Latency, USB, via computer keyboard?

I am getting very slight latency when plugging my keyboard (instrument) into the USB port of the keyboard on my Mac. Before I go moving wires around (okay, so I am lazy), I wondered if anyone knows if my connection may be the problem, if there is a better connection that will avoid the latency I am getting?
This is not going through my Firebox interface so I know it is not an interface problem. And, if I connect the keyboard (instrument) in via an audio cable (thought the Firebox) there are no problems. So, it is definitely USB related.
Hey, I noticed HangTime still hangs around here. Hey, HT, long time, no see. I have been away from recording (and the discussion group) for awhile.

Originally, I did plug into the computer keyboard. The delay is very slight, but noticeable to me. I am going to try the port on the back of my G5. I am going to try the USB port on the front of the computer, which is a more convenient connection for me. I'll report back with my findings so others will have this as a reference.
I didn't know about the keyboard not being a 2.0 USB connection, although I had heard connecting through the keyboard was slower (not good for the iPod). Thanks for that info AppleGuy.

I am assuming you updated to version 5.1.1, not 5.0.1 since no legitimate version of 5.0.1 is available.
Where is this iPhone from and what means did you use to unlock it?

  • Why can't I charge via computer?

I've got an Ipod Classic (5th generation I THINK) 30GB. The last few weeks I've had trouble charging my ipod via my usb and computer. I can use a wall mount charger with no problem though. I can use my usb ports in my computer for other things with no problem. Would you think this is a problem with my computer/usb ports or my ipod since it's so old?

    Hello musiclover1984,
A variety of things could prevent the iPod from being charged by your computer.  I found some useful information about charging your iPod battery using your computer:
    Unexpected Charging Behavior
There are certain situations where certain iPods may display behavior in which it looks like the battery isn't charging when it actually is. Or you may think your iPod is charging but it is not:
iPod will stop charging if the computer or portable computer it's connected to goes to sleep. Turn sleep off and make sure the portable is plugged into power.
If the battery is fully discharged on earlier iPod classic models, you may have to wait up to ten minutes before your computer will recognize it. Click here for additional information.
If you use Windows 2000, the iPod may stop charging after it syncs.
    Using Your Computer
If you want to charge your iPod using your computer, make sure that your computer is turned on, it isn't sleeping (refer to the computer's manual to find out how to turn sleep off), and that the USB or FireWire port you connect your iPod to provides power. If you use USB, connect your iPod to a high-powered port using the USB cable that came with your iPod (or an Apple-branded cable). High-powered USB ports are typically found on the computer itself—not on your keyboard, which is low-powered.
Note: If using a portable computer, make sure it is plugged into power and that the lid or display is open because if the lid is closed the computer may go into either standby, sleep, or hibernation mode and iPod will not charge.

my computer keyboard has a bad "M" key so I cannot login into my computer from boot     is there a way to bypass the login to reset my macbook pro

Late reply, but if anyone is experiencing the same problem, I've found a solution. For whatever reason, some macbooks don't recognize usb flash drives during the boot-up phase, even though the usb ports themselves are powered (I tested this with a multimeter). The solution then, was to use an external USB hard drive that has its own power supply to install Snow Leopard. I don't know why, but it's the only way I got my macbook (Macbook 2,1/A1181) to recognize the install drive. Every was smooth sailing from there!

  • My iPad is Disabled and I cannot input my passcode.  how do i do that?  I have tried to connect to iTunes and it will not connect via computer connection as I cannot activate my iPad with the pass code.  what do i do?

My iPad is disabled and I can not input my passcode.  what do i need to do?  I tried to connect to iTunes, but it will not allow me to connect via compute USB as I cannot input my passcode for the iPad.

You may need to put the iPad into recovery mode : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808 - you should then be able to reset the iPad and restore/re-sync your content to it

  • Iphone 4 just turned itself off, won't turn on again - sleep/wake button hasn't worked for a while - tried charging (even though it was 50% charged when it shut down) and that makes no difference....tried usb to computer and directo to wall socket. help?

phone 4 just turned itself off, won't turn on again - sleep/wake button hasn't worked for a while - tried charging (even though it was 50% charged when it shut down) and that makes no difference....either via usb to computer and direct to wall socket. Any suggestions...other than heading off to the genius bar tomorrow?

Well, the sleep/wake button is also the power button. If you cannot use it to turn on, then you cannot use it to perform a reset by holding it and the home button together until you see the Apple logo. Those are the only two ways to turn the device on. You can try letting the battery go completely dead and then trying to plug it in. After it has charged for 20-30 minutes, the device may come back on. But, without the sleep/wake button, there is no other way to turn the device on or off.

  • Caps lock and shift not recognized from a usb or virtual keyboard on the Mac

Caps lock and shift not recognized from a usb or virtual keyboard on the Mac client.   You have to use the native keyboard or bluetooth keyboard.

    Hi,
nswint, it seems that we have to do as you described.
Corey, I have the remote desktop client installed on a iPad Air, I can input capital letters via the on-screen keyboard within the remote desktop session that we can activate by a tap on the keyboard icon in the connection bar.
    Thanks.

  • Logic 9 not responding to computer keyboard correctly

In Logic Pro 9, dialog boxes (such as the Save As) do not receive the computer keyboard strokes. Instead, Logic processes them as key commands. This even though the dialog box has the focus and the mouse can select fields and highlight their entries. Very strange. Typing sometimes works correctly, but usually not. And once it doesn't, even if it did earlier, I must reboot to have a hope to fix it.
This happens with the Save As dialog, and with any other dialog box that has typeable fields.
I am current on Logic 9 and Mac OS X.

Okay, I figured out enough to work around it and to fix it without having to restart Logic or reboot. I can't work out the exact chain of events to reproduce it, but here are the important things to do if it happens. And BTW, it happens to me on the File>Bounce dialog box, not the File>Save As dialog. I assume this is actually a bug.
1.) Sometimes the key commands do get disabled, and none of them work. So you have to go to Logic Pro > Preferences > Key Commands and select Options > Initialize. Just like immo says.
2.) Sometimes, this isn't enough. In which case, do two more things...
3.) Be sure the Arrange subwindow has the focus (ie, the white band around the window), and
4.) Be sure the first time you try to enter anything into the Bounce dialog window it is in the Save As filename field, not the End measure numeric field (or any other). If I try to enter any keyboard values into any other field first, I can't and I also can't then enter anything into the Save As field either. I then just have to start over again with the key command initialization step and so on.
These workarounds combined have allowed me to always recover from this issue. Though I do have to do them multiple times in a session, at least when I'm bouncing down.
Thanks everyone for your input and help!
    Best,
    Brian

  • How do I use my computer keyboard instead of a MIDI keyboard to enter notes? In Garage Band I simply go to View - musical typing but there is no such prompt in Logic Pro 7.

Ihave always used my Logic Pro 7 program with a MIDI keyboard for note entry. I do not presently have a MIDI keyboard and wish to use my computer keyboard for note entry. I know this is possible but cannot recall the command to set that up. Can anyone refresh my memory? I know that on Garageband on just need to go to view - musical typing but that is not the command in Logic Pro.

    Hi,
    Hit the Caps Lock key.

  • USB mouse and keyboard don't work on HP Pavilion g7 2203sd, Windows 8.1.

It is not possible to use a USB mouse or keyboard on the HP Pavilion g7 2203sd notebook running Windows 8.1.
A wireless mouse used to work (already some time ago), but now wired or wireless mouse and keyboard don't work any more.
I have tried removing USB devices in the Windows Device Manager and let Windows detect them again, but it does not work.
I read somewhere that it might have to do with the xHCI USB controller that is installed.
I tried removing that and connecting the USB mouse but no succes.
I also looked for driver updates or something to disbale in the BIOS (like xHCI), but nothing found for that.
Can anybody help me with this problem.
    Thanks!

  • HT204053 I have changed my apple ID and I changed it via computer.  When I just went to update my apps, my phone is still showing the old apple ID so I can't log in to update.  How do I change the apple ID from my iphone?

I have successfully changed my apple id via computer.  Now, how do I change it on my actual phone?  I have the 5.1.1 iphone 3G.

I recently changed my email address and want to change my Apple ID account to match. I have created a new Apple ID to match the new account but now I can't sign into iCloud on our phones or computer with the old Apple ID. I can't make any changes on iCloud on our phones because it directs me to the old account, which I can't sign into. I also can't sign me in on my computer to make any changes. Help!!! Now I have two addresses and can't access the one that directly affects my devices.

I don't think you can connect a printer since you won't have the printer drivers. I use FingerPrint from collobos.com to print to my non-AirPrint printers.

  • USB Think/Travel Keyboard with UltraNav Win 7

Although Lenovo assured me I would not have problems with my trackpoint keyboard (USB Think/Travel Keyboard with UltraNav), Windows 7 Pro 64 bit (ThinkCenter M93p) does not recognize UltraNav. The functions (example: scroll) work correctly in some applications but not in Windows itself (example: Windows Explorer).
I am looking for a Windows 7 64 bit, driver for that keyboard.
