Late 2008 Graphics card 9600M GT disappears and will not switch?

Hardware Information:
          MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2008)
          MacBook Pro - model: MacBookPro5,1
1 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo CPU: 2 cores
          8 GB RAM
Video Information:
          NVIDIA GeForce 9400M - VRAM: 256 MB
NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT - VRAM: 256 MB
System Software:
          OS X 10.9.1 (13B42) -
So untill recently I did not know i had two graphics card. I upgraded to 8GB Ram and then did research and noticed. I have always run my mac in Better Battery Life using the 9400M because i would mainly use it for school. Using photoshop i had no problem but i recently started using After effects for video effects and needed more kick. i tried switching to Higher Performance in Energy Saver and it asked to log out. When i logged back in it still showed "Log out for the change to take effec"t and still showed the 9400M connected to the screen. I tried using gfxCardStatus and it would not work. When i restarted the 9600M would not show up in System Report. Restarting would be put it back on the list. i have looked through forums and have yet to see and answer that fixes my problem. Is my 9600 dead and cant be used or is it due to the operating system?

I had that model as well before what I did I contact customer support and pushed it up to case management after fighting with them for 2 weeks finally they put me in to a Envy line and didn't have a issue except for sound issue which they gutted the computer and replaced with all new everything inside. Hope that helps but all DV7's are made so poor they break so easily.

  • My iPod froze fully charged on the lock screen for 5 minutes, then went off and will not switch back on?

My iPod froze fully charged on the lock screen for 5 minutes, then went off and will not switch back on?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My iPad will not charge and will not switch on, blank screen.....

My iPad will not charge and will not switch on, blank screen.....

Have you tried a soft-reset to see if that gets the iPad to turn on and/or to charge ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds, after which the Apple logo will hopefully appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

Just read that someone had the same problem on 3gs and someone had replied to press the home button and power button at same time, so I tried this and within a few seconds my phone had switched itself back on.

  • Phone has frozen and will not switch on

Twitter was not working so I unistalled it from Iphone.  Reinstalled it but the phone then froze.  Turned phone off but now it will not switch back on and is frozen on the apple screen.  Help

Connect iPhone to Wall Charger and Reset, hold both Home and Power buttons until the iPhone begins to restart. Usually takes less than 20 seconds time of holding both buttons.
If this does not work you may need to Restore the iPhone Firmware. If you decide to Restore the Firmware, connect iPhone to computer with iTunes open, hold both Home and Power buttons until the iPhone is recognized in Recovery Mode, Restore the Firmware. Again usually takes about 20 seconds of holding both buttons.

  • My iPad screen freezes and will not switch off for at least 5 mins?

my ipad screen freezes and will not turn off or  function for at lease  5 mins then just closes down

Try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. When the screen goes blank then power ON again in the normal way.] It is 'appsolutely' safe!

  • I need a new graphics card for my iMac Apple will not sell me one so I can repair it myself, help

my graphics card as gone on my iMac Apple will not sell me one so that I can repair it myself, any suggestions

not sure which iMac you have but since the old 24" model the video card is not a separate board but a part of the main board so to fix it you would have to buy a smd gpu chip and solder the smd legs manually few people can manage such  feat the only leg compatible gpu chips would work of cause in which case it would be more of a nvidia or amd having to sell you the gpu chip then apple as apple don't make gpu chips

  • When trying to save a bookmark to a specific pre-established folder the window disappears and will not allow me to make a selection. If I hover in the area it will flash on the screen and disappear again, it's annoying please help!

When I attempt to save a new bookmark and want to save it in a folder the window that typically appears just below the address bar will not stay on the screen. It flashes on the screen and as soon as I move my cursor over it, it disappears. It will not allow me to make a selection of any kind. If I randomly hover over the general area the window will flash back in view but disappear again just as quickly. If I then show all my bookmarks, the bookmark was saved and I have to move it to the folder I actually want it in. Just a few extra steps, but still very annoying. Please help!

  • Passwords disappeared and will not "stick" after reentered

Hello - I've run into a strange issue that I have never encountered before with my stored passwords in multiple applications, my passwords have all disappeared and no matter how many times I re-enter them they will not stay, i keep having to re-enter them every time I alunch an application.
Apps so far that this have happened in are iChat, Adium, Dreamweaver, Transmit and Entourage.
    Here's what happens:
    1. Launch app. For example, I launch my Entourage, and it immediately tries to log into an email server to check email.
    2. A dialog box come up asking for the password for the email account. E-mail account field is filled in, but the password has disappeared, and the checkbox for "save password" is deselected. This happens for any e-mail account, be it POP3, IMAP, gMail, Yahoo, any of my accounts.
    3. A window pops up that says... "Keychain "login" cannot be found to store (email address)." Choice buttons offer either "cancel" or "Restore to Defaults" -- I choose "Restore".
    4. Warning prompt comes up saying... "Are you sure you want to reset your keychain environment to the default?" -- I choose "Yes".
    5. A window pop up asking for my login password, and says... "Please enter your login password. This password will be used to create your new keychain." -- I enter my login password.
I have to do this every time I launch an app that requires some sort of password access, and the passwords do not stay in the rebuilt keychain - they disappear once the app is quit and then re-launched. Even if my mac is not restarted but the app is quit and then re-launched, the passwords do not stay in the keychain.
Note: I am the only user on this Mac, and I do require a password to log-into the computer - I use the same password for login as I do for my keychain access.
    Any ideas?

OK - here's where I am with this, any help anyone here could give me would be greatly appreciated.
I booted from my 10.4 install dvd and ran disk utilities on the volume, and it did find and repair some problems. Booted mack into the os and ran keychain repair, which found no errors. However - the problem STILL occours with passwords not staying in my apps and in the Finder.
This is occouring in these three applications:
    - Dreamweaver
    - Transmit (FTP/SFTP browser/posting app)
    - Entourage
In the finder, this is happening when I try and mount server volumes - even though I tell Keychain to save my passwords, they are not saved.
I'm beginning to think that this is either a memory issue or maybe even the installed battery on the motherboard - I use my computer constantly, and it is on nearly 24 hours a day / 7 days a week. Or maybe I'm just looking for a reason to upgrade to an Intel PowerBook Pro?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you everyone!

  • Can i backgrade my iphone 4s from ios6.0.1 to ios6? - Wifi is greyed out and will not switch on, tried factory reset but keeps restoring to ios6.0.1, please release ios6.0.2 ASAP apple!

So yeah I recently upgraded to iOS 6 fine no problems, a few bugs here and there regarding txt shortcuts not working when imessages switches back to sms when loosing 3g but nothing major.
Then a few weeks ago I updated to iOS 6.0.1 as I thought maybe a few bugs would be fixed.  I backed up my phone (for the first time with iTunes).  Then after the 6.0.1 update I had (as it seems a lot people have had) a problem with the wifi not switching on and being dimmed out.  I tried various "reset the phone" "reset the network settings" options that people have put on these support forums.  So my last option was to reset the phone to factory settings- I did this two times, firstly reseting it to factory settings and restoring it to the back up, then reseting to factory settings and setting the phone up as new.  After doing this second reset my phone did not go back to iOS 5 (which is factory settings) but iOS 6.0.1 and I still have the same Wifi problem.
Apple- please release 6.0.2 ASAP, this bug is costing me ton of 3g data as I use my iPhone regularly for work and use it at home all the time.
Is there anyway I can back grade to ios5 or ios6?
    PLEASE HELP!!
    thanks
    Martyn

Ok after reading a few posts I relalise you can not down grade os on iphones and never have been able to.
But how come I can't factory reset my phone properly? sure factory reset will mean it will reset the phone and its os to the os that it built with with was ios5?

  • After charging my iPhone 5s the screen has locked with the Apple symbol and will not switch on or off even after connecting to iTunes , i am using the original Apple charger

Has anybody had a similar problem , after charging my iPhone 5s (with the Apple charger and cable ) , the screen on the phone has locked with the Apple Symbol , the phone will neither switch on or off for me to take any action , restore , upgrade etc

I think your iPhone must be stuck in Apple logo. If so, you need to read the help guide: iOS: Not responding or does not turn on - Apple Support
