Last wish, preset converting RAW into JPG with more contrast, saturation & sharpening

A close family member is dying and she has still many RAW files, which of course look slightly lifeless as all RAW files do. She asked me to look for a simple Lightroom preset which will convert her RAWs into Jpgs with more contrast, saturation and sharpening. She has Lightroom 3, but has no experience in making presets and neither do I. She needs the preset to make the RAW files as Jpgs available to her partner & children. No fancy effects; just simple. She cannot work on her computer anymore. Can you help me with a concrete preset or if not can you make one for her?

How to convert RAW into jpgs?

I used to use Capture One by Phase One to process my RAW images into jpgs, when I had WinXP on my pc. With my new computer, it has the new 64 bit, with Win Vista. Now, using Capture One is a total joke. You can't possibly get anything done.
How can I use Photoshop CS4 to process RAW images into jpgs? I don't see a way that I can apply changes on one image, to others in a particular group. With Capture One when it was good on WinXP, I could make changes to one, lighten/brighten, sharpen, change the color temp, etc., apply it to all the desired images, then click to output a certain size, say 5x7 at 200 ppi, hit the button, and it would do it. I don't see that I can do any of that in Photoshop, short of using the ever-annoying set and action, then automate.
Also, for professional work, where I'm processing hundreds of images at a time, is there other software I should look at, like Lightroom, Gimp, etc.?

Use Bridge and Camera Raw: Navigate Bridge to the folder with your raw files. There are several ways to make changes to one image in camera raw then apply the changes to other raw image files. In camera raw filmstrip mode, select the images you want to apply an adjustment to then apply the adjustment to the first of those images and it will be applied to all the others that are selected. Or apply adjustments to the first image of a series then add additional selections and use camera raw's Synchronize. Or, make adjustments to first image in series then click done, which will return you to Bridge. In Bridge, select the image you want to copy camera raw adjustments from then Develop Settings > Copy Settings. Select all the target images that you want to receive these settings then Develop Settings > Copy Settings. Both Copy settings and ACR's Synchronize will bring up a selection box where you can check which settings you want to copy.
You can select save ppi in camera raw. You can use Camera Raw's crop function can get files to a desired aspect ratio if they are not already there. Crop can be copied to other files via Synchronize or Develop settings - Copy if that is useful. Getting a specific size in pixel dimensions may take another step. Camera Raw offers a limited set of file sizes (in its Workflow Options). If you want other than these, then one methodis to save images from Bridge using Photoshop's image processor. After making camera raw adjustments and returning to Bridge, select desired raw images then Tools > Photoshop > Image Processor... Set size and output options in the image processor.

Batch convert Raw to jpg with EXIF data

I would like to batch convert RAW images files to jpeg format while preserving the EXIF data. Is there any way to do this with the built-in apps in OS X Mavericks?
This used to be possible with Preview.app using the "Export Selected Images..." command. However, as of Mavericks, that command does not correctly copy EXIF data for the individual images. Instead, the EXIF data for the first image is used in all of the exported images. So Preview.app is now pretty much useless for converting batches of RAW files.
Can anyone point me to a workaround in Preview.app, or an alternative way to do this conversion in Mavericks?
I should add that I don't want to import all my images into iPhoto. I prefer to use regular folders to organize my images rather than the walled library that iPhoto creates.

ACR converting raw into huge jpg files even at low quality

Hi Need help !!I am downloading raw files from canon 30d into bridge and processing RAW files in ACR.
When i have finished the edit I am clicking on save image and selecting jpg and then low quality. The RAw image is about 7mb and the converted low quality jpgs are also coming out to 7mb. These are far too big and is only a recent problem. I have re-installed photoshop but this has not fixed the problem.
By the way if I convert an image from raw that I haven't edited by the same process the file size is only 300kb
Would be very grateful if anyone has an answer to this

If I save as medium quality file size goes higher - over 13mb
Saving it as an uncompressed tiff sent the file size upto 1.5GB !!!!
The two installed versions were the 64bit version and the normal (32 bit ?)
I did uninstall and delete Adobe folders before reinstalling but as you say there may have been files left behind - will look into that
I paid £30 to adobe for there technical support - but getting nowhere at present as with their basic level support I think I need them to escalate to more qualified people.
I am wondering if the problem is with my pc due to the upscaling of file size when edits were done in Paint

With Netscape all of the Webcam shots from live feeds were automatically saved in my cache folder and I could simply open my cache send the saved files into AcDsee and convert them into jpgs, It would save as many as I would allow space for. With firefox

I cant retrieve my images from webcams that are cached any more with mozilla. With netscape all of the live webcam images from live cams were automatically saved in my cache folder and all i had to do was open it send the files to acdsee and turn them into jpgs. It would save them untill the Cache ran out of room no matter how many files or sites I had running. Mozilla seems to save what it wants when it wants and often dose not save any that I can retrieve because I believe it is bulking them into Cache 123 or 4 and those i cant open to retrieve the files. Sometimes it saves 100 or so and sometimes 2 or 3 sometimes 10 or more but i don't seem to have any control over what it does or does not save to retrieve no matter how much space i allow for the cache to save.

Converting RAW to jpg

I have always used Elements 10 to convert RAW files to jpg by opening the RAW file in the editor, making changes, and then choosing Open Image tab, and then choosing jpg format in the drop down box to save it. For some reason it is no longer an option, I have not changed any settings.

Turning Raw into JPG (using automated batch action)

I have finally decided to try and learn a bit more... this is all motivated by me not being happy with White Balance and the results I get... I want more vibrant colours and natural skin tones...
Anyways I have decided to start shooting in RAW... but dont know how I get them into JPG format ??? I know I need to use Photoshop/Batch... but not sure exactly what...
When I open a RAW image it appears in Photoshop (CS3) and allows me to really manipulate the colours... but how do I then SAVE those changes and create a action so I can automate batch the pics...
Cause we shoot large sets of images (like 100-200 per set) it's important that I can automate batch them... way too slow to do each image individually...
Any help would be greatly appreciated... do I make the changes in Photoshop then batch them in Bridge ? Please think of me as a absolute newbie who needs a step by step instruction lol

Ok here's a step to step of what I want to do...
I want to open the RAW image... I take it I do that in Photoshop ? I say that cause when I double click a RAW image thats where it automatically opens...
After I done that I want to play around with the image... ajust exposure/colours ect... The programe that the RAW image opens in is perfect to do that, I believe it's opened in Camara Raw 4.0...
But here is the tricky bit... what I really want to be able to do is then create a action/automated batch so that I can make the same changed (automated) to all the images from that set... not have to do them individually... and at the same time change the images into JPG's
So thats the bit I guess how and what do I use to do that ?

Convert document into string with unicode

I want to convert my document into string with all <,>,& to be converted into <, >, and &. When I am doing transformation, I am getting <,> etc.
Can anybody suggest me how to do that.

I don't know of any way to tell the parser to convert is for you, you'll have to replace the characters yourself after you got the string from the parser.

while converting into 0calday the record has to be look up on my reporting month and year.
my req. is i need to get the start date from pa9211 info type. we have our own payrol calender. so when we are extracting the data the data has to be in line with payroll calender
let say if emp 12345 start date is 21/09/2009. then as per our payrol calender he will fall under into oct payroll bcz speptember payroll has been already ran.the dates were 22/08/2009 to 17/09/2009

Selectively Converting RAW to jpg within the same folder in LR

Not all I shoot needs to stay in RAW but it ought to stay in the same folder. Is there a batch or action process that can be performed whereby I can, say out of a 100 image shoot, keep 10 of them as RAW, the rest convert to jpg and all reside in the same folder. Is there a way to do this in LR where it will automatically update the existing folder, delete the unwanted RAW files and keep track of the jpgs? I'm trying to avoid stepping out to Bridge, perform the selective conversion, then be forced to reimport the "new" jpgs into LR.

Start with Bridge, do the things that LR doesn't presently do effectively, and that way avoid the primitive I/O features of LR--hopefully some of these workarounds will get fixed in V 1.1.
For that matter, if you have Bridge CS3, you can do virtually everything that the LR Develop module will presently do in Bridge2/ACR 4 faster than in LR (because you will avoid the LR Library and I/O bottleneck, and be able to use the better, more ergonomic, configurable UI in ACR 4)then import into LR Library. Any touch ups needed can then be routinely done, and you can use the other modules in LR for printing, etc, if those are now part of your workflow.

Convert raw file recorded with parec[SOLVED]

Hello. I record a stream from my browser with this script:

Then I try to convert it with sox with this:
sox -w -s -L -r 44100 -c 2 alsa.raw alsa.wav
I get this answer:
sox: invalid option -- w
sox: SoX v14.2.0
If I don't use -w I get this:
sox formats: no handler for detected file type `application/octet-stream; charset=binary'
What's my problem besides that I'm to stupid to understand the sox-tutorials?

I did find another tutorial and now it is running fine. The command is:
sox -c 2 -r 44100 -s -2 -t raw file.raw -t wav file.wav

Converting .m4a into .mov with Quick Time?

trying to convert a .m4a file I pulled from itunes library into a .mov for use in FC7. this was easy to do in Snow leopard w/same quicktime10 with "save as" the option is not there in Lion, only export which does not have a .mov option. what am I missing or do I need another app now? I can't do it in Stream Clip either.

nevermind, I found Quicktime7 in my aplications and used that to do the conversion.

Best settings to convert RAW into high quality JPEG

I am a little bit lost when reading discussions regarding the best way to have photos accepted by Istockphoto. They are extremely demanding about the quality of the pictures and they accept zero artifacts for example.
I read that any corrections made of a RAW picture in Lightroom 4 must be very minimal (almost no correction for saturation, vibrace, exposure, and sharpening, noise etc.).
In this case it would mean that Lightroom is of no use and whay not use directly Photoshop CS6 to convert the RAW photo into a high quality JPEG.
If this is true, can someone tell me what are the best settings in CS6 to convert a RAW photo into a JPEG format ?

A raw picture is just that. You have to edit it in Adobe Camera Raw to get the picuture to shine. So their statement that edits must be minimal is confusing. Do they just want a jpeg as shot? You can set most cameras to take raw + jpeg.
Also, high quality means a certain minimium of height and width in pixels. What do they want?

How to batch convert RAW to JPG in Lightroom?

Hi. I want to convert a large portion of my older RAW files to JPG, to free up some hard drive space. Is there a way to do that in Lightroom (or perhaps Bridge)?

Export as jpg, checking add to catalog and then delete the originals. This will be a mistake. Keep your original files or you will regret it one day. If you need to save space that badly then convert the Raw files to DNG.
