Latest Flash for G5?

The latest version of Flash fixes some security vulnerabilites in Flash, but also drops support for PowerPCs. At our company, we have to install the latest versions of the software to be compliant with security policies. Unfortunately, this means that we have to remove Flash for all our PowerPC Macs. The problem is some of our users who are using a PowerPC Mac need Flash to view webcasts for their job, or those who are doing Flash work for our Web site. Are we SOL? The G5's we have are still great Macs, but it's slowly being forced into obsolescence. It's ridiculous that we have to replace them just because of one small piece of software that has security flaws
Seems like another reason to get rid of Flash altogether. Steve Jobs is right.
Thanks.

There is a flash plugin included in Security Update 2011-004 (Leopard). It is the same 10.1.102.64 version number though, but it must be there for a reason.
If you view the plugin's contents it has two files in its "plugins" subfolder, one for Tiger and Leopard, and another for Snow Leopard.
I don't know if they quietly updated both or not.
I copied it (the whole plugin) to my mother's B&W G3 running 10.4.11 and it works FWIW (extracted with Pacifist).

  • Latest Flash for a PPC

Something has gone wrong with my Flash player plug in for instance I get 'missing plug in' or 'you need latest version of Flash player'.
Because I have power PC I can't use the latest version.
So I get linked to earlier versions but which one is the right one? I have tried a couple but they all fail do I need an uninstall first or can someone point to exactly where I can get the correct download?

The latest version of Adobe FlashPlayer can be obtained from here:
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash
(You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS. Note that version 10,1,102,64 is the last version available to PPC Mac users. The latest version, 10.2.152.25 or later, is for Intel Macs only, as Adobe no longer support the PPC platform.
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/865/cpsid_86551.html#prob1=uninst,os=m10.6,
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.

  • What is latest Flash for Solaris/UNIX?

    Hello,
I am currently running Firefox2 on Solaris 9 (UNIX) operating
    system.
I have the following flash version installed:
    Flash Player 7 for Solaris
    Version 7.0.66.0
    September 2006
When going to certain websites, they tell me that I need
    "Flash 8".
I went to your download site and attempted to dowload "Flash
    9", but
the download appears to be the same that I have installed:
    install_flash_player_7_solaris_sparc.tar.gz
    Question:
Does Flash 8 or Flash 9 exist for Solaris/UNIX? If not, when
    would it
be available? I am looking for the free version as I only use
    it for
    personal use.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Why latest flash player 11 version is not available for download?

Flash player about page (http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/) is showing the latest flash player as 11.3.300.255 for windows where as flash player download page is showing 11.2.202.235 fow download.

    Right now I don't even have a C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash folder or a C:\Windows\syswow64\Macromed\Flash folder!
BUT, I kid ... this is a trick response ... (W2KP users chuckling here). You are understandably overlooking that, at least on this Adobe Community Forum, I am a Windows 2000 Professional (W2KP) Operating System (OS) user
Consider that MY equivalent-to-the-whats-in-the-folder-query-you-pose is C:\WINNT\system32\Macromed\Flash and,
    the C:\WINNT\system32\Macromed\Flash folder currently contains:

As a W2KP dying breed, I am building to the drop-dead (D-D) versions of available software for W2KP. For instance, my D-D version of Firefox is 12.0, my D-D version of Internet Explorer is IE SP1 (6.0.2800.1160CO) etc.
(Note: Drop-dead sofware is software that will not be updated/upgraded ever-again-ever for W2KP)
I do think that this is an install issue and could use your help. Perhaps, a W2KP only and 11.3.300.257 issue?
I will be studying it further with the notion:
    The hack referrred to in:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4465086#4465086
maybe? doesn't work for Adobe Flash player 11.3.300.257 Plug-in variey (for FF and other user agents (browsers)?
Again, the ActiveX variety of Adobe Flash Player 11.3.300.257 INSTALLED fine using the hack and seems to RUN fine with IE SP1 on W2KP. So... it's a bit weird.
Will someone verify that the hack is doable for the plug-in var. If not, the W2KP D-D version of Adobe Flash Plug-in variety software is apparently gonna be Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.235.
    TIA

  • Latest flash player update 11.2.202.229 causing player for forcefully buffer full video content.

    Hi,
Been using the flash player for years on various websites, and over the past few days hundreds of videos have stopped working - seemingly related to computers / browsers with the latest flash player update.
Video just won't play at all - instead of playing, it starts to buffer the whole video file, but mostly never manages to complete and play.
Am I alone here - or is this a wider issue?
Here is just one example video that will not play with the latest version - http://www.vintra.co.uk/Client-Script-Libraries/Thurleigh_Investment_Management_Q1_Preview _1.htm
    Regards
    Stewart

    Hi Chris,
Thanks very much for the fast response. I have tried installing the 11.3 beta update onto a local PC, and this does seem to resolve the issue.
    And now the inevitable question...
When is 11.3 likely to get rolled out?
No doubt this is a tricky question for you to answer - but roughly, is this days/weeks/months away. I just could do with a vague idea, as we can cope with it for a day or two, but otherwise I'm going to need to come up with an alternative. My whole business is based around online video in one form or another - and everyone with the latest update can no longer use it - hence big problem for us.
    Many Thanks

  • Can't install latest Flash player 10.1 for Opera 10.53

    Hi all
Having a weird problem installing Flash Player 10.1.53.64. Flash is only installed partially, differently from earlier versions.
OS: Windows XP SP 3 (32bit)
    Browser: Opera 10.53
    old Flash player version: 10.0.45.2
I tried updating my Flash player today because of the security issues. I did it like I always do, following these steps, after of course closing all browsers and IM clients etc:
    1) download Flash uninstaller "uninstall_flash_player.exe" (md5: D049CF4ECD36EAC817D6D9025B470639) from http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html?promoid=DNRTE and run it when logged in as Administrator. The uninstaller said uninstallation was completed successfully. I manually checked that Flash files were deleted from c:\Program Files\Opera\program\plugins\ and c:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\ folders.
    2) download Flash installer for non-IE browsers "install_flash_player.exe" (md5: 6E23EADBA1E84F43E5D28053A8BA27A9) from http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/ and run it as Admin. The installer said installation was successful. I manually checked the C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\ folder and found NPSWF32.dll and FlashUtil10h_Plugin.exe added there. I then checked the Opera plugin folder c:\Program Files\Opera\program\plugins\ only to discover there was no NPSWF32.dll there. Previous versions of Flash player always installed that file in the Opera plugin folder because otherwise it won't work.
    3) Started Opera, went to the adobe.com Flash test page. It didn't work. Flash is not installed, Flash video doesn't work and NPSWF32.dll does not show up in Opera's plugin list.
In short: Flash installer installs to the system32\Macromed folder, but not to the browser plugin folder. Any ideas? Is this a bug? Thanks for helping

    FDF2ndltn,
I noticed a few things you said about how you installed Flash and I want to ask you about them plus some other questions. Did you ever have IE with Flash working before using Opera or another browser primarily? I have always updated Flash in the following manner: Delete Flash using current Adobe uninstaller; delete Shockwave using uninstaller from Shockwave Program folder; download Flash for IE (ActiveX); download Flash installer for non-IE browsers to my desktop and run; download Shockwave Player to my desktop and run. I don't know if there is a relationship between IE and the other browsers that gets affected when only non-IE Flash is installed.
This probably isn't significant, but have you tried downloading the installer from "Filehippo" directly to your desktop, and running it from there instead of from a special folder? It could affect which programs get updated.
Do you have any program that has a setting to kill/disable flash? For example, I have SpywareBlaster and it has a kill flash setting for IE that can alter flash installation and function. I don't know if Firefox has one, and if so, would it affect the other browsers.
How many accounts do you have on your system and how are they set up, for example, again: I have one Admin account and two Limited accounts. There is never a time when I don't have at least one of my accounts with Administrator rights. The reason I ask is because software can sometimes not function properly due to permission issues involving Admin and Limited accounts. Once in the past I had to manually adjust permission rights to make a program work, but it was something an MS expert published as an interim fix for one of my programs.
Below are both my install logs that were in my C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash folder after I installed Flash (both IE and non-IE). Sorry Adobe, but I did not know how to best post or display the logs other than as you see them.

Lastly, I have to mention again, my use of CCleaner and Regcleaner to clean my registry during uninstalls and installs. I have always used them as you've already read, so I can't tell you how my system would work without their use. I can't tell you whether registry entries get left on your system even after uninstalls. You checked your system folders, but it's not uncommon that items get left somewhere in your registry. Looking at the logs, you can see how some of the registry keys are getting affected. But, as I've said before, proceed with caution when using registry cleaners.

  • Help for PowerPoint 2007 crash when running embedded SWF file with latest Flash Player?

I have developed in Xcelsius 2008 SP4 a dashboard with only Excel as the source. I output to PowerPoint and then save it as a PowerPoint 2003 PPS file. On more than a few machines that have PowerPoint 2007, PowerPoint crashes when I attempt to run the presentation. This happens only with later versions of Flash Player. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling the latest Flash Player but it still crashes. However, when I revert back to Flash Player 10.1.159..., in PP 2007 the presentation runs perfectly.
With regard to the error I receive in PowerPoint 2007, it is as follows:
    Error Signature:
    AppName: powerpnt.exe AppVer: 12.0.6500.5000 AppStamp:49a68f9d
    ModName: flash10u.ocx ModVer: 10.3.181.34 ModStamp:4e011a1d
    fDebug: 0 Offset: 003a893c
Of note is that this behavior does not happen in PowerPoint 2003 nor does it happen when the file is saved as a SWF and launched directly in the browser on the problem machines.
I have to assume that this has happened to others so any help you could provide would be VERY appreciated.
    Thank you

    Hello,
on the first glance I see these: data="file:///Macintosh HD/Users/user/Documents/Website/Working.swf", what means the path to your swf file is pointing to your local hard drive which nobody can see except you. Please replace all thes pathes with the correct ones and load up your file(s) again.
If the problem remains, please send a link to your website in question, no matter how it looks like..
    Hans-Günter

  • When trying to install the latest flash player, I'm asked for my password which I have forgotten

I cannot install the latest flash player because I've forgotten my password.

Please see What userid & password do I need to install Flash Player?

  • IE9 RC and Latest Flash Player don't work

IE9 Release Candidate was pushed to tens of thousands of users yesterday and now the latest version of flash player does not work in it. I have one PC on Windows 7 64 bit and another on Windows 7 32 bit... same problem. Sites that use flash to display video are dead... including YouTube. They all say 'You need to upgrade your Adobe Flash Player to watch this video. ' which, of course, does not fix the problem. Another site uses flash for audio and it's DOA also. This is a huge deal because it is finally a browser from MS that is focused on standards compliance and it is very near completion. Any ideas when this will be addressed?

Hi, Take a look at your addons. Go to Tools, Manage addons and under "Show"(very light text) look in All addons. Find Shockwave Flash Object and make sure it's Enabled.
Sometimes updating a browser version may Disable this.
    Let me know.
    Thanks,

  • Firefox29, on a new win7 computer which has never had ff installed, will not install the latest flash plugin from adobe.

I promise to refrain from venting my disgust :-) but when FF 9 blew up the entire web. I had all kinds of issues so I did things like Bill Gates taught us to do. I re-installed windows 7, brand new, formatted HD and all. The very first thing I did was open IE to download FF29 from the mozilla site and it installed. I went to pages I know have fits with flash on purpose, www.nydailynews.com, for instance and got the message that no flash was installed, do I want to install it? Well, yes, I have brand new FF on a brand new computer, so to ahead. Did the usual, installed Flash, shut down, and even rebooted the computer, and golly gee, the web pages tell me I have no flash installed. Its in IE, and of course chrome, and it appears in the installed program control panel, but I can't use flash with FF 29.
I wiped the hard drive and reinstalled win 7, then installed ff 28. Went to adobe and installed their latest flash version, and still no flash in any version of firefox. I also checked the option to never update, but when I rebooted an opend FF29, it miraculously turned into FF29, and of course still does not work with the flash plugin.
I think firefox has had a world of trouble with Adobe Flash for over a year and have hoped for a solution. Basically a browser that cannot run Flash media is totally useless. I wonder why this problem was no addressed and corrected, when instead all the the resources were put into raping my computer and forcing FF29 onto it?
I am not a cry baby, who wants to complain, but will you please fix this issue so I don't have to abandon my favorite browser.. I don't enjoy Chrome, and IE is just not an option for me.
Before you make any moreoverhauls on the UI, could you fix the problems with flash. I find it a little condescending to tell a 25 year user of computers to make sure " you have the latest versions" when in fact I have a brand new install of windows and the very latest from Adobe and Mozilla and they do no wok together, even when I down grade to FF 28, which as I told you, automatically upgrades to FF 29 each time I boot up.
Please help. IF installing the latest Adobe onto a brand new hard drive and install of windows 7 fails, what do you suggest, as the usual " version issue" cannot apply here.
FWIW, I have vista on my laptop with the same problems, the same reinstalls and the same guaranteed latest versions. Since the hd is formtted, there cannot be an residual FF dlls hanging around or in the registry.
I have always seen open source as the way to the future, since the first PC arrived, but its looking like a bad idea.
If you want to build a firefox that works, I will pay for it, so long as I can get help when things break. Browsers are huge in the web, so paying for reliable performance seems like a fair thing to do.
I am sorry, but I am frustrated at the lack of progress towards a solution and really do not wish to be told to see if I am using the latest versions. I have taken every step possible and gone all the way to a brand new machine and FF does not work with flash reliably.
    Help? Please?

adobe test page says it is installed. but I said, some pages I visit say I don't have it installed.
I use prefbar ( I delete it and reinstall to make sure its not an issue) usually because it lets me turn off flash and avoid the crashing and locking up but when I check the flash block on prefbar, it says " plugin is not loaded"
I posted from the machine that does not work, but it does not work on my Vista Laptop, or my daughter's computer either. In all cases, I wiped the drives and reinstalled the OS and went directly to Firefox for 29 and to adobe for their latest.
Flash IS installed on my machine... It works in IE, and Chrome, but firefox 29 does not install the flash plugin, even tho the installer says all is well
The reason I went totally clean is to make sure there was no process blocking it or if Java was creating the issue as well. The reality is, I started with a brand new computer, three times, and Flash will not load into Firefox 29 in any case
I have started clean many times now and backed up and installed ff 28. I had no problem with the flash plugin using ff28, . I would have stayed there, but when shut down ff 28 and opened it later, it "magically downgraded to version 29" and i do mean " downgraded -( even tho I had gone into options and said do not install updates.
I am grateful for your attention. I find that web browsers are very important anymore, an a non functional one makes the web a waste. I mentioned www.nydailynews.com and would really not want to make a long list of every page that demands a flash plugin, for they are legion that I don't have, mostly because when the page wants flash, FF locks up. Its will not even let me copy the URL to try and make a list, but the browser is totally locked up and I have to kill the process I get the message I have been getting for about a year that the shockwave plugin has stopped working. There is no shockwave on my computer.
I know it looks like I have two different problems as the plugin does not load, but for instance, when I got it worrking in FF28, it loaded but constantly crashed an locked up the browser with the shockwave message, even tho I never install shockwave any time
Frustration is the word for the day, or the week :-)
    Thanks much

  • IPhone is at a grey screen after flashing for a few minutes

My iPhone is at a grey screen after flashing at the same screen for a couple of minutes.
I can turn my screen on and off, phone functions and siri both work. The screen is just grey, no error messages or anything.
This happened after I was trying to connect to a wifi hotspot and I was typing something into a field when it froze, flashed for a few minutes, and stayed on a grey screen. This has been going on for about an hour and a half.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Brialex119,
If your iPhone is flashing with a grey screen, I would suggest resetting the device and resetting the network settings.  If that does not resolve the issue, then you may need to back up to iCloud and restore it.
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201559
iOS: Wi-Fi settings grayed out or dim - Apple Support
    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204324
    Restart your iOS device.
Make sure that airplane mode is off by tapping Settings > Airplane Mode.
Reset the network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
This will reset all network settings, including Bluetooth pairing records, Wi-Fi passwords, VPN, and APN settings.
Make sure that your device is using the latest software. To do so, connect your device to your computer and check for updates in iTunes.
Back up and restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using iCloud or iTunes - Apple Support

hi im having huge problems trying to install flash for my mac 10.5 imac, iv gone through the internet and tried all of the solutions, everytime i try to install flash it says cant read the download file, or it just wont install, anybody plz help!
iv unistalled flash, iv checked plug ins it just wont work,

It would have been a great help to know precisely what Mac you have, so some of the following may not apply:
You can check here:  http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/  to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS. Note that version 10,1,102,64 is the last version available to PPC Mac users*. The latest version,10.3.183.23 or later, is for Intel Macs only running Tiger or Leopard, as Adobe no longer support the PPC platform. Version 11.4.402.265 or later is for Snow Leopard onwards.
(If you are running Mavericks: After years of fighting malware and exploits facilitated through Adobe's Flash Player, the company is taking advantage of Apple's new App Sandbox feature to restrict malicious code from running outside of Safari in OS X Mavericks.)
    * Unhelpfully, if you want the last version for PPC (G4 or G5) Macs, you need to go here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html  and scroll down to 'Archived Versions/Older Archives'. Flash Player 10.1.102.64 is the one you download. More information here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/838/cpsid_83808.html
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/909/cpsid_90906.html
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications (including Safari) first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.
After installing, reboot your Mac and relaunch Safari, then in Safari Preferences/Security enable ‘Allow Plugins’. If you are running 10.6.8 or later:
When you have installed the latest version of Flash, relaunch Safari and test.
If you're getting a "blocked plug-in" error, then in System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
click Check Now. Quit and relaunch your browser.
You can also try these illustrated instructions from C F McBlob to perform a full "clean install", which will resolve the "Blocked Plug-in" message when trying to update via the GUI updater from Adobe.
Use the FULL installer for 12.0.0.44:  Flash Player 12 (Mac OS X)
And the instructons are here: Snow Leopard Clean Install.pdf
(If you are running a PPC Mac with Flash Player 10.1.102.64 and are having problems with watching videos on FaceBook or other sites, try the following solution which fools the site into thinking that you are running the version 11.5.502.55:)
Download this http://scriptogr.am/nordkril/post/adobe-flash-11.5-for-powerpc to your desktop, unzip it, and replace the current Flash Player plug-in which is in your main/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, (not the user Library). Save the old one just in case this one doesn't work.

  • Corrupt file problems installing latest Flash on Windows Vista - help please?!

When trying to install the latest Flash on my Windows Vista (I'm not great with computers so more than the internet system I use I'm not sure what other details are necessary), I keep getting the message "install_flashplayer11x32_mssd_aih.exe - Corrupt File. File or directory C:\$Secure is corrupt and unreadable. Please run the Chkdsk utility." As I have no idea what the Chkdsk utility is, or how to run it, can someone please tell me how to fix this problem? Apparently I have Flash Player installed on my computer, but not the plug-in necessary to play media files on the internet. What do I need to do to fix this?

This Microsoft help document should walk you through the steps of using Chkdsk to scan (and repair) your hard drive.

i have mac 10.6.8 and safari 5.1.10. on checking help website i am told latest flash player 16.0.0.305 is already installed BUT does not appear on my list of applications and am unable to access websites requiring it. have also downloaded flash player installer app but unable to download the flash player itself. can anyone help? thank you!

    Hi Anne,
Your version of Safari is still supported.  Please see Adobe Flash Player | Tech specs for supported OS and browsers.
If the Flash Player plugin is in the Plug-ins (disabled) folder it's because it's an older version that Apple has disabled in Safari.  This has nothing to do with whether or not Flash Player supports the browser.
I'm not sure what you mean by "when i click on flash player itself i am told there is no application to open it."  Flash Player.plugin only works in the browser to view Flash content in the browser.  The plugin does not open files outside of the browser.  If you have SWF files you'd like to view outside of the browser, then you'll need the Flash Player projector. However, based on your previous comments this doesn't appear to be what you are trying to do.
Google Chrome does embed Flash Player in it, while Firefox does not.   Mozilla has also recently started blocking older versions of Flash Player in Firefox similar to what Apple is doing in Safari.
Following the 'clean install' instructions should result in you having the latest version of Flash Player installed that will not be blocked by the browser.
    Maria
