LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer

I have a HP LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer
Model: CE657A
Serial [Edited for Personal Information]
purchased Staples 10/13/13
It worked until yesterday when my ISP replaced my modem
It is connected wirelessly and now it doesn't work at all, and when I look in Control Panel, I don't see any printer
How can I get this to work again?

Hi @NYCJudy,
I understand that you had the modem replaced and now the printer isn't working over the wireless network. I can help you with this but I will need some more information to provide the proper steps, depending on what operating system you are using.
We will need to restore the defaults on the printer and then configure the printer over the network again.
What operating system are you using?

  • HP LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer - Firmware Upgrade

In her apartment, my elderly mother has an HP LaserJet Pro P1102w printer, that I set up for her.
It’s hooked up, via WiFi, to her Router that's attached to her Cable Modem.
She doesn't have her own PC. She has only the printer.
When the printer was first purchased, I brought the printer and my Windows XP laptop to her home and installed the printer there.
I email documents to her printer's HP ePrint email address, and I also print web pages to the printer using Google Cloud Print. I do this from my own home, to send her information from the Internet.
An email was received today, saying the following:
"A free firmware upgrade is required to keep your ePrint and associated Print Apps service working. Please go to www.hp.com/go/eprint, download the newest firmware, and continue using your ePrint solution. If you do not complete the upgrade, your ePrint and Print Apps may not work after Hewlett-Packard has finished a service upgrade on 08/07/2013.
Devices requiring the free firmware upgrade are as follows:
HP LaserJet Pro P1100 Series (model HP LaserJet Pro P1102w)”
Is there any way for me to use my Windows XP laptop, to connect to the printer, remotely over the Internet, via the printer's HP ePrint email address, or via the HP Connected account, or in any other way,
and initiate the printer’s firmware upgrade, without leaving my home?
    Thank you.

  • Will the HP LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer work with OSX 10.9.5?

I am looking for an affordable LaserJet printer for home. I want to know if the HP LaserJet Pro P1102w will work with OSX 10.9.5. Their website only goes up to OSX 10.7 for compatible OSX systems.

  • HP LaserJet Pro P1102w printer "Ready" for wireless printing, but gives "error -- printing" message

This P1102w printer was configured for wireless printing from two computers (WinXP and Win7), both with a network sharing designation, and all functions worked perfectly:
Printing from the WinXP computer directly, and from a networked Win2K computer as a guest.
Printing from the Win7 computer directly, and from a networked Win2K computer as a guest.
Windows Printer Test Pages were printed from both installed computers, showing correct computer names, the printer name, Port names (IP addresses), Data format (IMF), Driver information, etc.
Several days later (after new boots), the WinXP computer showed printer status as being "Ready", along with the correct printer "Type" (HP LaserJet Professional P1102w), "Where" (IP address), and "Comment" (network printing).  When a print job was submitted from Microsoft Word, the control-panel printer window first showed the message "printing", and then the message "error -- printing".  Nothing was printed.  The same results occurred when a print job was sent to the WinXP computer from the networked Win2K computer.  HP’s troubleshooting routine did not identify the error, its cause, or what can be done about it.
Successful printing continued, as before, from the Win7 computer directly, and from the networked Win2K computer to the Win7 computer as a guest.
The printer’s blue “i” network indicator lamp is lit, and all three computers continue to communicate through the hub to each other and to the Internet.
HP’s printer installation program was executed on the WinXP computer, using the “fix” option, but nothing changed.  The installation program was executed again on the WinXP computer, using the “new install” option (without removing the existing P1102w installation); the “browse” function saw the network, but no printers were found, and the installation could not be completed.
This is very perplexing.  Any suggestions?
PS:  The same problem occurred once before, and it was fixed by resetting factory defaults on the printer, hard wiring the printer to the WinXP computer through a USB cable, re-installing the printer’s wireless settings from HP’s installation disk, and repeating all of the networking and sharing setups on all three computers.  This is a lot of work that is not worth repeating, because the successful results have not been permanent.

    To:  Neonskeleton,
Thanks for your response -- especially because you are an HP employee!
My Win2k machine does not use HP software, nor communicate to the HP printer.  (HP did not write a Win2k driver for the P1102w -- and evidently no one else has done this, either.)  My WinXP and Win7 machines use their HP drivers to send print jobs to the P1102w wirelessly, and both machines have the P1102w set up as a shared printer.  Then, when I connect to those machines as a "guest" and submit a print job to those machines, those machines receive the print job and then communicate with the printer using the proper installed printer drivers.
Everything worked great with this configuration, until suddenly the printer was no longer responsive to ANY jobs coming from the WinXP machine, even though there was a "printer ready" indication on the WinXP machine, and even though the printer responded perfectly to print jobs coming from the Win7 machine.
When I tried to "fix" the WinXP setup by running HP's setup program on CD, nothing changed.  Then, when I tried to reinstall the WinXP setup for wireless printing, the program insisted that I reset THE PRINTER'S factory defaults and proceed using a USB cable -- even though I wanted to simply ADD the computer for wireless communication to an existing networked printer!  I would conclude that something screwed up the printer's inner settings (maybe an unsolicited and invisible HP update sent to my printer from the Internet?).
As I mentioned in my original post, I went through this process once before, reinstalled everything on all machines, and all was well.  Until THE SAME non-recognition problem surfaced again!
I do not want to spend any more time on this.  I went to Staples and bought a second P1102w printer (it is a nice little machine that uses a xerographic cartridge, rather than costly inkjet cartridges that frequently plug up).  I'll use a USB cable for the connection, rather than the installed wireless feature, and set up the P1102w as a shared printer.  I expect that all of my other computers will be able to link as a "guest" through the wireless hub and be able to print.
    Thanks again.

  • Printer installation stops halfway -HP LaserJet Pro P1102w

    I'm currently using Windows 8
I recently bought the HP LaserJet Pro P1102W
The problem i'm having is that halfway through the inatalltion process it brings up a window saying "waiting for you to connect the printer" but the thing is I already have it conneted. I even follow the steps that it shows. But that doesn't work at all.
I've been trying to setup using a usb connection from the printer to the computer.

    Hi @istayupallnight ,
I see that you are having issues setting up the printer on a USB connection. The computer isn't recognizing the cable being connected. I will certainly do my best to help you.
Restart the printer and make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (don't use a power hub or a surge protector) This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
Try and print a hardware self test on the printer to find out if it is a hardware issue. If the printer isn't in a Ready State, the computer won't recognize it. Printing a Configuration Page. Select Method two.
I have provided a document with some steps to try to see if that will resolve the issue. The most recent operating system listed is Windows 7. If you have any difficulty navigating to specific windows just let me know.
An 'Unable to Find Printer' Error Displays for the HP LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer.
Here is a document to turn off any programs running in the background for Windows 8 before running the install again.
How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
Please provide in detail the results if you are still having issues.

  • Prints last page twice: HP LaserJet Pro P1102w

My HP LaserJet Pro P1102w prints the last page of the last job as the first page of the new job every time.  The entire job prints every time (i.e that last page prints with the new job as the last page and also as the first page of the next job).  The printer is on my wireless network (WPA password).  I have tried rebooting the printer and there are no jobs shown in the print spool.  Any thoughts?  Thanks in advance for the help!

  • LaserJet Pro P1102w and Chromebook

I cannot connect my new Google Chromebook to my new hp LaserJet Pro P1102w printer.
The Chromebook requires an address that ends in @HPprint.com.   I have been trying to find out how to register for that email for at least an hour. Can anyone tell me how to do it? I'm ready to box this thing up and return it.  Thanks.

    Hi allglory4him,
Welcome to the HP Support forums.  I understand that you are trying to setup your Laserjet P1102w to print to it using Google Cloud Print.
To connect this printer to a wireless network you will need a traditional computer not the Chromebook. The embedded web server where you would enable the web services to get your ePrint setup can only be accessed once the printer is connected to the wireless network.   And the only way to connect it to the wireless network is through the setup using a traditional computer which supports printer drivers.
If have access to a traditional computer I have included a document on how to install the printer onto your wireless network.   Once it is connected to the wireless network, please use the document about getting the claim code to activate the web services on your printer.   I have also included a document on customizing the printer's ePrint email address to make it easier to remember.  Once you have that completed you can now setup your Google Cloud Print. I have also included a document about Google Cloud print for your reference.

  • HP Laserjet Pro P1102W not printing even though it's installed...

Hello everyone. I'm relatively new to Arch, especially new with configuring cups. I just bought an HP LaserJet Pro p1102w wireless printer. I set it up on my dads laptop via plugging it into the usb and it automatically ran the setup program and I selected to set the printer up for wifi printing. All went well and the printer works now wirelessly from his computer (Windows 7). I've been working at getting this printer to actually print without error but it refuses.
I'm trying to print from leafpad, just a simple text file with little in it other than "linux test print" in the file. The print queue states "Processing - Not connected?" then it fails and gives me the option to "diagnose" the issue. So I click Diagnose. Then it pops up with a message stating that the "print server not exporting printers". It tells me to enable  the "Publish shared printers connected to this system" through the printing administration panel which is in Gnome apparenetly (I'm in XFCE) under System>Administration>Printing from the main menu. In XFCE there is no such area.
    I have cups version 1.5.0-1
    hplip 3.11.7-2
What else should I do? Apparently the printer was installed successfully. I tried installing it and selecting the HPlip driver which installed fine but wouldn't print. Then I removed that one and installed it using the Apple driver (airprint?) and it won't print either.
I've tried searching for help but all I find is that it will work with hiplip installed... It isn't working with that installed.
I can't access the cups server via a browser. Is that the problem? I've opened the cups config page but I don't understand it and it says allow, deny under localhost or ugh i dont know, something about which users can access the server. Should I remove the "deny"??
Please help me if you can. I'm totally lost and have no idea what to do to get this printer working on my installation of arch. Arch is fully updated as of a few days ago.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
    -Brittany

I can't access the cups server via a browser. Is that the problem?
    Absolutely.
If you are starting cupsd from DAEMONS in rc.conf is it starting correctly or failing?   If your not you should be.  if it failing does start manually work?
if it's running you should be able to access via browser.  localhost:631
    also see/try

CUPS interface better option IMO tho.

    Hi there again;
This IP address 192.168.0.105 are you sure that this is the IP address of your router?
    Let's make sure, print a configuration page for your printer; on how to do so follow this;
Windows Vista : Click the Windows icon ( ), click Control Panel , and then double-click Printers .
Right-click the icon for your product, click Printing Preferences , and then click the Services tab.
From the Print Information Pages drop-down list, click Configuration Page , and then click Print .
Is the 192.168.0.105  address what you see as the IP address for the printer.
Is this address outside of the DHCP range?  (To see what is the DHCP range of your router refer to your router manual or insternet service provider ISP if the latter provide you the router.)
    Hope this helps!

  • Is Samsung SL-M2022W and HP Laserjet Pro P1102W airprint compatible?

    Hi
Samsung SL-M2022W is mobile print compatible via samsung's ios app but is it airprint compatible?
HP Laserjet Pro P1102W is not listed as airprint compatible in the airprint apple page but it is in the HP support.
So anyone has experience in these two?
    thanx

IF it isn't compatible then see if their is an app that will allow you to print to it.
IF there is no app, then you can't use that printer to print from your Apple devices.

  • LaserJet Pro P1102w dropping connection

I hope someone can help. We have been having a long term issue with our HP LaserJet Pro P1102w wifi printer keeping a stable connection to our network. It connects to our network via wifi. It is in a high signal wifi area of the office.
In the printer network settings I have tried setting the printers IP as static and also tried it as dynamic being assigned by our DHCP server.
The problem is the printer keeps randomly dropping connection in that we can no longer print to the printer / access the printers webpage or ping the printer. The problems is fixed by either powering down and restarting the printer or if you leave the printer after a period of time the printer will once again be contactable (by doing nothing).
I have updated the printers firmware, computers printer drivers. Checked network settings but just cannot resolve the issue.
    It's driving me crazy!

    Thanks for the clarification Angus,
Try disabling the Auto Off feature, this current configuration actually turns the printer Off after 5 minutes idle (Any key pressing will turn the printer On, but any remote command as printing or accessing the printer page will fail..
You may enter the EWS by entering the printer IP through Safari.
    Enter the Settings tab.
Select Print Settings and turn the Auto Off after as Never.
Click Apply and reboot the device, then check for any change.
Now reboot the device and check for any chnage,

  • HP LaserJet Pro P1102w offline for win xp

    Hi!
    My problem is that:
I'm using my pc (win xp) and when I must print a document, I see that my Hp laserjet pro P1102w is offline. If I find printer with ip on browser it is there but system not recognise printer. I tried to disconnect printer and pc, I tried to disinstall and to reinstall all software and some new installing but xp never recognise printer in wifi. When I connect printer with usb became online also if configure printer connection in wifi. I'm sure that I installed printer via wifi, not usb. If i use my smartphone, printer is ok and print correctly. I tried to restore all xp services.  I can't format pc because I've some sensitive software .
    Help me please.
    Thank you very much
    Andreas

    Hi @Andreas89 ,
I see by your post that the printer is showing offline when trying to print through the wireless network, but you can print with the Smart Phone and you can access the printer's Embedded Web Server by the IP address. I will certainly do my best to help you.
Download and run the Print and Scan Doctor. It will diagnose the issue and might automatically resolve it. Find and fix common printer problems using HP diagnostic tools for Windows?
If you are still having issues, check the IP address on the computer to make sure it matches the printer's IP address.
Go to Start, Control Panel, Printers and Faxed, right click the printer, go to Printer Properties, select the Ports tab, click on Configure Port.
If they don't match then close the configure port window and click create a port and follow the wizard.
Type in the proper IPv4 address.
Make sure the printer is online.
    Test the printer.
I have provided this document to setup a Static IP address for the printer, to prevent this from happening in the future.
Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection.
Go to Solution four: Assign your printer a static IP address under the Windows link.
What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor? (did it print or scan, any error messages)
If you need further assistance, just let me know.
