Latency problem with X-Fi Xtreme Au

Hi all. I'm new in this forum. I have a strange problem. I've bought?a X-Fi Xtreme Audio?soundcard,?and I've noticed a serious latency problem with home recording ap
ps.
With my onboard soundcard I was able to play/record with no latency, using the Asio4all driver. With my new s.card I've a very high latency while playing in realtime. Is it a known problem? Is there any solution? My pc is very?powerful, so I exclude any pc's hardware cause. Thanks in advance, bye

Hi Cardan,
I've got the same Problem with high latency as you with my PC express soundcard with VISTA.
Have you got any solutions?

Hi, thank you for your answers.
I have updated the last nvdia driver, the new bios and everything I found on this website, but It doesn't change anything...
Apparently I'm not the only one to have this problem, but I don't know if it comes from Toshiba or from Nvdia.
Do you know if it's normal to have four times "NVDIA High definition Audio" in the audio/video/games controllers ?
When I seactivated it it's a litlle bit less worth (but still not good)...
    I'm using a preinstalled windows 7 64 bit version
    Thank you !

  • High latency problems with HH5/BT inifinty 2

    Hello all!
I'm not really tech savy, so will explain this as best as possible. I'm basically having constantly high latency with it spiking for no reason, even though all my speeds (up and down) are fast and fine. This is also a wired connection running Cata6 cables.
When I first had my internet installed I was running around 18ms constantly. After around 6 months or so, this then increased to around 35ms. Now its normally running around 45ms, with it constantly spiking for no reason what so ever (over 100ms). I've repeatedly reset the router (both through the reset button and just unplugging the power cable). Both my download speeds and upload speeds are both great (will post the test results at the end). I've even restored factory settings.
I've had this latest speed & problem for now around 5 days and I can't clear it with anyway I know how. I called the tech team yesterday and was on the line for over thirty minutes with me explaining the problem to them, but the person on the other end was extremely rude and unhelpful (pretty useless being honest). He reset the router from his end and said there was no problems with it and that BT won't help me any further. He went on to say thats just the internet for you, which I know it isn't. In particular, its mostly affecting my online gaming. I know its nothing to do with the games servers as I house share with a person who's ISP is Virgin Media and they have zero problems playing the same game as me, even though their internet speeds aren't as fast as mine. I know it's not just the system I use. The problem is the same with my laptop, PC, smartphones, PS4 and smart TV.
It's now getting to a point when its becoming pointless having BT installed and its getting near the last straw where I really am just going to cut the service off as its awful.
Does anyone by anychance know how to solve this? If it also helps I live in London, East to be exact.
My speeds are:- Download Speed (Mbps):  73.11
                            Upload Speed (Mbps): 11.63
                            Ping Latency (ms): 43.00
    Thanks to anyone that replies.

Forgot to mention that other users of the hub5a have recommeded setting the DCHP to 21 days , which I think is the max to see if that helps?
Although its does sound  like somethings up if its dropping line connnection.

  • Audio latency problem with VST, SONAR and Audigy 4 PRO

    Hello all,
I have a slight problem with audio performance on my computer and I can't isolate what is wrong. I am using Cakewalk SONAR 4 studio edition, and a recently purchased Audigy 4 Pro soundcard. ( I know it's not quite professional grade, but it works well for me) I recently bought some string instruments from the Vienna Symphonic Library. So far, I love the sound of these "virtual instruments" if you will. The problem comes when I try to record them. I get stuttering and dropouts when I try to record the track in Sonar. I've tried the WDM drivers in 16 and 24 bit modes and the ASIO drivers (which apparently only support 16 bit!?) I know Creative has mentioned that these cards can record easily at 24/96 which is what I'd like if possible. Vienna instruments come in a 24 bit format. Is there something I'm doing wrong or do I need to seriously consider a different soundcard? I use Sonar to bring in the Vienna instruments as a VST. I also apply a reverb on it. When I just play this stuff on my MIDI keyboard, it all sounds great and keeps up. The moment I go to record though, I get dropouts after about 15 seconds or so. Also, is there no way to get ASIO 24 bit support for creative's consumer level cards? I'd be happy with the WDM's personally if those would work. I've looked into the KX project as well but haven't had a chance to try their drivers yet. On a different note, what are the significant differences between ASIO and WDM if any at all? (aside from supported bit rates) My current computer setup is quite powerful and I don't use much CPU power at all so I don't think it's my setup. Intel E6700 (2.67Ghz) Core 2 Duo, 2GB DDR2-800, 320GB Seagate SATA in RAID 1, Nvidia 7600GT, and Creative Audigy 4 Pro. Any help, or insight would be greatly appreciated!
    Matthew

Audigy 4 Pro should support 24-bit/96 kHz w/ ASIO --> have you selected those I/O drivers in Sonar audio settings (Options-Audio-Drivers -tab). ! You need to unselect all I/O drivers first to get those 24/96 drivers selectable)?
Dropouts comes from various sources. Have you checked if the read/write caching is set properly (Sonar, try different settings)?
Stuttering may come from shared IRQ/resources and PCI Latency settings.
If your graphics card is not PCIe then, make this registry tweak
Run regedit and search the key named as DisableProgPCILatency
    - set all 'DisableProgPCILatency' key values to 1 (HEX or DEC) (1 = disabled, 0 = enabled)
    - boot to BIOS settings and find the "PCI latency timer" option --> set its value to 32 or 64 (this is global PCI latency setting)
    - reboot
and check the IRQ situation. If there are IRQ shares between Audigy and other devices/controllers, try to get those fixed by disabling unneeded controllers/devices or by moving the Audigy into another PCI slot (PCI slots #3 and #4 are normally not shared).
    Couple meaninful differences between WDM/KS and ASIO are;
    - you can't get latency lower than 10 ms w/ WDM/KS (well, you can in Sonar by manually editing those buffer values but, the result is not good when you go under 10 ms buffer values (buffersize / samplerate * 1000 = latency in ms --> 512/96000*1000=5.33ms)
    and
    - you can record from one stereo (you can split this to two mono) source at a time w/ WDM (recording source is set in CT Surround Mixer (or windows recording controls))
    - ASIO supports (Audigy serie) locked 'resolutions' only - 16/48 or 24/96
Also, tweak your system for music - http://www.musicxp.net/
Some information on CT ASIO -

  • Delay/Latency problem with POD XTL?

Hello all, does Logic Pro 7 has the same latency issue when using with POD XTL? I have been trying to use POD XTL with GarageBand through the USB port but whenever i record, the recorded clips will always be a few milliseconds behind. I know that I can work my way around by using audio-in, but was also wondering if Logic Pro 7 has the similar problem with the USB connection as I would like to stick with digital recording. Thanks for your help.

I had the same trouble with my xtlive with usb so now I record it by connecting it to my motu828 interface the old way. I can monitor the recording without any delay this way as well.

I can play it in Cakewalk, but I can not assign a MIDI file to it and have it play it without getting the same kind of pops I was getting in stand alone mode. I read an earlier post about problems with NVidia and that is the maker of my motherboard. I have not had any problems with the pops in instances where I am just playing audio from a CD or?by playing a wav. or mp3. I bought this card because of the the ASIO?2.0 compatibility, but I am starting to have my doubts on whether or not this card can handle what Creative claims. Anyone got any ideas? I appreciate any help I can get.

I wanna play professional, I am musician. I use softwares like NI B4, FM7... With my internal card i can play with 1ms, but noise is -40, -30 dB!!! Beacause i bought this Audigy 2 ZS and installed on new windows instalation. I didn't conect anithing but analog speakers. On 2ms there are cracles... What can i do to resolve the problem?
Crackling can be caused by different sources (CPU performance, IRQ/resource shares, etc.) but, you can ease the situation by using 4 or 5 ms latency setting. Even you say you're musician, you can't tell the difference between 2 ms and 5 ms (also, this is not the true 'real world' latency at all you're having there).
    Also, have you
    - checked if your laptop is OK for realtime audio? - http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml
    - already made those 'normal' DAW tweaks - http://www.musicxp.net/
Are you playing on live performances or just for fun/entering MIDI data? If you read from some of those software forums (cakewalk, cubase, etc.) you'll notice, it's possible to use much higher latency settings than 2 ms w/o being called non professional musician. Also, when you enter MIDI data into recording software, it's all the same which latency settings you're using .. data goes always into same position, only soft synth outputs out of time (it's not valuable to record the soft synth output directly even some software allows it).
Hmm... which internal card are you talking 'bout ... onboard audio or some decent pro quality soundcard? Could you name that one (I know most of those and know their capabilities in this type of matter) and, are you using the internal card w/ the same PC/laptop you're using Audigy with and, which driver mode? If it's not in the same PC/laptop then, don't make direct comparison between those two (not equal performance; rather 'compare' w/ those results behind two links given below)). BTW, which 'resolution' are you using (16/24 -bit, 44-1, 48 or 96 kHz)? IIRC, those NI instruments you mentioned, are known CPU huggers so maybe that is part of your latency "issue".
Some generic reading on latency matter:
MIDI keyboard internal response to keystroke -- this is not instantaneous but on a good keyboard should be under 1 msec or so
    MIDI transport latency
    - If you're using MIDI cables, this is 1 msec per note in the chord, before the last note in the chord sounds. In other words, for a 6-note chord, the first note is delayed by 1 msec, the second by 2, etc., to the 6th note that is delayed by 6 msec.
    - If you're using MIDI over a high-speed technology like USB, Firewire, or mLAN, there is still transmission latency but the per-note effect is far, far lower -- probably not measurable.

  • 'Invisible' latency problem with Tascam US-122 mkii audio interface

Firstly, thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer, secondly I'm very new to Logic and troubleshooting DAWs, and thirdly this sort of thing is really difficult to describe. So, here goes:
I'm using a late 2007 macbook with a 2.2Ghz intel core 2 duo and 2GB ram with Logic Pro 9. My audio interface is a Tascam US-122 mkii.
The reported latency I should be experiencing is far less than what I can hear. That is, if I record a part through the Tascam, through guitar line in or by a microphone, when I then go to playback the track the recorded track is VERY misaligned with the rest of the song. It's usually by about a third of second- I can match them up with a mouse drag but that's only for very simple parts, e.g 1/4 notes or something. Logic isn't compensating for any latency between the interface and Logic. Is there any way to fix this? I suspect this might be something to do with the drivers for the Tascam, rather than Logic....or is it that the mac's spec is too low? If I got another audio interface, such as the Apogee One, would that be more 'plug and play' in giving me less issues with simply trying to get a recorded part appear where it should do? I've tried experimenting with the drivers (I'm currently using the one recommended by tascam) and by changing the I/O buffer size.
One other weird problem is that if I set the output and input in logic for the Tascam, I end up with really bad CPU spikes. Practically a full bar. But if I set it to the input only from the tascam, and use the default output with logic, no CPU spikes. The latency/alignment problem is basically unaffected by this.
Here's an excerpt from an email I sent to Tascam support, which sets the problem out in a slightly different way.
"In logic, when I have both the output and the input through tascam, obviously the recommended setting, it doesn't say there is much latency but there are all sorts of CPU spikes. Even though it says there isn't too much latency (i think about 15ms, which is more than i'd prefer), there is a large delay when playing back a recorded track. Basically, the tracks are misaligned about by a third of a second.  On top of this, and I don't know if this indicates anything, but when I use the tascam as both input and output I can't access the lower I/O buffer settings in logic, i.e 32 or 64, as there's a lot of white noise. I was under the impression using lower I/O buffer settings might help, but....
When I set the output to the default device (macbook sound output) and take my input from the tascam, there's still a large delay. Logic reports the latency as being lower than before by about 6 ms, but upon playing back a recorded sound there really isn't any difference- we're still looking at about a third to half a second misalignment between the tracks.  However, strangely, with the default output and tascam as input, the macbook can happily get down to an I/O buffer size of 32 in logic while using low latency mode, but as I say this hasn't helped the problem at all.
So, despite getting lowish reported latency, I'm getting a MASSIVE delay between a track I've recorded and where it should be, that is, about 1/3 to half a second later. "
Anyway, thanks again to anyone who has any suggestions. I've tried as much as I can think of and have had a good look in the manual and a look around these forums, but since I can't really figure out what the problem exactly is it's proving hard- so apologies if it's something really obvious.
Thanks to anyone who helps, I know it might not be very interesting since Logic 10 just came out......
    Mike

Actually, at long last and thinking about it differently, I've sort of sorted out my own problem- the 'delay' or 'invisible latency' was caused by using the tascam as input and the macbook as output. But I'm still getting massive CPU spikes and can see a lot of crashes incoming....is that because of a poor driver, or because of a poor macbook? Would something like the apogee one be less of a CPU hog?

  • SOftware installation problems with x-fi xtreme music - he

I just installed the card into my computer.
Of course I wanted to install the latest drivers so I went to creative support and chose everything properly. I downloaded "Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi series Driver 2.07.0004"
When I clicked on the downloada exe file I got message "error code 5002" and it wouldn`t install. Then i went to crati've site once again and looked for that error code - they don`t have anything on that!
Then I manually unpacked exe and started setup.exe - it worked this time. And now I got some "creative audio console". When I click on it I get apparently some cripeled version of software, since there is no equlizer controles and where is that fancy THX setup huh?
I was angry, because all the sites that tested x-fi had some pictures of that management software looking like this http://techreport.com/reviews/2005q4/soundblaster-x-fi/index.x?pg=4
-Why do i have some cripeled sound controls with half the features missing anyway. I tried to figure out the drivers version on that sites and it was "Creative 5.2.5.4"; why was then I offered the "Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi series Driver 2.07.0004" as the latest drivers on creative support site?
I tried to run some aditional setups in unpacked drivers from the creative; namely the setup.exe in "AUDCON" folder, but then I get the error code 6003.
WHat`s up with all that?Message Edited by infiniti on 0--2006 04:40 PM

Boy I'm sure glad I found this thread as I to just received and installed my new X-fi card, then went to Creatives drivers section online and got the drivers (They scanned my puter and said you need this one > critical) and once done I'm looking for my "Cool Blue" tools as I to got that error message on the first CD install but finally got the drop down menu deal from the top of my monitor screen.. I took you guys advise about putting the CD back in again and it was NOTHING like the first time I installed it..Cool graphics and sounds came blasting through my Bose..Sweet.. It was like a totally different set-up from the first and now my new drop down menu has all kinds of cool stuff on it and I now also have an Icon on my desktop.. Thanks to the guy who was peed off and posted or I never would have found my answer from you others. :smileyvery-happy: Winamp sounds GREAT now on the jazz stations..

  • DataGuard question - overcoming network latency problem

    Hi
    Dataguard for 10.2.0.4
Assuming we have a latency problem with the network between the primary and secondary databases in a dataguard configuration.
That means that my bottleneck is currently the network that cannot accommodate the amount of redo that is generated per second by the primary, and archive logs are accumulating on the primary site
Is there a way to configure the redo transport on the primary to transfer the archive logs in parallel – in case there is an accumulation of archive logs waiting to be shipped
I am talking parallel transfer to the same site , not to different sites – just to overcome the network bottleneck
    Thanks in advance
    Orna

    Hi Sybrand,
    Quoting from the doc
'Oracle Database 10g Release 2 introduces the ability to have multiple ARCn processes sending redo for a single archived-redo log over the network, reducing the time required to ship a single archive log to a remote destination. In previous Oracle Database releases, only one ARCn process at a time could archive redo from a given log file. The maximum number of network connections that will be used in parallel to perform archival to a destination is controlled using the MAX_CONNECTIONS attribute of the LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_n initialization parameter. The LOG_ARCHIVE_MAX_PROCESSES initialization parameter can be set as high as 30, (the previous maximum was 10)'
My 'back of a cigarette packet' calculation was not meant to be exact just meant to illustrate a point :-)
I still think your confusing bandwidth with latency but I don't want to poke an angry response :-)
    Cheers,

Im running windows 7 64bit on my pc, so Im a bit confused, because the problem is just occured on the mac os, as i read in the other threads.
I disabled the Thx, EQ and VoiceFX in the control panel to get the same "settings" like the mac users by deleting the THXTruStudioPCUSBAudioPlugin.kext but it didnt worked for me.

Plug the Droid in and then find the device driver, remove the device driver, restart windows and your Droid and try again.

You should be able to control I/Os through Windows mixer(s) and Creative Control Panel (comes with the driver package). If you like to install those software intend for X-Fi you need to download the CD image from BadBoys site (if he still has the site up an running). You get those mixers showing up either through panel which pops up when you enter mmsys.cpl in start->run... prompt (Audio tab, Volume buttons). Individual mixer panels can be called with commands sndvol32 (play) and sndvol32 /r (recording). The lag you have there is normally called as latency. You get rid of it by using ASIO driver mode with 2 - 0ms latency settings. You can set the latency through ASIO controlpanel. If the guitarport has an ASIO driver it's own, use it's control panel or try with asio4all driver (http://www.asio4all.com).jutapaMessage Edited by jutapa on 0-9-20080:0 PM
Is this a standalone driver? Or is it something used in addition to an existing sound driver? I'm having a similar problem with my mic, there is a delay (and it has to be turned up really loud to be heard, although that may be a different problem) and I'm looking for a solution.

OK. I just went to Control Panel - Sound - Playback - Digital Output Device (SB Xtreme Audio Notebook) - Properties - Advanced. I experimented with different sample rates and bit depths. Clicked the test button and lo and behold - sound from the HTS! I've tried iTunes, PowerDVD (configured to digital output) and YouTube - no sound! Am I missing something really obvious?
