  • What if I got an email purchase receipt supposedly from Apple, but it looks like spam?

I got an email that seems to be a purchase receipt from the Apple Store for a computer in the amount of $2633.88 but the purchaser is not myself. Is there an email address I can forward this to in order to tell if its a legitimate purchase receipt from Apple or if its just a spam message created by a spammer?

Apple does offer to email receipts for in-store purchases.  I don't see why someone would spam you a fake receipt.  But, someone that might have been expecting it may not have (there could have been an error in entering the correct email address).  I would suggest you just give Apple a call.  They may have another way of contacting the buyer.

  • When I turned off Find my iPhone, Apple sent me an email saying: I got an email from Apple saying: your Apple ID and password will no longer be required for someone to erase, reactivate, and use your iPhone. I don't understand!

I just turned off Find my iPhone after hearing about the hacking in Australia.  I got an email from Apple saying:  your Apple ID and password will no longer be required for someone to erase, reactivate, and use your iPhone.  Does this mean that anyone can have access to my iPhone?  I still have to put my passcode in.

What that means is the activation lock does not operate if you did what you said you did. Bottom line, turn it back on. That will then require anyone trying to use the device to have yoru Apple ID and password.

  • TS4009 Why did I get an email from apple saying my iCloud storage is being downgraded?

Why did I get an email from apple saying my iCloud storage is being downgraded?

You were (previously) a member at MobileMe and got 20GB's of free iCloud storage in addition to the 5GB's offered by the "free" iCloud service.
At the end of this month the 20GB's will go "poof" (like the rest of MobileMe).

    Hi vikadelic,
Do you store your passwords in the browser? If so, you may want to update them to make sure that they are trying to login with the right credentials: [[Password manager - Remember, delete and change saved passwords in Firefox]]
If that is not the case, it may be an old stored cookie: [[Delete cookies to remove the information websites have stored on your computer]]

  • I've just received an email from 'Apple' saying that my apple id was used      to sign into iCloud on an iphone 5s.  I have an iphone 4.  It's asking me to sign in to confirm my details and change my password.  How do I know if this email is genuine?

I've just received an email from 'Apple' saying that my apple id was used to sign into iCloud on an iphone 5S.  I have an iphone 4.  It then asks that I 'click here' to confirm my details and change my password.  How do I tell if the email is genuine?

Apple will not ask you to click a link in an email. They may tell you to log in to your account to reset your password. Go to https://appleid.apple.com and log in if you ever want to change any information in your profile (or your password). And do not click the link I just posted; instead enter it into a browser.
You can verify the devices assigned to your account by going to https://icloud.com/find (again, don't click it), where you can see a list of devices registered to your Apple ID.
As a general rule, you should never click a link in an email or forum post without verifying it first. You can see where it goes without clicking it in most email programs and browsers by hovering your mouse pointer over it. On an iPhone you can check where it goes by holding your finger on the link (rather than just tapping it).

  • My mail only receives certain messages . received  email from apple saying  mail is full and it isn'

my mail only receives certain messages . received  email from apple saying  mail is full and it isn'.
a lot of email that others send me  don't even get to may mailbox.

Your icloud storage must be full, from emails, backups, and other data.
    Go to
Settings>General>Usage.  This tells how much storage is used on both iCloud and on the device.

  • HT5622 seems like every 3-4 days I get an email from Apple saying your password has been reset,if you didn't change it go to etc'

    ipad 4
ALmost every few days I get an email from Apple saying your password has been changed.... if you didn't change please go to Apple and change your id password
I have had to do this for the 7th time in 4 weeks

If you are receiving e-mail messages that indicate that someone is trying to reset your Apple ID password, they may be phishing scams. Do not click any links in those e-mail messages, and if you make the mistake of doing so, do not provide your current Apple ID password on the page you are directed to.
Unfortunately, in this case, there's nothing to be done except treat those messages the same way you would any other spam.
The other possibility is that someone is actually trying to reset your Apple ID password. This may be due to a malicious attack, but more likely, it's just someone who thinks your Apple ID is actually theirs (due to a typo, faulty memory or something similar) and is trying to "regain" access. In any case, this is merely an annoyance, but you can put an end to it by enabling two-factor authentication on your Apple ID. This will require an additional piece of information that only you will possess in order to even start the password reset process.
If you are actually seeing your password getting changed, and are having to reset it yourself to regain access, you are being hacked. This could be because your password is not strong enough to withstand a brute-force attack by a botnet. It could also be because the attacker already has access to your e-mail address, and is able to intercept the reset e-mail and complete the reset process. Because of that danger, you should change the password for the e-mail account associated with your Apple ID. You should also change the password for your Apple ID, making sure that it is a strong password, and enable two-factor authentication as mentioned above.

  • Hello all, I bouhgt a TV serial using my apple tv2 and my Apple ID information: all good. But then I got an e-mail from apple saying that an "unknown" user downloaded con ten using my apple ID. Nobosy stoled anything. How do I get my particular apple TV2

Hello all, I bouhgt a TV serial using my apple tv2 and my Apple ID information: all good. But then I got an e-mail from Apple saying that an "unknown" user downloaded content using my apple ID. Nobody stoled anything. How do I get my particular apple TV2 to recognize my apple ID account so it knows it is me who is buying. Thank you so much.

    Dear AC,
Thank you so, so much for this answer. I did go into my Apple ID account through iTunes store and associated my devices to my Apple ID account. I did this by working on my computers (a mac mini and a mac air) and my two devices (iPhone and iPad). Thus there is a statemente saying "4 devices are associated with this apple ID and can download your purchases from iTunes in the iCloud". So whenever I use them to purchase anything, iCloud knows it is me through my devices so I do not get no e-mail warming me my account might be being used by a stranger.
So, how do I associate my apple Tv2 to my apple ID account? I went to its settings and could not find any way of doing it. Can you continue helpling me? Please.
    Thank you so so much
