Last night I tried to Sync my Iphone 3GS because I had a lot of new music only to lose all my contacts and my new music. Also lost a lot of pictures. Was able to get some back but not the new stuff and no contacts. What should I do next?
Last night I tried to sync my Iphone 3GS to my laptap because I had a lot of new music. What happened was, at first I lost all my music, photos, and all my contacts (all phone numbers). I was able to retrieve some music, not the new ones, some photos but not all, and none of my contacts. What did I do wrong and how do I get my songs/contacts/photos back.
Correct. When you update via iTunes all synced media that is not in your iTunes library will be lost.

I do not think it included audio books.

My iPhone 4s is dark, this is the second time. The first time I was able to get it back up and running by plugging it into my PC. However this time it has been plugged in for an hour or more and nothing. There was still at least 70% charge left on it when it went dead. I have pressed the sleep and start button separately and together. It said that I did not have much space left this morning so I deleted Apps and photos but there was still space. Just two days ago it was losing power even though it still 55% charge left so I plugged it in and it seemed to gain power. Any suggestions on the problem?
Sounds like faulty battery. Make Genius reservation and take to Apple for quick (minutes) free battery diagnostic testing. If you have Warranty or AppleCare the problem will be covered.

I was trying to sync my iPhone 3GS and it is now stuck, saying I'm in recovery mode. I am thoroughly confused now after researching online. I'm scared to restore to original settings as I don't want to lose everything, apps, contacts, etc. Help! Is there a way to get it all back if I do restore?? Can I my stuff back through iCloud??
Bad news first and we hope for good news as well
The device is in Recovery Mode and the data has already been deleted, you need to restore the device with iTunes in order to get the iPhone back into a working state
When the iPhone is restored you can then restore it from your latest backup using iTunes or iCloud and regain some, if not all, of your data.
The good news part only happens if you had a backup. -
I can't connect to my school's free wifi. i was able to do it before but not anymore i get the self assign ip addrees message .it has no password only a pop up window before you connect to agree to school terms for wifi use. i don't get that window anymore. i tried everything I can think of. It is a 2010 macbook pro but i recentrly updated to osx lion and even with lion it was working fine so I nkow it is not the update. also Im able to connect to other internets at home it works great. starbucks too. but i became so frustated that i reset my computer to manufactuter setting and reinstall snow leopard on it. still I cant connect. I need help please i have been searching all over the web for help and i see people has been having this same problem for years now.. oh yeah and i know it is not the internet cuz there are other macs connecting to it without a single problem so i think it is an isolated problem plase help....i have follow many advises such as delete the internet from your prefered netwoks. restar your commputer etc etc.
Be sure Safari does not have the Block Pop-Up Windows preference set.
Where I work now there are several unencrypted VLANs that require authentication, and Safari promptly pops up a window for me to register every time. -
Bought lots of music last night. Tried to sync my 5th generation nano.It's been saying something like, "step two, attempting to sync a***'s ipod for about 8 hours. It won't let me stop it. I can't disconnect at this time. Please help.I thought about using control. alt delete and stopping it. It says I will lose any unsaved data. The music appears to be in my library, so I should be safe, right? However even if that works and I can disconnect my ipod, why isn't it syncing? I have a 2nd one to sync as well. I am frustrated. Thank you!
Thanks you for replying planb77! My husband got home and told me to just disconnect the ipod. It had been at least 12 hours by then, The music was in my library but not on my ipod, He had me shut down, unplug my computer, take a rest from it and restart. I reset my ipod following instructions on the itunes site. I tried syncing again and was successful syncing both ipods. I really think it was great of you to take the time to help someone else.

You can't install 9.2.1 or earlier on any Mac that is only Mac OS X bootable. In fact you need to use the restore disks which came with those Macs to install 9.2.2 on those Macs. 8.6 is only possible to install on Macs which came with 8.6 or earlier. The 9.1 disk may be useful for your 1999 PowerMac G4, but won't be of any use for a 2006 Powerbook G4.

My computer crashed with all my itunes files. I was able to get some off and transfer them to another computer. I am afraid to sync my ipod to the new computer becaused I do not want to loose all of my playlists and other music. Will this happen?
To import music into your iTunes library on the computer go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Add items to iTunes and follow the instructions
Delete the "songs" that do not play in your iTunes library and reimport them. -

My Mac mini won't recognize iphone 4 photo library in itunes so I can download pics from library and free up space in memory, I was able to download camera role but not photo library that takes up more space. Help thanks
The photo sync is one-way: Computer to phone. Photos synced to your phone will have to be extracted from your phone using third-party software, if you want them on your computer, as Apple makes no provision to do so. Since you're using a Mac, you can use this:

There are two types of Backups that I can make for iDevice (for a example for iPhone - backup to iCloud or/and to the local PC/Mac.
Both are the current Backup, so my question is - Is it possible to save a several Backups of an exact iDevice, for example of iPhone (some history, but not the last one only)?ITunes keeps 1 backup file only.

after all ive gone through with it in just a days time of actually being able to use, its stolen,but luckily I got it bac,\k, but then unlucky its disabled when i get it back. didnt have a computer i could downlaod itunes on and connect to my ipod via usb cable. Finally, my friend brings me her laptop computer and I download the app. yesss. then i connect ipod. nothing happened at first. still said ipod disabled connect to itunes on display. then after i exited out of the various windows i opened to get it to its current position. bam, out of no where it sends out a notification sound and its showing itunes logo with a usb cable beneath it arrow in midst of the two pointing to i tunes. wallah itunes shows ipod touch on left and displays downlaod process after i answered various questions to allow it to downlaod updates and restore my ipod. . i was excited and relieved needless to say... why am I here now though, with what seems to be the same problem. you see it downloads a part of the file then about 20 mins into it or less than 25% through, i hear a beep sound from my ipod again. no it wasn"t finished with download as i had eexpected it to say but instead it said itunes was unable to access my ipods files cause my ipod had a password protection on it and that i needed to enter that password on my ipod first in order for the itunes app be able to access it.!!! HELLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ANYBODY SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. I HAVE TO CONNECT TO ITUNES TO REENABLE IT BUT WHEN I DO THAT, I CAN DO IT TIL I ENTER MY PASSWORD ON IPOD FIRST , WHICH CANT ACCESS PASSWORD OVERRIDE SCREEN UNTIL ITS CONNECTED TO ITUNES. In that process I lost my LR4 catalogs I was able to redownload the program but the catalogs are not there and not all of those pictures are on my external hard drive because same said teen decided they were going to borrow my external hard drive without telling me and "made room" on it. Is there a way to recover my catalogs? Please tell me there is because I was in the middle of working on a session when I had to wipe my drive and I would REALLY like to not have to go back and reshoot it. Any help would be wonderful!
It depends on how you wiped your drive. Depending on how you did it, only the directory was erased and the data can be found with drive recovery software. Some are free, although there is a small charge for most of them (~$30). You can usually download a trial version that shows if it will work and you have to pay to be able to save the found files. Use Google to search for the software. Different programs work differently and can find different things.

I've tried syncing my iPhone 3GS, but it'll stop when the sync is nearly complete, and the sync is interrupted with an error message reading "Error 1015". I've already tried all of the other things suggested by iTunes (ensuring that my OS is up-to-date, disconnecting other USB cables, ect.), yet this problem persists. Help...
