Latest mail security problems

There we were thinking that the switch to Critical Path would solve the security problems of BT Yahoo mail.  It appears not:

The Backup likely would only help if it were a full Backup of the OS.

I recently upgraded both Pages 09 (I believe) and went to OSX 10.9 Maverick .... now I am unable to send a pages document to a friend on gmail.  Google rejects the message and attachment with the following explanation -
    The reason for the problem:
5.3.0 - Other mail system problem 552-'5.7.0 This message was blocked because its content presents a potential\n5.7.0 security issue.

    Same Problem here
IWORKS 09    pages, keynote, numbers does not send in MAIL (mac) because of "This message was blocked because its content presents a potentialsecurity issue"
its a problem not only on GMAIL but also Live, Hotmail, Yahoo, and other services...
The problem is that gmail and others haved yet accepted the latest iworks 09 files. its a problem that apple can ask then to fix but its up to the gmail and others to fix it.
    Solution!!!:
1 - Send it by exporting to office files
2 - Saving the files as old iwork documents
3 - Command P and save as PDF
4 - Save in icloud and send the URL
So you can still send them but have to take a bit more of your time

  • Mail Connection Problems after latest Maverick Update

My macbook pro contains the latest OS Maverick update (12/17/2013) and I am still having mail connection problems.
Several times an hour the mail app is dropping the mail connection on all my accounts. I have to sign in to all my connections each time the connection drops. Does anyone think of a solution to this problem? Anyone else still having this problem with Maverick Mail connections?
    Thanks

Same problem here. For a couple of weeks, I've had an error message that my accounts can't log in. I've gone thru the account prefs and made sure all settings are correct and set to Apple's suggested settings. Also getting double messages sometimes. Not all messages, but one or two will be doubled. This happens on my iPhone and Mac's. If I scroll the window the double message disappears.
Also had lots of errors that mail can;t be deleted. I go back and delete the message again and it goes away.
I kinda feel like this is Mavericks related since these issues were not happening under ML.

  • IRONPORT e-mail security, encrypted e-mails problem

    Hi there,
we have recently purchased CISCO Ironport E-mail and web security devices.
I have configured e-mail security, and I want to encrypt an outgoing e-mail. When I send that e-mail I receive a reply:
#< #5.0.0 smtp; 5.x.3 - PXE Encryption failure. (Message could not be encrypted due to a system configuration issue. Please contact your administrator.) (delivery attempts: 0)> #SMTP#
I checked internet but couldn't find anything useful. Can someone point me in a good direction please? I don't know where to look now.
    Regards,

Do you have a valid CRES account created for your company/domain, and the appliance SN tied to that CRES account?
    If not -
In order to provision encryption profile(s), please initiate an email request to [email protected] with the following information:
    1. Name of account: [Please specify the exact company name, as you require this to be listed.]
*If this is for a Hosted customer account, please notate the account name to end as ["<Account Name> HOSTED"]
    2. Email address(es) to be used for the Account Admin: [Please specify the corresponding admin email address]
    3. The complete serial number of ESA appliance(s): [ANY/ALL SERIAL NUMBER(s)]
    4. Any/all domains for the customer account that should be mapped to the CRES account for administration purposes.
*If there is an already provisioned CRES account, please provide the company name or CRES account number previously used. This will assure that any new appliance serial numbers are added to the correct account, and avoid any duplication of company information and provisioning.
Appliance serial numbers can be located from the GUI 'System Administration -> Feature Keys', or appliance CLI by running the command 'version'.
Requests sent to [email protected] will be handled within normal business hours. A confirmation email will be sent once the serial numbers are registered or new CRES account provisioning is completed.
Once completed - from the GUI, revisit 'Security Services -> Cisco IronPort Email Encryption -> Email Encryption Profiles', and re-click "Re-provision". This will then complete as "Provisioned".
Also - have you stepped through the following?

  • Bug in Latest Mavericks Security Update???

I just installed the very latest Mavericks Security Update as instructed. It was about 500+ MB and took 20 or so minutes to upload and then required a restart to complete installation, which was done. After restart you are asked if you wanted to login to iCloud, etc. the MacBook worked just fine. I shut down normally.
Several hours later upon boot up I first got a "security" warning about only using Apple software. It asks for acknowledgement = ok.
After rebooting the Apple logo shows as normal and the circular progress wheel spins but it never gets to login screen.
    What is going on Apple???
    Any suggestion fellow Mac users????

Take each of these steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
The first step in dealing with a startup failure is to secure the data. If you want to preserve the contents of the startup drive, and you don't already have at least one current backup, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care about the data that has changed since the last backup, you can skip this step.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to start. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
         a. Start up from the Recovery partition, or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) When the OS X Utilities screen appears, launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.”
    b. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, start the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
    c. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.
    Step 2
If the startup process stops at a blank gray screen with no Apple logo or spinning "daisy wheel," then the startup volume may be full. If you had previously seen warnings of low disk space, this is almost certainly the case. You might be able to start up in safe mode even though you can't start up normally. Otherwise, start up from an external drive, or else use either of the techniques in Steps 1b and 1c to mount the internal drive and delete some files. According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation.
    Step 3
Sometimes a startup failure can be resolved by resetting the NVRAM.
    Step 4
If you use a wireless keyboard, trackpad, or mouse, replace or recharge the batteries. The battery level shown in the Bluetooth menu item may not be accurate.
    Step 5
If there's a built-in optical drive, a disc may be stuck in it. Follow these instructions to eject it.
    Step 6
Press and hold the power button until the power shuts off. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed to start up, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Use a different keyboard and/or mouse, if those devices are wired. If you can start up now, one of the devices you disconnected, or a combination of them, is causing the problem. Finding out which one is a process of elimination.
    Step 7
If you've started from an external storage device, make sure that the internal startup volume is selected in the Startup Disk pane of System Preferences.
Start up in safe mode. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know the login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
When you start up in safe mode, it's normal to see a dark gray progress bar on a light gray background. If the progress bar gets stuck for more than a few minutes, or if the system shuts down automatically while the progress bar is displayed, the startup volume is corrupt and the drive is probably malfunctioning. In that case, go to Step 10. If you ever have another problem with the drive, replace it immediately.
If you can start and log in in safe mode, empty the Trash, and then open the Finder Info window on the startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) Check that you have at least 9 GB of available space, as shown in the window. If you don't, copy as many files as necessary to another volume (not another folder on the same volume) and delete the originals. Deletion isn't complete until you empty the Trash again. Do this until the available space is more than 9 GB. Then restart as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)
If the startup process hangs again, the problem is likely caused by a third-party system modification that you installed. Post for further instructions.
    Step 8
Launch Disk Utility in Recovery mode (see Step 1.) Select the startup volume, then run Repair Disk. If any problems are found, repeat until clear. If Disk Utility reports that the volume can't be repaired, the drive has malfunctioned and should be replaced. You might choose to tolerate one such malfunction in the life of the drive. In that case, erase the volume and restore from a backup. If the same thing ever happens again, replace the drive immediately.
This is one of the rare situations in which you should also run Repair Permissions, ignoring the false warnings it may produce. Look for the line "Permissions repair complete" at the end of the output. Then restart as usual.
    Step 9
Reinstall the OS. If the Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade.
    Step 10
Do as in Step 9, but this time erase the startup volume in Disk Utility before installing. The system should automatically restart into the Setup Assistant. Follow the prompts to transfer the data from a Time Machine or other backup.
    Step 11
This step applies only to models that have a logic-board ("PRAM") battery: all Mac Pro's and some others (not current models.) Both desktop and portable Macs used to have such a battery. The logic-board battery, if there is one, is separate from the main battery of a portable. A dead logic-board battery can cause a startup failure. Typically the failure will be preceded by loss of the settings for the startup disk and system clock. See the user manual for replacement instructions. You may have to take the machine to a service provider to have the battery replaced.
    Step 12
If you get this far, you're probably dealing with a hardware fault. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.

  • Debugging JNLP security problems

As we all know, the latest Java update changed the JNLP security around a bit, and I, like many others, am having trouble with it.
I'm not really here to ask for help with my specific problem, however. It's not the first time I've had trouble with JNLP security, and almost every time, I've only gotten around it with the help of mere guess-work and a fair bit of luck, and I'm still far from sure I've actually solved the problems correctly. The main problem I experience is that the security messages I get from the JNLP client are oriented towards end-users and thus not very helpful at all for tracking down the root cause of the issues. For instance, after this latest update, the JNLP client is just telling me that "The Java security settings have prevented this application from running. You may change this behavior in the Java Control Panel."
Is there any good way to find out what security problems it is that I'm actually having? "Read the documentation" is of course the easy answer, but the security model seems rather complex and incorporates many parts. Is there some kind of "lint" tool for JNLP out there that can list the problems I'm having? Or is there some way to run the JNLP client in some kind of debug mode?

Understood guys. But let me make a few points.
    1. Clearly I'm not the only one who had this problem. In fact, I wasn't the first person in this THREAD to have the problem.
    2. I'm fairly computer savvy, and have worked with Photoshop for several years.
    3. Yes, it does say c: in point 3, but I find it odd that in point 4 it does say Program Files/.... A very strange way to write it. Also, the c: drive is the default installation drive, so it's not idiocy for someone to assume that the file would be located on the same drive as you selected for installation.
    4. This is not about technically right or wrong. I never said that the instructions were wrong. I merely was trying to make a suggestion that would help people avoid the same trap I fell into. Was it my mistake? Yes. Would my clarifying suggestion perhaps help others avoid making the mistake I did. I would hope so. Also, as someone else suggested in this thread, Adobe SHOULD have written an installation program for the ACR 3.1 upgrade that did the placing automatically. After all, EVERYONE knew that ACR3.1 would be released shortly after the release for CS2...in fact Mr. Knoll himself was quoted in other forums about when D2X compatibility would actually happen.
    5. The purpose of these forums is to be helpful to other users--not to be patronizing or rude. I'm a big Photoshop fan, and a loyal customer. I'm also in the service industry, and I would bet that customer service experts would raise an eyebrow or two about the tone contained in certain messages in this thread, including from an Adobe employee.
Just my two cents. Flame away if you must. But you might want to take a look at what I actually suggested in my last message before lighting up the torch.

    Hi,
I am trying to understand how WLS 7.0 secures a call to an MBean. Got
    the following
    scenario:
    - I am in a servlet context
    - I have created and registered an MBean with the WLS MBeanServer. Fine
    so far
    - Within the same call I can retrieve the MBean attributes. Fine so far
    - I keep the MBeanServer reference in an object global to the servlet
    context
    The problem:
    - When I do another request and try to use the cached MBeanServer
    instance to
access the MBean, I get the following error:
    weblogic.management.NoAccessRuntimeException: Access not allowed for
    subject:
    principals=[], on ResourceType ...
    Any idea?

AlainWhat ResourceType are you trying to access. From the Exception you're
trying to access it as an Anonymous user (principals=[]) and evidently
you're attempting to access something that is protected. I can't tell
    what
    from the snippet you've included.

    Thanks Paul for your reply.
You are right. I can access my custom MBeans if I am authenticated for example
as an Administrator. My problem is that I want any application to access this
MBean authenticated or not. I am trying to find how I could grant permission to
this MBean to everyone. Still searching.
    Thanks.

  • Viewing HTML e-mail and problems with  = (equal sign)

    Good day,
I am having problems with apple mail rendinering html e-mail messages. There are extra = in the message body. The = appears to be line continuation character in the HTML. I have no problems viewing the message in Thunderbird or Entorage, but Mac Mail is a problem. The = appears to be displayed as a literal rather than part of the html reconstruction. Any thoughts as how to resolve this issue?

Looks like there is a common theme there. It is probably just that the original message has been corrupted somehow. Some mail clients try harder to understand corrupted data than others. I can't really tell from your original post. With mail messages, you really need to have the original data, not copied and pasted and not forwarded. If you have such a mail message, save it as raw source, put it into a zip file, and e-mail it to me. I can tell if it is an Apple Mail problem or a MS problem. If it is an Apple problem, I can file a detailed bug report on it. You can find an e-mail address for me by Googling my nickname.

Please Help. I received 4 emails from 1 person with the same message heading. The emails were automatically grouped Apple Mail. I replied to the latest mail in the conversation. Once sent the other messages in the conversation disappeared. I NEED THEM BACK! They all had very important attachments. I have tried looking for them in deleted items, even though I didn't throw any of them away, still cant find them. Never had this problem before. I'm pretty sure its a setting somewhere. Also tried expanding all conversations, no luck. Searching for the mails under the sent email address, no luck.
I'm sure they are not deleted but have somehow been hidden by Mail. Very frustrating.
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Kash.

I have found found out what has happened. I had requested a statement dating back to April 2012 from a supplier. They replied back with the latest statementof 2013 only but used the same subject heading as the previous monthly statements. Apple Mail automatically grouped these and I thought that they were sent altogether. As soon as I replied to the last email all other the previous emails ungrouped from the conversation leaving me lost as to where they had gone. They were all still sitting in my inbox but no longer part of the trcked conversation. I searched under the subject heading and all individual mails were all still there. (feeling stupid - )

  • Spam Protection for Email showing Critical for Exchange Server 2007 after installing Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange

    Hi there,
I have SBS 2008, and I have recently installed Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange  version 7.5 but when I take a look on Windows SBS Console under Security, it shows "Spam Protection for Email Critical Exchange Server 2007" However,
when I open the SMSME it shows running well with no problem..
    Any Suggestions???
    Thanks

    Hi,
Would you please let me confirm whether all functions (which are related to Exchange Server) run as normal? Just
a confirmation, thanks for your understanding.
    Please run
SBS BPA and check if find relevant issues. In addition, please refer to GaryD9’s suggestion in following thread and check if can help you.

If any update, please feel free to let me know.
    Hope this helps.

  • Does Cisco Cloud E-mail Security Solution Support IPv6?

For the Cisco Cloud E-mail Security Solution - does it support both inbound and outbound IPv6?  Are there any limitations?  I know the IronPort E-mail Security Appliances supports IPv6 - but specifically interested in the cloud service.

    Hi.
Does anyone could explain me about SSL/TLS?
    Here is the situation:
E72 allows in securîty settings to select SSL/TLS. I selected it for both accessing and sending mails and I can logon to my POP and send with SMTP.  So apparently no problem.
But I asked my internet provider if they support SSL/TLS and they told me no they does not support it....so my question is does really SSL/TLS works in my situation and my provider has no clue on security settings or SSL/TLS does not work but it has no incidence on using my mails as I said I can receive mails and send mails even if those security settings are selected...?
Thanks if anyone could explain me this.
Some e-mail providers like Gmail use SSL/TLS.

  • Opening and closing a frame from an applet security problem

can I open a frame or a window from an applet and close the frame by using
System.exit(0) for the frame or will it throw a security problem.

I am using system.exit(0) to exit the JVM.
    dispose()
Releases all of the native screen resources used by this Window, its subcomponents, and all of its owned children. That is, the resources for these Components will be destroyed, any memory they consume will be returned to the OS, and they will be marked as undisplayable.
If this frame have to be close and open again don't use dispose.
there is no check whether a frame is active? what you can do is set the the new frame to null (frame = null) and also when you dispose it, this will let you know if the frame is active or not.

  • I downloaded the latest Firefox security update and my computer will no longer access the internet in any fashion, despite the fact that I'm still connected to the internet. Other browsers no longer work either.

Immediately after I downloaded the latest firefox security update my computer will no longer access the internet. I still have a fine wireless connection but Firefox, Internet Explorer, Itunes, and every other program will no longer access the internet, saying there is a connection error. I even tried restoring my system to a previous date but it said that a security program was preventing it from doing so.

What's the security program called? Is it '''Win 7 Security''' by any chance? There's a rogue AV app that will prevent internet access by that name. It comes in many different flavours, but it's basically the same product with different names depending on the operating system its aimed at. See screenshot.
Do you have another computer you can use to download Malwarebytes? Or can you get a friend to download it for you and copy it to a USB drive? Download from here: http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free
You can use the USB drive to transfer the program to your own PC and then install it.
