Latest Flash version crashing both Firefox and IE

Hello.
Been using Flash in both IE and Firefox for years with no major problems until the last update a little over a week ago. Now, whenever I am watching video for more than about 5 minutes, the process for either browser's memory grows steadily way way up from where it normally is - and where it started (and where it used to stay) - and eventually crashes the player, the browser and freezes the entire computer. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing Flash and it hasn't helped. I stopped using Explorer a long time ago and switched to Firefox but went back and checked to see if it would be any different using that browser -figuring it might just be a Firefox issue, but the same thing happens. So I just downloaded Chrome and will try and see what happens with that - but am very troubled, since this has caused me great unhappiness and stress over the last week.
So the problems seem to be with 15.0.0.152 / 167
Any suggestions? Is this a known issue? Thanks.
Windows XP - all up to date. No other issues. System is fine. Have run all sorts of system checks and malware scans and it shows up clean.
Thanks again.

Same thing happens with Chrome. So all three different browsers - same problem with flash.
Was trying to watch a 4 hour long live stream of a game tonight - and needless to say, having to deal with a crash and have page file skyrocket every 5 minutes was not fun.

  • Latest FLASH plugin crashes both Mac and PC with NO customizations or hardware acceleration

    Never had a problem before until I updated my flash plugin a few weeks ago.
    FLASH will shut off a vulnerable plugin, so the only way you can access content is to update.
    There are NO customizations and NO hardward acceleration on either Mac 10.6.8 or PC Windows 8.1
    BOTH computers are crashing.
    I've sent about 10 reports alone today!
    I've cleared my cache, reset my permission, and all is well.

  • Adobe Flash Plugin Crash in Firefox and IE

    About a week ago my firefox and internet explorer browsers haven't been able to play any flash movies.  For example, I go to http://www.adobe.com/products/flash.html and click play on the main video section that pops up and the adobe flash plugin has crashed screen appears.
    I also uninstalled and reinstalled flash to the newest version and back to version 10.3 as well and both of these things did not fix the problem.
    Please let me know if you need any other info to help fix the problem.  I appreciate the help!

  • Flash Player crashes on Firefox and Windows 8

    I too have this problem and it occurred after Firefox's recent update.
    The Flash Player crashes any time I open a website with embedded Flash videos.
    I cannot watch anything that requires Flash Player and when on Facebook, the pages continually crash. I send a crash report each time then reload and it crashes again. I send about 20 reports per hour and am sick of it and have started using another browser where I do not have this problem but my preferred browser is Firefox.
    I have Firefox 35.0.1 which is the latest  version.
    My operating system is Windows 8
    The plugin I have for Flash Player is Firefox, Mozilla - NPAPI 16.0.0.296 however when I check with Flash Player, it tells me the version I have is 16.0.0.235.
    When I try to upgrade, I am informed that my version is up to date.
    Steps taken
    - updated Flash Player
    - Cleared caches
    - Unchecked hardware acceleration in Firefox.
    I cannot find the menu for Flash Player as I'd like to try to disable hardware accelerator there too.
    HELP please.

    Your issue is distinct from the original poster's issue about a crash on Mac.  I've branched this out to a new thread so that we're not confusing everyone.
    Firefox on Win8 isn't very stable.  We're collaborating with Mozilla on improvements, and my test results with the daily development builds are really promising, but it will be a few more weeks before they actually make it to production releases.
    In the meantime, you're way better off using IE or Chrome.

  • Flash is crashing both Firefox 2 & IE7

    My system, Windows XP SP3, IE 7, Firefox 2.0 , Flash Player
    9.0.124.0. After a recent Windows update which included SP3 I had
    to install Flash Player latest version for IE7. The normal Flash
    download and install wouldn't work. It caused IE7 to crash
    repeatedly. Followed Adobe's online recommendations - uninstall and
    redownload didn't work. Downgrading IE7 security to medium didn't
    work. The Adobe Flash uninstall tool didn't work. Their final
    online solution (which required several steps) regarding Windows
    registry permissions was successful for IE7in my case: from the
    Adobe technote -
    "Download SubInACL from Microsoft to fix permission issues
    that prevent the Flash Player installation. For instruction on how
    to run SubInACL to fix these permission issues please refer to
    "Download SubInACL from Microsoft to fix permission issues that
    prevent the Flash Player installation" (TechNote fb1634cb)."
    Update - Now 6 days later and IE7 crashes have returned. No
    major system changes or updates in that time. The IE7 crashes are
    most noticeable on Yahoo sites ( Yahoo!mail for instance) when
    Flash ads try to load... Created a new Firefox profile and that
    seems to have fixed the Firefox crashes, but wait and see...

    Same thing happens with Chrome. So all three different browsers - same problem with flash.
    Was trying to watch a 4 hour long live stream of a game tonight - and needless to say, having to deal with a crash and have page file skyrocket every 5 minutes was not fun.

  • Flash Player crashes IE9, Firefox and Chrome

    The latest version of Flash Player 11.4.402.287 is causing my browsers (IE9, Firefox and Chrome) to crash when I'm on Pixorial.  I've contacted Pixorial customer service but they say it's a Flash Player problem.
    I'm running the following:
    Windows 7 Professional
    Chrome 22.2.1229.94 m
    IE9 9.0.8112.16421IC
    I have updated the display adapter driver (I read somewhere that might help) but no change.  I am having the same problem on my laptop at home which is using the exact same versions I have typed above, except it uses Windows XP.
    Any help is sincerely appreciated.  I'm at the end of my rope and I don't know how to fix this.

    I got reply and they said it's not necessarily a Flash Player problem. The app need to load heavy resource to run so it might be causing performance issue under your HW/SW configration. Have your machine with same setting worked fine before and suddenly started the issue after installing Flash 11.4.402.287?

  • Flash Player Crashing on Firefox and IE9

    I recently updated my firefox and Flash player to the latest versions and now everytime i want to watch a video or anything that is used with the flash player, the flash player keeps crashing and tells me that i need to update it.. I have already tried uninstalling it and installing it again and it still won't work  I don't know if its because i have a bug or what is the prob exactly.  It was working on my IE9 before i uninstalled and installed again the latest version, but not on firefox.  Now its not working on either.  I have the Acer Aspire 5100 32-bit running on Vista Home Premium.  If anyone can help, I would SO MUCH appreciate it.

    what i did following his instructions, was using firefox, go to http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ like he mentioned above and your going to see the adobe flash player animation on top of the page. Right click on the animation and click on "settings" and then uncheck the "enable hardware accelaration".. It still won't work on my IE since i have IE9 and its still beta. But it shouls work if you follow the instructions using firefox

  • In Firefox, I cannot access web links to PDF files. I'm told the browser isn't compatible. I have recent versions of both Firefox and Acrobat, and the pages open fine in IE.

    Any website that send me to a .pdf file will not open if I'm using firefox. In order to print postage from usps.com, for example, an Acrobat window has to open, and it won't.

    Pat, thanks for your reply. I finally had some time to look further into this problem and still trying to figure out. First to answer your questions:
    what is your operating system & version? Windows 7 Professional
    on what browser(s) does that happen? Google Chrome, Firefox, IE
    does it happen for any PDF link, e.g. this? Yes, any link with a pdf extension
    does it still hapen with the latest Reader version 10.1.4? Yes, just downloaded it last week and still the same.
    Another thing I noticed is afer unsuccessfully trying to access the pdf link, the resulting blank page reads "Could not load Adobe Acrobat" (could not load plug-in).
    I do have Adobe Creative Suite 3 installed, which of course provides for Adobe Acrobat; I'm not sure if there is a conflict there, but I might uninstall everything and then just try with Adobe Reader to see from there.
    I hope some of this helps. I appreciate your efforts in trying to assist.
    Cheers,
    Vinnie.

  • Latest debug version crashing in Firefox a lot

    Hello,
    The last debug version gave me no problems in Firefox.  But the current debug version crashes if I start tracing through code randomly.
    I'm not sure if this is Flash debug or Firefox update.
    Anyone else experiencing this?
    ,Jim

    Actually this answer didn't fix my crashes!
    I still crash in Firefox when I hit(not sure the name for this), one of those windows that says dismiss all.
    I had back to back crashes in something that in FB 4.0, I could just click dismiss all.

  • Oracle financials crashes in firefox and ie

    Hi,
    I'm new so thanks in advance for any help.
    oracle financials (OF) crashes both firefox and IE. I've changed jinitiator versions, jre versions, firefox (3.5.2 and 3.0.x) and IE versions (7 and 8) and still OF crashes the browser. There's no error message- just a window that says the browser crashed. I've installed different versions of everything in an effort to match the configurations of different computers on our network where OF is working fine, and it still crashes for this one user at the same window- after the responsibility page.
    I gave the user a newly imaged computer and everything worked fine for a few days. Today it just quit working for her. One thing she said she had done right before everything stopped working was run ms access. She didn't have the new laptop's odbc configured yet so she didn't even do anything other than open the software. It seems like these things are related, but I don't know. She's able to log into OF, but as soon as she clicks a link like "Batch" and the java magic starts the browser goes kaput.
    I don't have any experience with OF so other than changing the jre, jinitiator or browser version I'm at a loss. The IT department is stumped since it works for other people.
    Does this strike a chord with anyone?

    Fixed.
    Start > My Computer (right-click) > Properties > Advanced > Settings (Performance) > Data Execution Prevention > Turn on DEP fro all programs and services except those I select:
    Internet Explorer
    Firefox
    Java (traversed to the java.exe through C:\Program Files\Oracle\bin
    Probably not a supported fix, but she's up and running again. If anyone has comments, please let me know.

  • Trying to find out which line of AS2 code is causing flash player crash in firefox & chrome browser

    Hello,
    I have a flash movie (AS2) created for the website visitors' registration and this flash movie is longer in size than the browser's window height so that site visitors need to browse down using browser's vertical scroll bar to see all of the contents in the flash movie.
    When users click the submit button in the flash movie then
    Firstly, the AS2 code attached to the      on(release){    event scrolls the html page back to the top (because the user must have scrolled down to view the flash movie content at the bottom of the page and I want the html page to go back to the top of the page)
    getURL("javascript:window.scroll(0,0)");    // this is the AS2 code I have used for scrolling the page back to the top. I suspect this code is causing the flash player crash in firefox and google chrome
    and also tells the _root of the flash movie to go to and stop at a frame named "StartEnteringData".
    _root.gotoAndStop("StartEnteringData")     //making the _root of the movie to go to the "StartEnteringData" frame
    this.gotoAndStop("Start")                                  //making this movieclip which contains the registation form to go to the first blank frame labelled "Start"
    The "StartEnteringData" frame on the _root of the flash movie has AS2 code for entering the registration data to the database by using loadVariablesNum( ... )
    Here's my question.
    Almost everytime the user/visitor click the Submit button, the firefox browser users and google chrome browswer users see the Flash Player CRASH...
    This doesn't happen often with the website visitors using MS Internet Explorer.
    I have read some www articles (by searching google) saying that Adobe Flash Player in Firefox and Chrome browsers crash a lot.
    But, for my flash movie, everytime the visitor clicks the submit button, flash player crashes. Therefore, I guess it is the AS2 code that I'm using (associated with the on(release) event of the submit button) is causing the flash player crash rather then the flash player compatibility with Firefox and Chrome browsers.
    So, someone please tell me what's causing the flash player crash.
    Is there a better code to make a web page to go back to the top?
    I am also using the codes shown below on the first keyframe of the main movie. (_root)
    //For custom flash right click menu:
    var myMenu_cm:ContextMenu = new ContextMenu();
    myMenu_cm.builtInItems.zoom = true;
    myMenu_cm.builtInItems.quality = false;
    myMenu_cm.builtInItems.print = false;
    myMenu_cm.builtInItems.save = false;
    myMenu_cm.builtInItems.loop = false;
    myMenu_cm.builtInItems.rewind = false;
    myMenu_cm.builtInItems.play = false;
    myMenu_cm.builtInItems.forward_back = false;
    _root.menu = myMenu_cm;
    //For tiling the flash movie background with bitmap picture
    import flash.display.BitmapData;
    var tile:BitmapData = BitmapData.loadBitmap("pattern");
    this.beginBitmapFill(tile);
    this.lineTo(Stage.width, 0);
    this.lineTo(Stage.width, Stage.height);
    this.lineTo(0, Stage.height);
    this.lineTo(0, 0);
    this.endFill();

    by repeatedly commenting out lines of code you suspect are causing the crush and retesting you should be able to pinpoint the problem.

  • Cannot open grooveshark due to a supposed problem loading flash. (I have the latest version of both (Mozilla and Flash)

    Everything with firefox works ok except Grooveshark. An error message appears saying: We had problems loading flash, you might have any blocker etc etc.
    I don´t have any blocker and as a matter of fact i have the latest versions for both mozilla and flash. Neither version of flash test nor reinstallation process nor checking add ons or firewall settings solved my problem.
    Thanks for the attention. Regards

    To double-check your Flash permissions for the site, you can click the globe or padlock icon to the left of the address, click More Information, then click the Permissions tab. The "Activate Plugins" section would be the one to check.
    I understand you have checked your add-ons, but in case there is an unexpected interaction, could you test the page in Firefox's Safe Mode just to confirm that extensions are not the problem? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
    You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
    * "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    * Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    ''Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run''
    After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset).
    Any difference?

  • Flash Player constantly crashes on Firefox and Chrome, works on Safari

    Hello!
    This is my first time posting here. I've been working on this all day and have made NO progress.
    I'm on a Mac OS X 10.9.3 (this was also happening with 10.9.2, I applied the 10.9.3 update today hoping it would make difference).
    ANY version of Flash Player I've installed today has worked fine on Safari, and not worked on both Chrome and Firefox. I've uninstalled reinstalled both Firefox and Chrome many times. Both browsers are up to date (Chrome v34, Firefox v29). There are no logs or anything ever.
    The plugin runs for a little bit then dies. I've tried reverting to version 12, and version 11, neither made a difference. I've done the whole disable the pepper plugin with Chrome and had Chrome using the other one I had installed. No difference.
    I'm OUT of ideas and can't find any other information or help with this. PLEASE HELP!

  • Firefox won't play videos from YouTube, Hulu, etc. w/latest Flash version.

    Despite following both Firefox and Flash directions, Firefox won't play videos from YouTube, Hulu, etc. They either never load or they load and freeze within seconds. Before I got the latest versions of Firefox and Flash, I did not have this problem. So there must be a problem in one or both of them. Since I understand from various websites that this is a widespread problem, can Firefox fix this? It's a major flaw in the latest Firefox version.

    '''If you are running Adblock Plus...'''
    While on a YouTube page, right click the ABP icon and "open blockable items".
    When the window opens at the bottom of the page, right click this line: http://s.ytimg.com/yt/swfbin/watch_as3-vfl9DouAr.swf (or some variation) , then "Disable Filter".

    Firefox has suddenly gone wrong. I was successfully running both Firefox and Internet Explorer 8 on Windows 7. My laptop is new and has plenty of RAM and HDD. I auto-accept upgrades including the most recent Firefox upgrade and the suggested upgrade to Adobe Flash 10.1. But after this, Firefox stopped working and does not work when I re-load Firefox 3.6. Also IE8 now works very slowly and does not locate major websites like Microsoft without a 'can't find the website message' and having to pressing Return a second time. When I do get to the Mozilla website and click on the button to try to download Firefox 3.6.6, I get this message "Oops! Internet Explorer could not find mozilla3.snt.utwente.nl". Can you help with what has gone wrong? As it stands, I can't use Firefox at all. Note: because Firefox did not work after the upgrade, I've downloaded the IE8 version of the Adobe Flash 10.1. What I really want is to be able to use both Firefox and IE8. But is this possible if they use different versions of Adobe Flash?

    I have been having the same problem as the original poster. After upgrading to Ffx 3.6.6, the program asks you to upgrade to Flash Player Plugin 10.1. I download and installed 10.1 only to find videos weren't loading.
    In my case, the problem is the previous installation of Flash Player (9.0.47) was somehow messing things up. To fix this, because I already had Flash plugin 10.1 installed I had to uninstall 10.1 using the uninstaller from adobe and then manually remove any files related the old flash player plugin 9.0.47
    Here is a run-down of my process:
    0. To check if you have a previous installation of the Flash Plugin lurking around, in Firefox go to Tools -> Add-ons -> Plugins (tab). At this point you may seen both Flash plugins.
    1. Proceed to uninstall Flash Plugin 10.1. Adobe provides an uninstaller here: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
    ( you have to make sure you have nothing running when you execute the installer).
    2. On my Mac (sorry I don't know what it is in Windows) I searched the hard drive for any files/folders with "Shockwave". I found a folder called "Shockwave 10". It wasn't removed by Adobe's uninstaller. For safety I deleted it and then emptied the trash.
    3. I then went to My HD -> Library -> Internet Plugins.
    Remove the file and folder named "Flash player.old"
    4. Restarted; ran the Adobe Flash Player 10.1 installer. Restarted again.
    5. Opened up ffx and double checked the plugins list (see step 1). Version 10.1 is installed and available. Went to problem sites to test it out and Success!
    Hope this helps.
