Latency issue when rewired to Reason

I'm not sure if this is due to the recent Mac OS X update but all of a sudden I seem to have a latency problem when using Reason rewired to Logic Pro 9.
Logic's I/O Buffer Size is set to 64 samples with a resulting roundtrip latency of 5.3ms.
This setting is perfectly ok so where's the latency coming from?
THANKS

Ahh yes, I changed the setting to 'live' and that has improved things greatly.
THANK YOU

  • Snow Leopard - Latency issues when waking from sleep

I own two macs ('09 mini and unibody macbook), both of which connect wirelessly to an airport extreme N router. Since upgrading to Snow Leopard I have been dealing with terrible latency issues when the computers wake from sleep. Ping times from local servers increase from around 23ms to 220ms and webpages load slowly. A quick reboot solves the issue. Connecting directly to the airport extreme with a patch cable also solves the latency issue so I know it's just with wireless.
Has anyone else experienced this problem since upgrading and, if so, what are you doing to solve the issue?

I use Ethernet so I cannot comment but have you tried trashing the airport pref.plist and removed the preferred networks in the network set up in System Preferences and then set up the wifi connection again?
This seems to help with a lot of airport problems on this forum.

  • Extremely SLUGGISH behavior (latency mainly) when ReWiring.

I've bumped my buffer down to 126 and am still getting latency when I perform Reason and Ableton instruments via ReWire. I can't figure it out!
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Are you trying to ReWire both Live and Reason at the same time? Is there a problem when you try to ReWire just one?
Is there latency when you avoid ReWire, and play the same instrument in Reason or Live?
Does the problem happen even if you open a new project in both Logic and the slave app, and with just one instrument?
Is Logic running well other than this?
I am actually experiencing latency when Logic is running by itself too. My project is NOT heavy at all. I'm talking 4 or 5 tracks right!
Logic seems to be running great besides this little hiccup.
I already had my "ReWire Behavior" setting as "Live" I've messed around with my buffer setting but it is still at 128 and there is still latency happening.
Any other suggestions? I really appreciate it!

  • Misaligned Bounce when rewired with Reason/Record

I have several projects where I rewire Record/Reason into Logic. This is not unique to one project, this is happening to EVERY Logic project I have.
When I play the track rewired, it sounds fine. When it is bounced, it is horribly misaligned. I've tried offline and realtime bounce--no difference.
    I'm using Logic 8 and Reason5/Record1.5

Same issue with Logic Pro 9 and Reason 5.01 for me and everyone else using this set up that I know of.
This seems to be a bug for Reason but it SERIOUSLY needs attention!

  • High latency issue When connected through Wifi

    Hi
I have configured wlc 2504 with cisco 3600 ap .when i connected my laptop wlan on n range,i tried to ping with my network devices am getting high latency 130ms,150ms
Can anybody provide solution for this
    by
    Veeramani.G

    Hi Veeramani,
There are actually a lot of different factors that can go into high latency type problems on your wireless deployment such as co-channel interference, interference from other wireless devices, and overall utilization on the AP/Channel.  With that said, there are a number of questions that need to be answered:
    1. Is this issue isolated to either the 802.11b/g 2.4Ghz, the 802.11a 5Ghz, or both bands?
    2.  While associated to the Access Point, in the Controller Web interface, navigate to Monitor > Access Points > 802.11a/n or 802.11b/g/n(pick the band your client is associated on) > Find the Access Point and scroll to the far right.  Hover over the small blue box and select 'Detail'.  Find the section labeled 'Load Statistics' and let me know what you see as the Channel Utilization percentage as well as the 'Attached Client Count'
    3. Since you have a 3600, I am assuming you have CleanAir enabled on them.  Navigate to Monitor > Cisco CleanAir, and see if you can pinpoint any noticeable interfering devices with high % Duty Cycle

  • Latency Issue When Multi-tracking For Webstream Audio

We are using Audition on a iMac 24". The input to the iMac is from a Yamaha M7CL via a Dante network, then through Audition, then sent via a Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 to Newtek Tricaster 8000. There is noticeable latency. The audio is not syncing with the video. Our video output is in real time, but the audio output from Audition is not. What could be the problem?

Sounds like we're on to something...
Do you have the Sound Output on your Mac set to the
Ozone and have the monitors connected to it as well?
The only way to get zero-latency in the headphones
during recording is to use the headphone jack on the
Ozone. Problem is though, USB audio devices are worse
than FireWire when it comes to latency.
yeah the sound output is set to the ozone and the speakers are connected to the ozone. there isn't any latency when recording, but when i play it back there is a delay. are you saying that i should connect the headphones into the ozone instead of the speakers? will this prevent latency during playback? please let me know and thanks for your help, thus far.

  • Network Printer Latency issue

    Dear All,
i am posting for the first time in this forum, i usually go through other peoples similar issues and see the solution they are provided, but this time i have failed and decided to ask my own question,
i am taking care of a small network in our office, we have about 20 users connected and 5 printers on the network, but lately we have latency issues when printing something from any computer to any printer on the network, it will take  4-15 minutes
untill the document is printed out, weather a page of text or anything smaller,
i have everything connected to a Dlink DGS 1210-48 Gigabit switch, i have tried changing the cable to the printers, i have updated and reinstalled drivers still no luck,
and i have noticed that its not the driver problem because when i ping the printer ips it gives me a consistent <1ms reply and then suddenly there is one destination host unreachable reply then it proceeds with <1ms reply for maybe 1 or 2 minutes then
    again destination host unreachable reply,
please if any suggestions i will really appreciate

    Hi,
For this problem, its hard to identify where the problem it is, but firstly, it would be better to confirm if it is every client PC had this problem.
Then check Firewall settings if it caused the problem.
If we still couldn't find the reason of this problem, it would be better to use Netowrk Monitor to capture network trace if it is DNS resolution or other unknown reason cause the problem.
Using Network Monitor to capture trace, you can set filter to IP address, then make a trace both Client PC and the computer which connect with printer.

  • Video Latency Issue On The Mac Book Pro 2.4 With Leopard 10.5.5

Gear: Macbook Pro (early 2008 model) - 2.4gigs cpu 2gigs ram - all the latest updates... no other applications running during the test
Hi folks. Currently I am having a latency issue when trying to record directly into iMovie using the built-in microphone and iSight camera. Basically, the video seems 5 - 7 frames late to the audio. I found that a good way to demonstrate this issue was simply doing a few handclaps as a test.
This is a quick handclap test displaying some video latency during recording with the iSight camera in iMovie 08.
    - Just download this link — and import it into iMovie 08 - Here is a link to a zip file that you can import into iMovie 08 - It's 2.5meg - .m4v export - Also it was recorded as standard format and audio midi setup app: audio was set to 44.1:
    http://www.brainbeast.com/37/clap-1-large.zip
    - Play from beginning. As soon as you hear a clap sound — pause with the space bar - then back up before the clap with the left arrows
    - Then click the right arrow several times until you hear the beginning of the clap sound ( This is the audio: start frame)
    - Now — you will notice the video still has an open hand. At this point click the right arrow, counting as you go several times until you see the hand close. This is the amount of frames that the video is late to the audio. For me it seems to be an average of about 5-7 frames late.
Unfortunately iMovie 06 nor QuickTime will not scrub audio as you go frame by frame with the arrow keys so you cannot test it there. If you have some other application such as final cut Pro, you could test it with that.
! IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO PERFORM THE TEST YOURSELF:
    - Just record a new movie in iMovie 08 - using the built-in mic and i-Sight camera — and see if it is also slightly out of sync
Note: to be as fair as possible — I did a slow handclap ( in order to not challenge the frame rates) - also, in order to get the maximum volume I used an open palm ( clap on the palms with your fingers spread out as you can see I did.)
Please let me know if this latency appears to be the same for you as it does for me.
Q: Is it just my machine or does it happen to you too?
Q: Does anyone know a way around this latency issue?
Q: Does anyone know if Apple is aware of this latency issue?

I am experiencing the same incredibly frustrating problem as well. When I record directly into iMovie
'08, the video lags the audio by a fraction of a second.
I have tried shutting down all other applications and having only iMovie up. Same problem.
I tried recording the video into QuickTime instead of iMovie and experienced the same problem. (Which makes me think it is perhaps a hardware or operating system issue.)
I tried the technique suggested here and on other sites of "double-dragging" the clip from the Events pane into a project (one normal drag and one Shift+Cmd drag) so that I had the audio and video as two separate tracks. After muting the audio on the video track, I then attempted to slide the audio over to sync it with the video, but even down at the 1/2 second zoom setting I didn't seem to have enough granularity to move the audio so that it was exactly in sync with the video. I was wishing I could use the arrow keys or something like that to move the audio just one frame at a time.
All I want to do is record a video directly into iMovie '08 - this would seem to be something trivial to do!

  • VPN latency issue

    Hi,
I have a client who tries to connect through Cisco VPN client but he faces a latency issue. When he connects through VPN his download becomes 1Mbps and his internet speed is 15Mbps.He tried to ping to my gateway where the VPN terminates on ASA both by connecting to VPN and by disconnecting from VPN .i.e., Internet. He observed that the ping response is around 750ms when he tries through VPN and it is 15ms when he does it without connecting through VPN.He even tried using Anyconnect but he faces the same issue.
I am not sure where exactly the problem could be.
He is facing this issue randomly in a day and it just gets normal after sometime.
Can someone give me any kind of idea where to look for.

easiest to troubleshoot from the client, start checking the client's Jabber logs and run wireshark

  • AA3 Rewire latency issues...

Why is it when I Re-Wire AA3 with anything, Reason4 for example, when I load redrum there will be a 50 msec delay or so when i hit the pads before I hear it. Im tired of this. The reason I use AA3 with beat production is for recording samples, guitar, etc on top of whatever midi is in Reason. Plus, I like to mix in Adobe. Well, I LOVE Reasons mixer but I hate Fruity Loops and when I use that I like to use Adobes mixer. But whats up with this latency? This hasnt always been a problem and I cant think back to when it first started. It worked fine when I used my Fast Track Pro to record, now in addition I have a Fast Track Ultra8r that is used most of the time and ive never had any latency issues in adobe itself or reason by itself on this computer.
Is aa3 really that much of a resource hog? Anyone else have the same problem or any ideas?? I cant play keyboard when i hear the sound 2 secs after i hit a chord it reaallly messes with my ears and throws me off beat. It would be cool if this happened during post production where I could just up my sample rate. but its happening while recording.

Most obvious to try first is to try changing the I/O buffer size - go into the Audio/MIDI Setup (Applications>Utilities>AudioMIDI setup) and adjust there. Generally speaking you're looking for the lowest value you can get away with before you start to experience digital distortion and drop-outs. I think the default setting is 512 samples - you should be able to reduce it quite a bit depending on your computer's processing power. Hope that helps.

  • Latency Issue with Logic 8 and Reason

    Hello evryone,
I am using Logic 8 with Reason 3.0 and have a Digi 002 as my audio interface. I have set up an aux track in Logic with inputs being RW:L/R and outputs 1&2. When I open Reason after I have opened Logic and go to play an instrument in reason there is massive latency. I've tried messing with the plu-in delay compensation in Logic's prefs. and it didn't have any effect. When I use this set-up with Protools it works beautifully and I don't have any issues like this. Does anyone have any answers or suggestions. Thanks, E.M

Hi and thanks for the response. I forgot to mention in my previous post that I have indeed changed the buffer size time and time again and it has not helped. What is going on forum? This seems to be a common problem I am having with Logic. Why is it so easy to have a set up like this in PT but not in Logic. Ever since I bought this program I have had nothing but stupid little problems like this. Apple, what's going on with the design of this program. How can you have so many cool features and yet not have the most basic things work properly? I am at my wits end as I am wasting time with this product and am about to throw it out the window, trash it to other musicians/composers and go back to PT. Really, where is the Apple support team on this?

  • Logic rewired with Reason midi controller issue.

I use Logic 7.2.3 rewired with Reason and for some "reason" I can't get Reason to recognize my controller which is connected via MIDI to the Digi 003. Any ideas?

Interesting question.. Usually, variation in velocity is a desirable thing, to be able to play an instrument expressively. However, if you want to make your notes all equal velocity, an easy way to do this is with the inspector. Make sure that no regions are selected in the arrange window (so that the inspector says 'midi through'). Then adjust the 'dynamics' setting to 'off' (or whatever the actual terminology is), from that point on, anything you play on any instrument will have the velocity ignored. You can also set this kind of thing up for individual instruments, using the instrument parameter box just below the inspector.

  • Rewire logic pro 9.1.7 to reason 6.5 doesn't auto sync when i open reason after logic?

after i launch logic pro and add an external midi, i open reason but it is not  syncing and giving me the option to rewire ? on hardware interface in reason , the green tab reads saffire which is my interface, and here it should be saying rewire to logic , or similar. why wont logic sync my rewire with reason ?

Probably one is in 32-bit mode & the other 64-bit.  Locate the programs in Finder and "get info" - there should be a tickbox that says "Open in 32 bit mode" or something.  Make 'em match.
