Latest Episode of Podcast Won't Post

Hello,
I have produced 4 podcast episodes.  The show is in Itunes and is called The Love and Respect Podcast.  The first four episodes went straight into Itunes.
I released Episode 005 today through my website loveandrespectpodcast.com.  The shows are hosted on Libsyn.
Today, the episode plays on my website and it was fed to and works on Stitcher.  However, it has been nine hours now and the episode will not show up in Itunes. The episode was announced on social media but my downloads are down considerably as I do not believe people can access at all on Itunes. I believe the below info is the correct information being provided to Itunes.  I have changed nothing on my website or Libsyn but Itunes isn't pulling the episode.  Thanks in advance. Someone suggested because I had Christianity selected as category I needed to change to Religion and Spirituality, the broader category.  But that doesn't make sense to me if the first four episodes worked.  Jonathan

Thanks for the reply, it makes sense but I also received this response from someone else.  Does this make sense to you?
Hi Jonathan,
I do think something might be wrong with your feed. Its registering as a webpage and not a feed. iTunes may be “tolerating” it in the sense that its delivering the episode as it should be, but it may not display it until the feed registers as a feed and not a webpage.
http://help.squarespace.com/guides/podcasting-with-squarespace
You can check to make sure that you have the RSS iTunes items enabled, but it feels like RSS itself needs to be enabled somewhere.
Your feed URL should be:
http://www.loveandrespectpodcast.com/podcast?format=rss
When checked in the W3C’s feed validator it fails:
http://validator.w3.org (go here, paste in the feed URL, click Check).
The validator is reporting it as a webpage, not a feed. That might explain why iTunes isn’t updating with it.
Hopefully Squarespace support can help get that sorted out with the info above!

  • Certain episodes of podcasts won't sync while others sync perfectly fine

Recently I have run into a problem where certain episodes of podcasts dont sync while others sync perfectly fine. How can I fix this? The last time one of my video podcasts updated was October 31s, there are about 5 episodes a day. It is the same with several of my podcasts. I have it set to sync all. They are mostly video podcasts, all of my videos are set to sync and I only listen to podcasts from the iTunes store. The episode do not exist anywhere on my iPod, I have looked. The only error message I get is the standard Windows 7 Format Error. I have asked this question before, but someone clicked correct answer so no one who could help is looking at it since they think it is solved.

How do your have your iPod configured to sync podcasts from under your iPod's Podcast configuration tab in iTunes?  If you are unsure of how to locate this tab, click on your iPod from under the list of device in the left hand pane of iTunes.  This should bring you to the Summary tab.  Now locate the Podcast tab along the top.

  • Latest episode of Podcast still not appearing in iTunes, after a 10 day wait

    Hi folks,
So far four episodes from my feedburner feed have sucessfuly been published to itunes.
But the fifth episode, published on the 24th of August has not appeared in iTunes.
    The feed is this:-
    http://3dartdirect.com/feed/podcast/
The Feed validator service (feedvalidator.org) seemed to think it was a valid feed.
As an idea, should I delete the Wordpress post and re-create it, perhaps forcing iTunes to notice the refreshed feed?
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance,
    Paul Bussey

I think the problem lies in me using a Wordpress plugin called "Bulletproof Security". A similar problem was experienced by this user who also uses the blurbrry plugin:-
    http://forum.blubrry.com/index.php?topic=3688.0
The support at my hosting company also received the 403 error and recognises that iTunes may have an issue with this security plugin.
This thead may be of help to other Wordpress users who have this plugin and are experiencing similar problems.
I've asked Apple to alter the podcast feed to a feedburner address instead (since I don't have any subscribers just yet). I figure that since the feedburner feed lies outside of my selfhosted Wordpress site, there shouldn't be any security issues.
Hopefully Apple will respond a second time!
    Thanks again Roger.

  • Download latest episode of podcast freezes

When using my  iPhone to download new podcasts wirelessly the download often freezes.  This is more likely to happen on some podcasts more than others (i.e. Fresh Air with Terry Gross is very poor).  Any hint would be welcome.  My iPhone4 is brand new.

I found the answer thanks to Rob @ podcast411.com!! I ran my rss feed through feed validator, and found that I was using a category that iTunes no longer used. I didn't think this would've mattered, but I went into my rss.xml file and updated the category from Sports to Sports and Recreation, and a few minutes later all was well in the ITMS. The trick was finding the rss.xml file. Here's what I did:
    Mount iDisk
    open web folder
    open rss folder
    open iWeb folder
open kangaroopodcast folder (this one will be named what you named your website in GarageBand)
    open podcast folder
ctrl-click rss.xml file and choose to open with Text Edit (this is where I had my trouble because at first I didn't open it with a different program than the default one and it was some goffy game-I guess apple was trying to mask it so you don't mess up your rss feed)
next make appropriate changes (here you can use the info from the podcast tech specs page to know how to use the proper "language" to make the category change.
Anyway, I know this was long, but I hope that it helps someone else because I spent a while trying to figure it out!

  • My podcasts are not showing the latest episodes in the iTunes store

    Hi All,
The latest episodes of two of my podcast feeds have not yet updated in the iTunes store; both feeds had episodes posted Friday, May 10th but the new episodes are not yet appearing in the store directory.
Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening? I've noticed a couple others have recently posted similar problems and I suspect this is an issue on Apple's end as the episodes are available to subscribers and the feeds seem to validate. Can anyone confirm?

    Thanks,

When you add a new episode to your feed and upload it, it appears immediately for subscribers because their iTunes application reads the feed directly and the Store is not involved.
However because of the huge number of podcasts in the Store (thousands) the Store caches the feed and checks it for updates periodically. For this reason it usually takes 1-2 days for new episodes to appear in the Store: sometimes it can be less, and occasionally the whole process seems to get stuck and it can take several days.
Your feeds are up to date when subscribing, so it's just a matter of waiting for the Store to catch up.

  • The latest episode of my podcast will not play or download. Everything is clear through the host. What can I do?

    Hello!
I recently created a new podcast and for some reason my latest episode(episode 4) appears in iTunes but will not play or download. The other 3 episodes still work fine and episode 4 seems to be working properly on the host libsyn page and on the website I am posting new episodes on. iTunes is the only thing it does not seem to be playing through. I do run my podcast through a feedburner account before it hits iTunes, but so far have not had any issues. Has anyone had a similar issue?

Feedburner is a pain and causes issues especially with the Podcasts App - plus its future is far from secure.  Google has shut down other services in the past with little warning.
Since you are hosting on libsyn - the best thing you could do is switch over to your libsyn feed.
    http://insidethestrain.libsyn.com/rss
Here is a tutorial on how to redirect from feedburner to your libsyn feed.
    http://lilith.libsyn.com/feedburner-redirect-tutorial
And make sure you turn off any redirects on the libsyn side - you don't want it redirecting back out to the feedburner feed which it appears to be doing.
You want to manage your feed just in your libsyn account.

  • I'm a podcaster and my latest episode doesn't show up in the iTunes store

I have The ****** Off World of Uncle Hal Radio Show and I have had a great time with it. Every week I upload my show and then ping iTunes. My latest episode will show up in the store pretty quick. I have subscribed to my own podcast (http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=173914731) and can download the latest episode but in the iTunes store my latest show (Episode 29) does not show up. My latest episode shows up on all directories on line and in my subscription in iTunes but not on the store! Anyone know what's going on? There should be 29 shows...not 28.
    Thanks,
    Hal

    I'm having the same problem.

  • Podcasts Won't Load - I've Registered 15 Times - My iPod is Insane - Help!

I got a nano for Christmas and it's beautiful and I love it...but it appears to be every bit as insane as the shuffle it replaced and I need some help.
Whenever I plug it in it makes me register. I've registered many many times now.
I managed to load three episodes of several different podcasts (Democracy Now!, e.g.) and now that's all I get. Any attempts to sync or (in the manual mode) drag and drop new episodes are completely useless. How do I get new episodes of podcasts onto my nano?
I also have a problem where I've dragged over some video podcasts of Democracy Now! After the "drag" I got a message saying that my nano was syncing and that I shouldn't disconnect and then I watched for several seconds as the progress bar tracked the loading of the video. When I later disconnected and went looking for the videos, they don't appear anywhere. They're not under podcasts, music, movies, videos, etc. I've looked through every menu option. They're completely missing in action. When I tried to drag them onto the iPod again they simply won't load. It does nothing. I drag, drop, and that's it...done...no syncing, no anything.
Is my nano broken, or is one of us insane (I'm pretty sure it's the nano, but...)
Thanks in advance to anyone clever and patient enough to help me out.

I am in a similar boat and can't seem to find an answer searching through discussions. About 3 months ago one of my podcasts NPR: This American Life started acting all strange on my iPod. I had it all set correctly and worked fine for nearly a year. Then the podcast episodes wouldn't automatically load onto my video iPod. They are not in my Podcast section on the iPod. On iTunes it works fine - no problems. When I try to transfer the podcasts over manually in their NPR: TML folder it shows it transferring but when I disconnect they are not there. If anyone knows or has an idea please post. I have made a Playlist for this podcast but episodes mysteriously disappear after a week or so with no consistency. Weird! Thanks.

  • Podcast won't import from Garageband

    Hi all
Help appreciated with this. I do a two hour music podcast (www.whatyouwantradio.com also available at http://soundcloud.com/whatyouwant-radio) which is created in Garageband and then exported to iWeb for uploading to my website. I've been running this, with few problems, since April 2009.
Recently the garageband podcast won't export to iWeb. It's random, and I seem to have been able to bypass it by changing the filename slightly, or adjusting the quality at which it is exported (I like to export at 320mps for best quality - big files but no complaints from the 100 or so listeners. Could be more - who knows as I can't get stats from iTunes. But I digress). However, the most recent podcast, which is already available on Soundcloud, just won't export. It goes through the motions (mixdown etc.) but nothing appears on iWeb on the other side. No error message, nothing. I know that memory has also been an issue in the past but right now there is plenty to spare (4.04GB at last glance). However, I am noticing that the memory is going down everytime I try an export, so I am figuring the .band file is going somewhere i.e. taking up space
I'd really be grateful for some help on this, I'm at a bit of a loss - no error message, no clue. I've also posted this on the Garageband forum. As I say, this podcast has been going for nearly three years and it's only recently I've had this problem.
    Cheers,
    Stuart

Can you export as MP3 or AAC and drag it from Home Folder/Music/Garageband into iWeb?
Better still, upload the file to your server and use a fallback player so that those that don't have the QuickTime plugin can hear it.

  • No Episodes in podcast subscription

I am trying to subscribe to 2 podcast, that's what people play and get physical radio, and although in the itunes store there plenty of episodes to when I subscribe no episodes are showing up in my itunes podcast section.  Is there a problem with the podcast?  I have no issues with any other podcast except these two.

I've only tried the "That's What people Play" and as you say, when you subscribe, nothing happens.
Usually, when you subscribe to a Podcast, the latest episode will begin downloading automatically and clicking "Update Podcast" should produce a list in the iTunes Podcast Library of the available episodes. But not in this one.
Anyway, if you go back to the Store's list of the Podcast and click on the Free button for any episode, that episode will begin downloading. For now of course, I have to assume that future episodes will download as they should - automatically. Try it for both programmes.
If the future episodes download correctly, then you may find it easier to simply go with it as it is. But if you feel like pursuing it, then I suggest you contact the Podcast's producers, as they will be the ones to either sort it out for themsleves, or for them to deal with the iTunes Store if required.

  • Audio issues in latest episode

I have a season pass for My Little Ponies: Friendship is Magic, and up until now all of the episodes have been of a good quality, with no issues to report. The latest episode uploaded to the iTunes store, however, "A Dog and Pony Show," is of considerably worse audio quality. The characters' voices do not even come through, only the background music. This has not been the case for any episode up until this point.
This *issue appears to stem from the source download*, not just an issue with my specific file possibly being corrupt, as previewing the video in the iTunes store shows the same issue - characters are moving their mouths, but only the background music is heard. I can watch previous episodes right now, on the same computer, and everything plays correctly. Only this specific episode is broken, not my system audio.
I'm really not sure where to report this, or what can even be done about it, but I did not pay for a season pass to this show only to see such a horrible quality episode get uploaded. Given that I realize I may not posting in the correct area, any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated, even if only re-directing me to the proper channels.

I can also confirm this. I reported the problem with iTunes, but had to jump through too many hoops to do it. Reporting problems should be easier than this.
Even the 30-sec preview contains no vocal track. Episode 19. My kids were devastated.
    http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewTVSeason?id=416156331&s=14 3441
They'll have to delete that episode and issue it again, which means all of us Season Pass people should get another email when the replacement is up. People who bought it as a stand-along ep will likely get credited the money back to buy it again.

  • My podcast won't play on my ipod despite it working on my laptop

my podcast won't play on my ipod despite it working on my laptop. i have tried converting them using the advanced tab but that option is greyed out. its very frustrating! can anyone help?

So you are able to sync these podcasts over to your iPod Classic?  Would you be able to post a screenshot of one of these podcast's Summary tab of its Get Info window in iTunes?  Be sure to blank out the Apple ID fields and any personal informaiton shown on this tab.

  • Sync arbitrary number of episodes of podcasts (not 1, 3, 5, 10 or all)

Hi - I'd like to synchronize a user-defined number of episodes of podcasts with my iPod and not be restricted to 1, 3, 5 10 or all (whatever is the sync logic). This is strange that this is not just a parameter for users to decide. Did I miss something ?
    Thanks

Thanks but that does not solve my problem. I have 20 different podcasts feeds and each of them produces one episode a day (or every couple of days) and I want to have all the time the latest 30 (e.g.) episodes of all podcasts by just plugging my iPod and letting it getting sync'd. What you suggest would require manual selection every day and this is what I'm trying to avoid

  • No episodes in Podcasts app after switching to libsyn

    Hi,
I just switched over to Libsyn a few days ago and transferred all my episodes over there. Since I use Feedburner, I plugged my Libsyn feed into Feedburner.
But now, undownloaded episodes aren't showing up in the Apple iOS Podcasts app. To see what would happen, I deleted my podcast from the app and resubscribed, and zero episodes show up.
My podcast is The Walking Dead 'Cast.
    Feedburner feed = feeds.feedburner.com/WalkingDeadcast
    Libsyn feed = deadcast.libsyn.com/rss
Any idea what's happening and what I can do about it?
    Thanks,
    Jason

    Hi Jason,
I looked in the Podcasts App from Apple and subscribed to your show and the episodes showed up and I was able to play the most recent episode.
However there are a couple of possible issues I see.
One you are using Feedbuner to track stats on the downloads - that means in your feedburner feed it is not the Libsyn URL for the file - but the Feedburner one - with libsyn there is no reason to do that - as you are already getting detailed stats - so I would turn off those stats with feedburner.
    Second possible issue if you latest episode title - 88: F#(@ity F#$% F@#^ F#@#!!!
RSS Aggregators are known to break when you put in special characters - so this might be your issue here.
Again the show did subscribe fine for me and play both on the computer and the Podcasts app.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

Since last i tunes update (3/14)  podcasts won't update

What happens when you try to install the iTunes update? Error messages?
You might have better luck posting in the iTunes forum sinc you have an iTunes problem, not an iPod problem.
