Latest iTunes & Artist Selection Window for Shuffle

Hi,
I've got the bizarre case of my artist window on the Shuffle / Music tab not showing all of my artists, some of them are just missing completely from the window.
The files are in the library and I've moved it from external disk to external disk to tidy it up, but still they're missing. I can locate the artists in the Library and play the songs, so I'm totally confused as to why I can't select the artist on the music tab.
Any suggestions / thoughts?

This works for a music album, but not for films.... How can I create CD and track numbers if I want to put films together to an album? The info window for films does not show that fields any more, does it?!?

Perhaps let's first try updating your Apple Software Update.
Launch Apple Software Update ("Start > All Programs > Apple Software Update"). Does it launch and offer you a newer version of Apple Software Update? If so, choose to install just that update to Apple Software Update. (Deselect any other software offered at the same time.)
If the ASU update goes through okay, try another iTunes install. Does it go through without the errors this time?

Now, iTunes won't launch and can't be updated. Please help.
If I have lost my music collection I will be switching platforms ASAP. It is insane that Apple has updates seemingly every day for their products.

I was in your same situation with 14 downloads and 14 attempts.
You have to make sure that your Mac is booting into 64 bit mode.  You can make sure of this by going into System Preferences and scrolling down to 'Software' and making sure that you are booding with 64 bit Kexts.
If not, restart while holding the 6 and 4 keys down until you see the spinning gear wheel and try installng again.
BUT, what I also did was to go into Applications, click on the Lion installer, Get Info, and give yourself custom priviliges to Read And Write.
I did this simultaneously, and I don't know what function did it, but it worked for me, with no further downloads of the installer.
    Good luck!

  • I can't download the latest itunes (I need to for my phone) because it says I need an updated OS version, but my computer says everything is up to date. Help?

I can't download the latest itunes (I need to for my phone) because it says I need an updated OS version, but my computer says everything is up to date. Any help?

First you need to install Mac OS 10.6. To do this you have to buy the OS disk. (This is a whole different OS, not an update of 10.5.) Order it here:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
You may be able to install an even newer OS, but you have to get 10.6 first.
Please look at Apple Menu / About This Mac / More Info... and check under Hardware Overview for the Model Identifier of your Macbook. That will tell us whaat is the highest OS you can install.

  • Latest iTunes 10.1.1 for Windows 64-bit NOT recognizing iPhone 4...***?!

    Hey All,
My iPhone 4 is not being recognized by my brand new PC laptop - Dell Studio 1558 with Windows 7 (64-bit).
Each time I attempt to synch the iPhone 4 with the PC, I get the same error message below:
"This iPhone cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install the 64-bit version of iTunes."
I've installed and uninstalled and installed and unistalled latest iTunes 10 (64 bit version) and keep getting this error message above.
Surely this can't be an overall iTunes 10 glitch with the iPhone 4?!?! When does next version come out? Apple staff has been unable to help me so I thank anyone in advance who has a solution for this. Happy New Year =)

I've also got a similar problem. I upgraded yesterday & today I find (mainly with previously purchased tracks) that iTunes only playes about 51sec of a track. The whole track plays when using "Quicktime" but this doesn't help me when I'm trying to put together a playlist.
    Can anyone out the help?

  • Playlists don't appear in iTunes Playlist selection window when synching

I just updated to iTunes 9.0 (big mistake) and discovered that many of my playlists do not appear in the playlist selection window when I synch my iPod nano 2.0. Even playlists that I created after upgrading to 9.0 don't appear. I have more playlists than I can load onto my iPod, so I need to be able to select which playlists to synch. Since many don't even appear in the selection window, I can't put them on my iPod. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
BTW, I have already gone through the Five R's, which did nothing to help.

Personally I use Subler to tag all these shows and then send them to Itunes. In subler you have the option of setting the Media Type and also the HD option of 720 or 1080p if applicable. Save it then use the file, Send to itunes and they show up in the right place.

  • Does iTunes U Support Windows (for Real)?

    iTunes U Mavens,
    Would you help?
    Clarification is requested.
Last week, I was extolling the benefits of trying iTunes U to a Department Chair.
The Chair replied that they'd looked at iTunes U several months ago...and decided not to use it because it is "...only for the Apple iPad", and "...we can't exclude students who use Windows, Androids, etc."
So...many Google searches later...it seems like there was a point-in-time when iTunes U was iPad-specific--but that is no longer the case?
Candidly, after reading several iTunes U items on Apple's website...I'm confused. A few Apple artifacts seem to refer to an iPad-only technology platform while other Apple items suggest cross-platform.
Does...or does not...iTunes U support Windows? Android? Etc.
If there was an historical iPad-only context...(circa) when was that restriction relaxed? Changed?
While it seems to me iTunes U works with Windows...yet there's conflicting information. When going back to the Dept Chair...I'd like to take up-to-date, authoritative information from Apple on this mater.
Would you be so kind as to point me in a productive direction to obtain an Apple-authoritative communique on this point?
    Many thanks!
    Plane Wryter

The new iTunes U App and iTunes U Courses format are specifically designed to take advantage of iOS devices (iPad, iPhone, iPod touch) to teach a FULL course utilizing those mobile devices. The platform allows for the easy integration of digital books, Apps, and other materials from the iTunes Store and the web into courses. While public courses are available on desktop computers (both Mac and PC) the whole iTunes U Course experience is best on iOS Devices.  You can read about the features of iTunes U Courses at www.itunesu.com.
Previously, content on iTunes U was essentially podcast feeds. This format is still available and is known as iTunes U Collections. But, being that they are simply RSS feeds, they only support the delivery of audio, video, and PDF files.

  • I have the latest itunes version on windows 8.1 and it's stuck on stage 2 of 8

Hi.  I have latest version of itunes and have uninstalled and reinstalled twice but it keeps getting stuck at stage 2 of back up.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
You need to use the 64-bit installer for 64-bit Windows, but the main iTunes application is 32-bit.

  • I tried to install the latest itunes on my Windows 8 computer and it is not responding. Nothing happens.

I got an HP computer with Windows 8 already loaded on it. I have tried unsuccessfully for months to put itunes on this computer. I try and then give up. All I am able to get is a non-responsive program. Just a white screen with a blue spinning circle. I have tried several suggestions - run in administrator mode, try changing the compatibility, but am lost and frustrated. I am not very technologically savvy, so please help!

Hold down Shift–Control while opening iTunes. You should see a dialog that says "iTunes is running in safe mode" before iTunes finishes starting up.
    Click Continue.
See if the issue you're experiencing persists in Safe Mode.
