Latest flash installation

Angry that I can't update the latest version of flash onto my macbook, which is only 5 years old. What's the deal?

Yes, that OS version is too old.  If your Mac is a Power PC, then there is nothing you can do.  If it's an Intel processor, then you should upgrade your OS version to install the latest Flash Player version.

  • Downloading offline (standalone) installer of latest Flash player?

When visiting the normal download link for the latest Flash player (currently 10.3.183.10), it says the file is 2.95 MB. But it's actually 766 KB, i.e. it's a web installer.
I want to install flash player on a computer which doesn't have proper internet access (don't ask why, long story). Can I find the complete, full, standalone "offline" installer anywhere on adobe.com ?

    Hi,
I went in search of a standalone or offline installer of the latest Adobe Flash and a Google search landed me here.  Anyway I managed to sort out my download but not with anything on this posting so I have registered to share my solution:
Searching for an 'offline' or 'standalone' isntaller doesnt work.  If you search on Google for 'adobe flash distribution download' or something along those lines using the keyword 'distribution' you will quickly find what you need.  That said below is the link that works at the time of this posting:

  • Msi installer not latest Flash version, still dated 27th Jan!

I work in a large school, we use the distributable flash installer to roll out Flash to our machines. Adobe still hasn't updated their msi files to the current version! So our machines are out of date....
Anyone else in the same boat, fancy airing your frustrations?

The current Flash Player version is 10.0.45.2; the '.exe' installer for 10.0.45.2 I have is dated Jan. 27.
I know that the 10.0.45.2 was reissued somethime in February, but that just added some kind of version check (checking for the presence of later [beta] versions), which just caused problems for lots of users.
So why not use the Jan. 27 installer?

  • Firefox29, on a new win7 computer which has never had ff installed, will not install the latest flash plugin from adobe.

I promise to refrain from venting my disgust :-) but when FF 9 blew up the entire web. I had all kinds of issues so I did things like Bill Gates taught us to do. I re-installed windows 7, brand new, formatted HD and all. The very first thing I did was open IE to download FF29 from the mozilla site and it installed. I went to pages I know have fits with flash on purpose, www.nydailynews.com, for instance and got the message that no flash was installed, do I want to install it? Well, yes, I have brand new FF on a brand new computer, so to ahead. Did the usual, installed Flash, shut down, and even rebooted the computer, and golly gee, the web pages tell me I have no flash installed. Its in IE, and of course chrome, and it appears in the installed program control panel, but I can't use flash with FF 29.
I wiped the hard drive and reinstalled win 7, then installed ff 28. Went to adobe and installed their latest flash version, and still no flash in any version of firefox. I also checked the option to never update, but when I rebooted an opend FF29, it miraculously turned into FF29, and of course still does not work with the flash plugin.
I think firefox has had a world of trouble with Adobe Flash for over a year and have hoped for a solution. Basically a browser that cannot run Flash media is totally useless. I wonder why this problem was no addressed and corrected, when instead all the the resources were put into raping my computer and forcing FF29 onto it?
I am not a cry baby, who wants to complain, but will you please fix this issue so I don't have to abandon my favorite browser.. I don't enjoy Chrome, and IE is just not an option for me.
Before you make any moreoverhauls on the UI, could you fix the problems with flash. I find it a little condescending to tell a 25 year user of computers to make sure " you have the latest versions" when in fact I have a brand new install of windows and the very latest from Adobe and Mozilla and they do no wok together, even when I down grade to FF 28, which as I told you, automatically upgrades to FF 29 each time I boot up.
Please help. IF installing the latest Adobe onto a brand new hard drive and install of windows 7 fails, what do you suggest, as the usual " version issue" cannot apply here.
FWIW, I have vista on my laptop with the same problems, the same reinstalls and the same guaranteed latest versions. Since the hd is formtted, there cannot be an residual FF dlls hanging around or in the registry.
I have always seen open source as the way to the future, since the first PC arrived, but its looking like a bad idea.
If you want to build a firefox that works, I will pay for it, so long as I can get help when things break. Browsers are huge in the web, so paying for reliable performance seems like a fair thing to do.
I am sorry, but I am frustrated at the lack of progress towards a solution and really do not wish to be told to see if I am using the latest versions. I have taken every step possible and gone all the way to a brand new machine and FF does not work with flash reliably.
    Help? Please?

adobe test page says it is installed. but I said, some pages I visit say I don't have it installed.
I use prefbar ( I delete it and reinstall to make sure its not an issue) usually because it lets me turn off flash and avoid the crashing and locking up but when I check the flash block on prefbar, it says " plugin is not loaded"
I posted from the machine that does not work, but it does not work on my Vista Laptop, or my daughter's computer either. In all cases, I wiped the drives and reinstalled the OS and went directly to Firefox for 29 and to adobe for their latest.
Flash IS installed on my machine... It works in IE, and Chrome, but firefox 29 does not install the flash plugin, even tho the installer says all is well
The reason I went totally clean is to make sure there was no process blocking it or if Java was creating the issue as well. The reality is, I started with a brand new computer, three times, and Flash will not load into Firefox 29 in any case
I have started clean many times now and backed up and installed ff 28. I had no problem with the flash plugin using ff28, . I would have stayed there, but when shut down ff 28 and opened it later, it "magically downgraded to version 29" and i do mean " downgraded -( even tho I had gone into options and said do not install updates.
I am grateful for your attention. I find that web browsers are very important anymore, an a non functional one makes the web a waste. I mentioned www.nydailynews.com and would really not want to make a long list of every page that demands a flash plugin, for they are legion that I don't have, mostly because when the page wants flash, FF locks up. Its will not even let me copy the URL to try and make a list, but the browser is totally locked up and I have to kill the process I get the message I have been getting for about a year that the shockwave plugin has stopped working. There is no shockwave on my computer.
I know it looks like I have two different problems as the plugin does not load, but for instance, when I got it worrking in FF28, it loaded but constantly crashed an locked up the browser with the shockwave message, even tho I never install shockwave any time
Frustration is the word for the day, or the week :-)
    Thanks much
    Kind regards,
    John

  • I have an iMac running OSX 10.6.8 and updated to the latest  flash player but the audio on youtube music still won't respond.  Any suggestions besides buying a new computer?

I have an eight year old iMac running OSX 10.6.8 and just installed the latest Flash Player but the audio won't play on the youtube music website.  What else do I need to update or install to listen to the music?

just installed the latest Flash Player
Did you uninstall all the previous versions of Adobe Flash Player?  Did you repair permissions and restarted your computer after the installation?
Which browser & version are you using?  Have you tried other browsers?
    Please advise.

    Hi Anne,
Your version of Safari is still supported.  Please see Adobe Flash Player | Tech specs for supported OS and browsers.
If the Flash Player plugin is in the Plug-ins (disabled) folder it's because it's an older version that Apple has disabled in Safari.  This has nothing to do with whether or not Flash Player supports the browser.
I'm not sure what you mean by "when i click on flash player itself i am told there is no application to open it."  Flash Player.plugin only works in the browser to view Flash content in the browser.  The plugin does not open files outside of the browser.  If you have SWF files you'd like to view outside of the browser, then you'll need the Flash Player projector. However, based on your previous comments this doesn't appear to be what you are trying to do.
Google Chrome does embed Flash Player in it, while Firefox does not.   Mozilla has also recently started blocking older versions of Flash Player in Firefox similar to what Apple is doing in Safari.
Following the 'clean install' instructions should result in you having the latest version of Flash Player installed that will not be blocked by the browser.

  • Updated to the latest Flash on my iMac and now it's crashing on Mozilla. Restarted my computer and it didn't work. Any suggestions?

Just updated to the latest Flash and now it's saying for the last 2 days that Flash has crashed on my Firefox on my iMac. It was working fine before then. It wasn't working at first on my Safari either after the update but after closing the browser and reopening it, Flash was working. I tried the same thing with Firefox and even tried shutting the computer off and it still doesn't work. After uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox, of which I had the latest version before it was uninstalled, Flash still doesn't work. It doesn't work for games, videos, etc, even when trying to look at the Adobe website, it still says that it's crashed. I called Adobe and they said that it's not an Adobe product problem, but a browser problem. Any suggestions?

You updated from Flash 12 to Flash 13.0.0.182, correct?
IF it is the same thing, as seems likely, it would appear to be a known issue only affecting some Macs and the work around is to downgrade by using an uninstaller and reinstall the older versions

We have determined that this problem is due to a compiler update in our build infrastructure that exposed a long-standing bug in a Mac system library. Flash Player now attempts to use CPU instructions that are not available on a subset of supported Mac hardware from 2006 to 2007. None of the machines in our compatibility labs are affected, so the issue didn't show up in our testing, but we were able to track down a machine that reproduces the issue yesterday. We're actively working on a fix and I'll update this post again once we have more information.

It is best to go to the source, Adobe, to get their software and updates. Sometimes malware can infect sites with messages that appear legitimate, but will, instead, install malware/virus/trojan on your system. Read the following carefully to install and/or update Adobe Flash.
There are 2 versions of Adobe Flash; an '''ActiveX version''' for IE only and a '''Plugin version''' for most other browsers including Firefox. On a Windows system, you should always update both individually. '''''You do not have Adobe Flash (aka "Shockwave Flash" in Add-ons > Plugins) installed.'''''

YES, we should follow all pop-up dialog instruction especially Flash CAN NOT install with any open IE, etc. browser using Flash (see behind your open browser) if there is one open.
The correct way to get Flash is to use your choice Browser (32 or 64 bit) or click the option that you have a different O.S., etc. Choose SAVE AS and remember where you saved it. Close ALL Browser. Find and click the downloaded Adobe Flash Payer file. Don't do anything with your PC and wait after final installation -- it'll tell you how successfully you're with a new web page. Restart your PC if it ask you to or better do it now.

  • Annoying Problem - Flash Installation

Basically my problem is this. Whenever I go on certain
websites, sometimes the flash content works and other times it
doesn't. I tried to reinstall Flash Player 8 but it says it's
already installed, but then when I go to view flash content on
another site it says I do not have Flash Player. I went into
Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and I removed Flash Player 8
(Which strangely there seemed to be 2 of, maybe where the problem
lies), but then I come back to the website to try install it and it
    says it's already installed.
I'm a bit confused wondering why it says I have it installed
despite just removing it myself, but I went and tried another site
and it's still not working. I don't really know what to do as the
installer on the site says I have the player, but everywhere else
says I don't. But there is no way of downloading the player from
the site and installing it on my PC from a client-side file from
what I can gather, so I have to use the installer on the site which
is annoying as I feel the site way is not actually installing
anything at all. I don't get the ActiveX alert from the site
either, but I'm sure that's because I already have it, as this is
    only a recent problem.
I'm currently using IE 7.0.5346.5 (Beta 2) on Windows XP Home
(w/ SP2), but I updated my IE to try and counter the problem but it
didn't work. When I use Netscape 8.0 the flash content seems to
show up perfectly and I have no problem, but I prefer using IE to
    the very slow-loading Netscape.
I read about a similar problem on here but it seemed be about
the Safari browser and not IE, so hopefully somebody knows/can help
with this? I'd be eternally greatful for any solution anyone can
    provide.

    Hi Dave,
I've got a confirmation that my VBScript is appropriate :

BTW, if you use Norton as AntiVirus, you'll have an alert
    because of
the access to registry and files inside the script.
    http://docxp.mvps.org/b1n/FlashRepair.exe
This script can't repair ALL flash problems, but i think it
    is
fine for yours. On a fully functionnal Flash installation, it
    can't
    break anything.
What the script is doing ?
    0) Check I.E. user langage for french or english use in
    dialogs
    1) Close all open Internet Explorer windows
    2) change registry rights (to allow 3) or re-installation) on
    flash related keys
    3) register latest flash ocx (if found)
    4) remove lock of flash CLSID by "kill bit"
FYI : this script is locked for XP use only.
You want to check code before launching ?
No problem, just unzip the .exe and open vbs file with
    notepad
Ini file is for registry rights change.
    Hope this helps

  • Problems Installing Latest Flash Player

    Hellohello!
My Adobe Flash Player for Mozilla Firefox has been giving me troubles these past months, so today I decided to install a more recent version on my laptop.
Following the instructions, I deinstalled the old version before initializing the download/installation of the latest Flash Player. That, however, proved to be a mistake, as the installation has failed continously so far and now I have no player to my avail at all.
I have tried installation several times, but the process didn't even start and just left me the message 'Aktionsliste nicht gefunden' (action list not found).
I'm using a Fujitsu Siemens Laptop Computer with 32 Bit operating system and Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU processor. Windows Visa with Service Pack 2 is installed. So I guess the problem can't be due to a deficiency in system requirements and I also made sure that the required plug-in is activated and that any other version of the player is removed from my laptop.
Being anything but a computer/IT expert, I would be very very grateful if anybody could help me out. I'm at my wit's end in this matter, have spent the last three hours scouting for possible solutions to this problem.. to no avail whatsoever.
    Thanks a million in advance!!
    Laura

    Hi Laura,
Most of these installation problems are caused by antivirus apps. These days, practically all of them incorporate web shields to protect you from downloading malware, files shields to prevent you from installing rogue pograms and the like. It's the file scanner which is the most problematical because it springs into action as soon as you run an installer of any kind. This interferes with the installation process and leads to file corruption further down the line.
In the current circumstances, I suggest you proceed as follows. First of all, disable all antivirus shields. If you happen to be using AVAST antivirus, right click the orange icon in the systray and choose to disable all shields for one hour. If you're using a different AV app, look for something similar in the user menus. Then proceed as follows.
Download the Flash uninstaller from here: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
    Close all browsers.
Reboot. This is important to clear the Windows Registry after you uninstall something.
When the system reboots to the desktop, disable those AV shields again.
Download the installer from here: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax_32bit.exe This is the installer for Internet Explorer. When you see the prompt, choose "Run" to install it immediately.
If you use another browser like Firefox, Opera, Safari etc., download this one as well: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_32bit.exe When you see the download prompt for this one, choose "Save" instead and save it somewhere you can find it afterwards.
After you complete the installation process, go to http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ to check that everything went according to plan.
You may require this player as well: http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/ It's rather like an enhanced version of the Flash Player and you'll need it to play games where you have some interaction with the animation. You don't need to run an uninstaller for this one. Simply download and click "Run" in Internet Explorer where you want to install it in that specific browser, or choose "Save" when you want to install it in any other browser.

  • Trouble with Flash Installation

I am having troubles downloading and installing the latest flash and reader versions.  I get the download box after agreeing to the TOS and it goes through the bar and then I get the Initializing Install box and it sits there for a few moments and I get " Installation encountered errors.  Actionlist not found."  Then it takes me to the troubleshooting page.  I have tried both downloaders as well here http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html with the same results.  The machine is running XP Pro 32 bit along with IE8.  I get the same results when using other browser including Firefox and Silverlight.  I'm at wits end and have  tried everything I can think of short of a reformat and install.  Any suggestions?

I can expand somewhat as you are running a different OS than the computer I was working on.  I had to do a repair with the Windows XP disk which got rid of the registry entries for Zeus but was still trying to run.  Once I had all of the updates done from microsoft, I reinstalled Malwarebytes from http://www.malwarebytes.org and ran a full scan. That is what detected the Hotbar malware.  Just for good measure after that I downloaded and installed CCleaner from http://www.piriform.com/ and checked the prefetch data option and ran both the Cleaner and the Registry options. Both of these programs have free and purchased options.  After all of that it finally got both of those out of the system and I was able to download and install Adobe Flash and Reader again.  I hope this helps.  You might just start with the updates and 2 programs as the computer had other issues with a corrupted registry that caused me to do the repair in the first place.
