Latest mbp are macbookpro8,4 or ...

hi,
what are the latest mbpros, 8,4 or 9,1 ?  (for example: macbookpro8,4)
thanks for exact info.

Apple doesn't include the Model Identifier numbers in its tech specs for the new MBPs, so you'll need to wait for a reply from someone who has the particular model you're interested in. Which model is that? (13", 15" or 17" and processor speed; the different sizes are unlikely to have the same numbers).

  • SSD Manufacturer in the latest MBP

    Hi all,
Just wondering who the manufacturer behind the SSDs (256GB, 512GB) in the latest MBPs is. I want to check the read/write speed/decay benchmarks before I make a decision.
    Thanks,
    OA

Thanks! Interesting the SSD is Apple branded.
It's not. The TS stands for Toshiba. (APPLE SSD TS512B ) According to Barefeats, they believe they are Toshiba drives.

  • Problems with pdf in illustrator, my latest changes are gone!

I have an illustrator file with layers and I saved it as a pdf and now when I open it in illustrator, all my latest changes are gone! BUT its fine when I open the same file in acrobat!
    Help, what to do?

    Maria,
You may have only saved the latest changes as PDF.
But if you have saved with Preserve Illustrator Editing Capabilities, you may get it all back by opening the PDF.
Otherwise, you will have to make whichever use is possible of the PDF.
A safe(r) way is to Save a Copy as PDF, and to save as AI frequently.

  • Display too dim for the latest MBP 13" retina

Bought the latest mbp 13" retina yesterday and I found the display is too dim even I change the brightness to the brightest,
it's more obvious when I compare it with my late 2010 mba as it looks more bright on the mba even its not on full brightness,
any other way that I could tune for a more brighter display for my mbp?
    Cheers.

  • TC oldest and latest backups are same date--won't backup current date

My oldest and latest backups are the same date (21DEC10) --when I enter TC--the only backup I have is for 21DEC--help!

UPDATE: After quite a few attempts, I concluded there is an issue in SL with TM backups to a password protected Airport Disk, so I reverted to using the Airport password.
What was odd during all of this is that when I was using a disk password, I could mount the disk (and the sparse images) from both my iMac and my UMBP, and TM would work from the UMBP but not the iMac. This was despite my deleting the TM plist, restarting, disconnecting the disk from the Airport extreme.
When I reverted back to using the Airport password, I did it from the iMac. TM then worked fine from there, but not the UMBP. It took a combination of restarts, selecting None as the TM disk, and I don't remember what else to get the UMBP backing up again.
So, in my case at least, the Mac that changed the PW type worked fine, the other one either never worked or required hoops to work. Other than that, kind of lost, but I do have it working at least.

  • After upgrading to 9.2 playing music fans on MBP are going crazy

I upgraded to itunes 9.2 yesterday now just playing a song the fans in my MBP are going at like 6000rpm which it never did before when using itunes, I don't have the visualizer running or anything processor hungry like that.
In Activity Monitor it shows itunes as only using 4.3% cpu.
I closed all other apps to make sure it wasn't any of them, has anyone else had this after updating itunes?

  • Latest MBP 17" can't boot into Windows 7 or XP installs

I just got a new MBP (the latest 2011 17" model with ati graphics) and I'm having no success getting windows to boot on the thing.
I'd first tried loading the Win7 system image I made from my previous laptop (the 2010 17" i7 MBP with nvidia graphics) onto an NTFS partition and was greeted with nothing but a blinking cursor. I tried a bunch of windows commands trying to fix the boot code and the master boot record, they didn't help. I tried installing windows fresh but as soon as it rebooted from the dvd installer, all I got was another forever blinking cursor screen. I can't get to the F8 screen or any other pre-boot windows controls. The installer diagnosis says nothing is wrong. I also tried loading an install of XP to another partition and that gives me a brief blinking cursor screen followed by a completely black screen. It's of no help either.
Does anyone have other suggestions? Has anyone else successfully installed Windows on the latest Macbook Pros?

I'd recommend posting in the correct forum however because you're not telling us how you are trying to install Windoze that is a little difficult. If you are using Boot Camp use the Boot Camp forum, if you're using virtualization software then use their forums.

  • Latest MBP and high temperature ?

Does anyone who bought the latest MacBook Pro have any problems with is heating up extremely ?

Not sure what you mean by extremely, as that is a subjective term. If you read the manual the bottom, actually entire case being aluminum, is part of the cooling. It will get hot enough to be uncomfortable on your lap. Despite the term laptop, NO laptop computer should be used on your lap.
I have a new 17" MBP purchased July 1, and only when gaming do the fans start spinning fast, even then only occasionally.

  • MBP, Are they good for graphic design???

    Hi...
I ve been thinking of buying a MBP because most of the time as a freelance l move from one place to another, and im wondering if this "babes" will do me just fine for design, the thing is that most of the programs that I use are photoshop, illustrator, flash, firework, dreamweaver, after effects, and some times editing in finl cut, and I ve been reading in other post that most of this progrmas run slower, and they recomend the G5 Quad, but for the moment I don t have that kind of money and as a told you I move a lot, what can a do, should I go for it?? or what??...
    Thanks

Well, Yes, the G5 quad would be appropriate for you, but how does that solve your moving around problem?
The MBP is perfect for your needs, think about the future a bit, and all applications you mentioned will run natively. As of now, the speed difference between the G4 Powerbooks and the MBP is so minute while runing Adobe apps that it makes no sense to invest in older technology for immediate gains.
Also, if you do a search, you will find many related topics and your question has been answered.
    Good luck.

  • Can 10.4 be installed on the latest MBPs?

I'm fed up with Snow Leopard. It's the worst OSX ever made by Apple. I've recently powered up the old PowerMac G4 (dual-1.25GHz with only 1.5 gigabytes of RAM), which runs 10.4.11 and OH BOY how much faster it is than my Snow Leopard on my MBP15/2009!!! After nearly a day of working on it it still feels pretty snappy, and has about 1 gigabyte of RAM available, with about 150 megabytes of "Active memory"! On my MBP15 with Snow Leopard? Well... I have only two apps running right now - Mail and Safari, and... 15 megabytes of free RAM, and the whole system feels pretty slow. Showing 2.2 gigabytes of Active memory - what the **** is taking that much memory??? There are no apps that take more than 300 megabytes of RAM in Activity Monitor, and all processes together are only taking about 600 megabytes of real memory...
So I want to switch back to 10.4.11 on my MBP15. Does anybody know if it can be installed? I'm guessing the new MBPs have some hardware that 10.4 might not have support for... Any ideas?

I have multiple Macs at work, all exhibiting the same issues.
Reboot your system, launch Safari and check how much memory it's taking. Go to so e graphics heavy site, like www.gamespot.com, for example. Compare the amount of RAM it's taking in Snow Leopard on Intel Macs with the amount on Tiger, running on PPC. 300-400 megabytes on Intel easily. In Tiger on PPC it hardly ever gets above 120 megabytes.
Or just reboot the system and note how much free RAM is in the system. In Tiger on PPC with 1.75 gigabytes of RAM I have about 1.5 gigabytes free. On Intel? Out of 4 gigabytes about 2.5 is free.
But try importing a very large video clip from a camera, using iMovie. On Snow Leopard the system will become so slow that at times iMovie might not even finish the import and instead would fail with an error (and about 2 gigabytes in swap). On Tiger the import is virtually impossible to notice.

  • Macbook 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo W/2GB RAM VS Latest MBP

Hey All, I have a macbook and my friend has a MBP the latest 15 inch with 4gb of ram , i think his processor speed is 2.6 core 2 duo. Well i was wondering, we were doing screen sharing and my macbook was warming up and i went to look on his screen and his was normal temp with idling fans. What my question is why does mine heat up and his doesn't? I know he has a MBP but is it the processor speed he has or the 4gb of ram?
    Thanks!

The integrated graphics on the MacBook will tend to heat up faster in my experience.
The 2 fans were also mentioned, as well as the aluminum case.

  • Should/Can I downgrade the latest MBP 2.4 i5 to Snow Leopard?

Just got the recently updated MBP 13inch with the 2.4ghz i5 today.
Want to check I'm not doing something stupid before trying to downgrade it to Snow Leopard via this method.
Plan to create a disk image clone with Super Duper of the stock Lion version. Then wipe and install disk image clone of my older MBP 2.26 Intel Core Duo with 10.6.8. If the Mayans are wrong then sometime in January 2012 I will restore the Lion clone, block out a day wipe and migrate away.
Before I give myself a headache filtering through all the guides to making bootable discs of Lion, USB recovery jazz...
........is my method doable or ill advised for this new model?
    Thanks

Even if the Intel Core 2 Duo was upgraded with the 10.6.3 retail disks (has the hardware drivers verses the grey specialized disks) and the 10.6.8 Combo updated applied, then that FireWire Target Disk moded/cloned to the factory Lion Mac, I don't think the hardware drivers are present for the newest computers just released Monday.
I think it's all over for downgrading to Snow Leopard from here on out.
You can try though, create another OS X extended journaled partiton in Disk Utility under Lion (make it large so that way you can use it if it works)
Then T boot the Lion Mac into FireWire Target Disk mode, then connect the Firewire 800 cable (or with 400 adapater) and boot the Intel Core 2 Duo, use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone Snow to the Snow Partiton on the Lion Mac.
Reboot the Lion Mac and hold the option key, see if the machine boots into the Snow Leopard Parttion.
    If it does, then whoopie.
I suspect Apple still needs to support Snow Leopard, so someway they still need to run it without their staff having to carry around two machines.
If it doesn't work then boot into Lion and use Disk Utility to delete the Snow Partition and expand the Lion space to cover.
    Experiment finished.
However if your Intel Core 2 Duo has Snow Leopard installed from the 10.6 grey disks that came with the machine, it won't work for sure. The hardware drivers are too machine specific on the grey disks.
The 10.6.3 Retail disks have all the hardware drivers on it for the other hardware made at that time, but again the very new Mac's have different hardware, unsure if the older drivers still work or not.
But at least with the Lion/Snow partition method on the new factory Lion Mac, it's no big deal to simply delete the Snow Partition, you won't have to download Lion again from Apple servers, install the Lion Recovery Partition from the USB thubmb drive and all that business.

  • Cleaning latest MBP outer case...

My MBP is about 3 months old now and I notice what appear to be dust marks that do NOT wipe off. I'm now thinking they may be oxidation marks left by my fingers as most of them are on the edges where I hold the case when picking up the computer.
Anyone know of a product that will remove these marks? I've tried a bit of lens cleaner with no effect.

iKlear might work. I use it on my MBP all the time. I have a hard shell case from Speck that protects my aluminum really well.
