Latency and Cubase sx3

Lads please help me.
I got Cubase SX3, being the most used professional program at this current time. I can't get rid of latency. I'm using windows2k and a soundblaster Augiy2 Platinum card. I really have to get this problem solved, çause i can't work at this time.
Who will make me the happiest arranger of today?

Make sure you're using the creative or audigy asio drivers and not the multimedia drivers. Yes, use asio4all it is free and good. I would not advise the use of Sblaster/Audigy cards with high and DAWS like cubase SX3. However, they are generally built for gaming and are excellent for that but it would be best to use a simpler, more dedicated card like the cheap Emus or Maudio Deltas which can be obtained for well under £100 and, using the latest drivers, are pretty rock solid at the moment. If you can afford it the Hercules is rock and easy to set up and has loads of in/outputs.
Look on the cubase forum for recommendations for other soundcards.
There is a folder which should be installed in your SX3 folder called "ignoreportfilter" which has a file of the same name and instructions for use and description. You should put this file into your SX3 folder. If it has not been installed look for it on your installation cd or at the Steinberg ftp site which can be found via:
http://www.steinberguk.com/ look at the top line, goto downloads/pc updates and look for the link to the ftp site under the header near the top of the page then just browse through the folders. You may also find you can update to SX3.01.623 if you haven't already.
ps: Have you set Win XP Processor Scheduling for "Background Tasks" ? It's vital.

Patchmix routing through Cubase sx3

Hey all,
I am having some trouble (obviously lol) and I am gonna start to cry pretty quick. I am not normally prone to fits of rage but I am sorely being tested here.
I am running Cubase SX3 with the Patchmix DSP version 2. I previously tried it on 1.81/1.82 with the same outcome.
1st: I can only get mic sound into Cubase if I change the Cubase inputs to wave, going direct from the mic b port on the front breakout panal does not allow sound. This is horrible, really. My patchmix strip for mic b shows input but the asio 15/16 channel Cubase uses shows nothing, not until I put cubase on wave input.
2nd: Perhaps more annoying, I can listen to my MIDI keyboard just fine through VST in Cubase as well and it sounds great. I can arm recording and woot!!! sounds great! Then I hit record, and I loose ALL sound, nothing is heard even if monitoring is on, no MIDI data is recorded, and the data track itself deletes once I press stop (sometimes) likely because nothing is there. Once I hit stop, WOW!!! it sounds great! One note, when recording and no data or sounds show, I can still see the MIDI data peak meter activating.
I figured since I am failing to get anything recorded at all, maybe I have simply screwed my settings in Patchmix. I have reset it, loaded the cubase 2 template, and still no midi. If there is ANYTHING that anyone can suggest, I would be so grateful. I have been doing this for almost a week and have merely succeeded in freaking out.

This is quite old thread and the OP has not posted more here so I suppose you don't necessarily reach him herefrom anymore.
Your system specs could be helpful.
Could it be a settings issue (driver is set something other than your project)?
Have you installed the latest drivers (IIRC, there were some issues w/ those bundled w/ card).
Also, does other ASIO software crash too? You could try some of these:

Decreasing latency and increasing down/up speeds

My latency is usually between 30ms and 50ms. My speed is 2454kbps down and 350kbps up. It's really hard to do some good gaming at those speeds and especially with that kind of latency. I'm running through my wireless router. I'm on a Buffalo WHR-G54S Airstation Wirless-G. How can I decrease my latency and increase my speeds?

I am paying that extra money for the high speed. I should be getting at least 3500kbps/down and around 1200kbps/up. I tested my apartment neighbor's speeds and he tested out at 3200kbps/down and 900kbps/up, (latency only less by about 5ms on average), and we are on the same internet package. He's running on a pc with more than out of date equipment and I know my macbook should kick his pc's butt. Fine, forget the router and the wireless. Being hardwired into my modem, how can I achieve greater speeds and semi-more importantly, how can I decrease my latency time?
P.S. Is there a way to get the speeds I desire while being hardwired into the router? (Reason being because I like to play my 360 online as well, and I'm gettin some semi-bad lag everywhere I go). If not, I'll go hardwired permanently... until I get a better router of course.

CUCM Security - Are Jitter, Latency and Packet Loss Stats in Clear Text ?

I've reviewed the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Security Guide and see no suggestion that implementing encryption prevents MoS scoring. In other words, when you implement encryption, do you still have access to jitter, latency and packet loss information in clear text?

Well.. the phones measure the statistics.
The phones then report the stats to CUCM for inclusion in the CMRs.
... as I recall this is done via SCCP.
So yes, it's clear text, unless your signalling is encrypted generally. On most clusters it's not.

Thanks for the swift reply, I have been looking online and a loose plug seems to be somewhat of an issue with many, I hope mine is actually a problem and not what others are experiencing. It's taken me this long to even reach out for the simple fact I HATE being a complainer but this is just horrible.

High latency and some PL, culprit seems to be a router within comcast

Hi: I reported this issue to Comcast support but I think I'll post it here too. I'm seeing high latency routing through the Comcast network to a variety of locations. In all endpoints I try, I see high latency except when I hit Comcast endpoints (which makes sense). Here's some output for you: WinMTR outputTraceroute output Note that in all cases, there is a significant slowdown somewhere between hop 9 and 11, always at a comcast router. This issue has been going on for a few hours. Anyone else seeing it?

Hi: (Not sure of the correct forum for this type of request so I'm reposting here after first posting over here) I posted a couple days ago with some issues that seem to have returned. Seeing high latency and occasional PL trying to get from my home to a variety of well-known endpoints. WinMTR output. Anyone else seeing the same? Comcast? This is starting to become a thing. Latency and Intermittent connection since 24th of July.

There is a large tree branch leaning on the cable wire in the back rinning from the main box to the pole. The wire looks intertwined in smaller branches and a larger branch leaning heavily on it making like a v effect. This would cause noise frequency and an intermmittent connection according to what I read online. Accordingly any weight on a cable wire would cause for an signal interference. The area was affected by several outages in the last 2 weeks, which appeared to be resolved, one which was a lightning strike on one of the Nodes. I believe there still be something wrong because others in the area are getting intermittency and weak signals at certain times and not others. Since I use the internet for work purposes I need the connection to provide over 100mbps of download at least 99 percent of the time. This is what I am paying for. I am getting 30 at times and 100 at others causing it to be difficult to do my job. I have had the service checked several times and they keep reporting yellow signal of high noise frequency comming to the co-axle from somewhere. There were not able to pin point it, but the large tree branch may be the issue. After speaking to several reps. over the last 2 weeks and reporting the need to free the drop wire from the tree branch at least a dozen times to reps in technical support, I found out yesterday that there is no NOTES taken anywhere on the account reporting a tree branch issue. This convinced me that comcast is falsifying/modifying the support call notes for some reason. In fact since the 29th of July when a technician took pictures of the issue and allegedly reported this to maintenance, NOTHING has been done about the tree branch or the latency and intermittent connection I still have. I also had a major CREEPY experience with the technician that came out here that day. I now have an appointment for Monday which was rescheduled again from Thursday without notice and I waited hour on Thursday for someone to show up, but no one did and they rescheduled it until Monday without an explanation. Supervisor said it might be because they needed a bigger team to come out on Monday. If this is not taken care of on Monday Corporate will be hearing more of me.

Can anyone tell me how to set my Platinum Pro card with Cubase SX2...I'm also having Latency problems recording in 24bit-96hrtz...Should I buy a mixer or is The Audigy breakout box good enough...many questions I know...I hope ye can help me,,,,

Audigy 4 and Cubase SX 3.0

Hello,
i need help because
in Cubase i can't use the "SB Audigy 4 ASIO 24/96" driver, supplied with my Audigy 4 (internal board).
When i set this driver in the Cubase setting i can't see any sound in the input channel, and nothing
can be recorded. While "SB Audigy 4 ASIO" can record but only at 48Mhz...
To record at 96Mhz i MUST set the Asio Multimedia Driver, but the latency time is around 105 ms!!!
The driver 24/96 has only 2 inputs, so i think i don't have to route the I/O anyway
Is there any trick to make it work correctly?
Does anyone work fine with Cubase SX and Audigy 4?

Have you tried if the source needs to be set in Surround Mixer instead of Cubase (normally ASIO bypasses the CT Mixer recording settings).
Asio4All will give you lower latencies but not the ASIO functionality.

Audigy 2 zs platinum and cubase sx prob

I bought a creative audigy 2 zs platinum and use cubase vst 2.02.
I chose creative asio in the vst multitrack window (devices menu).
the problem is the wave volume level in the creative mixer is not working when i use cubase. with other applications it works fine.
is "creative asio" the best choice to get low latency?

Perc H700 Raid controller
Windows Server 2012 R2
Intel Ethernet X520 10Gb
12 near line SAS drives
I have tried both Starwind and the built in Server 2012 iscsi software but see similar results. I am currently running the latest version of starwinds free
iscsi server.
I have connected it to a HP 8212 10Gb port which is also connected via 10Gb to our vmware servers. I have a dedicated vlan just for iscsi and have enabled
jumbo frames on the vlan.
I frequently see very high latency on my iscsi storage. So much so that it can timeout or hang vmware. I am not sure why. I can run IOmeter and
get some pretty decent results.
I am trying to determine why I see such high latency 100'ms. It doesn't seem to always happen, but several times throughout the day, vmware is complaining
about the latency of the datastore. I have a 10Gb iscsi connection between the servers. I wouldn't expect the disks to be able to max that out. The highest I could see when running IO meter was around 5Gb. I also don't see much load
at all on the iscsi server when I see the high latency. It seems network related, but I am not sure what settings I could check. The 10Gb connect should be plenty as I said and it is no where near maxing that out.
Any thoughts about any configuration changes I could make to my vmware enviroment, network card settings or any ideas on where I can troubleshoot this. I

If both StarWind and MSFT target show the same numbers I can guess it's network configuration issue. Anything higher then 30 ms is a nightmare :( Did you properly tune your network stacks? What numbers (x-put and latency) you get for raw TCP numbers (NTtcp
and Iperf are handy to show)?

DFSR performance question - high latency and high bandwidth - windows 2012r2

first question here...
We have a pair of backup servers, connected with a 1G WAN link (290 ms latency).
I am replicating backup files (mainly SQL files) between them (one-way), for DR/BCP purposes.
a Get-DfsrState regularly shows hundreds of files in waiting state, and only 16 or so being downloaded at the same time. The system is using very little bandwidth, much less than what I have set in the replication properties (256mbps)
Is there any parameter I can tweak to increase the number of files being transferred in parallel copies?
Before you ask, the WAN circuits are fine and currently ~80% free. I can easily saturate them using other technologies (rsync, gluster, HTTP). The servers are doing very little as well (2x6C, 32G ram, lots of disks, CPU usually under 10%).
Any idea on how to speed this up? I saw some registry settings in old articles for windows 2008r2, but nothing for 2012r2.

It seems that the number of downloading files is not related to bandwidth.
By default, a maximum of 16 (four in Windows Server 2003 R2) concurrent downloads are shared among all connections and replication groups. Because connections and replication group updates are not serialized, there is no specific order in which updates are
received. If two schedules are opened, updates are generally received and installed from both connections at the same time.

EMU-1616m and Cubase LE Troubleshooting

Hello, I am sorry if this is the wrong part of the forum for this type of question. However, I just got a 1616m hooked up. The sounds and tones it produces are beautiful. As far as recording goes...I can record the mic level in Cubase LE fine. But, when I hook my guitar to the preamp input in the 1616m and try recording an audio track in Cubase LE, the level is peaked out consistently. Now, I assure you I have adjusted all mixer levels appropriately within Cubase LE, within PatchMix DSP, and the levels on the front of 1616m itself. I also adjusted the pickup volumes on my guitar. Is it the fact that line level is louder than mic level? Thanks for any suggestions...

-Does the sample rate of the MP3 match the patchmix or Cubase? That distortion might be a sample-clock problem, internal versus external?... I don't know anything else,,, sorry... Make note what ver. of Cubase (VST? from the e-mu software bundle?) you use.. I had similar problems back when I used my EMU 1860m and it was the Cubase software just being flawed. I also had to rethink how I channeled my ASIO or DirectSound drivers (Whatothers there are.) It was odd to see two sets of mixers instead of there being only one. The most straight forward thing to use might be the directsound or soundmapper drivers in Cubase.
