Latest Front-End Support pack - Report Designer

Hi,
We are having some formating related issues in Report Designer in some of the Finance reports. I believe this is because of missing latest Support Packs or Patches front end.... for example, in report designer we unable to see the settings in the property window (on left) to display column headings on each page.
We are on front-end pack: BI Add-on 7.10, Support Pack 5, Revision 529.
Back-end: Support Pack 16.
Is this the latest one (for Front-end)?
If not, can you please let me know what is the latest support pack/patches available?

In general, the frontend patches are released at the same time as backend patches...
Therefore,usually
FEP9 is released with SPS9.
FEP10 is released with SPS10.
FEP11 is released with SPS11
FEP16 is released with SPS16

2 Front End Servers with reporting enabled in topology but only one server shows reports

We have 2 Front End Standard pool servers with resiliency enabled between them. The monitoring service is configured in the topology so that both Front End Servers point to the same monitoring database. We have half our users homed on 1 Front
end and half the other users sitting on the other Front End. In the Reports we can only see information on Audio calls made from users that are sitting on our Primary Front End Pool Server however we cannot see call information from users that are sitting
on the other front end server?

We have applied the backend updates and verified the config by running Test-CSDatabases cmd-let . I ran enable-cstopology and ran bootstrapper.exe and rebooted both Front End Servers, however we are still unable to see monitoring data of users
homed on our second Lync Front End server.
Any other suggestions? Thanks for responses so far, appreciate the assistance!

I know where to find the latest patches, but I am looking for the latest complete front end tools installer for SAP GUI 6.40.

I just tried this for you and was able to start the download process..here is the full path for sap gui 7.10 for windows version..
ftp://ftp.sap.com/pub/sapgui/win/710/compilation1/
It doesn't even require email..just right click and then save target as its in a compressed form..

Reporting tool Name - Crystal reports ,
Source - UNV
Older versions like BOXIR2 / BOXIR3 they used JSP to achieve this ,it worked fine ,Now they need to do the migration of older CR to new CR reports 2011 ,
In CR 2008 they achieved this through Business Views (Hard coded the customer names in JSP and called it in the CR 2008 ),
SAP BI4.0 won't support BV ,
Could you please help me in detail , how can i achieve it .

Hi Pradeep,
BI 4.0 still has Business Views and CR 2011/CR 2013 still support them.
CR for Enterprise does not support Business Views though.
Where do you wish to create the functionality? In the Universe or the CR Designer?
If it's the Universe, then is it a .unx or a .unv Universe?
CR 2011/CR 2013 will Not support a .unx Universe; only CR for Enterprise will.
If you're trying to create the prompts at the Universe level, then you've posted the question to the wrong space. You should post to the Semantic layer space.

CD / Download for installing BI 7.0 Front-end components?

Hi,
We have just upgraded a test system from BW 3.1 to BI 7.0.
Our basis team also upgraded my SAP GUI to 640.
This GUI 640 installation also upgraded the Business Explorer components. However, Query Designer & Web Application Designer are now just on Release 3.5. Apparently all the latest patches of 640 have been installed. Is GUI 7.00 available somewhere?
I would like to know where I can get the new BI 7.0 components of Query Designer, WAD & Report Designer. Ideally, I would like to install on my PC the legacy 3.x components as well so that I can maintain the existing BW systems that have not upgraded.

Hi Adrian,
When you run the GUI setup with 640, you get the option for which items you want to install. If you choose the BI items, then the new Analyzer, WAD, Report Designer etc.. get installed. You may have to re-run the installation and choose these components.
Latest Front End Patches are available from <a href="https://websmp204.sap-ag.de/swdc">SAP Software Distribution Centre</a>
On the left menu, go to Download > Support Packages and Patches > Entry by Application Group > SAP Frontend Components > SAP GUI for Windows > SAP GUI for Windows 6.40 > Win32 and download "Bw700SP09_900-10001615.exe".
This is the latest patch (FEP9), so you may want to go FEP802 instead.
If you can't find the GUI CD with installation components, they are also available here (Setup640 and GUI640).

Your 3.x tools will remain on the Start menu after you install the 'new' tools.

Report Designer Key value

Hi,
I'm using Repor Designer but I can use only the text information of the characteristic. Do you know if it's possible to use the key in the Report Designer.
My uesr want always the Key in the report

We had this same problem. This problem happens on all compounded characteristics ... i.e. Fund, Cost Center, etc. The key never came into Report Designer, regardless of the setting in the query.
We had opened an OSS Message about this problem. SAP told us to install the latest Front-End Patches. The highest patch level as of today is 903. This fixed our problem immediately!

Text Variables in Report Designer

We are creating some formatted reports in BI 7.0 using the Report Designer tool. One of the requirements is that when the report is flitered by a certain characteristic, say for e.g. Country = 'DE', the text associated with the country e.g. 'Germany' should be populated in the header of the report. Does anybody know if variable texts are supported in Report Designer ?

SAP_HR Support Pack Problem

Hello,
I am trying to apply the year-end support packs for SAP_HR (SAPKE50023 - SAPKE50026). I get so far with SPAM, but then I get the following error: Error in phase: IMPORT_PROPER, Reason for error: TP_STEP_FAILURE. I applied the latest TP version just in case that was the problem, but it did not solve it. Any ideas?

In SPAM, it says the following:
Error in phase: IMPORT_PROPER
Reason for error: TP_STEP_FAILURE
Return code: 0012
Error message: OCS Package ALL, tp step "N", return code 0012
I looked at the system log, but there was not anything new there. In /usr/sap/trans/log, I looked at my N log, & it basically said CONVERSION OF DD OBJECTS (TBATG) ended in return code 0012. It was not very helpful. I applied TP version 145 (the latest one I found), but that did not help the issue. When I look in STMS, there are no errors in the setup either. Any help you can offer would be much appreciated.

SAP Kernel patch/Support pack Sequence

Hi,
I wanted to know if i need to follow up any order in applying latest kernel patch & Support Pack.
I have installed WAS 6.40 SR1 & want to upgrade to SPS 16. Before applying support pack do i need to apply latest
kernel ?
Is there any side effects for applying latest kernel patch ?

Ramki, as other posts say the kernel update is part of SPS16 & should always be applied. But as to the order... it will most likely come down to business requirements and preference & may change for you from stack to stack.
Be sure to test first in your DEV environment (or similar) & always check the known issues notes which should tell you any patch to kernel dependancies that may dictate what order you have to install things (782140 is the note for WAS6.20, sorry don't have the WAS640 note number handy).
In terms of side effects? In my experience (4.0b - ecc6) the kernel will either work or not work (ie system will or wont start!) If it dosn't work roll back to the previous version (also keep a copy of the exe directory!) & things should all be OK.
Generally we always apply the kernel after the patches where I work (just fits in better with managing downtime on prod systems). However last time we patched the SPAM queue we defined was very large & not compatible with our R3Trans release when using the downtime minimised option (this was stated in the known issues note I mentioned earlier). So the kernel update was done 2-3 weeks before we rolled the patches in, once again just to manage prod system downtime better.

BI 7.0: Report Designer / WAD Front-End Problems

Hi, We are on SAP Netweaver, BI 7.0 SP05, Stack01.
I have installed New SAP Front-End GUI Components,I dont have any problems executing queries in Web or BEx using Business Explorer 3.X.
I'm getting following errors when i try to execute with new version of Business Explorer.
1) Report Designer: Query XML is empty (BICS), please check query and portal setup.
this query works fine in BEx with New version as well.
2)Web Application Designer: "E002: Error while executing service RRXWS_WEBPUB_CALL_SERVICE:V for object 1()".
I couldnt execute simple web template in browser, when i click execute in browser, it open my local windows SAP directory.
Is there any setting or configuration files i should change?
i searched in OSS notes for these kind of errors, but i couldnt not find any
please let me know as its urgent.

Hi,
we're running NW2004s, BI 7.0 SP06.
I'm now testing the new Frontend-Tools and started with the Query Designer. Installed Patch 2, Revision 227. I created an new query and saved it. So far so good. After executing i get this error message:
iView not found: pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/platform_add_ons/com.sap.ip.bi/iViews/com.sap.ip.bi.bex.
Exception id: 11:02_16/02/06_0017_46228450
See the details for the exception ID in the log file
Do I need the integrate an platform_add_on? Does someone get the same errors?

Assumming you are not installing a third party application or just the runtime packages there should be a setup.exe in root folder of the DVD/CD.

Latest SP levels for BI 7.0 and it's Front-end tools such as BEx.

Dear Experts
We are using BI 7.0 connected into SAP ECC 6.0 to implement HCM in BW.
I was told by the Basis that SP hasn't been upgraded ever since the BW system was installed back in year 2008.
They have come back today saying they have upgraded the SPs which I still doubt since the System Status shows me the same Release and SPs that I remember I had seen a couple of days ago.
It is showing as below in System Status:
Component Version: SAP EHP 1 for SAP NetWeaver 7.0
Component Information (after clicking on the lens):

Please let me know what are the latest patches and versions so that I'll ask my Basis to upgrade accordingly. As I could see that the Query Designer and BEx Analyzer are with different revisions, I am doubting if they are different for WAD, Report Designer and Information Broadcasting tools also.
Where should the Basis start upgrading the SPs so that it will spread right across the system?
Any help or directions to right info online is much appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Release BI 7.0 front-end add-on for SAP GUI 7.10, Support Package 700

Hi guys,
In SAP note 1238872 the release of new support package has been mentioned (Quote: "Download the BI 7.0 front-end add-on for SAP GUI 7.10, Support Package 700 from the SAP Service Marketplace.")
So, can someone tell me, when this Support Package will be released?
(At the moment the last version provided in download area is 6.02)

Thanks, but my question was not how can I workaround, cause I was able to read that note. (Unfortunatly the workaround solves the problem for the query designer only and the error still persists when executing the query)
However, can some one please tell me, when the Support Package 7.00 will be released?
