** Latest Details ** ADDT & CS3 & Interakt

Hi...
so what is your take (now) versus last year (or at the beginning).
How is Adobe support of ADDT?
Does ADDT work good? Too buggy? Its fine... just like software?
I have MX suite and want better support and software than old MX Collection and old DW 8.
If I upgrade, buy ADDT... will I get what I want?
or will I just get a lot of problems?
THANKS for you help and advice!

>>
Once files are opened and altered in CS3/ADDT, can I then open the same files with DW8/Kollection on my DW8/Kollection machine?
>>
you wouldn´t experience problems with ADDT´s functions and the generated code as such, because the ADDT/Kollection 3.7.1 libraries stored in the "includes" folder are technically identical and haven´t been changed -- but you will certainly not be able to edit stuff that´s been built with other "CS3 only" extensions incl. the Spry widgets.
Beyond the "ADDT vs. Kollection 3.7.1 compatibility" issue I can´t comment on possible compatibility issues between using different DW versions, that is, you´ll have to try that at your own risk.

  • ADDT CS3 / Kollection CS2

I have Dreamweaver 8 and the latest version of Kollection installed on one machine.
I have Dreamweaver CS3 with ADDT installed on a second machine.
I have a website originally built using Dreamweaver 8 and Kollection.
Can I open and edit the site on both computers even they are running different versions of Dreamweaver and Kollection/ADDT. Or will there be a compatibility issue going back/forth between the two setups.
NOTE: I know upgrading both machines to CS3/ADDT at the same time would be easiest, but it is not an option for me due to machines owned by different companies with different software policies.
    Thanks.

  • InDesign CS3 crashing in Mac 10.6.8

As suggested by John Hawkinson in the InDesign CS3 crashes when printing in OSX Lion thread I've started a new discussion for this.
I'm running Snow Leopard - 10.6.8. I would like to upgrade to Lion but until I can confirm CS3 is all working I'd rather not. I bought CS3 initally when I was in a much better financial situation and currently I just can't afford the upgrade to CS5. So I need to make this work the best I can for the time being but since the last OS update I'm getting lots of problems.
The first problem is placing an image. I go to file, click place and as I'm navigating to an image and the application just closes. I get a "Problem Report for InDesign" dialog and the message "Indesign quit unexpectedly"
    http://pastebin.com/sGnLp21B
The second problem is exporting to pdf. I click export, choose PDF and regardless of whatever settings I choose when I click export I get this crash report:
    http://pastebin.com/vwBDfBaF
The file I'm working on was created prior to upgrading to 10.6.8 and allowed me to place images and export just fine. I wondered it if was a corrupted file but I have since started new ones with exactly the same results.
When I initally googled this problem I found someone with a similar kind of error and they suggested creating a new account worked for them and they were able to run CS3 as before. I tried that and it did indeed work. So I can run a copy of CS3 (not updated, installed as it was straight out of the box) fine on a second account but this one seems to crash on even the most minor of jobs.
I initally had some problems installing CS3 on my macbook pro (prior to this machine I'd had a mac pro running tiger without issue). I found the Adobe Updater would cause Illustrator to crash when opening after the updates had all been applied. I fixed this problem by doing a fresh install and updating each application manually by downloading the updates from the support site. Until now I had not had anymore issues.
If more information is needed please just let me know, I've not posted here before so it's quite possible I missed something.

    Hi.
The first thing to notice is that you're not running the current version of CS3:
    Version:         5.0.0.458 (5000)
The latest update to CS3 is 5.0.4, which I believe has fixes for a bunch of similar problems: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4029
. You should definitely install the update before we look too-too closely at the crashes.
Are you using Version Cue? The first crash report appears to be related to it.
The second one...I forgot how CS3 sometimes doesn't include symbol information in the crash report. It's a bit of a pain to figure it out, so I'll defer until we see if the update doesn't solve your problem. Though the Apple version of the crash report may have more information, if you get that or have access to it (it should be visible in Console.app in ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter.
So I can run a copy of CS3 (not updated, installed as it was straight out of the box) fine on a second account but this one seems to crash on even the most minor of jobs.

I'm not quite sure I follow -- it sounds like you're aware there are updates, but you mention updating as it if is per-account. But it's not. When you update InDesign (or anything Adobe) on one account, the updates get applied across-the-board to the whole system.
What is different between user accounts is InDesign preferences, so if they have gotten corrupt, you can have problems. (There are other differences, too, of course...).
You should update InDesign to 5.0.4 and then trash your InDesign preferences (see the link in the Troubleshooting 101 box on the main forum page), and see if that helps.

  • PhotoShop CS3

    Hello,
Out of country, using my MacBook Pro, i forgot to install DPP from Canon to view my images taken with EOS 5D Mark II.
Because Canon is giving UPGRADES, i wonder where to find downlodable original DPP ?
Trying to open RAW images using PhotoShop CS3 installed on my MBP, the system refuse to open the images !
But, when i try images taken with EOS 5D Mark I, it works.
So, PhotoShop can open images taken with 5D but not images taken with 5D Mark II.
I downloaded latest upgrades from CS3, but no way.
    Any comment please ?
    Reagrds,
    Jean

Adobe Camera Raw is maintained for a certain amount of time after release of a new version, to add updates.
After a certain time, Adobe stops adding new camera support to older versions of the Camera Raw plug-in.  They do this to incentivize you to buy new Adobe software.
Your Camera Raw is version 4 (which goes with CS3).  The latest is, I believe, 4.6, which can be found here:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4037 (Mac)
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4038 (Windows)
I have heard a rumor of Camera Raw 4.7, but I don't know anything more about it.  Frankly, given that 4.6 was released in 2008, I doubt there will be a 4.7.
It does not appear that Camera Raw 4 supports your 5D Mark II.
One possibility:  There is a program called a DNG Converter.  I believe you could convert your 5D Mark II files to .dng format with the latest software, then open them with the Camera Raw version that you have.

  • Photoshop CS3 freezes on edit preferences performance

I know this is the Lightroom forum, but I could not get any help on the photoshop windows forum, and there are a ton of experts willing to help here, so I hope you will bear with me - thanks!
I have been having performance problems with photoshop CS3, where all types of activities become slower and slower. I tried to open the edit > preferences > performance dialog and this causes photoshop to immediately freeze without showing the performance dialog and photoshop eventually becomes "not responding" every time.
Is this a known issue? I have not been able to find any reference in my searches. I have updated the latest patch to CS3.
    Here is my system info:
    Adobe Photoshop Version: 10.0.1
    Computer: DellXPS710
Video: Nvidia GeForce 8600 GTS and Nvidia GeForce 7900GS
    Operating System: (Vista home premium)
System architecture: Intel CPU Family:6, Model:15, Stepping:7 with MMX, SSE Integer, SSE FP, SSE2
    Physical processor count: 4
    Processor speed: 2394 MHz
    Built-in memory: 2813 MB
    Free memory: 1515 MB
Memory available to Photoshop: 1659 MB
Memory used by Photoshop: 55 %
    Image cache levels: 6
    Application folder: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\
    Temporary file path: C:\Users\Rory\AppData\Local\Temp\
Photoshop scratch has async I/O enabled
    Scratch volume(s):
    K:\, 465.8G, 452.8G free
What I have tried so far:
    - Uninstall, run CS3clean script at level 1, reinstall CS3
    - Reset the preferences by deleting the preference file as per adobe documentation
    - I have only one printer installed, no network printers
    - Turn McAffee off (I think - it seems complicated to turn off)
    - Confirmed I have the latest nVidia drivers
    - Turned file indexing off on the scratch drive
    - In msconfig, I have turned off all startup items and system services, to no avail.
    - Run in safe start mode - THIS WORKED. As you can see in the specs I moved the scratch drive while in safe start mode, but this did not help.
Therefore I appear to have a conflict somewhere. All my other software, including Lightroom and Bridge are working fine.
I am going to test my memory next but it is unlikely to be the culprit since the safe start worked. Apparently Microsoft is releasing the Vista SP1 tomorrow, so I will update Vista.
Also, I would like to see if the nvidia drivers are causing the problem, but I do not know how to turn them off and use a generic video driver. If anyone can help of this please advise.
If anyone has any other suggestions I would be most grateful.
    Rory

    >Also, I would like to see if the nvidia drivers are causing the problem, but I do not know how to turn them off and use a generic video driver. If anyone can help of this please advise.
I am not sure that the actual Nvidia drivers cause problems; however, nview desktop manager was known to cause problems, but it only exists on Xp. If you really want to remove the drivers on Vista, then goto Control Panel -> System And Maintenance. In left panel pick Device Manager and in the devices screen expand Display Adapters. Right-click on the display adapter name and pick Uninstall. You will then need to re-boot.
Adobe also has an article on Optimising Photoshop on XP and Vista. In case you haven't seen it here is the reference:

  • Problem with Adobe Updater - WebPremium CS3

Hello. Is anyone having trouble installing Adobe's latest updates to CS3 on Leopard (Macbook Pro)? It seems to hang on the Flash update. The update caused chaos on my Macbook Pro, constantly writing crash logs as soon as I quit a process another started up. I resorted to a clean install (my 3rd since Leopard) and exactly the same thing happens when Adobe Update Manager kicks in and gets stuck on Flash 9.0.2 update even when running as root. I reproduced the same results on my G5 too so at this point I can only assume the problem rests with Adobe. Anyone else?

Aha, it seems to be Adobe's problem, the latest updates hangs on Flash

  • Photoshop CS3 crashing when opening or saving files

I wonder if anybody here know why this problem won't disappear even after reinstalling my Photoshop CS3? Whenever I try to open a file (any image format) or save by using Cmd+O, Cmd+S or the File menu in Photoshop, Photoshop is crashing. Brutal crash, goes down. This means I can't save anything I create. Exporting via "export to web" is working, but I can't save (or save as) PS documents.
I have deleted all prefs files etc, and reinstalled Photoshop CS3, but that did nothing.

Hi. To read about application crashes, you can look at http://www.tekserve.com/service/mac-faq/crashes-freezes/application-unexpectedly -quit.php and follow the suggestions in http://www.tekserve.com/service/mac-faq/crashes-freezes/application-troubleshoot ing.php. In particular, I would check for updates to your Photoshop application. The disk installed version of Photoshop CS3 had various problems with Leopard. As I remember, one of the problems was crashing when using the Open and Save dialog boxes. If for some reason you can't update to the latest version of CS3, or you're already at the latest version, you could try going into the Photoshop preferences and seeing if there is a toggle for Adobe dialog boxes vs Apple dialog boxes. I recall CS3 having such a setting but I can't find it in CS4 right now. I also recall having a similar problem with CS3 and Leopard until I ticked that checkbox one way or the other. Good luck!

  • Links Problem in Dreamweaver CS3 !

I recently reinstalled my Dreamweaver CS3. Now everytime i save a file, it saves the whole directory path with the file name. So when i opened my index page and saved it with some changes, all my css tables have been lost. and all the links in the file are relative to my system directory.
    BEFORE, it was index.html
AFTER SAVE, it is "C:\Documents and Settings\Idiot User\index.html"
this has happened to EACH link that i used in my page, so even the css stylesheet is not working.
the entire website appears perfectly in Dreamweaver, but when i upload the files to my webspace, the links link to "file:///C|/Documents%20and%20Settings/Delvin/My%20Documents/CBPC%20Website/sermons.html" , for example.
also when i change the links, image locations to the File-only, and remove the directory bit, the images disappear in dreamweaver.
Everything was working perfectly, until i re-installed the program. Can anyone suggest a way in which every file and every link is synced; so it is what it says it is WYSIWYG !

i do NOT think that it is a helpful answer .
You may not think so, but it sounds like a very plausible explanation and a mighty good place to start looking.
In your site definition settings, are your links relative to Document or Site Root?
Which operating system are you using?
Did you get all the latest updates for CS3 since re-installing?

  • Premiere Pro CS3 having trouble with 24" monitors

Can anyone tell me anything about using a 1920 X 1200 resolution with CS3 products?  I try to open PPro CS3 on my new 24" monitor and it crashes.  I have a 768Mb Nvidia Graphics card and the latest drivers installed.  I've tried resetting the resolution to 1600 Xx 1200, 1024 X 768, etc... all of them.  Crashes every time.

    Just me today I guess.
The solution to this problem is simple.  Download and install the latest Adobe PPro CS3 3.2.0 patch.  50 Mb download, 20 second install time.  Everything works great now!

  • Canon 5D MrkII  &  Photoshop CS3

I cannot believe that Adobe has abandoned users of CS3 and new Canon cameras!!
I just found out that to convert RAW files from the Canon 5d MrkII, we need Camera Raw 5 or later.    Camera Raw 5 or later WILL NOT work with CS3!!
So if you purchase a Canon 5d MrkII and plan to keep using CS3, it will NOT WORK.   You will need to purchase Lightroom 2 or Photoshop CS4 or some other raw converting software.
I guess this is one way to SHOVE UPGRADES down users throats.

There are more users still using CS3 than CS4.  If Adobe is going to continue to "support" CS3 for the millions of users, how hard can it be to allow the plug-in (i.e., camera raw update) to support those loyal users that have spent millions (i.e. hundreds of millions) of dollars.
By the way, camera raw 5 is NOT compatible with CS3.  The latest verson for CS3, 4.6, will not work with new cameras.  Plus, you said that camera raw 5 was worth the upgrade, I have never paid for camera raw upgrades.
BUT I CAN TELL YOU THIS....GIVE ME A CAMERA UPDATE THAT  WILL WORK WITH CS3 AND NEW CAMERAS AND I WILL PAY THE MONEY!!!
The problem is not the price of the "camera raw" upgrade, it is the price of the upgrade to a defective product:  CS4....
Adobe has adopted a plan of allowing it customers to be its "quality control" much like Microsoft.  Let the users spend the money to upgrade to defective products, find the bugs, report the bugs.   Apparently, there are lots of problems with CS4.   My decision to NOT upgrade to CS4 for 6 to 8 months or more is a business decision.  When a product does not work, it is not just the money spent on the upgrade, it is the hours of waiting on support calls (ie., today I was told that my wait for Adobe support would be in excess of 30 minutes);  it is the lost hours of work that fails due to a software hangup. I need to use a product that works;  if I wanted to be a beta tester I would have applied for the position.
I am not in the habit of paying hard earned money for a product that everyone knows has tons of problems.

  • Opening PSD from Bridge CS3

I am using XP OS and CS3 - last week I started having problems opening PSD files from Bridge into PS..the arrow doesn't even blink - it's like it doesn't even realize the file is there....anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks

Just a thought: can you check the following places for Camera Raw.8bi ...
    Program Files/Common Files/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS3/File Formats
    Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS3/Plug-Ins/File Format
There should be only one copy in the first folder, and none in the second, nor anywhere else in the CS3 Plug-Ins trees.
Also, if possible, it might be worth updating to the latest ACR for CS3, which I think is 4.6.
Also, you should check RW2 is listed in Bridge preferences, under the file associations tab. It should be associated with Photoshop CS3.

  • CS3, camera raw 4.4 & vista: CR2 files

When I try to open CR2 files from Canon 40D I am getting "cannot complete your request because it is not the right kind of document." I use windows vista. I have downloaded the latest updates to CS3 and camera raw. I had this problem with CS2, read the forums, downloaded a trial version of CS3, updated everything and it worked fine. So I went ahead and purchased CS3. only to find that I can no longer access my CR2 files. Any suggestions. please?
    thanks.

    Shane,
The Camera Raw plug-in is updated approximately 4 times each year, and has been updated a number of times since CS3 was released. The latest officially released version is available here:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/cameraraw.html
Additionally, there is a beta version of Camera Raw 4.6 available here:
    http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php?title=Camera_Raw_4.6
Both of these versions support your camera. The latest release, which is in beta, works well. I think it is primarily in beta form so that Adobe can get feedback on the newly supported cameras. I have not found any problems with it.
On either one of those referenced webpages there are complete instructions on how to install the new plug-in. It would be senseless to repeat those instructions here. Just be advised that you need to follow those instructions precisely and REPLACE the existing plug-in in order for it to work properly. Do not rename the old version, do not put it in a subfolder, or camera raw will cease to function.
Also, when Camera Raw 4.6 is finally released, that will probably be the last version of Camera Raw that will work with CS3. Photoshop CS4 has been announced, and will probably begin shipping within the next few weeks. The Camera Raw plug-in for the new version of Photoshop will not be compatible with Photoshop CS3.

ACR 5 will NOT work with CS3, only with CS4.
    For CS3
and your camera you need ACR 4.6, a nominally beta Release Candidate downloadable from Adobe Labs.

  • Mac CS3 Annoyances

I am hoping someone has the answer to my problems. Using an Imac latest version of CS3 photoshop and latest version Os 10.5.
    1. When printing a whole series of photos I have to reselect photoshop manages colors every time and then choose my profile etc. My epson printer remembers the settings. Any way CS3 can preset my preferences for printing?
    2. I have an action that sets up my photo photos for editing, one of the steps is to turn on soft proof - but when I restart CS3, that step is missing from the action. Any way to make it sticky?
    3. If i click outside of the photo or palettes, menu bar, CS3 disappears. I would like the menus and palettes to remain as is. Any ideas?
Any and all advice appreciated. Thank you

    Edit:
Ooooppss... didn't see posts similar to mine had been posted already, sorry. You may ignore the below text. :)
    >3) I am using Firefox right now and clicking on the desk top does not have the effect of hiding firefox.
If you have an image open in Photoshop (with Photoshop in front) and click on the desktop, does the image also get hidden, or just the palettes?
    I guess just the palettes.
I hear there will be an option in Photoshop CS4 to have "a background" between the desktop and Photoshop, thus clicking on this would make you remain in Photoshop. Old style Windows program behavior... Sounds good it's just an option. :)
