Lately, every time I plugin my iPod...

I get the "DO NOT DISCONNECT" message on my 80GB iPod and it stays that way until I reset my iPod. This has started happening every time for the past month now. Why?
I have properly 'ejected' my iPod via iTunes, and from the desktop. Twice, I restored my iPod. I am trying to find out why this is happening all of a sudden. Of course, the warranty to my iPod has expired, as well as my AppleCare (convenient timing, eh?). I am not really willing to buy a new iPod yet.
I have the latest versions of iTunes and the iPod software.
It's starting to bug me, to say the least. Anyone have any other suggestions for troubleshooting and finding the root cause as to why my iPod is always busy when I plugin to my computer?

Check Activity Monitor, see if you're getting any "SystemUIServer" crashes.

  • Why is it that every time I hook my Ipod up to my laptop it makes duplicates of the songs in my Ipod?

Every time I link my Ipod touch to my laptop it starts to sync with my computer even though I have it on the "manually manage music and videos" option. Along with syncing, it makes copies of the same songs that are already on my Ipod so now I have 3 of the same song on there. Is there anybody else that has had this problem? Please help!!!!!!!

Try to delete compatibility.ini in the Firefox Profile Folder.
That should initiate compatibility, but hopefully it won't return a next time.
If that doesn't work then try a new profile.
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile:
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Basic+Troubleshooting#w_8-make-a-new-profile
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

    - Try another cable.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.

  • My iPod playlists are deleted every time I plug my iPod into my MacBook Pro.

Every time I plug my iPod into my MacBook Pro, my iPod playlists are deleted.  I have all the sync features turned off on both the iPod and computer.  What is happening?  I hate having to remake my "Workout" playlist everytime I plug in!

Correct.  All sync features are turned off and if is 'manually manage' somewhere, I have checked the box to do so.  So basically everything is set for me to manage manually, yet my iPod playlists are still being deleted.

  • Itunes crashes every time I connect my Ipod..

I had my Ipod connected while running a software update 1-2 weeks ago. Shortly after the update completed, my computer gave me "A computer must be restarted" mesage, and promptly shut down all the programs I was using and rebooted. Currently, not only does Safari refuse to operate, my Itunes crashes every time I connect my Ipod, preventing me from altering information or transferring songs. I've done everything but 'restore'-- I'm afraid that if I reset my Ipod, I'll lose the songs I already have.

    Repair Permissions in Disk Utility.
    Update to 10.4.4.

    Try it now.

  • Every time I eject my Ipod from ITunes 7, it erases everything

Every time I eject my ipod (with clickwheel) from ITunes 7 after updating, it takes a long time, and then when it finally ejects, all my songs are erased from the ipod. When I reconnect to my iBook, I have to restore the ipod... every time!
After the restore, and the whole library is re-copied, the ipod seems to eject itself automatically and is fine. It's only when I reconnect the ipod and try to sync it after I've bought new songs.
Has anyone else had similar problems? Is my ipod just dying, or too old for iTunes 7? Help!

  • HT2188 every time I plug the ipod into the computer itunes opens then quits unexpectedly

After i-tunes quits, ipod says synching and then connected...
Your iPod is a shuffle?  A shuffle has no screen, so if iTunes is not running because it unexpectedly quit, where are you seeing the iPod say "syncing" and "connected."  Is it a nano?
If it's a nano (or an iPod with a screen), you can disregard the question about the LED "light." What appears on the screen is good (plus the Disk Utility and System Profiler results), because your iPod appears to be recognized properly by the computer.  But there may be some data corruption on the iPod's storage that is causing iTunes to crash when it tries to do the initial sync.
If you don't have a problem with erasing what is currently on the iPod (because everything is in your iTunes library you can just resync it), you can try  the following.  Put the iPod into Disk Mode
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1363
(This assumes your iPod is not a shuffle, because there is no Disk Mode for a shuffle.)
If you can put the iPod into Disk Mode, connect it to the Mac.  I don't think iTunes will start up automatically.  Then run iTunes.  If iTunes says something about "recovery" and prompts you to do a Restore, do the Restore.  This will erase the iPod, reinstall its software, and set it to default settings.  If the cause is data corruption and is not hardware-related, the problem may be resolved.

  • Videos updated every time I connect my iPods

So every time I connect my iPod classic or my iPod video 5th gen to iTunes, it keeps on “updating“ some of my videos. So I have to wait until it syncs them back to my ipods until I can disconnect. I really don't understand why it does that so I would like some help. iTunes is up to date. It doesn't re-sync all of my videos, only videos that I have converted.

  • Okay, so every time I plug my iPod Touch into my laptop it always imports my videos

Okay, so every time I plug my iPod Touch (4G) into my laptop it always imports my videos & photos. I don't want my videos and photos saved onto others files on my laptop so how do I stop this from automatically happening when I plug in my iPod?
    Thanks! Laura,

There should be a pane in your photo program that can control what your iPhone does when plugged in.

  • A different error every time I sync my iPod Touch 64GB

I have an iPod Touch 64GB. After iOS4 upgrade and iTunes update, at least half of the times I connect it to my pc (Windows 7 64bit) some error comes up like, the ipod is disconnected (when it's not), a duplicate file has been created, the requested file cannot be found, error -48, error -64... you name it.
When this happens, I get a screen asking if I want to set it up as a new iPod, or if I want to restore from backup. If I select restore from backup, it tries to, takes an hour and then some error pops up, forcing me to set it up as a new iPod, which takes another hour.
A few days ago I decided I'd had it and restored it completely to factory settings, losing all my information (remember it never can restore from backup?) in the hopes that it would make it function normally again. Until last night... when I tried syncing again and again the errors, and having to set it up as a new iPod.
I've read many posts here, about deleting iPod Photo Cache and other solutions, none of them work. My iPod is NOT jailbroken, nor do I use any iToner or any other plug-in or weird non-Apple application to tweak it somehow...
    Any answers?
    Any suggestions?
How do I avoid having to set up my iPod as new every time I plug it to my pc?

Ok, so I tried syncing again, again the myriad of errors, one pop up after the next, you know the drill. At last, I set up the iPod as new iPod and when I did that it leaves it as having to sync all podcasts, iTunesU, photos, contacts, calendar, as new. But before I did that, a new pop up, an update for the iPod software version 4.0.2 (8A400). I updated the iPod and then checked all the boxes to sync all my content... so far, it's working. I'm hopeful that this update will fix the problems. If not, then I think I'll have to take it back to claim the warranty. Cause I don't see what else to do. I'll be back here with news.

  • My coumpter restarts every time I connect my iPod touch

It was working just fine yesterday.
But now every time I connect it my coumpter restarts before I connect to iTunes or anything. It is also picking it up as a camera.
I dont know what to do and I got it just yesterday.

  • Every time I sync my iPod or iPad I get an error message "unable to load provider data from Sync Services"

Every time I connect my my iPod or iPad to my laptop  I get the error message "iTunes was unable to load provider data from Sync Services. Reconnect or try again later" There is no problem with my internet connection and syncing then seems to occur OK.  I upgraded to iOS 5 recently but have been getting the problem for several months. Due to recent problems with iCloud I am now concerned that this may be something significant that could lead to my losing data.
    Anyone got any ideas?

Doublechecking. You've tried the following document?
iTunes for Windows: "Unable to load data class" or "Unable to load provider data" sync services alert

  • Why is it every time I connect my iPod Classic, iTunes 11.1 freezes?

This only started happening recently. Every single time i connect my iPod, iTunes just stops responding.
I have a 160 GB newer model and Windows 7
Also I've formatted and restored it more than enough times

Stared happening when I updated to iTunes, version 11. Both on Mac OS-X 10.6 and Windows 7 platfiorms. Bounced back to an earlier version and this corrected the problem. Restored and reloaded without any difficulty. Make sure to disable AUTOMATIC UPDATES in preferences in the general pane. Keep a spare version of the application/program so that in case you need it if anything happens or somebody updates your machine if you take it in for service.
Problems associated so far from my perspective using Mac and Windows are: iPod disappears from the desktop, iPod freezes; host computer freezes; iTunes library does not load correctly or at all; Formatting on Windows based computers shows formatted when in fact it did not; iPod may not respond correctly after ejecting.
Hope this helps. Running iTunes version 9.0.2 (originally furnished with my 2009 MacBook). This is from the restore disc and works like a charm. I have the 5th generation 30 Gb iPod.
Inquiries accepted. If I can help, all the better.
