Lastest version of Firefox always opens with Mozilla sceen. How do I eliminate this?

Both the Mozilla "net independence" screen and my start up home page screen opens. How do I eliminate the Mozilla screen?

Anzaron, 33.1.1 users should get a update to 34.0 only. The 34.0.5 is if you do a fresh install from mozilla.org. The two are the same with 34.0.5 making Yahoo be the default search engine instead of Google.

  • Why Firefox always opens with last session tabs?

When I open firefox always opens with last session tabs? How can I fix it?

You can check if you have a user.js file in the Firefox profile folder that sets the <b>browser.sessionstore.resume_session_once</b> pref to true.
The user.js file is only present if you or other software has created this file and normally it wouldn't be there.
You can check its content with a plain text editor (right-click: "Open with"; do not double-click).
The user.js file is read each time Firefox is started and initializes preferences to the value specified in this file, so preferences set via user.js can only be changed temporarily for the current session.
You can delete the user.js file if you didn't create this file yourself.
You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:
*Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
Windows hides some file extensions by default.
Among them are .html and .ini and .js and .txt, so you may only see file name without file extension.
You can see the real file type (file extension) in the properties of the file via the right-click context menu in Windows Explorer.

Turn off Time Machine before you open iMovie. It's a semi-known issue right now.

  • Firefox always opens with a different URL than listed in the settings option, why?

The homepage in the settings option of the firefox browser has been set to www.google.com.
However it always opens with https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl.
    Why?
    Please advise!
    Thanks.

    Hello,
Don't worry, this should not cause any problems. Side to side, the sites look the same, just in the link it goes to it activates SSL security (That's good)

  • Firefox always open with new tab and doesnt go to homepage, UNLESS I have it open then it opens a new browser and goes to my homepage

Instead of opening on my homepage, firefox opens on blank page, it says new tab.
If I open it and open a second browser instance while the first is still open, the second instance will go to my home page as it should. I have tried reinstalling firefox.

    Sorry but this didnt help.
What happens is When I open firefox instead of going to my homepage which I set to Google.com via the options. It just opens a blank tab. Before if I opened firefox there was no tab unless I clicked on the little plus sign. It clearly states New Tab on the first thing when opened.I tried the
:New Tab Page – show, hide and customize top sites: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/new-tab-page-show-hide-and-customize-top-sites#w_how-do-i-turn-the-new-tab-page-off. Did exactly as told but when I turn on firefox, same old thing. Now the weird part is if I open firefox I get what I just described, it opens with a blank new tab. But if I leave that instance open and open a 2nd browser, it opens to Google and looks fine! Very irritating . Also If I change the home page to Firefox homepage it works fine everytime. Seems they only want me going to thier page.

  • Since upgrading to version 32, firefox always opens old tabs when starting, even though i do not have this option set. Version 33.0.3 does the same.

When I updated Firefox to version 32, it started to always show my tabs from the last session when it is started. I tried changing the option "when Firefox starts" to all three of the available choices. None of these changed the behavior. It still opens the tabs that were last opened. I waited for the next release (33.0.3) but the behavior is still the same. I would like Firefox to open to my selected home page.
    I'm running Windows 7 Pro.

One possibility is that Firefox keeps crashing during shutdown, and so Firefox is recovering from a crash every time. But if you can see that it is shutting down normally in your testing, that probably isn't it.
Sometimes external software will create or update an optional settings file named user.js. For some reason, one of the things that often shows up in there is a preference to restore your previous session just once. However, because Firefox uses user.js to override your normal settings every time it starts, that then turns into a permanent change. To check for this and remove any user.js file you find, try this support article: [[How to fix preferences that won't save]].
    Any luck?

  • Firefox always opens with the "search" tab even though I don't want it. How do I stop this?

When I open Firefox, it opens normally to my home page. But it also opens with the "search" tab, though I don't want it. How do I prevent this?

From the search page offered go to your chosen home page. Now move the mouse to the top left and scan the options for view, Toolbars and make sure that the "Menu bar" is ticked. This will show the File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks and tools options plus Help. Click on tools, then Options and select current page as your home page. All should now be sorted.

Make sure that you do not block JavaScript.
Try to download the en-US installer from this page: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html

  • Firefox always opens with the last page from previous session. Setting this right (e.g. changing this to start up with blank or startup page) in Options/General, doesn't work.

All these "solutions" that have been offered to go to your settings and set your option to go to home page are 1.) not working and 2.) kind of a"duh". How many of us do you think have been set up like that for a few years now? And yet all of a sudden (i.e. new version of Firefox that apparently needs a little more testing...), this problem is occurring. It's getting really annoying too. We have defined home pages for a reason. Please correct this so we can return to them when we log in.

  • When I close Firefox another Firefox browser opens. WHY and how do I stop this?

Every time I close Firefox another Firefox browser opens. Then I close that one and it stays closed. How do I stop it from opening a new Firefox browser on it's own?

Is it possible that you actually have two Firefox windows open and Windows 7 is showing one Firefox on the System task bar, but if you were wave mouse over that, you might see two windows.
To Close Firefox use File > Exit (Alt+F > Exit)
and not the X in the upper right corner which only closes the Window and may or may not close Firefox if it is the last window. The reason it does not always close Firefox is that there may be other tasks running so you don't see Firefox anywhere but in the System Task Manager on the Processes Tab which is where you can see if firefox.exe is running or not. Shortcut to Task Manager on Windows 7 is Ctrl+Shift+Esc (for other Windows systems Ctrl+Alt+Del , select Task Manager,...)

  • Firefox always opens with "Well, this is embarassing...." not with my newest window & tab settings. How do I fix this?

I have entered different settings for my home page, opening window etc but each time Firefox opens it's stuck on the same problem and asks if it should Restore or Start New Session, never starting up with my new options.

It is possible that there is a problem with the files [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] and sessionstore.bak in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder]
Delete [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] and sessionstore.bak in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder]
    * Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.

  • Firefox always opens with two tabs, one the tab I want, plus an additional tab NEW TAB which I don't want. How can I stop the additional NEW TAB?

I open Firefox in new windows for sites I want to go to. I don't open in Tabs. Each time I open an new firefox window and when I restore the windows I had open, each site has an additional tab (2-tabs). The first tab is the site I want up the second tab is NEW TAB. I have to go through 10 to 14 Firefox windowe to close each 2nd and additional NEW TAB to individually close the NEW TABS. I had this before updating to the current Firefox and thought upgrading would solve this issue, but it didn't.

I started in safe Mode. I have the default theme. Starting in safe mode still gave me the same problem. I went back to the normal Firefox and still had the same problem. Yesterday I restarted my computer for 11 Windows updates. I am not going to spend all day starting and restarting my computer and removing my History and whatever else. Firefox should have a direct contact to it's users, to assist them instead of having their users work for them as forum responders and trouble shooters. This has already taken up way too much of my time.
I will say in normal Firefox the additional NEW TAB had no URL in it, but it did have the 12 icons on the page. In Safe Mode it had a URL that began with Chrome and it had a blank page, it didn't have the 12 icons as in normal mode. I don't have anything Chrome on my computer.

  • CS4 always opens with palettes minimised: how to change?

    Hi
For some reason my docked palettes have taken to being minimised when I launch Photoshop. Never used to be like that, they launched just how I like them to be (four groups, all open on launch), but I must have accidentally changed something 'coz they don't now.
Ok, it's only an extra four double clicks to open them all up, but it is irritating.
I can't find the setting that puts it back as I want it. I've tried saving the opened palettes as a new workspace, but no joy.
Can anyone tell me how to get my perfect workspace back, please?!
    Thanks in advance.
    TP

Hi panorama - thanks for the reply.
Good idea, but I had already resaved the workspace with the palettes open, but it still insisted on opening photoshop with them minimised.
I've now fixed by deleting the prefs file and recreating the preferred layout and resaving the workspace. The prefs file in W7 is in users/username/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS4/Adobe Photoshop CS4 Settings and it is called Adobe Photoshop X64 CS4 Prefs.psp
I'm sure there's an easier way to fix it, but trashing the prefs file does fix it.
Thanks to everyone for their suggestions.
    TP
