Latest quicktime download, video's are distorted!
After downloading the latest update for i-tunes & quicktime, the videos neither play in my i-tunes or in quicktime. They appear as a mass of pink & green, the audio is ok but there is no picture. Can anybody help please?

I'm having issues after downloading certain songs that they are choppy while trying to play them through itunes or quicktime. I just bought my macbook pro and am dissappointed in it's inability to do a simple task like replay downloaded music videos. It's only certain videos and it happens at the same point everytime. I thought it was a energy saver setting at first or something to do with itunes but I've tried playing it in quicktime and it did the same thing. Did my downloaded videos get corrupted? because they work just fine on my ipad.

Latest Quicktime download issue
I just downloaded the latest Quicktime and iTunes upgrades, and now when I go to websites, e.g., Weather.com, I'm getting a Quicktime icon with a question mark through it -- where flash animations used to play. I've tried downloading a new Quicktime plugin and resetting my FlipforMac, but it didn't help. Anyone know what this is and how I can resolve it? Thanks!

Which version of FireFox are you using?
Did you repair permissions prior to & after installing the update?
Make sure you have the latest versions of Adobe Flash Player Software.
Have you checked your QT MIME Settings? -
HREF Movies Broken in latest Quicktime
I've just upgraded some of the computers here to the latest QuickTime 7.1.6 and it has broken Quicktime support for every single video on our website. Our videos rely on using an HREFTrack embedded in the movie to pass through events to the browser. However with the latest quicktime releases these events are no longer being passed through. (I'm getting the same problem with IE and Firefox, so I don't think it's a browser problem).
Has anybody else encountered this problem ? I can't remember exactly which version of Quicktime the upgraded machines had on them before I upgraded, but i've got two computers here which weren't touched running 6.5.2 and 7.0.4 on which everything still works fine. I have tried downloading 7.1.5 from the archive but this suffers from the same problem. I've been trying to get hold of some earlier releases to see where the problem was introduced, but the download pages i'm getting from searches for versions prior to 7.1.5 are all horrendously broken, every thing is covered in ? symbols and all the links seem to lead back to the current 7.1.6 download. It supports multiple video plugins, so you may need to select Quicktime from the video options list. The underlying movie that is being played is on http://www.autotrain.org/services/autoview3-demo/test/main.mov . This file contains the events track and the actual video is referenced from our darwin server by this file.
The events are embedded into an HREFTrack and should cause the slides to change as the video plays. This definitely works in versions up to 7.0.4, but not 7.1.5+. I can find no error messages in the firefox javascript console.

When I open iTunes, it will not allow me to preview or download TV shows. The preview and download options are gray and will not let me view them. I have tried installing the latest Quicktime but it tells me that I have to do software update and when I do, Quicktime does not appear to need an update. I have no idea what to do
Click on your preference and check the Parental tab for possible restrictions. Open iTunes, then click the iTunes menu, select preferences after the window opens click on the Parental icon, take a look at the content restrictions section.

ITunes requires latest QuickTime - are the bugs worked out?
This week I installed the latest iTunes version. As many of you probably know, it requires the QuickTime update in order to play previously downloaded video. Is there any reason to wait a little longer before downloading latest QuickTime?
There were some significant changes between 7.2 and now. Two of the biggest things to impact users are the inability to play Flash content in QuickTime movies AND some movies converted from .flv using certain tools won't play in QuickTime. For the first one, it appears that won't return, so if that's needed for you, you'll need to consider your upgrade carefully.
For the second one, version 1.5.2 of iSquint comes with a Debreaker app that will fix most of these files. So, if you have problems playing those files in QuickTime, you'll want to try that. I believe there are some other users who have downgraded to QuickTime 7.2 for some other reasons as well, but these are the two that impacted me most. -

After you install the base 10.5, download & install the 10.5.8 combo update at http://support.apple.com/downloads/Mac_OS_X_10_5_8_Combo_Update

Caution - Leopard does not support classic mode. So, if you currently open OS 9 apps in classic mode, you won't be able to do this if you upgrade to Leopard.

Has anyone had this same problem after downloading latest quicktime update. iTunes store will not load.
This happened to me today as well post installing the latest version of itunes. I did a search on google for the error and came across a recommendation to :
Note: Start Windows in Safe Mode to complete any of the following steps if you're unable to access Windows normally due to the msvcr80.dll error.
If, and only if, you're receiving the msvcr80.dll is missing error when you open Apple iTunes, do the following: (skip this step if your msvcr80.dll error is occurring with a different program)
Uninstall from Windows the following five programs in this order: iTunes, Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Support, Bonjour, and finally Apple Application Support. If you have iCloud, remove it as well.
Uninstalling these programs in Windows is done from an applet in Control Panel called Programs & Features (in Windows 8, 7, or Vista) or Add or Remove Programs (in Windows XP).
Note: Songs and playlists in iTunes will not be removed when you uninstall the iTunes program or any of the other, already-mentioned Apple programs. If you'd still like to back them up, they're usually located in the My Music folder in Windows.
Download the latest version of iTunes from Appleand note the location you're saving it to so you can find it once it's done.
Run the iTunes installation as an administrator. If you're not sure how to do that, see How Do I Open an Elevated Command Prompt? for help. That procedure shows you how to open the Command Prompt program as an administrator, but the steps are essentially the same for anything, including the iTunes installation package you just downloaded.
A general overview of removing and reinstalling iTunes can also be found here on Apple's site but the above procedure seems to work better in this particular situation. -
Arrow Buttons Below YouTube Videos are Distorted
Below any video I watch on YouTube, the arrow next to the "Add To" button and the "Download" button (with the Easy YouTube Video Downloader add-on installed) are distorted. This doesn't happen in Chrome or IE9. This also happened in Firefox 4.0 so it isn't 5.0 specific.
It seems to only be my main computer, it doesn't happen on my notebook (Windows XP). So I am wondering what could it be about my computer that makes this happen. I have tried clearing the cache, using a clean profile and reinstalling Firefox and this has not helped in any way.Solved this right after I posted the question, here's what I did:
Unchecked "Use hardware exceleration when available" in Firefox's advanced settings. -
Using Sothink video downloader, normally by default my video files are save in FLV extension. Now for whatever reason suddenly my video files are save in .ebm extension & I can't open my video file. "Save file Type As" -to select file extension does not seem to work -
It's a WEBM video file. My solution was to rename the file to have .webm extension, and play it with the latest VLC Player (2.1, but I think any from 1.1 and upper will solve it too). Just associate .ebm with VLC didn't work. I had to rename the files so VLC knew exactly what that thing was.
By the way, it worked the same way with a .eam file (!), I just renamed the extension to .webm. -

You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists. -
Since updating to itunes 10.6.1.7 and quicktime 7.7.1 (updated both at the same time so not sure which is causing the issue) all the levels in any sound I play on my pc are distorted. The main track in the sound file will be muffled or really soft such as the main vocals in a song. The secondary tracks (harmonies instrumentals etc) are really loud. I thought it was just iTunes, however EVERYTHING has been affected since this update. Windows media player and games, all with the same issue.
Any one experienced this and have any feeback on how to fix it?problem solved after updating itunes to 10.6.3

How can I download video from a Canon ZR30 video camera to my IMac? I have Elgato Video Capture, but the provided connectors are loose in the camera and the camera does not have a white female end. No signal shows up on the computer when I connect the red and yellow connectors.
