Laserjet 600 M602 Delete print queue

Hi,
I have deleted jobs from my computer's printer folder, yet they are still being held in the printer. When I restart the printer, the jobs start printing. I know how to delete them one at a time. The job starts, delete it, the next job starts, delete it; that gets old.
How do I delete the entire queue on the printer?
The instructions on the HP web site do not match the menu on the printer.

Hi Openheader:
This can sure be a frustrating problem, and understand your issue. There is a solution that I could recommend, but would need to know which operating system you are using since the solution steps might vary.

  • HP LaserJet 600 M602 printer goes offline every night

    Hi,
I have a HP LaserJet 600 M602 CE991A printer on a wired network. I have quite a few other printers on the network as well and do not show me this kind of behavior.
But for some reason, this printer, from as soon as I bought it, goes offline every time from around 5.20-5.30pm to around 8.30pm. I have a ping tester running as I am trying to figure out what's going on and I got 100% drop every night for that time period.
I looked to see if there was a setting that puts this device to sleep or so but no, I cant find anything. I have tried with the energy setting sleep mode on or off, wake up events to trigger a wake up call to the printer but no luck.

Hi. This is my first time on this forum. I am looking for help. I am trying to access the web configurations for my printer in my office to make modifications to the settings. However, when I try to access the "change settings", it prompts me for a UserName and Password. I do not have this information. I believe the person previously assigned to this office had a password on it and never wrote it down for the next person. We have no IT specilast. I will have to be my own IT. I figured someone here could maybe help me out?

  • Printing queue management

I'm not sure this is really a "LabVIEW" problem, but I was looking for someway to solve it from within my program.
In my application, I am automatically printing out a 2 page test report approximately every 15 minutes. (I do this by calling a VI, and printing it out using the 'Print this VI when completed' option.) The problem is that after some time, the print queue eventually builds to a large amount of printouts and begins to bog down system performance. I am assuming that this is because the printer is running out of paper or has jammed; but I can't be sure since I am not local to the site where the software is running.
Is there some way from within LabVIEW for me to determine if there has been a problem printing out my reports, or if the printer status is OK? I am printing to a HP Laserjet 1022n that is just plugged into the LAN. There doesn't seem to be an API in any of the manuals I've looked at for me to send a message to the printer via the network to get the size of the print queue or anything like that. The PC is running Windows XP.
Has anyone dealt with similiar problems, or have any ideas? The best that I've been able to come up with is just to task schedule in windows a reset of the print spooler at a regular interval to stop this from happening. (Which is not really a good solution to the real problem.)

A simple solution might be to open a command prompt using the SYSTEM EXEC.VI (essentially a container for a CIN {Code Interface Note}) and issue the NET PRINT command which will return a list of jobs in the printer queues.
You could then work out if jobs were being printed or not and subsequently decide if to warn the user or selectively delete print queue items.
You will get a list of all print queus so you may need to have the user indicate a specific print queue or server.
The other option is to start accessing the Windows API to obtain printer que information, the former is likely to be the fastest to implement, if tedious.
Below is a sample output for a computer without print queue
    "NET PRINT
    \\computername\sharename
              [\\computername] job# [/HOLD | /RELEASE | /DELETE]
NET PRINT displays print jobs and shared queues.
For each queue, the display lists jobs, showing the size and status of each job, and the status of the queue.
\\computername        Is the name of the computer sharing the printer queue(s).
sharename                Is the name of the shared printer queue.
job#                          Is the identification number assigned to a print job. A computer with one or more printer queues assigns each print job a unique number.
/HOLD                       Prevents a job in a queue from printing. The job stays in the printer queue, and other jobs bypass it until it is released.
/RELEASE                Reactivates a job that is held.
    /DELETE                  Removes a job from a queue.

  • HP LaserJet 5200 Print Queue Disappears or Won't Print Jobs

This problem has been ongoing for years, and can usually be overcome by either power-cycling the printer or cancelling the queue and reprinting. I have searched for nearly 6 years for a solution to this, but there was never anything that worked  so we just muddled through it. But for some reason within the past few days has now escalated to the point that the printer won't print at all.
For starters: we're on Mac 10.8.3. That really shouldn't make much difference, however - as this problem has been around with other computers running older OS as far back as 10.4. Currently, the HP 5200 LaserJet is hooked up to USB (no Jet Direct card) and is shared on the network. No updates have been made (nor are there any available) for 6-9 months at least on the computer or printer. The only consistent part of this issue is that regardless of computer (we have hooked up three of them) the same problem persists at the same workstation (we changed it up today to troubleshoot - see below).
I have performed the following troubleshooting in the past two days:
    • Installed and re-installed the printer software three times.
    • Reset the printing system in the Print/Fax System Preferences five or six times.
    • Power-cycled the printer, deleted the queue and reprinted approximately 30 times.
    • Turned off printer sharing and turned on printer sharing to no effect either way.
    • Restored the printer to factory settings to no effect.
    • Tried running with the 5200 PPD and a Generic PS Printer PPD, no effect either way.
    • Hooked the printer up directly to the computer and through a powered USB hub, no effect either way.
    • Hooked up four different USB cables, two of which are from computers using printers that are not experiencing any connectivity issues.
    • In the HP Utility, when hooked up direct via USB, the Service ID, FW Version, Serial and Product numbers come up as 'unknown'
    • In the HP Utility, when hooked up via sharing the HP Utility will not work at all with the printer.
Most of the time I get the error of "Printing-Waiting for printer to become available" when sending a document. It doesn't matter if I send it from TextEdit, Safari, Chrome, or any Adobe program - it doesn't print.
Sometimes the document will act as if it's printing, and the light on the printer blinks - then it disappears without printing. The Print Log from the printer does not show anything being printed.
Prior to this new problem, we had an older 5200 printing exhibiting the same escalated issues. When I went to upgrade the firmware (Firmware date code of 20090716), the computer and printer lost connectivity and the formatter board became damaged. HP replaced our printer with another 5200 - which is now exhibiting the same issues. The new printer carries a Firmware date code of 20071017.
So, under these similar circumstances, upgrading the firmware is not an option as I don't think I can upload to the printer without losing the connection and damaging the formatter board again.
At this point, the printer simply won't print regardless of what I do.
I have moved the printer to another Mac using 10.6.8 and it is currently printing, but that is only a temporary fix. Edit: 3.5 hours later, the printer is exhibiting the same issues, and I am currently SOL on printing anything again.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks for replying - I was able to print a configuration page from the printer. I am not sure how to send text directly to the printer (assuming you mean by bypassing the print command window) - if someone has this info for a Mac, I can give it a try.
Additionally, I forgot to report the troubleshooting using the HP Utility (which made me think of when dansdaduk suggested printing directly to the printer):
    • When hooked up direct via USB, the Service ID, FW Version, Serial and Product numbers come up as 'unknown'
    • When hooked up via sharing the HP Utility will not work at all with the printer.
For a long while, I thought it may be something with the printer, but I believe it has to do with a USB connection conflicting in some way on the Mac OS, especially considering that we have had two printers manufactured at two different intervals across several years exhibiting the same issues. It's the only constant that remains, even when hooked up directly and not shared, or hooked up and shared across different computers regardless of the OS.

  • Jobs show twice in print queue - won't delete and won't print

I have an HP Laserjet P1006 running on a HP laptop running Windows 7 64 bit.  Printer has worked fine for 8 months but recently ran into problems.
When I send a print job to it, the printer doesn't print.  If I open up the print queue, the job shows up twice.  If I try to delete the jobs, they don't delete.  I can use the HP Print Diagnostic Utility to get the jobs cleared out of the queue, but the same thing happens the next time I try to print something.
A Few Other Items to Note:
    - I don't get any error lights on the printer.
    - I brought home a laptop from home running XP and installed the printer using the CD.  The printer worked fine with that computer, so I don't think it's a problem with the printer hardware.
    - I have tried uninstalling the printer, both using the CD that came with it and with the latest drivers/software from the website.  Didn't do anything (same problem occurs when printing a test page).
    - HP Print Diagnostic Utility doesn't find anything wrong.  Likewise, if I right click on the printer and click Troubleshoot, that doesn't help either.
    - I've tried restarting the print spooler, but that didn't do anything.

Hard Reset – While printer is powered ON, pull the power cord from the printer then from the wall. After 30 seconds reconnect power to wall and printer. This will trigger a ‘dirty power up’ and restore the printer to a known good condition (if it is possible). No user settings are lost with a ‘hard reset’.
This ‘Hard Reset’ is one of the most powerful tools to use when the printer hardware is not functioning properly!

  • Clear Print Queue HP P1102w LaserJet

After printing to my wireless HP P1102w LaserJet, the print queue does not clear/empty.  So, when I print, again, the printer does not respond because there are queued docs to print, yet.  I can physically delete the queue, but this is cumbersome.  And, I am not the only user of the printer. It took forever to get the proper drivers loaded by using Apple Update.  Finally, the printer prints, whether using wireless or Wi-Fi. But, the document remains in the queue. Any ideas?  Or, is this an HP problem?

I just went through this myself. It is basically as fede says. You need cups installed and running, and hplip installed. Some of the printers require a plugin (like my LaserJet 1018), and that may be why you get the message 'filter failed'. I got it too.
You have to run hp-setup to get the plugin BUT hp-setup won't run properly without a /usr/bin/python symlinked to python2.7 . Either create that symlink or as fede says, if you already have one that points to python3, delete that symlink and create a new one pointing to python2.7, and then run hp-setup. It will run fine and your printer should work.
On my other computer I have Ubuntu 12.10 and I noticed they have /usr/bin/python symlinked to python2.7 as a standard, that's why hp-setup ran correctly on it the first time. When I did a basic install of Arch recently it only installed python2, but there was no symlink of python -> python2.7 included in the package. If you install python3 (also known as python), you get the symlink of python -> python3. It's all a bit confusing, but I think if we only have python2 installed it might be a good idea to include the symlink python -> python2.7 in the package. Seems to me this confusion has been going on for a couple of years? I think I will leave my symlink python -> python2.7 in place.

  • Print Jobs not clearing "Deleting - Printed" message from Print Queue

The jobs print fine but the message Deleting - Printed doesn't clear from the print queue.
The two printers having the issue are HP Color LaserJet 3550s using the External HP JetDirect en3700 (J7942A-61033).
Our Print Server is an HP BL25P running MS Server 2003 Enterprise Edition / SP2.  This issue started about two weeks ago only on these printers.  I downloaded the newest drive (dated 2007 version 61.63.461.41).
I have deleted and recreated the printers on the Print server and installed the new driver.  Still having the same issue.  To clear the Print Queue we have to restart the Print Spooler Service on the Print Server.- this causes the "Deleting - Printed" jobs to print again which could be days / weeks after they were originally printed.
We don't want to keep having to restart the Print Spooler.
Any one having a similar issue and know off a fix.   I have tried everything I have so far found on the Web.
    Thank you.

  • How to create HP LaserJet 2420 printer queue on Solaris 10

    Hi Solaris Gurus,
I am having difficulty creating a printer queue for HP LaserJet 2420 on Solaris 10 (11/9) Sparc (Sun Fire T5220) server. A popular method used is with hppi (HP Jet Direct) tool but it does not have the exact printer driver and alternative printer drivers (e.g. HP LaserJet 4 / 4M, HP LaserJet 2000 series) resulted in only part of the text occupying the wrong side of an A5 page.
An alternative approach that has worked in the past for simple default paper tray 2 (single paper tray), with tray 1 reserved for manual feed. This method involves creating a working printer queue on a Windows workstation (XP) / server (2000) with the correct driver and having configured to support Unix printing to receive LPR request from Unix systems in general. A remote printer queue would then be defined on Solaris 10 system which points to the Windows system. However, the printing jobs kept going to tray 1 (top manual feed) even though the Windows printer queue was configured to go to tray 3 (bottom tray).
The earlier method would be simplest but needs the right driver (PDD) but I don’t know where to find it. The latter approach is also not working despite having got the right driver on Windows. A test page on the target Windows printer queue would print to tray 3 (bottom tray) of the printer correctly.
Printmgr does not work well with HP printers from experience. It is good for serial and local printers.
Your advice would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Crystal

  • I hope it's Kappy reading this. My HP Laserjet successfully installed but can't create a print queue...

Hello Kappy - Thank you for persevering with my printer issues. Firstly, I use Firefox, recently updated & as yet have not discovered how to monitor downloads. The software for HP Laserjet 2200 was eventually automaticallly, and therefore correctly, installed. The Add Printer Pane accessed via the + button in the Printer & Scanner window is blank - the Name & Location and Print Using & Add areas are all grayed out, therefore I can't locate the printer driver even though it is in the Printer folder. I messed around with HP Direct Protocol & Line Daemon functions, entering my IP address, just to see if I could locate the printer driver - I could. However, I get a pop-up window which says 'Unable to verify the printer on your network' but it gives me the option of going ahead anyway, which I did. I was able to create a print queue, able to give a print command, the printer window opens, but the printer appears as 'busy', but of course it's not printing. To look at the issue from another perspective: previously I was running 10.5.8 on my old Power Mac G5 and a week before I shifted over the iMac I paused the printer but when tried to resume printing I got a pop-up message saying IPadmin > enter administrator name + password. Which of course I couldn't do - I discovered this was a bug afflicting10.5 & 10.6 operating systems; the only way I could get around it was by re-creating myself as a new administrator, which I did, and got the printer going again. So, if I have a "Network" printer perhaps there's another route to get the driver recognized... What do you think?
