Latest Flash and Facebook

I had been away for a couple of months so when I got home and was going to put some pictures up on Facebook.  I went to my photos area and created a new album and it did open the dialogue box for uploading multiple photos but it also said that in order to proceed I had to update to the latest version of Flash.  I did and when I went back to Facebook and click on create album it sends me off to a open file window sitting in my documents.  I now realize this is the same problem on my laptop but with that I wasn't sure what the issue was.  The only change to this desktop in the last several months has been the updating of this flash file.  Is flash and facebook not getting along under the latest release.

Maybe I didn't explain myself well enough.  I'm sitting in the photos area of Facebook where I can see photos and albums that I have created previously on this computer.  I click on Create Album and it immediately directs me to the window as per the attached screen capture.  If you try and put in a name of an album to create you get the second window saying it couldn't find the file.  The only thing that I did on this computer was update Flash.  This is occuring on all of my computers now so I am not able to upload to facebook at all but I was able to upload to my google+.
I hope that this explains it better so that someone could help me find a solution.  The browser that I am using is Firefox 21.0. The file that I downloaded when I was alerted that I had to update Flash is install_flashplayer11x32_gdrd_aaa_aih.exe.  I have downloaded the instructions for removing and also downloaded Flash 10.3 so that if I can't find a solution I will be forced into trying to go back to this older release to see if this provides a fix.

  • Installed Latest Flash and Shockwave players but not loading

    Hi,
I've installed/reinstalled Flash Player and Shockwave pleyers. I instaled in Safe Mode. I'ver used stand alone installers and unstallers. I've checked for malware and removed any found. I went back to an earlier verion of Firefox where  they worked but no result. Have same problem in Chorme. They worked before I upgraded to the latest versions. Adobe site test verifies successful installs.
I've not used the Microsoft tool.
Any help will be very much appreciated.

I found the answer on another forum, but since this result showed up higher in the google search results:
Install Flash player in the Internet explorer browser as well, it seems if you do it in FF it only installs what's necessary for Flash in FF

  • Flash and Facebook

Me and my husband on separate computers are having an awful time on Facebook. We keep getting Invalid URL's all the time, the games might or might not load and it does this with IE8 and Google Chrome. I also have on Farmville items that are there but the flash is not showing them but my friends on there computers can see the things I cannot see. Me and my husband are both using Vista 64 bit, we both have Google Dev to which the flash comes integrated into it. The Chrome is fast but when I get into a game then leave I may not be able to get back in. It says this a lot "page cannot be found" or "Invalid URL.  Is this a Flash issues or a Facebook issue? I know a lot of friends are using the very same Chrome as Me and husband and they have no issues. Is there some settings on my own computer I need to do or what. Is it that flash just has a problem with Facebook? So many questions and no real solutions.

First of all, using IE is just wrong in my opinion. Just because it comes with Windows doesn't mean it's even close to the best choice for a browser. Chrome is a lot smaller and faster than IE, but then that isn't saying much since Opera, Firefox, and even Netscape are smaller than IE, once you consider all the things that Microsoft has to have to make it run since it's also the basis for Windows Explorer.
Chrome is so basic it can't be really good for anything but basic browsing, checking your G-mail, and watching YouTube videos. Firefox or Opera would be a much better choice for Facebook and Farmville.
Second, I don't know if you keep up with the news, but Facebook is under a lot of scrutiny and pressure right now because of some very serious security flaws. If you don't have any correct and true personal information there and only use it to play Farmville, more power to you, but I'll need to see some serious attitude changes in Facebook management and administration before I put my real name and information there again.

  • Having problems with flash and facebook applications

i have been playing battle pirates on facebook. when i try a go to full screen veiwing it locks up. The last time it did it my veiwing area for the game was shrunk and now the images are overlapping. I need help to get it back right. I have thenewest flash installed and im useing windows7 64 bit

    Hi,
When you say locks up, are you talking about the page, the browser or your entire system?  Which browser are you using?  IE9?  You might want to try disabling hardware acceleration (see step 1 on this page) in Flash.  If that doesn't help, and you're using IE9, then try disabling GPU acceleration and see if that makes a difference.
    Thanks,

  • Repeated issues with Adobe Flash and Facebook Firefox 6

I have had repeated ongoing issues since upgrading to Firefox 6. Adobe Flash crashes repeatedly, even after installing the newest. In particular having a ton of issues with Facebook. It all works fine in IE, so have narrowed it down.
I think I would just like to go back to Firefox 5. Is that available somewhere?

    Anyone able to help please?
    Thanks.

  • Updated to the latest Flash on my iMac and now it's crashing on Mozilla. Restarted my computer and it didn't work. Any suggestions?

Just updated to the latest Flash and now it's saying for the last 2 days that Flash has crashed on my Firefox on my iMac. It was working fine before then. It wasn't working at first on my Safari either after the update but after closing the browser and reopening it, Flash was working. I tried the same thing with Firefox and even tried shutting the computer off and it still doesn't work. After uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox, of which I had the latest version before it was uninstalled, Flash still doesn't work. It doesn't work for games, videos, etc, even when trying to look at the Adobe website, it still says that it's crashed. I called Adobe and they said that it's not an Adobe product problem, but a browser problem. Any suggestions?

You updated from Flash 12 to Flash 13.0.0.182, correct?
IF it is the same thing, as seems likely, it would appear to be a known issue only affecting some Macs and the work around is to downgrade by using an uninstaller and reinstall the older versions

We have determined that this problem is due to a compiler update in our build infrastructure that exposed a long-standing bug in a Mac system library. Flash Player now attempts to use CPU instructions that are not available on a subset of supported Mac hardware from 2006 to 2007. None of the machines in our compatibility labs are affected, so the issue didn't show up in our testing, but we were able to track down a machine that reproduces the issue yesterday. We're actively working on a fix and I'll update this post again once we have more information.

  • I have the latest plugins and firefox but it still says 'adobe flash plugin has crashed' How do i fix this?

Every time I go on YouTube, it comes up with: 'adobe flash plugin has crashed'. I have tried refreshing and restarting my laptop, I have also got all the latest flash and Firefox, but it still won't work.

I'd start with disabling Hardware Acceleration, as described in the video troubleshooting guide below:
    Video playback issues
If that solves the problem, make sure that your graphics drivers are current.
If it *still* happens with current drivers, please give us detailed information on the graphics card and driver, so that we can disable hardware acceleration on this configuration and start a conversation with the appropriate vendor.
The best way to get this information is to do the following (on Windows):
    Open a command prompt
    Type: dxdiag
    Hit Enter
This should launch the DirectX Diagnostic Tool
Click Save All Information (or whatever that save button says).
Paste the contents into a reply here, or you can click Use Advanced Editor in the upper right of the reply window, and then attach the file using the link at the bottom right of the reply window.

  • When using FF 5.0, rollover type ads on Facebook game Lexulous pages are 'enlarged' and block 1/3 of the game board. Using up to date versions of Win 7 Home Premium, Adobe Flash and ActiveX

When using FF 5.0, rollover type ads (i.e. ads for XBOX) on Facebook game Lexulous pages are 'enlarged' and block 1/3 of the game board. Using up to date versions of Win 7 Home Premium, Adobe Flash and ActiveX on an HP Pavillion dv7 laptop. Does NOT happen at all in MS IE 8, but occurs every time in FF 5.0.
Also, Google 'translate this page' links do not work in FF 5.0, but works in MS IE 8. All I get in FF is a blank page, time after time.

    Hi,
I am using a Nvidia 4200M adapter in my Laptop, Driver 266.96, Direct X 11
In my desktop I am using an ATI XFX 6950, latest revision drivers (I am not at home right now so I cant get that info).
The issue I did describe above, but it was a long explanation.
In some flash games the game files load initially and get as far as the "click to start" button. Then the flash area usually goes either all white or all black (usually depending on the falsh game default background color) and then it stays that color. Cant see anything after hitting start (usually most games have an intro video or animation before the game starts, but I cant see any of it.
For the very few games that do start, the flash game or application does not seem to work correctly in that when the rare game starts, it wont save any game files or save files to the pc and so if I exit the game (navigate away to another page or close browser) and then later come back, even though I click the option to save games (and ensure that the flash application slider shows it can save files and lots of space) it does not save and I have to start from the beginning all the time.
    More explanation I gave above.

As you don't say which iMac you have (PPC or Intel):
You can check here:  http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/  to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS. Note that version 10,1,102,64 is the last version available to PPC Mac users*. The latest version,10.3 or later, is for Intel Macs only, as Adobe no longer support the PPC platform. Version 11.0.1.152 is for Lion.
    * Unhelpfully, if you want the last version for PPC Macs, you need to go here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html  and scroll down to 'Archived Versions/Older Archives'. Flash Player 10.1.102.64 is the one you download. More information here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/838/cpsid_83808.html
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/909/cpsid_90906.html
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.
(If you are running a PPC Mac with Flash Player 10.1.102.64 and are having problems with watching videos on FaceBook or other sites, contributor Texas Mac Man suggests the following solution which fools the site into thinking that you are running the latest version:)
Download this http://www.steelbin.com/FPforFBPPC.zip to your desktop, unzip it, and replace the current Flash Player plug-in which is in your main/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, (not the user Library). Save the old one just in case this one doesn't work.

    Hi Anne,
Your version of Safari is still supported.  Please see Adobe Flash Player | Tech specs for supported OS and browsers.
If the Flash Player plugin is in the Plug-ins (disabled) folder it's because it's an older version that Apple has disabled in Safari.  This has nothing to do with whether or not Flash Player supports the browser.
I'm not sure what you mean by "when i click on flash player itself i am told there is no application to open it."  Flash Player.plugin only works in the browser to view Flash content in the browser.  The plugin does not open files outside of the browser.  If you have SWF files you'd like to view outside of the browser, then you'll need the Flash Player projector. However, based on your previous comments this doesn't appear to be what you are trying to do.
Google Chrome does embed Flash Player in it, while Firefox does not.   Mozilla has also recently started blocking older versions of Flash Player in Firefox similar to what Apple is doing in Safari.
Following the 'clean install' instructions should result in you having the latest version of Flash Player installed that will not be blocked by the browser.

This is not a message that Adobe is providing, and I recommend that you not click on the link. It sounds as though you might have malware on your computer.

The Flash Player is not running but it is there and it is enabled and Active X is not checked. The Player version is 16.0.0.305.  I have the latest ie11 and the latest W8.1. I have used the Adobe tool to delete the Flash and subsequently I have updated or reloaded Flash using your updater.  I have gone into IE options and insured that the settings are supportive of Flash.  The Adobe mini Flash test program on your site says it not enabled or Active X is enabled - not true - all is set as it should be.  I have gone through your forums but to no avail.  I've looked in MS forums but nothing that made any difference.  What's going on and what can I do about it?

Try using Firefox. Flash usually works on Firefox when it won't on Safari. I noticed that the Safari does not show the same version as Firefox does. Iwonder if that could be the problem. Safari on the left shows 10.1, Firefox show 10.3

  • I can't get the websites like youtube, facebook, etc to load. everything comes up as just text/words. i've downloaded adobe flash and real player on windows xp.

i have windows xp. i just got the computer and internet on it. i downloaded adobe flash and real player. but i still can't get sites like facebook and youtube to work. i always get popups that ask if its a trusted site and to add the exception, which i do. yahoo and msn work, i can see photos and pictures and images just fine, but facebook and youtube are still all just words and error messages. any suggestions besides what i've already tried? i'm not tech savvy so step by step is how i learn best!

Check the date and time and time zone in the clock on your computer: (double) click the clock icon on the Windows Taskbar.
Check out why the site is untrusted and click "Technical Details" to expand this section.
If the certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided (sec_error_unknown_issuer) then see if you can install this intermediate certificate from another source.
You can retrieve the certificate and check details like who issued certificates and expiration dates of certificates.
*Click the link at the bottom of the error page: "I Understand the Risks"
Let Firefox retrieve the certificate: "Add Exception" -> "Get Certificate".
*Click the "View..." button and inspect the certificate and check who is the <b>issuer of the certificate</b>.
You can see more Details like intermediate certificates that are used in the Details pane.
If <b>"I Understand the Risks"</b> is missing then this page may be opened in an (i)frame and in that case try the right-click context menu and use "This Frame: Open Frame in New Tab".
*Note that some firewalls monitor (secure) connections and that programs like Sendori or FiddlerRoot can intercept connections and send their own certificate instead of the website's certificate.
*Note that it is not recommended to add a permanent exception in cases like this, so only use it to inspect the certificate.
