Latency Tests Report (based on iSchwartz posts)

Hi all,
With an hour to kill at home while my family gets here,I set to discover what some latency figures are on my system.Please look at my signature,the equipment list is current.
Specifically I wanted to see if the latency figures were consistent,in order to insert a record Delay best suited to each IO buffer size for my particular equipment.also,I wanted to explore the possible default latencies of some of my favorite Logic plugins,plus one Nomad Factory EQ.
This is what I found:
Latency Test:
Digi002Rack,
Logic Pro 7.2.3
CoreAudio Driver 7.3cs1
44.1kHz 24bit Logic session
Physical outputs 1+2 and back into channel inputs 1+2,
with 6" balanced TRS audio cables.
Plugin Delay Compensation set to =ALL
Sample Accurate Automation set to=volume,Pan,Sends only.
Pass Keyboard Events to Plugins set to=all.
Audio Merge Defaults: crossfade time 20mS curve 0
Core Audio: Enabled
System Memory requirements:114.0 MB
Driver:Digidesign HW( 002)
I/O buffer Size = (see chart below)
Recording Delay = (see chart below)
Max Number of Audio Tracks: 80
64 Busses option set to: OFF (unchecked)
Universal Track Mode: ON (checked)
Larger Disk buffer: ON
24bit Recording:ON
Software Monitoring: ON
Process Buffer Range:LARGE
ReWire Behavior:Playback Mode (Less CPU Load)
Maximum scrub Speed:Normal
Scrub response:Normal
WITH NO PLUGINS,and 0 as the Recording Delay:
IO buffer size = 32 274 samples
IO buffer size = 64 274 samples
IO buffer size = 128 350 samples
IO buffer size = 256 606 samples
IO buffer size = 512 1117 samples
IO buffer size = 1024 2140 samples
By setting equal but negative values for the sample delay,I compensated the throughput of the Digi002R.
WITH NO PLUGINS,
Recording Delay set negative to sample delay above:
IO buffer size = 32 0 samples
IO buffer size = 64 0 samples
IO buffer size = 128 0 samples
IO buffer size = 256 0 samples
IO buffer size = 512 0 samples
IO buffer size = 1024 0 samples
With 1 Channel EQ on click track:
IO buffer size = 32 0 samples
IO buffer size = 64 0 samples
IO buffer size = 128 0 samples
IO buffer size = 256 0 samples
IO buffer size = 512 0 samples
IO buffer size = 1024 0 samples
With 1 GuitarAmpPro on click track[default setting]:
IO buffer size = 32 14 samples
IO buffer size = 64 14 samples
IO buffer size = 128 14 samples
IO buffer size = 256 14 samples
IO buffer size = 512 14 samples
IO buffer size = 1024 14 samples
With 1 SpaceDesigner on click track[default setting]:
IO buffer size = 32 -128 samples
IO buffer size = 64 -128 samples
IO buffer size = 128 -128 samples
IO buffer size = 256 -128 samples
IO buffer size = 512 -128 samples
IO buffer size = 1024 -128 samples
With 1 LinearPhaseEQ on click track[default setting]:
IO buffer size = 32 0 samples
IO buffer size = 64 0 samples
IO buffer size = 128 0 samples
IO buffer size = 256 0 samples
IO buffer size = 512 0 samples
IO buffer size = 1024 0 samples
With 1 Nomad Factory PEQ5B EQ on click track[default setting]:
IO buffer size = 32 0 samples
IO buffer size = 64 0 samples
IO buffer size = 128 0 samples
IO buffer size = 256 0 samples
IO buffer size = 512 0 samples
IO buffer size = 1024 0 samples
I hope this is informative to you out there wondering all about latency,I/O buffer settings,et al.
Cheers

I posted this to the logic pro forum, but in case it helps anyone else here it is. Since it is slightly different from iS's method, whereby he drags the file around in the sample editor, I use the sample delay plug, I figured someone might benefit from this, and this thread has the right title for it.
Well I don't know about firewire latency issue specifically, but here is the hardware I tested and results:
Apogee Symphony
Apogee Rosetta 800
MacPro
Logic 7.2.3
OS X 10.4.9
Ran the test which went like this for anyone who wants to try it.
1- At your audio interface, take output 8 and connect it to input 8 (or which ever in out combo you want, create a loop back connection)
2- In logic, setup the input of Master Test Track to the output of your click track so you can record your click track to an audio signal. This will give you a nice transient to work with and a simple wave form for you to look at.
3- After you record Master Test Track setup the I/O out of the track to send to track 7-8 (if you used out 8 on your interface) and pan it hard left so it will send on out 8.
4- Create new audio track on track 2 (or available open track) and set its input to input 8.
5- Record the signal that you just sent from Master Test Track to track 2
6- Before you play back, insert in Master Test Track and add sample delay, which is in the logic>delay section of plugins. Be sure it's set to 0.
7- Insert on Track 2 the gain plugin and reverse the phase by clicking the reverse phase button.
8- Be sure that both tracks I/O out at this point go to your monitors. Both tracks dead center.
9- Start playback. I setup a cycle loop over a certain section of the recording so it will loop as I look for the sample diff.
10- Go to Master Test Track and open the sample delay plug and if you click and hold where the number is, you will see a little - show up. This will let you increase the number slowly.
11- As it's playing and you increase the number, thereby delaying the master track's playback, you will hear the sound change and start to fade. At one point it will either become inaudible or barely audible. if you go one extra sample after that, it will start getting louder. The number before it gets louder is your record latency. So if 83 is softer than 84 or 82 than this is your number.
12- To be absolutely sure this is right. Reset your test by deleting the recorded audio on Track 2. Bypass the Master Test Track's sample delay. Now go to the Audio and Hardware Drivers settings and set your Recording delay to the NEGATIVE value of your result UNLESS your sample delay is negative. So in my case it was 83, I set it to -83. Repeat the steps to record the audio through your interface. What should happen this time is that when you play back with the Master Test Track sample delay BYPASSED you should either not hear the click or it should be incredibly faint and sound exactly like your test. This means your test worked, your numbers are right, and your tracks will line up nicely from now on.
What my tests showed...
It seems that using the above setup I have a sample shift of 83 samples. That number is consistent through reboots and hardware shut down. I tried it 3 times and each time the right number was 83.
I don't know if this behavior will be different with firewire audio interfaces since I use an audio card. However, for the hardware I use, it is absolutely consistent.
I will keep my eye on this number for a while to make sure it doesn't shift.
If I misunderstood something about the results, fire off.

  • How do I create a new Folder for each test report based on Serial number?

    I want to be able to create a new folder for each test report based on serial number. Each time a UUT is tested, I want the report to go to the appropriate folder. What is the best way to do this?
    Thanks

    Hello Tman,
    This is a slightly tricky question. The reason being, the report options like the report path etc, are set before you see the serial number prompt when you run your UUT. There might be other ways of getting around this, but a quick solution would be modifying the process model.
    I modified the PreUUT callback to set the report options. I passed the reportOptions as a parameter to this sequence. In the PreUUT sequence, I set the following fields:
    Parameters.ReportOptions.GeneratePath=False
    Parameters.ReportOptions.ReportFilePath= "c:\\"+ Locals.SerialNumber +"\\report.xml"
    I hope this would give you an idea.

  • Activate BI based test reporting - error stating status values missing

    During initial system setup of Solution Manager (as part of an EGI session) we also activated the BI component. I now wanted to activate BI-based test reporting, which is supposed to be done via:
    - Work Center Test Management
    - Settings
    - BI Reporting Settings
    When I reach this screen I get the following error message: "Please add customer defined status values in view u2018V_STATUS_MAPPINGu2019 and assign them to SAP standard values via transaction SM30." The rest of the screen is greyed out.
    Looking at the mentioned table via SM30 I see that for each of the 10 entries maintained (like ALMOST_OK, ...) a customer defined status is maintained as well.
    So what is the problem here?
    Regards
    Martin

    It seems like system is also checking for any status that is not on the list, meaning that for every existing one there has to be a link and not only for every status that is in this view.

  • Launch a Crystal Report Based on a Bus. Objects Universe with code

    Post Author: BobM
    CA Forum: .NET
    Launch a Crystal Report Based on a Bus. Objects Universe with code
    We have purchased Business Objects Enterprise XI R2 and have designed a universe.  We have hundreds of scheduled reports that have been configured through the InfoView.  The problem is that we run these reports on a very odd date schedule and it is extremely cumbersome to go into these report definitions and change the dates in InfoView.
    We would like to be able to store all the report parameters in a table (outside of the BO universe) along with the date and time we would like it to run.  All of this would need to be tagged with the report name so we know what report we are referring to.  Then we would like to sweep this table periodically (or use some other triggering mechanism) and launch the reports as specified (hopefully) using an API/SDK (like the one that used to be available with Crystal) to launch the .RPT file and pass all of the appropriate parameters, and possibly the credentials if need be.
    In short we want to roll our own report scheduler due to some limitations we have found in the InfoView scheduler.
    My main question is, does an API/SDK exist that can launch a crystal report that is based on a Business Objects Universe?  As I had stated, it needs to be able to pass parameters in the report call.  Based on my previous projects using Crystal connected directly to a SQL Server DB, I beleive this is possible, but I would like to hear from others that may be doing something similar with a Business Objects Universe back end.
    We are using Crystal Reports XI R2.  Just to be clear, all of the functionality I specified up to the point where the report needs to be called is not an issue, we know how to do all of that.
    Thanks in advance,Bob

    With the code, you've presumably logged on to the database. To insert objects on to a new report you'd want to use code along the following lines:
    private void AddTableFromDataSet(ref CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument rpt, System.Data.DataSet ds)
    ISCDReportClientDocument rasReport = rpt.ReportClientDocument;
    // Convert the DataSet to an ISCRDataset object (something the ISCDReportClientDocument can understand)
    CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.DataDefModel.ISCRDataSet rasDS;
    rasDS = CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.DataSetConversion.DataSetConverter.Convert(ds);
    // Add the dataset as a data source to the report
    rasReport.DatabaseController.AddDataSource((object)rasDS);
    // Add a field to the report canvas
    // Note: This is quick and dirty. No positioning, resizing, formatting, etc.
    CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.Controllers.ISCRResultFieldController rfc;
    CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.DataDefModel.ISCRTable crTable;
    CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.DataDefModel.ISCRField crField;
    rfc = rasReport.DataDefController.ResultFieldController;
    crTable = rasReport.Database.Tables[0];
    crField = crTable.DataFields[2]; // Hardcoded field "Customer Name" in the Customer table from Xtreme Sample Database
    rfc.Add(-1, crField);
    // Save the report template to disk (without data)
    //object path = @"c:\documents and settings\administrator\desktop\";
    //rasReport.SaveAs("test.rpt", ref path, 0);
    //MessageBox.Show("Done!");

    Also, consult your 'Report Application Server .NET SDK Developer Guide" and  "Report Application Server .NET API Guide". I'd provide the appropriate links, but you do not mention the version of CR you are using...

  • How to create a report based on a DataSet programatically

    I'm working on a CR 2008 Add-in.
    Usage of this add-in is: Let the user choose from a list of predefined datasets, and create a totally empty report with this dataset attached to is. So the user can create a report based on this dataset.
    I have a dataset in memory, and want to create a new report in cr2008.
    The new report is a blank report (with no connection information).
    If I set the ReportDocument.SetDataSource(Dataset dataSet) property, I get the error:
    The report has no tables.
    So I must programmatically define the table definition in my blank report.
    I found the following article: https://boc.sdn.sap.com/node/869, and came up with something like this:
    internal class NewReportWorker : Worker
          public NewReportWorker(string reportFileName)
             : base(reportFileName)
    public override void Process()
             DatabaseController databaseController = ClientDoc.DatabaseController;
             Table table = new Table();
             string tabelName = "Table140";
             table.Name = tabelName;
             table.Alias = tabelName;
             table.QualifiedName = tabelName;
             table.Description = tabelName;
             var fields = new Fields();
             var dbField = new DBField();
             var fieldName = "ID";
             dbField.Description = fieldName;
             dbField.HeadingText = fieldName;
             dbField.Name = fieldName;
             dbField.Type = CrFieldValueTypeEnum.crFieldValueTypeInt64sField;
             fields.Add(dbField);
             dbField = new DBField();
             fieldName = "IDLEGITIMATIEBEWIJS";
             dbField.Description = fieldName;
             dbField.HeadingText = fieldName;
             dbField.Name = fieldName;
             dbField.Type = CrFieldValueTypeEnum.crFieldValueTypeInt64sField;
             fields.Add(dbField);
             // More code for more tables to add.
             table.DataFields = fields;
             //CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.DataDefModel.ConnectionInfo info =
             //   new CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.DataDefModel.ConnectionInfo();
             //info.Attributes.Add("Databse DLL", "xxx.dll");
             //table.ConnectionInfo = info;
             // Here an error occurs.
             databaseController.AddTable(table, null);
             ReportDoc.SetDataSource( [MyFilledDataSet] );
             //object path = @"d:\logfiles\";
             //ClientDoc.SaveAs("test.rpt", ref path, 0);
    The object ClientDoc referes to a ISCDReportClientDocument in a base class:
       internal abstract class Worker
          private ReportDocument _ReportDoc;
          private ISCDReportClientDocument _ClientDoc;
          private string _ReportFileName;
          public Worker(string reportFileName)
             _ReportFileName = reportFileName;
             _ReportDoc = new ReportDocument();
             // Load the report from file path passed by the designer.
             _ReportDoc.Load(reportFileName);
             // Create a RAS Document through In-Proc RAS through the RPTDoc.
             _ClientDoc = _ReportDoc.ReportClientDocument;
          public string ReportFileName
             get
                return _ReportFileName;
          public ReportDocument ReportDoc
             get
                return _ReportDoc;
          public ISCDReportClientDocument ClientDoc
             get
                return _ClientDoc;
    But I get an "Unspecified error" on the line databaseController.AddTable(table, null);
    What am i doing wrong? Or is there another way to create a new report based on a DataSet in C# code?

    Hi,
    Have a look at the snippet code below written for version 9 that you might accommodate to CR 2008, it demonstrates how to create a report based on a DataSet programmatically.

    Hi,
    Anybody know how to filter Open Item Revaluation Report based on GL Date from and GL Date to in R12?
    Since we just upgraded from 11.5.10 to 12.1.3 and found we cannot filter those report for specific date. It shown all data included the old data from 8 years ago also.
    We need to run the report only for specific date only. Please share with me if anyone know about this.

  • Running Aging reports based on Document date in 2007

    Hi All,
    I have an issue while running the Receivables aging report in the 2007 version. The customer usually runs the reports based on the document date. Document date holds more importance in their case.
    However, in the 2007 version, the aging report is totally governed by the posting date. For example, if I change the aging date, the posting date also changes to the aging date and viceversa. If I want to change the aging date to 01/31/09, the posting date u2018Tou2019 automatically changes to 01/31/09 and when we run the report, it will bring in all transactions until the posting date of 01/31/09.
    But, the requirement is to leave the posting date as blank and give the document date u2018Tou2019 01/31/09. This will then pull all transactions until the document date of 01/31/09 irrespective of the posting date.
    As a result, when you run the balance sheet with the document date of 01/31/09, receivables show a different balance. This discrepancy is due to the fact that AR Receivable aging report forces to keep the Aging date = Posting date.
    This was not the case in SAP 2005 version where we were allowed to key in the aging date and the document date to get results based on document date.
    This is very critical as they have recently upgraded from 2005 to 2007 and they are unable to reconcile the balances out of Balance sheet and Aging.
    Please advise.
    Thanks,
    Payal

    Hi Jitin,
    We tried that as well but no luck. There is still a discrepency between what the aging shows and what the BS shows. When we put the Aging date as 01/31/09 and Document date as 01/3109, the posting date 'To' is automatically filled with 01/31/09, so it basically searches for all transactions with the posting date 01/31/09 and document date 01/31/09. This is not the requirement as we do not want to consider the posting date at all while running the aging.
    I also have some screenshots if I can share. I am not sure if I should report this to SAP for further investigation or am I missing something here.
    Thanks for your help.
    Regards,

  • Wireless network test report says wireless radio is not functioning, c7280

    Wireless does not seem to stay on.  Printed a wireless network test report and it says, "The wireless radio is not functioning. Contact HP support".

    Let's reset the printer - turn the printer off, hold the # and 6 keys while turning it back on.

  • On a wireless network test report, I get "The wireless radio is not functioning."

    The printer is a Photosmart C309a all-in-one.  I've used this printer for some time and did so wirelessly earlier today.  Upon ordering a print job the printer failed to produce results.  I ran a Network Configuration Page where it showed the printer to be offline with no Active Connection Type.  I then ran a Wireless Network Test report and received the message: "The wireless radio is not functioning.  Contact HP Support."  IS THERE A FIX FOR THIS?
    I reinstalled the printer software on my computer configuring it with a USB connection, in order to be able to use the printer.  I was able to use it with the USB connection but would most definitely prefer a wireless connection.  I also turned off the printer, router and computer and turned them on in the order outlined in the user's manual, but to no avail.  This, of course, I did before reinstalling the software for a USB connection.

    Hi,
    I afraid the error indicate an an hardware failure..
    You may try using a wired ethernet cable as a workaround, the printer will need to be services in order to repair its wireless card.
    You may find the details to contact HP support by selecting your region and following Technical Support after you buy:

  • My wireless network test report indicates "The wireless radio is not functioning. Contact HP support

    HP Photosmart Premium All-in-One, Model # C309a...Windows 7, 32-bit.  A Wireless Network Test Report tell me "The wireless radio is not functioning.  Contact HP Support***
    ***-Critical: action required
    Naturally my printer is out of warranty.  Has anyone had experience with this problem.  If so, how did you resolve it?

    Is the error message from a diagnostic running on the computer or from the front panel of the c309a?  The page here may help.

    Hi ,
    After creating the dataset under datamodel save your data sets.
