Latest CC 2014 Acrobat Security update crashed my Macbook (2008, Lion 10.7.5).

A couple days ago, I was notified by CC that I had a security update for Acrobat. While installing, it crashed my computer. When I restarted, I no longer had the notification, my CC dashboard says its “up-to-date” and there is no record in my history that the program was updated. Has this happened to anyone else? Should I delete the current Acrobat app and reinstall?

Please follow the steps mentioned in CC desktop lists applications as "Up to Date" when not installed

  • 2014-002 security update wifi disconnecting

Ever since I installed the 2014-002 security update, every time my macbook display shuts off or I shut the lid, and I log back on, the wifi is disconnected and I have to tell it to connect to my router again. I can't find any settings that may have changed.

Might be corrupted network preferences ...
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
Click Go then move all the files in the SystemConfiguration folder to the Trash.
See if that makes a difference.
Your Mac will generate a new SystemConfiguration folder for you.

  • 2014-005 Security Update will not install

2014-005 Security Update will not install "encountered unexpected error" message at end of install routine

    Thanks for the quick response.
I had already done that when it didn't load install completely from the app store notice.  It goes all the way to the final part of the installation including moving things in place etc, but a the very last moment it says "Installation failure - An unexpected error has occurred. Contact your software vendor."
I've never had any kind of situation like this with any installs, updates, or anything.  Everything else is completely up to date.  Steve.

  • Security Update for SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 2 (KB2977320)

So i have been trying to install this update on one of our servers since it is showing up on our MBSA scans but it has been failing on one of our machines with the error code: 0x80070643
I downloaded the update and tired to install it manually. The installer returned: There are no SQL Server instances or shared features that can be updated on this computer. If that was true then why is SCCM still pushing the update to the machine and why
is the MBSA showing that it needs the update? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

    Hi David,
Based on my understanding, the error code: 0x80070643 was thrown out when you install KB2977320 with MBSA. And installation also failed when you download and install update manually.
Regarding the error code: 0x80070643, it can be caused if the MSI software update registration has become corrupted, or if the .NET Framework installation on the computer has become corrupted. To fix this issue, we can follow these methods:
Fix MSI software update registration corruption issues
    Repair the .Net Framework
Uninstall and reinstall the .Net Framework
For more information, please refer to this link:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976982.
Besides, the security update is released for SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 2, please check the version of SQL Server you are using. About how to check the SQL Server version, please refer to this article: How to tell what SQL Server version you are running
(http://www.mssqltips.com/sqlservertip/1140/how-to-tell-what-sql-server-version-you-are-running/). Then please download the Security Update for SQL
Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 2 from this link (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=43957), and retry install it manually.

  • Beware Latest 10.3.x security update - it replaces /etc/named.conf

The latest security update for 10.3.9 replaced "my" /etc/named.conf with a new one - fortunately the old one is saved in /etc/named.conf.applesaved
This caused me a huge nightmare as I had no idea what had happened to our network services. This was the last thing I expected.

Yes it did that for me too a few minutes ago, when I looked into the Server Admin window and only saw two records, one for localhost and reverse for localhost I figured it had to do something with named.conf, and of course it was the issue with that. We always keep backups of everything so I wasn't too much in a panic, and thanks to the saved backup by apple I was able to recover fast.
I still don't understand what exactly the developers of this security update where thinking with this, this is a HUGE bug with this update, have they not noticed and corrected this by now?

  • 2014 001 security update

Why is it taking an estimated 20 hours to complete the security update.  It has been stuck at 92 mb point for 5 hours.  Should I stop and restart the download or is this normal?  Is the server overloaded?
    Thank you who ever knows.

Yes. Restart your computer and try again.

  • Iphoto 9.4.3 does not open after security update. osx 10.7.5 Lion is running

Last used iphoto  a month ago to upload photos. Today attempted to upload daughter's gymnastic photos and iphoto 9.4.3 will not open. Stops at dialog that says it must be updated to open my library. But I run Lion not Maverick. The new iphoto only runs on Maverick. Only system change I can think of since end january is the security update I did a few days ago. I've checked the iphoto library and it seems intact with 43 gigs of photo etc stored over last 10 years.
MacApp says new update available 9.5, but it doesn't work with my Lion. I don't want to change anything right now.
    Computer is MacPro G5 2009.

    OK - good luck
Generally it is better to resolve problems and then upgrade since generally problems have nothing to do with the Application but are data problems which can be made more difficult to resolve by upgrading the software while the problem still exists

  • Acrobat Security Updates kill Distiller Watched Folders and Font Locations

We are finding that the usual security and other updates for
Acrobat Professional Version 7 and above are causing the Distiller
to lose specific custom settings in Watched Folders and Font
Locations. Does anyone else encounter these problems? If so, does
Adobe know about this? It's quite inconvenient, especially if you
have set up custom Distiller profiles for 50 plus machines.

    Hello JohnyBGud!
Thanks for your post, and for your feedback.
Your post is appreciated, but unfortunately not in the proper
place for the right people to listen!
I am not sure if the Acrobat team is aware of this, but would
suggest you place this post somewhere in the Acrobat forums, so
that the Acrobat team can view it.

  • New Lion Update Crashed my MacBook Pro

I posted a question earlier, then added information about the error message. This is a compliation of all of the error info.
Help! I ran software update and found there was one for my MacBook Pro. I went through the normal motions and got an error message saying that iPhoto download had a problem. The screen said to re-download which would probably fix the problem.  It didn't!  Now I get a black screen with funny writing, then a message in several languages to restart the computer. I've done this several times.  Help!!!!  Leaving on a busness trip tomorrow AM and need this laptop.
I had no problem downloading the update to my MacMini.
Additional info: the weird stuff on the black background starts with:
panic(cpu 0 caller 0xfffff800064ba7b) Unable to find driver for this platform:    and a bunch of other stuff...
    then ...

also, there was an earlier statement: debuggr called  <panic>
    At
Carolyn Samit's  advice I tried starting up in Safe Mode. It didn't work.
Help, I need the computer tomorrow AM for business!!
I apologize for the double post, but I'm desperate.

My Macbook pro is 23 days old as of today and today it crashed on me 7 times. It seems to happen when I have firefox and spotify running. I bought this computer for my business and still need to install Adobe CS6. Is this a faulty computer. Can someone help?

  • HT6207 Security update made my MacBook Air lose the dock. Help

Once this update occurred, I lost my background and my dock.  How can I get them back?  Version 10.9.2

I checked both of those items and neither worked.  Turn Hiding is not checked, but "position on bottom" is.  I've gone to Sys Pref/Desktop & Screen Saver and selected the desired background picture, but once I click it, the background does not change.  In fact, each "change" that I request, does not produce a change.  If I change my dock to "turn on hiding", and then go out, come back to menu/Dock, the Turn on Hiding is not checked.  I've rebooted, I've tried to reinstall the security patch, I've tried to reinstall the operating system and yet, it still doesn't show up a background, or my Dock.

  • Software update crashed my MacBook.

First of all, I'll go ahead and say I probably know why. I opened Software Update, and saw a Mac OS X update. I started the update, and about halfway through the update, my internet crashed. Soo, for reasons beyond my control, I had to shut off my computer. I wouldn't be able to get back for hours, and I didn't want to fry everything. I now know, I should have left it on. My macBook gets to the apple logo with the loading circle just spinning. I left it on and it went in circles for hours until the battery died? And it's obviously not booting enough for the OS X dics to work. Is there anything I can do?
    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

In order for the Disk to qork you need to hear the chime then hold down option c.
Note: To startup from the install disk you only need to hold down on the "c" key and not the "option" key. As long as the Mac chimes, you should still be able to startup from the install disk.

  • ITunes update crashed my MacBook - help!?

Hi everybody, I appreciate your help. Has anybody else run into this problem, or have an idea how to fix it?
This afternoon, I decided to update my ITunes. After going to Apple and downloading the updates no problem, I clicked the install button went off to do something else.
When I returned, my MacBook had this message (in several languages) on the display, keyboard is frozen:
"You need to restart your computer. Hold down the Power button for several seconds or press the Restart button."
BTW there is some programming script in the background.
I've tried restarting several times, also done a command/option/R/P reboot, but I keep getting this screen.
What does this mean? What can I do?

    Saralou,
After some searching I tried this and I have got a little along the road.
At boot hold down the 'Option' button. Hopefully you will get two icons on screen one to restore from the
MacBook Time Machine backup. I hope you have made one!
It will take some hours to restore so I am waiting to see if that works out ok for me. It should do.

  • After any security update (EFI), my macbook reboot constantly and start OS without installing the Update. i dont know what i have to do

Hello people. i need some help. i bought my macbook pro the last april 2012. i tried to update everytime i can, but always i have problems: the installer start normally, but the problems start when my system tell me i have to reboot. i press "reboot" and after that my mac reboot 3, 4 o 5 times, and the grey bar doesn't change or move or anything and OS after the 5 times of reboot, start normally, but without installing the update.
sorry for my english. its not my native language.
    greetings.

ok....try this.....this is the long version.........
open disk utility and verify and repair your disk permissions......once the errors are repaired, shutdown your macbook and do a PRAM reset....
once you're up and running, turn bluetooth off and make sure your macbook is plugged in your AC outlet...
    try updating your efi again.....
not quite sure what those sounds you're hearing are...
