Last.fm won't Scrobble on Spotify

Firstly, I'm new to the whole Spotify/Scrobbling scene & I'm just trying to figure things out (please don't hurt me.) Anyways, I'm having trouble getting my Last.fm app showing up under the Main tab on my Spotify - where it should be just under the Radio. I already linked my account to Last.fm from Spotify but every time I try to scrobble Last.fm from the website it opens my Spotify & says:
There was a problem displying your view! This view either does not exist or an error occured.
Suggestions?

I guess you mean the old Last.fm for Spotify app? All these external apps do not work anymore in the Spotify desktop clients since v1.0.x, see e.g. this closed idea: http://community.spotify.com/t5/Spotify-Ideas/Keep-the-old-app-API-in-the-desktop-software-for-existing-apps/idi-p/966895
So you cannot install it anymore in the Spotify client, and trying it leads to an error message. To simply scrobble to your Last.fm account, you only have to connect the internal scrobbling option of the client to Last.fm, see this pinned thread in the support group with screenshots, you don't need the old app for scrobbling at all.

  • Last played won't update from sync

A couple of days ago I started up iTunes and it asked to accept the license agreement. When I clicked agree my library came up but all my Last Played and play counts had been erased. I reloaded an old library from six months ago and then tried to sync my iPods to update my last played counts but it only worked for about 300 files. I have over 40000 mp3s in my library. I know if you change the file in iTunes it won't sync but there's no way that many files have been changed in six months. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

With more testing, it turns out to be just Wow Hits 2012.   All my other iTunes-Store-purchased music is updating properly.

  • Local songs won't stream via Spotify after playing locally and being removed.

I have an external hard drive I use to store all the songs I own. For everything else, there's Spotify. Sometimes I unplug my external hard drive and play music that I own via Spotify instead. Spotify used to be able to clearly distinguish between these and integrate them seamlessly. But with the new update (0.8.8.450gd...), these are very confused. The moment I plugged in my hard drive and played a song on my playlist, it switched the file source from Spotify to local, and it will not change back. Even after I unplug my hard drive and restart Spotify, problem not solved. In addition, there is no way to know if I'm dragging a local file or a Spotify song to my playlists, which leaves all my playlists absolutely unreliable until this is fixed. It could stop at any time if I don't have my external drive plugged in, which is not ideal. Any help would be appreciated.

Same issue. This has always been a problem for me with Spotify, for the last few years.
I have a lot of CD-ripped lossless files in my iTunes, so it's great Spotify lets me play those higher quality versions. However, if my external HD with my iTunes library files on it is not connected (which is any time my laptop isn't at my desk), there is no way to play that music without permanently unlinking the file.
It's a crummy situation. Spotify will play music I never bought outright via CD just fine. But if Spotify ever gets a whiff of a file being part of the iTunes library, and that file is not able to be loaded at that moment, then it will refuse to let you stream the track. It makes no sense.
The solution to this is that Spotify should play local audio files for tracks when they are accessible, and stream them when they are not. That was part of the whole point of subscribing to a cloud-based music streaming service in the first place for me.

  • Why can't I redownload my music over icloud, eventhough most of my songs downloaded just the last few won't.

I got a new iPhone 5s and I was re-downloading my songs, most of them worked but the last 100 didn't. I don't know the problem please help, it just keeps coming up ad can not download at this time. I tried again at several other times no change. Any idea what I should do?

If you have restored your device (which sounds like what you have done) and your music was not backed up and has been deleted off your PC, then there is no way of recovering it. The iTunes store only allows the download of purchased music once. However, if you live in the US you can access iTunes in the Cloud beta, which allows you to re-download your purchased music within iTunes. This service will launch later in the year for those not in the US.
You must make sure you back-up all your purchased media. The new iTunes in the Cloud service will alleviate the need to do this, but its still limited to the US-only at the moment.

  • Last Chapter won't work after creating DVD

Created movie in FCE with 5 chapter markers added. Last one is at the start of credits. When I add this movie to idvd everything looks good. All chapter markers are there and work, both in mocie and from scenes submenu. But after I compile and save dvd to .dmg file the last chapter I created will not work from the scenes submenu though it still works from the movie. Any thoughts......

Did you make any edits to your movie after putting it into iDVD? There is a bug in iDVD that causes incorrect playback of chapters if you change anything in the movie.
There is no 'fix' for this...you have to recreate your iDVD project.

  • Premium won't connect to spotify on my phone

I recently subscribed to spotify premium, but I cannot get it to connect on my Iphone. It says that I am still using a "free subscritpion", I have already tried logging out and redownloading the app -- and help would be much appreiated!!

Can you verify that your account (username or email) has Premium?- You can check this by login onto: https://www.spotify.com/nl/account/overview/ If so, I believe this is the first time you use your Spotify account on an mobile device? It was for example not logged in with an different account before?

  • Iphoto screwed up. Last roll won't update

My last roll is dated 2007. It will not update to the last 2009 photos.
I deleted the plist file but its still screwed up.
It shows the proper photos in the last month selection but not in the last roll.

Try the following: delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder, launch iPhoto and see if that helps.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: iPhoto 8's new option in the library rebuild pane, "Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" may make this tip obsolete. We'll know when users have occasion to use it and see if that's the case.

  • [Windows Phone] Lumia 640 won't connect to Spotify via mobile data

    Microsoft Lumia 640
    T-Moblie
    Unlimited data
    Spotify Premium
For whatever reason, Spotify refuses to allow me to use it on a mobile network.  I see no settings to change this.  Under "Settings -> Offline & Sync" it identifies my connection type as "WiFi" and will not change to mobile data, just say "Spotify is offline" and "Spotify cannot be reached on this connection".
What am I missing here?  I have no problem streaming anything else (iHeartRadio, if it *ever* works, Xbox Music, Xbox Music Radio, TuneInRadio, MixRadio) except this app - which *should* also be covered by T-Mobile's music freedom.  What's going on here?  Getting annoying as I primarily use Spotify in the car.

    Microsoft Lumia 1020
    T-Moblie
    Unlimited data
Spotify Premium I have the same issue since I have updated my Lumia to the latest technical preview of Windows Phone 10. Before the update (first TP of WP10) everything was fine! And I am not able to use some apps for sending/receiving files (for example WhatsApp) via data connection. I have no idea what´s going wrong =(

  • I write Journals on iphoto but with ios8 the journal goes away so I haven't upgraded. However, a journal I was working on last week won't function now. What should I do?

The journal function of iphoto is going away with ios8 so I haven't upgraded as I have a journal I am working on and several I want to save. The journal function will now not let me write in it and it won't save to itunes. Help.

No, not paired to anything else, fresh out the box connected to the mac mini I bought at the same time, never been paired with anything else.
I think it's a hardware issue. As I don't seem to be able to get it to turn off.

  • "Last Played" won't update on iTunes-purchased songs

I've had great joy using the variable "Least Recently Played" to create Smart Playlists. But certain things are not updating properly now, with 10.5.3.3
    Here's the table:
Ripped Music, iPod Touch Gen 3:  UPDATES PROPERLY.
Ripped Music, played in Win7 iTunes, UPDATES PROPERLY
Purchased Music, iPod Touch Gen 3:  DOESN'T UPDATE
Purchased Music, played in Win7 iTunes:  UPDATES PROPERLY.
I haven't done a full-blown matrix of experimentation of the whole library, but  the one album I noticed it from is Wow 2012 Hits.
I've seen some discussion of similar problems, but not to this fine detail.  Thanks for listening.
I also noted that iTunes isn't updating video podcasts correctly.

With more testing, it turns out to be just Wow Hits 2012.   All my other iTunes-Store-purchased music is updating properly.

  • Web player not scrobbling to last.fm

I use the web player and it doesn't scrobble but if I use the app it will. I uninstalled the app to see if that was the problem but it wasn't - still won't scrobble from web player. I checked to see that spotify was connected to my last.fm and it is. When will this be fixed?

    Hi Guys
This week I changed the last.fm scrobbling a little bit, and the changes should be out to you by the end of this week.
    1)  I removed the batching on scrobbling:  Previously it worked a bit like this - the first song went immediately, then the next 3 songs were batched, then the next 5, then after that 10 songs at once were sent.  This could make it seem like scrobbling wasn't happening as it would only attempt to scrobble every 10 songs.  Now, every song will be scrobbled after 30 or so seconds.
    2)  We will now send last.fm album names alongside track and artist.
Hopefully number 1 will help us see who is having scrobbling problems, without having the batching confusing things.
    Cheers!
    Dan

  • Updated itunes and now it won't play any of my music, updated itunes and now it won't play any of my music

i updated my itunes, and now it won't play any of my music. i tried deleting it and reinstalling itunes, but it still is doing the same thing: whenever i click on a song, it looks like it's going to play (and my last.fm thing starts scrobbling it) but it just doesn't play the song, ever. it sits there, with the play button played. i am so frustrated with itunes, and i have no idea how to resolve this.

  • [All Platforms][Other] Last.fm With Account, Not Client

I'm a user of Last.fm and I love that Spotify let's me use it in every device I use Spotify. But whenever I change my phone or unninstall Spotify by some reason anywhere, I have to fill my credentials again to let Spotify scrobble my music into my Last.fm account. As a feature request, it'd be great to have this Last.fm integration but within the account and not the client. Let's hipothetically say that we have a log in option into Last.fm in My Profile section of Spotify (Web). If we'd use that, we wouldn't need to log the credentials for Last.fm again on another device, and just by signing in with Spotify account we could start listening to music without worrying if the songs were being scrobbled or not.

Updated: 2015-07-28Hello and thanks for the feedback!
Any news regarding this request will be announced in the original idea topic here:

  • IPod touch 4g won't turn on and my home button is broken

My iPod touch that I just got last March won't turn on after putting it to "sleep" while I was in class today. My Home Button does not respond that well so I used SBSettings as an alternative. I've encountered this situation before but my Home Button was 100% working back then. I resolved it by holding the Home Button and the Power Button at the same time. Now that my Home Button is broken, I can't fix it anymore. Does anyone know any alternatives on how to fix this?
