Latest Mac and OKI printer - unable to select MP tray

Hello - I have a 2013 Mac running OS X 10.9.1 and I'm hard wired to an OKI printer model C531dn. I'm trying to print 10x15cm photo cards using the multi purpose tray but cannot find the paper source settings anywhere on the Mac. Really appreciate your help as my 12 year old needs her party invites pronto! Cheers

from pg 27:
get to the Print Dialog box (this is for 10.4 tiger, but same idea)
should be under Paper source
dialog box should look something like this

you might have to try to print something, then change the options. MIght not be changeable from Print/Fax Options in System Preferences

In System Preferences>Fax & Print, Right click or Control+click on the Printers list Sidebar, choose Reset Printing System.
if you hold option and click the "-" tab it resets the printing system.

Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions.

Have you downloaded the approriate Snow Leopard drivers for that printer? Make sure you get the appropriate and latest MP Navigator, as you start scans from the computer, not the all-in-one. Get them from http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_mp_s eries/pixma_mp830#DriversAndSoftware

I have the same problem. In your mail settings are the "Accounts" options also faded? My twitter option is also faded as well and I have no idea whats going on (iPhone 4). I seemed to have set up iCloud through some of my apps but I can't manage them at all in settings. My mail is also working fine but I can't log off of any of them.

Follow the steps below to properly configure your paper trays.
1. Touch (right arrow), touch Setup, touch Preferences, and then select Default Tray
2. Select Tray 2 as the Default tray
3. Open Printers and Faxes
4. Right click on printer, and then select Printer Properties
5. Click on Device Settings tab
6. On this screen set the media type you have assigned to each tray (Example: tray 1 - Envelopes & Tray 2 - Letter)
7. Click Apply, and then Ok
8. When you have an envelope you are printing it will pull from Tray 1
9. When you have a letter you are printing it will pull from Tray 2

Mac and Photosmart printer not communicating

At one time my Mac laptop (OS X 10.7) and printer (HP C410a all-in-one) communicated with one another for wireless printing. Then one day it stopped! I believe there was a software update to one or the other prior to this happening, but I don't remember. I've uninstalled, and re-installed the printer software and drivers several times. Through my laptop I can get the printer to print a test page through the embedded link to the internet connection. But, I cannot send projects to the printer to print. I get error messages that there is no connection. When I have tried to reboot and redo the printer set-up I get a message that 192.168.0.3 (the printer IP address) is either no longer available or not recognized by the computer. I have been dealing with this problem for almost a year. Is there a fix for this issue?

I understand the Mac isn't communicating with the printer.
I will be happy to help you.
Since you have a valid IP address on the printer and you can access the Embedded Web Server for the printer I would try and add the printer as a IP Protocal to see if it will work.
Go to the Apple, system preferences, print and scan, (some systems print and fax) click + button, then select the IP icon across the top, type in the printer's IP address, select jet direct below and then apply.
Try and print now.

Macs And A Print server WGPS606 How To Configure

Hi there, having a spot of bother, lol
I have a pc laptop and 2 mac laptops.
set the print server up with pc laptop, and it works a treat, no problems! thou i did connect 1printer and its in port 2, but following the instructions on the web i changed everything where necessary and pc lappy works a treat.
Now the macs.
1stly i installed the printer to work with a usb lead and it works on them both fine.
Then
I followed the instructions available from http://kbserver.netgear.com/kbwebfiles/N101570.asp
and when i get to select the printer type and model, the one i'm wanting to setup isnt listed, even thou its installed, and when you use the autodetect it comes up with a generic somet or other that doesnt work.
How do i get my printer listed or where do i find the file containing the driver info?
Ive seen a few of these problems crop up, but never the answers,
any help would be greatly apreciated!

I don't think you can trace the printer's log from the Windows print server but you can setup Windows Audit Policy to see who printed the document when.
You can also check on the printer's log on the printer's web interface ( most of the network printer have this feature) to see the complete logs.

I'm on a mac and my printer won't print

I'm on a mac and it sends the document to my printer (Hp Photosmart 4680 all in one) but the printer won't print. My printer has been working just fine and now it won't print. Am I doing something wrong. This happened once before and I got frustrated with and left it for about 2 days, I had tried everything I could think of, unplugging for an hour or more, uninstalling and reinstalling, checked ink levels they were fine. Then all of a sudden it started to work again. I just turned on my computer and printer and amazingly it just started to print. Has anyone else had this problem? If so what did you do? Or does anyone have any suggestions of what I may be doing wrong!

Do you have HP software installed (in your Applications folder)? If so and you got it from the printer CD, let's get rid of it:
Go to Applications/Hewlett Packard/ click on HP Uninstaller
Click on Continue
Highlight your device on the left pane
Hold the Ctrl, Opt and Cmd keys and click on Uninstall
There will be a pop up that asks if you are sure you want to uninstall ALL hp software. (At this point, if you continue, any HP printers you have installed will need to be reinstalled)
Click Continue and let it finish
Now, run a Software Update.
Next, remove and re-install the printer in System Preferences, Print & Fax.
You do not need the software now since Snow Leopard has both print & scan drivers built-in. Scan from Preview or Image Capture apps. Scanning from the front panel of the printer does not yet work.

There's nothing to be concerned with, here - at least as far a a printer fault is concerned.
The difference lies in the driver and the color matching algorithm used. There's an intrinsic difference between the image you see projected from a monitor (emitted light from a series of colored LEDs) and the 'same' image printed on paper (light reflected off different color dots on the paper). The image on screen will also vary depending on your screen brightness and contrast settings.
In addition, your monitor uses Red, Green and Blue LEDs wheras your printer probably uses Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black inks. It's the driver that's responsible for translating the RGB image you see on your monitor to the CMYK proportions for the ink.
There are also numerous variations between ambient light sources (the same page will look different in sunligh vs. incandescent vs flourescent light), as well as the paper its printed on.
To cut a long story short, there are a myriad of variables that go into translating the screen image to the printed page and what you're finding is differences in the default values for the Mac and Windows drivers. I won't try to suggest which one is 'better' since that's subjective... is the more saturated image closer to the original? or just brighter. What you will find, though, is there are options to tweak the settings in the driver to your own preferences - just look at the 'Color Matching' options in the Print dialog next time you print on your Mac (I'm sure Windows has some equivalent)

Mac and Wireless printing

FIrst Time User - I have 2 other computers (both Macs) that have no issues with my Wireless 6500 HP Printer. My third Mac laptop is having issues connecting. The OS version is 10.5.8 and every time I attempt to print is states that the printer is busy.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
I have reinstalled the software but it still fails...

Let's reset the printing system:
- Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
- Right (control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
- Select the plus sign to re-add it. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.

Mac Pro GeForce GT120 Unable to select 1680 x 1050 resolution

Hi all - I've got a brand new Mac Pro with current OS on it. It has a Geforce GT120 video card, and I've hooked up an NEC 203wxm monitor using a Mini Display Port to VGA adaptor. Now, I can't select the native resolution of the display (1680 x 1050) in display preferences. Any thoughts?

3rd party monitors (Dell incl) have been a bear to get working with MDP, and the $29 (did it drop now to $19?) has been less than satisfactory while the $99 (supports dual link) has been better it is almost as much as a 2nd GT120. And that resolution is well within what 20-23" would use, nothing like 30" dual display link support.
Same for ATI 4870. MDP is being added and adopted on ATI's 5000 cards so have to see. The GTX 285 w/ 2 x DVI ports looked better when you get into DVI and 3rd party displays.
Firmware update huh? hope that works, though I'd think a new model of the MDP adapter would be in order (free exchange type).

I have the same issues... It also occures with my emails. This all started 2 days ago. Another thing I noted was that when tring to "copy" something from a message, it will show you the "copy" option but when you click it, it crashes the messaging application... I called Verizon support and they couldnt understand what I was talking about.

I have accidentally downloaded the Mackeeper to my I mac and am now unable to get rid ofit. I have tried dragging it to the waste bin but it wont play ball any ideas?
