This system will not post with a pci-express card, and will with a pci card. It has posted and then just never came back on . Please desperate, will try any suggestions ?

ok sli card is pointed right way, pci-express card has been changed and still same sometimes the dlite says memory error and sometimes 1 and 4 are red.
Is there any other bios setting s or anything for sli. I have sli card positioned to non-sli
just trying other while wating for rma number but I think im getting closer

K8N Neo4 Plat SLI: Getting Integrated 24-bit SB Live! Working With openSUSE 10.2

From my research into this subject, I am interested in either some SB Live! drivers from Creative or an updated ALSA driver. Can anyone suggest which is most appropriate for openSUSE? I have discovered that it should work automatically. For anyone in the future that finds themselves in a similar situations, here's what you do. The menu options may have changed by the time you read this but should be similar.
From YaST, go HARDWARE > SOUND. Click on OTHER > VOLUME...
Where it says ANALOG FRONT, that's the volume for your basic speaker output (i.e. a two speaker setup). Increase this and click TEST. You should be hearing something by about the time it's set to 30, depending on the speakers. When all the speaker outputs are to your liking, click NEXT and then FINISH.
You may also find that no audio programs can access your audio drivers. This can be solved by following the instructions here: http://www.suseforums.net/index.php?showtopic=30335&hl=
As best I can tell, it's a noob counter measure, built in to deter noobs from using Linux!! Good luck and KTBPA!

Anyone get 2gb Memory to run at 1T in K8N Neo4 Platinum SLI MB?

I recently upgraded to 2 GB Geil memory in my new K8N Neo4 Platinum SLI system (not the system listed in my signature). I cannot get it to boot if I set Ram to 1T.
Has anyone been able to run 2GB at 1T in this MB?

I have the Geil Value 2x1gb dual channel kit. It is rated at 3, 4, 4, 8. I can get it to run fine at 3,3,3,8 at 2T. I cannot get it to boot at 1T with either the rated settings or the faster settings. It will boot at at 2.5, 3,3,8, but is not stable.
I can exchange this kit for a higher quality kit, but I don't want to do that unless someone else has had success with runing 2x1gb in this Neo 4 Platinum SLI board.
The memory I have runs at 1t in my K8Neo2 system as my does my Kingston Value RAM (2x512). It so happens that I have 2 Kingston value kits (total of 4x512), which I could try but everything I have read says it will run at 333mhz with four stix.
My experience has been that the K8N Neo2 Platinum is more accepting of value memory in general than the K8N Neo4 Plat/SLI. I have also read that getting any 2x1gb kit to run at 1T in the Neo4 Platium/Sli board is impossible or at least nearly so. That is why I am looking for soneone who has success (or no success) with 2x1gb sticks at 1T in the same mb as mine.
Net I want to get the best 2gb configuration possible but onle one that someone already has experience with (since I can only exhange the Geil kit once).

Can anyone explain this bizarre Neo4 plat/sli circumstance?

Just had mobo upgraded to Neo4 plat/sli. I only have IDE drives in the system currently. They are PHYSICALLY connected in this way:
IDE socket 1 cable
master - 80GB HDD, empty drive
slave - DVD burner
IDE socket 2 cable
master - 120GB HDD, OS installed here (WIN XP PRO SP2)
slave - 120GB HDD, data resides on this disk.
HOWEVER...
The drives are being recognized at bootup in this way:
Primary Master - 120GB HDD with OS (physically on IDE socket 2 as master)
Primary Slave - DVD Burner (physically on IDE socket 1 as slave)
Secondary Master - 80GB HDD (physically on IDE socket 1 as master)
Secondary Slave - 120GB HDD with data (physically on IDE socket 2 as slave)
Further, the WIN XP disk management utility shows the drives in a similar manner:
Disk 0 - 120GB w/ OS (drive C:)
Disk 1 - 80GB (no drive letter)
Disk 2 - 120GB w/ data (drive E:)
DVD burner - (drive D:)
How can this be? I thought that to show as primary master, a drive must be connected to IDE socket 1 as master? And how in the world can the Primary master and slave drives reside on two different IDE cables?
I didn't do this installation and cannot talk to the tech who did until Monday. FWIW, everything is working just fine. And it all appears to be jumpered properly. But before I go about the process of loading up all my software, etc., I feel a need to understand why this is happening. Is this a function of a bios setting that I can't find?

Well, in the first place welcome to the forum, secondly what you present it's correct, the system drive (OS drive) it has to always be the drive C: that's not a question of Master and Slave because if you go to the system properties you will see those drives as they are configured in the BIOS.
But for me that is a strange configuration....

Updated iPhone last night, cant get stuff to back up the right way

Hey everyone,
I'm new here, so if i'm in the wrong place i'm sorry. Last night I updated my 3GS to the 4.1.3 software, and my faulty USB cable decided to disconnect in the process, so i had to find another cable and start over. Since then, my iPhone has not been the same. Most importantly my camera role is completely empty, when before it had hundreds of pictures. How can i get them back?
Also, some of my apps were missing, and now completely out of order, when before they were organized in folders. My Wifi settings that were saved before along with my email accounts were also lost. Both relatively easy things to recover, but i'm curious wether this happens with alot of people or not.

When iTunes is done restoring, it will ask if you want to "setup like new" or from a backup. Which did you select? Did you manually backup your files or sync your computer before you updated?

Audio Worked Last Night - Cannot Get It To Work This Morning

What silly thing am I missing?
Have had my new MacBook for 4 weeks. Have been working on same slideshow for several days. Downloading new music and adding it, early on, was intuitive and easy. Subsequently, added sound effect to music (on another machine) and brought it back as a single track to the MacBook. Worked like a champ.
Last night, exploring ways to share I used iDVD to create a "movie" of slideshow. It complained about the music not having something done and I followed the bouncing ball (something about iLife) and it worked fine. (Titles were out of place, but that is another posting.) The DVD audio and video play just fine, though the images all appear a bit soft.
This morning when I attempted to run the Slideshow, no audio. I have tried removing the music track and replaced it multiple times. Still no audio.
What the heck am I missing here, or is this a known bug?

If you open iTunes and double-click a song, does it play?
If no then your system volume may be turned off:
Using the menu bar:
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Sound, and then click Sound Effects.
Open the Sound Effects pane of Sound preferences
Select the “Show volume in menu bar” checkbox.
Click the sound icon in the menu bar and drag the volume slider.
If audio works fine in other applications like iTunes, are you playing your slideshow back in iPhoto or in iDVD (or someplace else)?
If you are playing it back in iPhoto and you can see there is audio added in the Slideshow > Music > Play music during slideshow (this must be checked for audio to play), then try the following:
Ensure all your software is up to date (Apple Menu > Software Update).
Remove the following to the trash and restart the computer and try again:
Home > Library > Caches (I remove the whole folder. It will be re-generated upon restart.)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.iPhoto (There may be more than one. Remove them all.)

Considering this setup (MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum/SLI)

I am currently considering this setup (or at this is the basics);
2x Corsair CMX256A 3200LL
2x Corsair CMX512 3200XL
OCZ 520W powerstream
Sapphire Radeon x800xl
AMD64 Winchester 3500+
MSI Neo4 Platinum/SLI (or MSI A8N Platinum SLI as it is listed as here in sweden).
What I would like to know, is if anyone spots any obvious problems spots with the basics of the setup. And if there are any major issues plaguing the MSI board (I am looking at all the major nF4 boards, trying to decide on one). Any input would be greatly appreciated

jrb, what you need to do is determine whether your motherboard or your RAM is at fault. Drop the memory divider so your RAM is running at 1/2 the speed of the CPU front side bus, drop the HT multiplier to 3x, drop the CPU multiplier to 6x and then ramp up your front side bus speed. If the motherboard still cannot go past 215 fsb, then you know the motherboard is the issue and you can look into that. Have you looked into trying Clockgen like I recommended? If the motherboard CAN go past 215, (and it should be able to hit about 340 or higher on its own before crapping out), then the issue might be the RAM.
The trick is to isolate the problem. But just trying one thing and then speculating that it might be the RAM is a sure fire way to waste money. The difference between G-Skill PC4400 and Corsair PC4400 is minimal. Both use Samsung TCCD, but the G-Skill LE is rated at 275 mhz 2.5-3-3-7 1T whereas the Corsair is rated at 275 mhz 2.5-4-4-8 1T. Is that worth blowing a bunch of money on to replace it? Probably not. If you do find that the Corsair is the limiting factor, then go back to the Corsair forums and try and solve your problem. If your RAM is faulty, then there's no doubt you can return it as it's rated at 275 mhz, so having it unable to go past 215 isn't even close to acceptable.

Why is Time Warner Cable webmail now a gray triangle unsecure site? It was fine last night; just happened this morning. TWC was no help.

By the way, the gray ! triangle indicates that although the main page was loaded over a secure connection, some content in the page, typically an image, was loaded over a regular connection.
Do you notice any unusual content in the page? Sometimes a bad add-on will insert extra ads into a page and can trigger the mixed content warning. To investigate a possible bad add-on, here is the process I suggest:
(1) Open the Windows '''Control Panel''', Uninstall a Program. After the list loads, click the "Installed on" column heading to group the infections, I mean, additions, by date. This can help in smoking out undisclosed bundle items that snuck in with some software you agreed to install. Take out as much trash as possible here.
(2) Open Firefox's '''Add-ons page''' using either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click '''Plugins'''. Set nonessential and unrecognized plugins to "Never Activate".
In the left column, click '''Extensions'''. Then, if in doubt, disable (or Remove, if possible) unrecognized and unwanted extensions.
Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
Any improvement?
(3) You can search for remaining issues with the '''scanning/cleaning tools''' listed in our support article: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]]. These on-demand scanners are free and take considerable time to run. If they finish quickly and especially if they require payment, you may have a serious infection. I suggest the specialized forums listed in the article in that case.

I can't open personal emails today (8/16/12) after Mozilla upgrade last night and Adobe this morning--even old emails in inbox.

I have Windows 7 on desktop and Yahoo mail. It is only personal emails. Other items in inbox will open.

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
1. Clear Firefox's Cache
orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
2. If needed, delete your yahoo.com cookies (this will log you out)
While viewing a page on the site, right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Use Remove as needed, then try reloading the page and logging back in.
Does that help?

Iphoto deleted my book I made last night!! please help

I built a book in I photo last night and this morning I open I photo to show my girlfriend and it disappeared.
How can I get my book back?

For some reason the book did not get saved. Did iPhoto quit on you last night?
Yes, this has happened to other users, usually when iPhoto quits or crashes while they are making the book. You should highlight the book and make a duplicate every once in awhile to force iPhoto to save it while you are working on it.
I don't know of any way to get it back, I wish I did.

I am looking at getting the MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum mobo, but have to wait a few weeks to get a new cpu, will I be able to put my AMD Athlon XP 2400+ cpu into it until I get a new cpu or do I need to get a specific cpu for it?
Any help would be appreciated

Well the thing is, before the BIOS upgrade (to V1.5) the ram did run @ 400 (on V1.3). I did the research before buying parts and it all pointed to the board should run 4 @ 400. But hey not all things are 100% in life lol see Ram post !
