Last model Macbook Pro with matte screen (not anti-glare)

Hello,
Does anyone know what the model number for the last produced 17" MacBook Pro with a true matte screen is? Alternatively, what was the last 15" model number, if it was later?
Thank you,
SB

To answer your question, we'd need to know how you are defining "true matte screen". Have you looked at the current MBP displays and decided they aren't a "true" enough matte for you?

  • Does Apple sell MacBook Pros with matte screens?

Do the non retina MacBook Pro's or MacBook Airs come with  matte screens?  I have read that their was an option for this, but have been unable to find it.

Not any more.  That was available on the 15" and 17" non retina models which are lo longer offered.
I have read that the current retina MBPs  have displays that are 'in between'  the old glossy and matte displays.
    Ciao.

  • MacBook Pro with Retina display not transferring new songs.

I have the 15" MacBook Pro with Retina display. When I plug my iPod classic (4th gen) into my MacBook, my iTunes does not display that it has been connected as it does with my iPhone. However, screen on my iPod shows that it is connected. Also, my newly purchased songs are not getting transferred from my iTunes to my iPod.

What have you tried so far in terms of troubleshooting this issue? Are you plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port on the back of your Mac?  Have you tried another USB cable just in case?
What happens if you try to reset the device with it still connected to the Mac?

  • Would be an Macbook Pro with Retina screen with 128gb ssd enough?

    Heya there!
I'm gonna begin with college in 2 months in The Netherlands.
I am gonna do Programming such as: Php, html, jquery, mysql and much more. (It must be to have microsoft office on my laptop, and I guess also adobe PS, Illustrator, dreamweaver and much more..)
I'm thinking of buying a macbook pro with 8gb and 128 gb ssd, but im consired if 128 gb is enough...
Should I get a macbook pro with 256gb ssd and 8 gb ram for € 1.407,23, or a macbook pro with 8 gb ram and 128 gb ssd for: € 1.314,06..
I will also get a 70 euro giftcard, what should I buy which would be good for me to take with to the college?
    Greets,

I suggest that you contact the department at the school where you will be studying and pose that question to them.  Understand that at the present time, there are no third party storage options available allowing you to increase storage.  If you exceed the storage of the MBP, you will be forced to rely on an external HDD.
    Ciao.

  • Should I get the 15 inch MacBook Pro with HD screen or regular screen?

    Hi,
I'm going to buy a new MacBook Pro 15 inch (I think the highest configuration), but I'm debating whether I should get the HD screen or not (most likely the glossy screen - I know the anti-glare is probably more functional but I think the glossy just looks a lot better.....). I've read that there can be problems with the screen (text too small or things like that). I just want to know, is the HD screen worth it or should I just stick with the regular screen?
    Thanks for your input!

I was in the USA last month and decided to get the 15" with the best spec available, so I wouldn't kick myself later. It came with the HD display - I specifically wanted the anti-glare. My previous 15" MBP also had the anti-glare option. Maybe it's a personal choice, but I prefer the anti-glare display - I hate looking into a display, and seeing a reflection of what is behind me on my display.
Anyway, I'm really happy with my purchase, and would make the same purchase if I had to do it again. I'm not too sure I can notice much difference in the HD display compared to my older 15 " though, pictures look pretty much the same (great), but maybe it's only noticeable working with very high quality graphics and images. Good luck, I'm sure you will be happy with the purchase

  • Macbook Pro with Vista does NOT connect to 802.11n

I have a Macbook Pro running Vista and a wifi Linksys WRT350 access point/router, which does 802.11b/g/n. The Macbook Pro only connect to the access point at 802.11g 54Mbps the access point is set to mix-mode. If I set the access point to only 802.11n, the Macbook Pro cannot connect to the access point. If I use bootcamp to load the Mac OS X, the Mac OS X is able to connect to 802.11n. The signal level is pretty good on Vista ad Mac OS X.
    Any ideas?

Usually when connecting a camera only the SD card is mounted, so it is normal to see only the SD card mounted on the Desktop. The camera is not actually the device, rather the SD card (and interface) is. Apparently System Information does report correctly on the camera itself.
Be sure to check at Epson's support site for an updated driver compatible with Lion. You can also download the latest drivers package from Apple: Epson Printer Drivers v2.9 OS X.
Of importance is if the scanner is working. If it is working, then it really doesn't matter, except cosmetically, that the device is reported as a printer. You can report that to Apple via Apple Feedback.

  • Older macbook pro with broken screen and secondary monitor

So I have an old 2007 macbook pro that was upgraded to mountain lion (I don't remember what version of it though). The screen broke and I'm trying to hook it up to my tv to use it as a screen as a quick fix for now. Of course, it's opening on the second desktop but I need it to open to my normal desktop without being able to see my main screen. Is that possible, and if so, how? Ps. The disc drive doesn't work either so that can't be used.

If you intend to install Leopard, I suppose you have an old MBP, right?
On mine (2007 Core2duo alu, grey keyboard), I can use F7 key to switch display when using an external screen. Does it help?
I'd advise you not to use an external drive, but install your external drive (provided it's 2.5") in your MBP.

  • Macbook Pro with external screen

    Hello guys!
    First my setup:
    Macbook Pro 2011 13" Low-spec.
    Acer 24" FullHD external screen.
    Apple keyboard.
    Wireless mouse.
Now what i want to do with this is, i want to have my macbooks lid open, but the screen shut off, so i can use the great resolution of my Acer screen.
    What i've been trying:
Have both open at same time in mirroring mode - MBP's resolution is "default" but my Acer screen turns to a REALLY REALLY bad resolution. Even though it's still set to it's default as 720p it's really bad. Now if i turn it to another resolution on my acer screen, it's just still bad.
Because of that, i've been trying to close the lid - This gives me a really great resolution on my Acer screen, and it's all sharp and nice. But as soon as i open the lid of my macbook pro, it goes back to the really bad resolution. Now you may wonder why i can't use it with the lid close - Because i want to use the inbuilt microphone for "Ventrillo" maybe the trackpad too, and being able to use the webcam too would be perfect.
So the question is: How do i turn the screen of my macbook of, so my Acer screen can have it's great resolution, and still be able to take advantage of the macbooks inbuilt luxury stuff.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
    Over and out.

You don't have to turn off the built-in display to use the Acer at its maximum resolution. Just turn off Mirroring in Displays Preferences, and you can set each display's resolution independently of the other. In Mirrored mode, both displays always operate at exactly the same resolution.

  • External monitor for macbook pro with dead screen

Macbook pro built in 2007 has a dead screen but is otherwise ok. Connected external monitor displays only the astral starburst screen on all macs. How can I get the monitor to display my desktop if I can't see the macbook screen?

Connected external monitor displays only the astral starburst screen on all macs.
Then it is working as designed.
By default, the external screen is combined with the built-in screen into an Extended Desktop, as seen in the Arrange tab below. You need to (Gather Windows) to get all controls on all displays, then drag the tiny white MenuBar to the display where you want it to appear. Then things will begin to operate as you expect.

  • MacBook Pro with Retina Display not hibernating

My MacBook Pro w/ Retina Display doesn't always hibernate when I shut it. A couple of times I've left it shut overnight and when I grab it in the morning the battery is completely drained. All my energy preferences are set to conserve power. Am I missing a setting somewhere?

  • Macbook pro core i7 high res anti-glare screen garbled graphics

My two month old macbook pro consistently (once every day or two) produces a garbled up screen after using it for a few hours. The only way to resolve this is to restart the computer. I've talked with apple support and have gone into the store for help and so far everyone is clueless and offer no real advice. I can't take a screenshot on the machine once this occurs, the picture just comes up blank, but I did take pictures with my cellphone.

Has anyone else had a similar issue and is this most likely a graphics hardware error?

Drm31078, it sounds like you've made up your mind what the problem is and decided to wait for it to fix itself. In light of ryanfitz's experience, which now indicates that the problem occurs when using each of his two GPUs, I question your conclusions that there's a graphics switching problem and that Apple's basic software is at fault, simply because there are thousands of other users with the same machine and the same Apple software who aren't seeing the same behavior. Therefore, I recommend that you run the extended Apple Hardware test repeatedly in hopes that it will eventually detect an intermittent hardware fault, bearing in mind that if there's a fault in the video cable or the LCD panel, AHT can't and won't detect it. And I recommend showing your pictures to a Genius or an authorized service technician for evaluation. A single Apple employee's failure to detect a hardware problem is not conclusive evidence that none exists, and I don't think there's any good reason to dismiss that possibility out of hand on the basis of what you've seen and heard so far.

Your model has two GPUs or video chips. One is integrated into the processor. The other is a standalone graphic processor. In other words it is "discrete" with respect to the other, integrated graphic processor.
A new motherboard is expensive. Between 3-500 dollars from what I understand. Your local Apple dealer can tell you more.
