Last update broke gnome-power

Hi guys,
I'm using mate, and before last update, everything works fine. Later, the gnome-power menu has disappear.
Now, i had reinstalled upower 0.9.15 and libimobiledevice. Everything works fine for one reboot. By the second reboot, doesn't work anymore :?
There is something that i can do?
Thanks, Gabriele.

I guess that is an AUR package.   You are required to rebuild that yourself.

  • How to see the last updates made during Power Nap?

    Hello guys,
I am using MacBook Pro with Retina Display with Power Nap turned on. I think it's a great feature, but I wouyld like more control — to be able to see the updates it has made while sleeping.
Is there any way to see the last updates made during Power Nap? Maybe some logs etc.

You can see updates installed via Software Update by clicking on the Apple > About this Mac > more info > System Report > scroll down to Software > Installations. That is a comprehensive list - you won't find a separate list of the last hour or whatever (that I know of). There might be a terminal command for that - or not - I don't know of one.
FWIW, I like to know what updates are being installed when, so I do not allow automatic download/installs of anything - I allow automatic checking so I get a notification that an update is available, but then I prefer to choose if/when I will download and install.

  • Last update broke my mac

    Hi all
Seems the last update broke running games with Steam, and broke Skype. Any idea what might have caused this, and how to fix it?
    roy

    Hello:
Well, since none of those third party programs have been changed, and since the Apple update *did* change my mac, it was the one that broke things.
Actually you completely missed my point.  Software that is being maintained by a manufacturer (translate Apple) is under regular incremental improvement.  Third party developers have access to the changes before they are released to the general public.  The reason I suggested you contact the third party developers is because they may already have a fix or workaround.
Is there an easy way to roll back such an update?
If you backed up your system prior to doing the update (always an essential step), yes.  If you did not, no.

It seems that disabling input hotplugging doesn't work with the last update of xf86-input-keyboard or xf86-input-evdev.
Now, I must enable input hotplugging. If not, I have a us keyboard on kdm and get errors in Xorg.log :

  • Last update broke bumblebee

    Hi,
I have an asus K53S with a GT540M and an intel graphic processor. I have installed bumblebee to use both, but after the last update, the output of optirun is :
[ 8018.361930] [ERROR]Cannot access secondary GPU - error: Could not load GPU driver
[ 8018.361968] [ERROR]Aborting because fallback start is disabled.
I don't think the problem is in /etc/bumblebee.conf ( http://pastebin.com/piV9LgLv ), Driver is set to nvidia.
Did that happen to anyone else ? Any help to troubleshoot would be welcome.
    Thanks
    Tim

For reference on my ASUS N56V bumblebee works fine. Nvidia 635M. Probably configuration issue (but do post the information requested).

  • Last Update broke X

    Hi,
Since my last update, I can't launch X anymore. It's not really convenient
I read some problems about KDEmod but i'm not using it. I just have the regular version of KDE (from extra/). In the list, of updated packages i spot:
    Kernel (2.6.33)
    xorg-server (1.7.6)
    xf86-video-ati  (6.12.192)
    xf86-video-mesa (2.3.0)
(I have an ATI Radeon Mobility X700.)
When i try to run x with startx, i don't see any special errors.
    Can anyone help, please ?
    Thank you

I downgrade to previous version of xf86-video-ati
    From 6.12.192    to  6.12.4
Now I can launch my X server... But it's a temporary fix. I can't stay with this version forever. It's stranger that I am the only one having troubles...

  • [solved] updates broke gnome

i know this is a stupid and noobish title, but i really couldn't think of a better one.
after a recent update, lots of things broke, and i'm not even sure if they're related to one thing or just issues of their own.
1, after the upgrade, i couldn't log in with slim (i use the inittab method). i tried going to runlevel 3 and starting slim as a daemon, same effect. right after logging in, the hard drive stops and i only have a cursor. tried starting gdm as a daemon, same thing.  the funny thing is that i can start gnome with 'startx'.
2, gnome-panel says the clock applet is broken, but i've seen topics on that.
3, nm-applet asks for a password (probably because i started the session with 'startx'), but upon entering it, the dialog freezes.
i only have one response: wtf?! i'm not a complete noob, but i really can't do anything about this.. is anyone getting these problems? is there a fix/workaround?
    thanks,
    bamdad

  • Recent update broke GNOME Shell drawing?

    Hi.
I'm recently working on a theme for GNOME Shell, and in the "popup-menu-item" class I used a style like this: "box-shadow: inset 0 1px 0 #86d1f2;"
It was all good before, but after I update my system yesterday the inset box-shadow property seems to be broken.
With "0 1px [something greater than 0]" it works just fine,
but if I do what I did above, going with "0 1px 0", the shadow (which should've been only 1 pixel high) would cover the whole button.
Not sure if it's just me or it really is a bug.
And I don't know much about all those packages, but I suspect it's gtk or cairo that cause the change.
Please tell me what you think and where and how I can properly report this. Thanks!

    wonder wrote:do you have nouveau?
Is it something Nvidia-related? No, I don't think so. I'm running on ATI.
But I don't think it's a graphical glitch caused by driver or something like that anyway.
Must be the Shell or whatever it is it's using to draw.
    A few thoughts:
    1. If someone can check this for me, apply a random third-party theme, and add "box-shadow: inset 0 1px 0 red;" in the ".popup-menu-item" block, ALT-F2 "rt"
then check if it's a red line or covers the whole item.
    2. Assume it's caused by, say, Cairo, can I downgrade to an earlier version easily with pacman or yaourt? That way I might be able to find the problem.
    Thanks.

  • [Solved]Last update broke my X. Now it doesn't want to start

    Hi everyone,
I updated my 64 bit Arch today, and when i rebooted the X server didn't start. When I type in "startx" I am getting error message which says something like "Failed to load module nvidia (module requirement missmatch, 0)", but i can load nvidia module with "modprobe nvidia" then when I type in "startx" again everything is the same. How do I overcome this problem. I think I have been using this version of nvidia driver since 2011-08-17 but today my kernel version changed. Can this be the problem and what should I do in this case? I tried downloading the same driver from the nvidia site, so I can build it on my system with the new kernel but I ended up with the same error. I'm thinking of trying the new 285 BETA driver but probably this won't help either. Please give me some hints on what should I do. If this is not the proper place for my post, please excuse me

Thank you laloch, this did the job, but triggered another problem ->
    Buttons problem: http://img690.imageshack.us/img690/5505 … 11436r.png
the buttons outlines don't show up and the background of the dock at the bottom is also broken and so is the windows titlebar. Is this somehow related to the IgnoreABI option or is the driver incompatible with the new kernel? I am using compiz btw... but everything elese seems to be working good(except that xbmc doesn't want to start).

  • Gnome Power Manager Applet

    So what's going on?
I do not assume, that users of other distros have such problems, at least in Foresight Linux the applet is working as supposed to, which confirms that it's not an upstream problem. There is a bug open, but no info about any progress.
Is anybody working on a fix?
Jan de Groot has been assigned to this task a few days ago. Jan works on 580 open tasks, most of which have a higher priority then this bug.
As seen from the screenshot threads, quite some Arch users are on Gnome, so that's surely not something just a minority is in need of.
What's with the Gnome 2.18.1 updates (though the working version of the Gnome Power Manager in Foresight Linux is 2.18.2 as well)?
Oh my, an icon is not shown, man the life boats. The gnome-power-manager works perfectly -- at least for me -- it just doesn't show an icon in the notification area. If you absolutely need the icon, deploy Iloeki's script. It should do the job.
