Latest Adobe Air 3.8 SDK breaks apps on Kindle Fire

The latest Adobe AIR 3.8 SDK seems to break apps on the Kindle Fire. On launch I see a black screen. When I touch the screen I see the UI for a split second, and then it does black again.
The same app works fine when compiled with the last release 3.7 SDK.
Pls investigate ASAP and let me know if you have trouble reproducing this in-house.
Thanks,
- Abey

I tried it with a sample application on kindle(v7.3.1_user_3140720) with latest AIR SDK 3.8(version- 3.8.0.930) and its working fine. Could you please check it once with the apk attached at https://www.dropbox.com/s/44nl38jqj2jh3ll/kindlefire.apk
I have download the latest version from http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/air.html.

I am trying to install the latest update on a piece of software i use on my mac but it cannot download because i don't have the latest Adobe Air 3
update and i cant download that because system requirements don't match
    Help ?

The current Adobe Air requires OS X 10.6 or better.
You need to buy the operating system upgrade to OS X 10.6,which requires 1GB of memory.  Call the online Apple store, which in the US is at 800-MY-APPLE, or order OS X 10.6 online at http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard . Install it, do Software Updates until no more are available, which will get you to OS X 10.6.8.  Then you can install the latest Adobe Air.

  • Flex mobile app for Kindle Fire?  is it possible?

Hi, I read this in the kindle amazon developer faq, is it possible to develop Flex 4.6 mobile apps for Kindle fire?  even thought it doesn't show up in the
    list of devices?
any Gotcha's I need to look out for?
Is Adobe AIR pre-installed on Kindle Fire?
Yes, developers can publish Adobe AIR 3 applications for the Kindle Fire by packaging them as ‘captive runtime’ applications. However, these captive runtime applications will not support on-device debugging.
    thanks,

Which Adobe Flash Player di I need for my Kindle Fire?

Please see our certified device list for details.  If you're dealing with the older version of the Kindle Fire, Flash Player should be supported.  It is not supported with the latest version of the Fire HD.

  • Adobe AIR runtime update dialog breaks application

I'm working on a large project that utilizes a C++ application to house the core logic and an AIR application to display a UI. The C++ program launches the AIR UI and passes it several command line parameters, including locale and port number to call back to the C++ application with.  Under normal circumstances, this works great.
However, when there's an Adobe AIR runtime update, things go bad.  The runtime intercepts the UI invocation, kills it, and displays the generic AIR "do you want to update?" dialog.  Whether the user presses update or cancel, the UI application eventually gets relaunched -- but without the command line parameters originally passed to it!  I presume this is a bug in the Adobe AIR runtime updater code.
The end result of this is that the UI gets relaunched, but doesn't know how to localize itself or what port to call back to the C++ application with!  If the user relaunches, it works fine (because the update dialog won't intercept again), but by then the user experience has already been mangled.  We can't even display a localized error message to tell them to relaunch because we don't know what locale they're using any more, and we can't call back to the C++ application to ask.
I'm trying to find solutions/workarounds to this issue.  Because AIR won't let us turn off the update check on a per-application basis, it seems like the only viable solution would be to turn off the runtime update check for the whole machine.  But altering machines settings for the benefit of one application is definitely bad form, and I'd prefer not to do that if any other viable workaround exist.
    Any ideas?

I filed a bug report last night using that same form.
The duplication steps are straightforward.  I can duplicate the following with 100% success on a freshly imaged Win 7 32-bit box, admin user account:
    1) Install older version of Adobe AIR framework (I tried both 1.1 and 1.5.1).  It will ask you to update.  Click "Update later".
    2) Pull up task manager and watch the process list
    3) Run ANY Adobe AIR app with some parameters (I used Adobe's Settings Manager as a sample because it's small)
    4) Note that your application appears in the task manager briefly
    5) Your app is terminated and "Adobe Air Installer.exe" appears in the task manager.  A dialog pops up asking you to update.
    6) Click cancel
    7) Your app is reinvoked without any parameters
As for my specific case, by "session" I do mean a single launch.
I'm not aware of an evoke event -- perhaps you meant invoke event?  The invoke event is not executing before the app terminates (in step 5 above).  I think the AIR app is just running long enough to load the runtime and then the runtime takes over from there.
    Thanks...

  • Can I import a view created in Adobe AIR into my Java Android App

Is it possible to create an Adobe AIR App that I can import into the Java App?
Essentially, at the moment I have an App with a Fragment that plays video through Flash. Since Flash is being deprecated on Android I need an alternative.
I was hoping that I could simply create a fragment in the AIR App and plug that straight into the Java App.
Unfortunately I know nothing about AIR. Hopefully someone could let me know if this is even possible.

I've not used Adobe Muse, so I can't speak to its functionality too much.  Theoretically you can import any site into CQ5, but it's not going to be a pleasant "click and go" kind of import.  CQ5 is a content management system that has a lot more complexity (and therefore flexibility) in what you can do, where it looks like Muse just creates static websites.  In terms of importing fonts/images/etc., CQ5 has the capability.  Anything you can do with HTML/CSS/JS, you can do with CQ5.
Is this a one time thing?  It seems like the workflow from Adobe Muse to CQ5 just wouldn't be worth the effort.  What are you envisioning as a solution?

  • Where is the Adobe AIR 3.2 SDK hiding?

    This is driving me loopy!
I'm trying to locate the download for AIR3.2 SDK but whenever I find a link to it I'm directed to
    Adobe AIR 3.1.0.4880 SDK
    Am I missing something here?
Could anyone shed some light on this for me please?
    Thanks,
    Mark

I was still unable to download the 3.2 sdk today using Safari on my Mac. Clicking on the download just locks up Safari completely and I have to eventually give up and close the browser window to be able use Safari again.
I eventually had to dust off my PC and use IE to download the file (which worked the first time I tried it without any problems and it appears to be 3.2).
I think the Adobe download site isn't working correctly with Safari (which I suspect a lot of AIR iOS developers are probably using).

  • Adobe AIR ELS meddling with mail.app ????

All of a sudden, mail.app has decided that, in order to send any email, it needs to have keychain access to something called PrivateEncryptedDatak, which resides in ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/AIR/ELS/com.apple.com<longStringOfNumbers>/
Any time I send mail, mail.app asks for the keychain password. Despite the fact that a keychain password is set up, I just need to hit "enter" and "allow" to let mail.app send the email.
Denying access results in the mail not being sent, and removing the Adobe AIR folder altogether results in a "you don't have a certificate installed" message....
The SMTP server has been set up to use password authentication....
The thing is: I did not install anything that should concern mail ....
And especially nothing that should concern @#$%^&* Adobe...
What is this AIR ELS thing and how do I get rid of it?????
    Thanks!

I've made a little headway with this. Within your initHandler just make a call to login:
    FacebookMobile.login(loginCallback, this.stage, [], webview);
webview is a StageWebView instance with the viewPort defined. If I left it null, or didn't set the viewPort nothing happens...
    var webview:StageWebView = new StageWebView();
    webview.viewPort = new Rectangle(0,0,400,400);
I'm now getting a login screen.

  • Install adobe air 3.2 sdk to flash cs5?

I am trying to install the air sdk to flash cs5, but all I can find are flash cs5.5 instructions. I attempted to follow the instructions on this blog: http://blog.michaeljbowen.com/?p=116
The option to publish shows up, but I get these errors when I attempt to go into settings or publish a file:
(for air 3.2)- Atline 1 of file "Apollo_OpenSettingDialog.jsfl":ReferenceError: Air2_5 is not defined
(air for android 3.2) - Atline 1 of file "Apollo_OpenSettingDialog.jsfl":ReferenceError: Air2_5_Android is not defined
(air for iOS 3.2)- Atline 1 of file "Apollo_OpenSettingDialog.jsfl":ReferenceError: Air2_5 is not defined
The only instructions I can find are for flash cs5.5... Can anyone help me get it working in flash CS5?

Try this but use AIR 3.2:

  • Adobe AIR apps break the media player!!

    Hi all,
I posted yesterday stating that I was having trouble with the iPad media player.
What was happening was that if I opened the WIRED app, I was able to view the video content as normal. If I then closed the app (via the home button) and re-opened it, the video content would no longer play (I could 'buffer' through it, but whenever I hit the play button nothing happens). What was more disturbing was that this seemed to affect other apps that have video also, i.e. if I open the WIRED app, play some video, hit the home button, then open the Guardian eye witness app, the video content in the Guardian no longer works.
If I uninstall the wired app, or restart the iPad this is not the case.
I'm starting to think this is something to do with Adobe AIR, and that when the apps are getting closed, they are not shutting down a media player component correctly.
Is this happening to anyone else?

    Hi Mukesh,
I installed the Flash CC 2014 update and added some Certificates from Apple to my Keychain. Now EVERYTHING works fine again!! :-)
Thank you very much for the Update! :-) Good job!
    Best regards

  • Adobe AIR SDK (3.4.0.2710) Captive Runtime Not Updated

    Hi,
I just downloaded the latest Adobe AIR SDK 3.4.0.2710. Looking at \runtimes\air-captive\win\Adobe AIR\Versions\1.0\Adobe AIR.dll it still says it is 3.4.2540. Will the captive runtime be updated to 3.4.2710?
    Thanks,
    John

Just retried the SDK download at http://www.adobe.com/devnet/air/air-sdk-download.html and it looks like the runtime has been updated to 3.4.2710. All good now.

  • Adobe Air 2.5 and AIR Debug Launcher (ADL) from AIR 1.5.3 SDK

I am having some issues with the differences between running my Air Desktop application with the ADL from within my IDE and actually running it as an packaged air application that is installed. Everything functions as it should in the IDE when run with ADL, but once it is packaged the drag and drop functionality no longer works correctly.
I was able to get this to work when Adobe Air 1.5 runtime was installed, instead of 2.5. I am aware that there were a lot of changes made with this last update, but I am unsure of how to proceed, as I am unable to debug the packaged air application to see what is actually happening.
One solution that I could see would be to install the Adobe Air 2.5 SDK and use that to debug with.
If anyone has any insight to why drag and drop works in the ADL and the runtime, your feedback would be much appreciated.
Also, I am using Flash Builder 4, with the Flex 3.5 SDK

    Hi,
We have same problem. On AIR 2.0.4 the drag&drop works correctly but with version 2.5.1 is problem. Do you found some solution for it?
    Thanx

  • Adobe air exe to ios app - the process?

    Hi,
I am new to app development. I am wanting to know what is possible and my cheapest option in creating an app for IOS from windows.
The app I am creating is a technical publication wanting to be displayed on anipad.
I have an adobe Air version exe published from robohelp/ framemaker. Is there a way to turn my adobe air application into a IOS App?
If not, what are my other options to get a tech pubs document as a IOS App? I would like to use ideally windows adobe products for the creation of it.
    Thanks

Ye that Merapi definitely seems interesting but it's the Java chops part that I think I'll fall down lol
I've also asked on a java forum if anyone with experience of using Flex in Conjunction with Java can create the function that I'm after but my topic has been ignored like the ugly girl at the prom.
I've never heard of a socket server. Would they be required to be installed on each machine that the interface is installed on?
I'll definitely look into it. Thanks a lot mate.
