Laserwriter IIf, Tiger, legal size paper printing problem

I have a Laserwriter IIf and use manual feed to print on legal size paper. Since I upgraded to Tiger I am unable to properly print on legal size paper using either Word or PDF files. The top 3 inches or so of the document are missing. I have another computer on the network using OS 10.1.5 and legal size documents print correctly from it. I have tried both of the Laserwriter IIf drivers (v2010.130 and v2010.113). I would appreciate any help anyone can give me. And also, can anyone tell me the difference in the two drivers??
Thanks
  Mac OS X (10.4.2)

(v2010.130 and v2010.113)
Those are the two versions of the PostScript ROMs that were shipped in LaserWriter IIf and IIg printers. The vast majority were the .113 version. If you "configure automatically" in printer set up, it will go ask the printer which one it has, and configure the driver correctly. The differences are fairly subtle in normal use.
On the letter/legal problem:
It may be that your new Mac OS is not saving (or not correctly interpreting) the page setup stored with your documents. If that were the case, re-selecting the paper size you want in Page Setup or the print dialog box should rectify the situation.

  • Printing on legal size paper

I have an hp psc1210 and I can print on legal size paper from my desktop, but when I am on my laptop that is on the network, I can't print on legal size paper.  If I am using word perfect, the software automatically adjusts the bottom margin to 3.48" so that only what is visable on a letter size page is printed and in word it cuts off any characters below the letter size area.  Any suggestions for solving this problem?

    hi there,
It seems that you have a software incompatibility between your word perfect and the psc, pls. try these steps:
add a universal driver on your computer
=open printers and faxes or printers
    =click add a printer
    =select add a local printer
=if your printer is connected via usb cable on your desktop, pls select on use existing ports and choose usb virtual port xxx
=if your desktop is connected via ethernet cable, pls.select create a new port and choose standard tcp/ip port and click next
(for network connection only: if it will ask to enter your ip address pls. print the ip address from your printer and enter it on the computer) and click next
=if it will ask for the manufacturer, pls. select hp on the left
=on the right side find hp deskjet 990c and click next
    =use existing driver
    =set as default printer
=you can rename the printer to psc 1210
    =try printing again
if the issue still not resolved, uninstall and reinstall the printer software
    pls. reply for further assistance

  • Printing "Legal" size paper on both sides

I have an Officejet 7680 All-in-One that I'm unable to print on both sides of "legal" size paper.
Can print on just one side just right and proper.  However, even when "clicking" the appropriate boxes/items,
"legal" size stock wil print on one side only......(There's gotta be a four letter word to cover this situation!)
Pray tell, how did I screw this one up?????

  • Photoshop can't print legal-size image to legal-size paper

I go through a lot of sketch stages to get to a final picture, and I sometimes print on legal paper. My Brother printer does fine at that with Apple Pages, MSWord, Acrobat, and Illustrator, but with Photoshop there's a problem. I set up a legal-size image in PS, go through all the settings I can find for printing to a non-letter-format sheet, hit print, and what I get is a letter-size patch of image on a legal-size sheet. Clearly, either I am missing something or PS is missing something. Any ideas or suggestions?

The problem persists. This has gone on for months, but now I've updated to OSX 10.9.1 and the latest Brother printer drivers. I still get legal sheets bearing letter-sized information. So far, the only answer anyone has had is to check every possible place where the paper size is defined. Right. How many of those are there? 2? 3? 4? See attached screen grab: I don't know what it's doing there, but the black patch at the bottom of the image corresponds to the cutoff area on the print. It shows up when I check the box "Print selected area". Otherwise, all the sizes and labels i can find are legal-paper sizes and labels. So how do I get rid of the black box? Note that, below, the "Print selected area" box is unchecked

  • How to print onto a legal size paper

I'm trying to print a document sent to me as an original PDF 8.5 x 16 document onto a legal size page (8.5 x 14).  I don't have the advanced skills necessary to print in Adobe beyond the basics, and don't have the time to take a course or read the confusing help instructions (e.g., "tiling", "scaling").  I'm hoping someone on this board can simply tell me how to print this document step-by-step.  I have Windows XP with Acrobat Pro 9.0
    Your assistance is greatly appreciated!

Using AA9, these are the steps I just used to create a 8.5X14 page from another PDF (Note: any bookmarks and links will be lost and would have to be replaced):
    1. Opened the PDF in Acrobat.
    2. Select FILE>Print
    3. Select the Adobe PDF printer.
    4. Select printer properties.
    5. On Adobe PDF Settings tab, you may select the press (Press Quality) or print (High Quality Print) job options.
    6. On either of the other tabs select the Advanced button.
    7. Under Paper/Output>Paper Size, select Legal.
    8. OK back to the print menu and select Page Scaling=>Fit to Printable Area.
    9. OK to print -- select the file name and location, hopefully with successful results. (I checked the PDF I created from a Letter size and it was 8.5X14)

  • Acrobat Scanning with CM1312nfi MFP. Can't change from legal size paper

I've had the same problem with mulitple versions of Adobe Acrobat, but most recenlty with version XI Standad.
All my scans using the Acobat interface result in legal size scans using the ADF, instead of letter size.   When I try to "Configure Preset"  the Paper Size is set to "Automatic" and there are no other options available in the drop down box.
I have to do a custom scan and manually select the paper size using the HP interface, but I would like to use the Acrobat interface instead due to the volume of scans I perform.
In Acrobat the Scanner is identified as "WIA- HP CLJ CM1312 Scan".   I am running Windows 8.1 64 bit.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers and Acrobat, but the problem persists.
    All help appreciated.  Thanks.

Not sure if this is the same problem I'm having. I have a HP C5180, and when I go to print I get all the necessary options (by dropping down the traingle as advised above), and all's great..... apart from the Source tray is always set to Main Tray instead of the Photo.
I can change it each time I print, but it won't stay defaulted to Photo Tray even when I save or 'Save as' a new Preset. I have tried to overwrite the default ones, but no go, and also saved as a new Preset, but it still doesn't come up as the default selection next time I go in to print.
Sounds easy enough to cope with I know, but I've set it up for a 84 year old to print from and I don't expect she'll manage to do this change every time.

  • How to force a printer to use legal size paper.

Oracle Reports has had a problem since the earliest versions. It doesn't handle different paper sizes well. We have a report
written in the 2.5 version of reports. If you specify LEGAL in the page setup, everything prints great. If you call the report
from a form it always prints using the default papersize for the printer. Selecting a paper tray is not an option because the
printer in question has only one tray bay and if it requests legal, you have to put a different tray in (HP4V). I put in a tar about
it and the response was setup a special PRT file to handle legal. The problem is that the PRT and the before and after printer
codes are only used it you have a character report. If you have a bitmapped report they are ignored (not oracles finest moment).
Does anyone have any ideas of functions that can help (are you listening Duncan Mills?)

I found a methoid that while clumsy, works. I have defined another printer on my windows machine that points to the same
printer as my original printer defination. I have named this printer "Legal" and has defined legal paper as it's default. When
I print to this printer( DECTYPE, DECNAME) it now defaults to legal.

  • Order Paper printing problem

    Dear friends,
Whenever I try to print order papers, I get a termination error with a message CO901 "Program error (contact your system administrator)". When I tried for a solution at the services.sap.com/notes site I came to know about a note SAP Note 488598, but when I applied I got an error message of unable to implement the same. I checked the pdf of the same and this note is for earlier releases not for the latest ones. Can some body please help me in the same either by providing an updated note or some code, or any solution for the same.
    Thanks & regards

Yes, I have solved my problem. It seems that there are specific drivers for both roll printing and borderless printing. Find your Printer Setup Utility. Mine was in the Utilities folder inside my Applications folder. Use Spotlight to find if you want. Double click it and a window should open showing your printers list. Click on the Add button at the top of the window to open Printer Browser window. Without selecting the printer(s) in the list, click the More Printers button at the bottom of the window. This will show a drop down window with your printer(s) in a list. Select your printer in THIS list. Then look at the bottom of that window at the drop down menu titled: Page Setup. It probably reads Standard. If you look at that menu you will see several drivers that do such things as printing on roll paper. Select the one(s) you want then click the add button each time. That's it! (That's enough!) Now, when you go to print dialogue and you choose which printer to use, there will be separate choice(s) for roll printing, borderless printing, etc. I got most of this from other postings but in all cases the instructions were incomplete or inaccurate in some way. Hope this works for you.

  • HP J4580 problem printing legal size after downloading Windows 10

I downloaded Windows 10 yesterday.  Last night I finished a spreadsheet (8 1/2 x 14) and attempted to print it out.  No go.  It wanted to print on letter size.  So, I tried to reset the paper size, but it wasn't on the list.  Microsoft says that I probably need to update drivers.  So, I go to HP and am told that I'm up to date with drivers.  Now what do I do?  I need to be able to print on legal size paper.  I hope someone here can help me.

Did you download this software for the printer ? http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL31046/mp-109152-2/OJ_AIO_J4500_Full_Win_WW_140_404-4.exe Have you run Windows update to check that you have all the updates needed?

  • OJ Pro 8500: I can't print legal size or make copies of legal size documents

I have not found a combination of settings which will result in a legal size print out or copy.
    Any help?

Okay, first of all, you need to have legal size paper in the main tray. If you haven't done this, the front white tray part pulls out further to facilitate legal size paper in the input tray.
For copying legal size to legal size paper, follow these instructions:
You can set the paper size on the device. The paper size you select should match
what is loaded in your input tray.
*To set the paper size from the device control panel (color display)
    1. Touch COPY and then select Copy Paper Size.
    2. Select the appropriate paper size.
    3. Press START COPY Black or START COPY Color.
*To set the paper size from the device control panel (two-line display)
    1. In the Copy area, press COPY repeatedly until Copy Paper Size appears.
    2. Press the right arrow, , until the appropriate paper size appears, and then press OK.
    3. Press START COPY Black or START COPY Color.
For printing from Windows, use these instructions:
*Change settings from an application for current jobs (Windows)
    To change the settings
    1. Open the document that you want to print.
    2. On the File menu, click Print, and then click Setup, Properties, or Preferences.
(Specific options may vary depending on the application that you are using.)
    3. Select the appropriate printing shortcut,y and then click OK, Print, or a similar
    command.
*Change default settings for all future jobs (Windows)
    To change the settings
    1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Printers or Printers and Faxes.
         - Or -
Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Printers.
NOTE: If prompted, enter your administrator password.
    2. Right-click the printer icon, and then click Properties, General Tab, or Printing
    Preferences.
    3. Change the settings that you want, and then click OK.

  • Landscape, Legal size bitmaps on NT

I'm trying to successfully register a bitmap report in Applications.
The report is landscape and legal size. The server is NT.
I can output to letter size (using Postscript or PCL), but I can't get the report to print on to legal size paper.
I have tried escape sequences in the driver setup in Applications, but looking at the PCL out file, the letter size escape sequence is present instead.
I have set the concurrent manager Options field with the parameter PAGESIZE=14x8.5
I have all sections of the report set to 14 x 8.5 inches (header, body, trailer).
The report is set to bitmap.
The output is fine when sent from the client machine during development (whether PCL, Postscript or PDF)
Yes, I am using Reports 6i.
No, I can't figure it out.
I admit that it is not clear whether the initialization string is even being sent - seeing that it is a bitmap report and not a character based report.
Can anyone out there fill me in how to get the report to print on legal size paper.
Thanks to anyone who offers suggestions.

  • Officejet pro x476dw legal sized paper adf scan

    Hi,
I have been using officejet pro x476dw for 6months, and I figured out that I can't scan 2-sided legal sized document.
Is it impossible to scan 2-sided legal size documents on ADF?
Do I have to scan them MANUALLY?
If this machine doesn't support 2-sided legal paper scanning, is there any other ways to make this work easy?
I often have to scan over 40 pages with 2-sided legal sized paper..
    Please help me out experts....TT
I heard, Ricoh and Canon offer some drive to make it possible using software..
Does HP offer this kind of software too?...TT

The tray can be extended for legal size paper.  Remove the tray and note the blue release lever on the left side.  Releasing this lever will allow expanding the tray to legal size.  After expanding the tray move the center slider to provide appropriate alignment of the loaded paper.

  • Size of print from eprint

The print is miniscule, how is it controled
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hello johnr11,
The size of ePrint jobs is controlled by either the email client that the job is being sent form, or by the file definitions, if it is an attachment.  The way to change the size that prints out may be to adjust the font size in the email, or in the file you are trying to print.  Another cause of this is if something that is ment to print on legal size is printed on letter size.  You may need to adjust your settings on the ePrintCenter account to match the paper size of the job.

  • Printing Problems since 10.4.0

My problems with printing have not improved from 10.4.0-10.4.3. I still have problems with epson printer utility. On any machine with tiger, it will just crash on launch.
I've tried re-installing the drivers, then I figured 10.4.3 would have fixed it since their were around 600 bug fixes (including printing). But, nope, still not working. I then tried going to the printer preferences and remove the printer and then re-add it to then find out the printer would not work at all. So just to get printing back I had to install gimp-print drivers so that i could at least print again. I am very frustrated with this problem. No Epson printers that I have dealt with work right with tiger. I love tiger but hate the printer problems.
My machine is very clean, I do regular maintenance. Does anyone have any advice, or is everyone having the same problems.

I am on a G4, installed Tiger and could not get my printers to work. I have an older Epson Stylus Color 900 and a new HP Business Injet 2800. I called Apple and went through a variety of steps unplugging everything, removing, then adding printer in print utility and the usual stuff. That got the HP going but still nothing from the Epson. Apple suggested contacting EPSON (i.e., I have no solution). I emailed EPSON tech support and they actually provided a solution that works, if you follow the steps carefully. Here's what they sent:
"Thank you for contacting the Epson Connection.
Please follow the instructions below to completely remove and reinstall the
resident Epson driver package for your printer. You can leave the printer
    on and connected throughout.
    REMOVE FILES
    1. Double click on the MAC HARD DRIVE.
    2. Double click on the LIBRARY folder.
    3. Double click on the PRINTERS folder.
    4. Drag the EPSON folder to the trash can.
    5. Close any open windows.
    6. Double click on the MAC HARD DRIVE.
    7. Double click on the LIBRARY folder.
    8. Double click on the RECEIPTS folder.
    9. Delete any "Epson" receipts.
    10. Close all open windows and restart your computer.
    REINSTALL THE EPSON DRIVER PACKAGE
    1. Insert your Mac OS X 10.4 Install disc. Open CD when it appears on the
    desktop.
    2. Find and double-click on the Optional Installs.mpkg.
    3. After the installer opens, choose the following custom install options:
-Check "Printer drivers" and use arrow next to this entry to expand this
    category.
-Check "Epson" below the "Printer drivers" heading. (You do not need to
    install other manufacturer's packages.)
    4. Click "Install" and follow prompts to reinstall the resident Epson
printer driver package. Restart the computer after installation is
    complete.
    READD THE PRINTER
    1. Go into HD > Applications > Utilities and open the Printer Setup
Utility. The "Printer List" window appears.
    2. Highlight and delete any existing references to your Epson printer. (If
you want to be thorough and do not have any other printers on the Mac,
choose "Printer Setup Utility" from the top of the screen and "Reset
Printing System". Confirm resetting the system. This clears any existing
printer entries and queues. If you have other printers on the Mac and use
this reset, you will need to readd them later.)
    3. Click ADD. Printer Browser window appears. (At this point your Epson
printer must be on and connected.)
    4. Highlight the desired Epson printer model and click the MORE PRINTERS
button at the bottom of the window. (Do not change any other fields.)
    5. A window now opens which is identical to 10.2. and 10.3, where you can
select EPSON USB (for a USB cable connection) or EPSON FIREWIRE (for a
firewire connection) at the top of the screen. Highlight your printer's
name and then hit ADD to return to the Printer List with all available
printer/layout options now showing. (If you are unable to see the full
description under "Kind" you may need to expand the Printer Setup Utility
window or extend the "Kind" column to make this visible.)
    6. Then, when you have opened a photo and are ready to print, go to File >
Page Setup and File > Print in the program you are printing from and ensure
that the specific printer/layout option you want to use is also selected as
    "Printer" or "Format for".
I now have both my printers back. I was starting to think I never would. Not sure that this will work for you, but trying email EPSON via their web site.
