Latest Gen iMac loses gestures, trackpad slow,  and bluetooth not available, anybody else?

Did the upgrade from 10.7.4 to 10.8  and blutooth is "not available".  Yet I can use both bluetooth keyboard and Trackpad... no gestures.  Trackpad not need by OS.

Did you try these steps? They worked for me and a couple other people:
1 - Turn on automatic login: System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General > Click the lock to make changes > If Disable automatic login is checked, uncheck it > Pick your user account and password > Ok.
2 - Shut down your computer.
3 - Turn off your keyboard and mouse: For keyboard and wireless trackpad you hold the power button until the light goes off.
4 - Start your computer.
5 - Once your desktop has fully loaded turn the keyboard and mouse back on, everything should work.

  • Macbook pro camera and bluetooth not available

My 2010 macbook pro's camera and bluetooth has stopped working. Both worked fine before and nothing seems to fix the issue. Ive tried holding the power button, resetting pram and smc, and deleting bluetooth file. Everything that Ive read online has not worked. I scheduled an appointment with apple but the drive is far. Any other suggestions?

I noticed that my bluetooth is not available.
Did you check its settings?  System Preferences/Bluetooth
I have tried to do a SMC reset, but to no avail.
Try zapping your pram - Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
Try the suggestions mentioned in EZJim's Website.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090 How to Troubleshoot iSight
Read the suggestions mentioned in the my isight camera is not working-not recognized with photo booth or ichat thread.
Another suggestion - 1. Click on Macintosh HD on the top right of your desktop (or whatever else you’ve called your Harddrive)
    2. Click through System > Library > LaunchDaemons
    3. Now look for the file com.apple.cmio.VDCAssistant.plist  - and send it to trash.  http://www.appleware.co.uk/2008/12/03/isight-camera-fix.html
If you are still under warranty or have Apple Care, call them and get a case number.  Otherwise, take the computer to an Apple store or an AASP.  Whichever is more convenient for you.  You may have a hardware problem if none of the above suggestions resolves your issue.

  • My iMac from 2007 is slow and sometimes freezes, what can I do? (Software is updated and RAM is maxed at 4GB, CleanMyMax 2 is runed)

Hi, My iMac from 2007 is slow and sometimes freezes, what can I do?
All my Software is updated and RAM is maxed at 4GB. I have used CleanMyMac 2 to clean the iMac.
I also have a problem with Wi-Fi is jumping between On and Looking for Networks

Almost certainly that is your problem, Norton causes more problems than it ever helps. Not only is it unnessary no antivirus app is necessary. Keep your machine up-to-date using Software Update and in most situations that is all you need for security.
You can find Norton's uninstall link at:

  • After upgrading to Yosemite I have lost iPhoto. It has a cross through it in Finder, but I clicked on it and I was directed to download the latest version from the App store, but it is not available in the Australian store. Can anyone help?

After upgrading to Yosemite I have lost iPhoto. It has a cross through it in Finder, but I clicked on it and I was directed to download the latest version from the App store, but it is not available in the Australian store. Can anyone please help? I am not an advanced user and I would like my photos back, having had no idea I would lose iPhoto in the upgrade!

Thanks petermac87...but for some reason, the only purchases showing are OS. So assuming iPhoto is in Mountain Lion, I was hoping to look under Hidden Items there as you suggested, but there is no option for that. Only option is to download Mountain Lion again, not iPhoto specifically. Any ideas welcome!

  • I installed safari 8.0.1 and now my computer is slow and will not open some pages  can i uninstall

I installed safari 8.0.1 and now my mac is really really slow and will not open some pages. Can I uninstall?

Please answer as many of the following questions as you can. You may already have answered some of them. In that case, there's no need to repeat the answers.
Have you restarted your router and your broadband device (if they're separate) since you first noticed the problem? If not, do that now and see whether there's any change.
If your browser is Safari, then from the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
    and confirm. Any change?
If you're running OS X 10.9 or later, select the Advanced tab in the Preferences window and uncheck the box marked
              Stop plug-ins to save power
    Any change?
Quit and relaunch the browser. Any change?
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Enable Private Browsing in the Safari menu. Any change?
Are any other web browsers installed, and are they the same? What about other Internet applications, such as iTunes and the App Store?
If other browsers and Internet applications are also affected, follow these instructions and test. Any change?
If Parental Controls is active for any user, please turn it off and test. Any change?
If only Safari is affected, launch the Activity Monitor application and enter "web" (without the quotes) in the search box. If a process named "Safari Web Content" is shown in red or is using more than about 5% of a CPU, select it and force it to quit by clicking the X or Quit Process button in the toolbar of the window. There may be more than one such process. Any improvement?
Open the iCloud preference pane and uncheck the box marked Photos, if it's checked. Any change?
Are there any other devices on the same network that can browse the Web, and are they affected?
If you can test Safari on another network, is it the same there?
If you connect to your router with Wi-Fi and you can also connect with Ethernet, do that and turn off Wi-Fi. Any difference?

  • Bluetooth Not Available 10.7.2 2011 Intel iMac

    Hi Guys,
I need a little advice whether I have a software issue or Hardware issue with my (May 2011) intel iMac (27")
When I got the new iMac I migrated from old iMac with Snow Leopard and had no bluetooth issues at all.
I upgraded to Lion in July and Bluetooth was OK, 10.7.1 update seemed ok until 2/3 weeks ago, 10.7.2 has had no fix.
    This is the problem:
I have an Apple BT Keyboard, BT Magic Mouse & BT Magic Trackpad connected... all was ok untl 2/3 weeks ago.
Currently on the 'top bar' if I click on the BT icon, it says "Bluetooth: Not Available" ...... The BT icon itself has a 'jagged line' through it.
Bluetooth is not shown under System Preferences.. as if it does not appear on my iMac
Also if I check under 'System Information' and click on Bluetooth it says "No Information Found"
I have reset the PRAM and SMC & Verified and repaired HD several times.... all to no avail.
I have favourited the BT devices to the iMac allowed them to wake iMac etc, but does not offer a fix.
Over the last few days it magically comes back on for a while then cuts dead in the middle of 'work'.
What should my next step be?
Thank you very much in advance for any advice offered.
    PS:
I have checked the Console.App and have a Kernel log file with these 'panics', I admit this log is way beyond me but if anyone understands it, I'd be grateful:

Hi elcroz, were you able to fix the issue eventually? Was it a hardware problem? I'm seeing the same behaviour since yesterday (also on a mid 2011 iMac).
When I woke the iMac from sleep yesterday Bluetooth was "gone" - no connection to mouse and keyboard and the module had disappeared from System Preferences. I rebooted and the Mac booted itself into safe mode. I did a PRAM reset and that instantly solved the issue. But today I saw the exact same thing again, only that the Mac wouldn't even respond to my old USB mouse when I connected it. After a hard shutdown and restart everything seems fine… Bluetooth available and functioning. What the **** is going on here?
I just performed the Apple Hardware test and no problems were found.
I'm seeing some of the same errors in console you pasted, but only one line of each after a restart.
Strangely my keyboard was mentioned in the console logs and my mouse wasn't - so I will keep using a USB keyboard for now to see how it goes.
Anyway, I would really appreciate any advice - let me know how it turned out for you, if you get the chance. I don't want to bring the Mac to an ASP if it's not really necessary, the nearest one is more than an hour away from where I am….
    Cheers

  • Installed iOS7 update and now wifi and Bluetooth not working

My daughters 4s has never skipped a beat - perfectly reliable. Just updated iOS7 with update and now both wifi and Bluetooth not working. Wifi is greyed out and when you go into bluetooth the busy twirly symbol is constantly going round. Can someone please help me as I'm pulling my hair out! My other Daughters iphone 4s is fins BUT she has not downloaded latest update - and she won't until this is resolved. If needs be I will take to store and DEMAND for it to be sorted out - either by repair or replacement as it is wholly a seemingly software issue and nothing wrong with the phone.
Gutted really as I am a huge Apple fan and customer with ipods, phones, iMac & iPads all around. If this is not resolved I fear an Apple drought may begin!

..... ty for the link, however this is the first result googling the issue..... of course it did not work....
it is really unbelivable that plenty 4s devices suffered the wifi troubleshooting just after upgrading to ios7, and finally.... i should burn wifi and bluthoot, and another hardware problems should cause % battery value is disappeared....
    all this in one shot....
firmaware is not well working or is somebody bombing our devices to force us to switch to newest?

  • Slow boot up (stays on white screen for 5-10mins)/bluetooth not available. Help please!

For some reason my iMac boots up really slow and says bluetooth not available which has resulted in me using usb keyboard and mouse. Anyone know how i can fix this?

Disable the Lion resume feature ...
    Open System Preferences > General
Deselect:  Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps
Remove any items listed in:  System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Items
Same for   HD > Library > StartupItems
Not enough free space on the startup disk can slow startup time.
Click the Apple menu icon top left corner of your Desktop. From the drop down menu click About This Mac > More Info > Storage
Never all free space to fall below 15%.
As for Bluetooth.  Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here:    /Library/Preferences
    Click Go
Move the  com.apple.Bluetooth.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Trash.
    Restart your Mac.

If you are selling or giving away the computer then follow these instructions:
Follow these instructions step by step to prepare a Mac for sale:
Step One - Back up your data:
           A. If you have any Virtual PCs shut them down. They cannot be in their "fast saved" state. They must
be shut down from inside Windows.
           B. Clone to an external drive using using Carbon Copy Cloner.
              1. Open Carbon Copy Cloner.
              2. Select the Source volume from the Select a source drop down menu on the left side.
              3. Select the Destination volume from the Select a destination drop down menu on the right side.
              4. Click on the Clone button. If you are prompted about creating a clone of the Recovery HD be sure
                  to opt for that.
Destination means a freshly erased external backup drive. Source means the internal startup drive.
Step Two - Prepare the machine for the new buyer:
              1. De-authorize the computer in iTunes! De-authorize both iTunes and Audible accounts.
2, Remove any Open Firmware passwords or Firmware passwords.
              3. Turn the brightness full up and volume nearly so.
              4. Turn off File Vault, if enabled.
              5. Disable iCloud, if enabled: See What to do with iCloud before selling your computer.
Step Three - Install a fresh OS:
         A. Snow Leopard and earlier versions of OS X
              1. Insert the original OS X install CD/DVD that came with your computer.
              2. Restart the computer while holding down the C key to boot from the CD/DVD.
              3. Select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu; repartition and reformat the internal hard drive.
Optionally, click on the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass.
              4. Install OS X.
              5. Upon completion DO NOT restart the computer.
              6. Shutdown the computer.
         B. Lion and Mountain Lion (if pre-installed on the computer at purchase*)
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
              1. Restart the computer while holding down the COMMAND and R keys until the Mac OS X
                  Utilities window appears.
              2. Select Disk Utility from the Mac OS X Utilities window and click on the Continue button.
              3. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the left side list.
Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
              4. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on the Security button
and set the Zero Data option to one-pass.
              5. Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
              6. Quit DU and return to the Mac OS X Utilities window.
              7. Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button.
              8. Upon completion shutdown the computer.
*If your computer came with Lion or Mountain Lion pre-installed then you are entitled to transfer your license once. If you purchased Lion or Mountain Lion from the App Store then you cannot transfer your license to another party. In the case of the latter you should install the original version of OS X that came with your computer. You need to repartition the hard drive as well as reformat it; this will assure that the Recovery HD partition is removed. See Step Three above. You may verify these requirements by reviewing your OS X Software License.
