following URL:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=bi-58503-3&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&...
    and complete the driver installation.

  • Can't use HP Laserjet 4000 with Windows 7 or even in XP virtual mode

I've tried everything I can think of; read everything I can find; downloaded drivers, updates, and patches; uninstalled the printer, reinstalled the printer, rebooted, ad nauseum.  And I still can't get it to work -- this week, that is.  Last week it printed.  All the check tests say it should work.  In XP Virtual Mode the status menu shows the document printed -- but it must be a virtual copy, because I can't find it.  When I try to print in Windows 7, the status menu shows "error"  but troubleshooting can't find anything wrong.  Any suggestions?  Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks for your time.

  • Laserjet driver with Windows 7

Windows 7 professional 64 bit freezes when printing to HP Laserjet M1530 MFP . Is there a newer driver?

    Hey twars,
I am guessing you have the Laserjet Pro M1536dnf, correct me if i'm wrong.
The most recent driver released for this model printer was January 7, 2011.
However, as to the print jobs freezing.
When was the last time the printer and PC were power cycled?
If the printer is connected through a network connection, when was the last time the router was restarted?
Have you tried running the HP Print and Scan Doctor?  This is an automated troubleshooting tool.  The PSDR can be accessed by clicking here.
If you provide a bit more detail I will try my best to provide further assistance directed at the issue you are experiencing.

  • LaserJet 4L with Windows XP. Erratic behavior

My LaserJet 4L has been gently used since I bought it many years ago.
It was always a PERFECT machine.
But suddenly it is not reliable. The test page works and sometimes it prints fine from documents or web pages, but the erratic behavior when I try to print  now includes:
        1. All lights coming on even though there is no paper jam and the paper tray is not empty.
         2. One blank sheet prints, instead of what I wanted.
HP phone support said to buy a new machine but the store where I bought the machine said it might be just an easy fix like a wire or a driver.
I prefer to fix the machine instead of buying a new one because it is more ecological!

Honey, it's time to start saying your farewells to your beloved printer.  The behaviour you are describing is the beginnings of a serious hardware meltdown involving the High Voltage Power Suppy and your formatter board (and possibly the DC controller but generally when that goes the printer will not recover from whatever error or behaviour it is performing).

  • HP Laserjet p2015d auto duplex printing with Windows 7 64 bit operating system

I have used the HP Laserjet p2015d with Windows 7 32 bit operating system and have been able to use the AUTOMATIC DUPLEX feature of the printer without problems.
Now, however, I have installed the 64 bit version of Windows 7 operating system and the AUTO DUPLEX does not work and is not shown as being available on the PROPERTIES menu of the printer.
Is it possible to use the AUTO DUPLEX  feature of  the printer with Windows 7   64 bit  operating system.
All replies welcomed!   Aaron in Calif.

    Hi Aaron,
Make sure the Automatic Duplexing option is enabled:
Enter Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
Right click the printer icon, then click Printer Properties.
    Click the Device Settings tab.
Set the Automatic Two-Sided Duplex Accessory as installed and click OK to save the change.
Now Automatic Duplexing should become available.

  • Driver to have HP Laserjet C4120A (HP Laserjet 4000n) work with Windows 7

We just put in 28 new Dell OptiPlex 3030 AIO with Windows 7 Professional in a school computer lab - but the tech guy did not install a printer for it to print to because he says our current printer - an HP Laserjet 4000n (C4120A) - is too old and will not work with Windows 7.  This is an EXCELLENT printer and has been working for us for a long time and I hate to give it up.
Would someone please direct me to where a driver for this printer that will work with Windows 7 - or will Windows 7 automatically determine what driver is needed and retrieve it from its set of drivers it has with the operating system?
Thank you so much for helping!

    Hello,
I've seen this same issue with my printers (other HP printers) whereby the default setting to support the Duplexing hardware was set to 'off'.
A quick method to check this is look at what the setting is for Duplex hardware in the Device Settings tab, and if it's not set, correct it.
      Printer Properties:
From the 'Start' orb -> [Devices & Printers] -> right click on your Printer icon -> select 'Printer Properties' -> click on 'Device Settings' tab.
You should see a dialog similar to the mine (attached): look for the 'Duplex unit (for 2-sided printing)' and see if it's set to "Not Installed":
--> in either case, click on 'Not installed' and from the dropdown box, select 'Installed'... Click 'OK' to accept the changes and close the dialog.
    Printing Preferences:
again, right click on your Printer icon -> select 'Printing Preferences' -> click on 'Advanced' tab.
-->Check to see if there is a 'Duplex Hardware' or '2-sided printing' option in here: mine doesn't show one but thougth I'd mention it nonetheless.
Click on the 'Finishing' tab and select 'Print on both sides'...or simply test print a multi-page document and set those preferences on-the-fly.
Let me know if this helps...
