  • Need to install latest release of Oracle Database on a solaris 11 zone

which is really a HA zone clustered in VCS(not important for installation of the database).
What parameters do I need to set or change in the Solaris zone, there seems to be no /etc/system file.
Please help,I need this done yesterday.

I was wrong about VCS not being important for the installation of the database on a zone. The database installed fine outside of VCS control from the Oracle 11gR2 download online, however, VCS 6.0 PR1 does not seem to support Oracle agents for Solaris 11, this is what their software requirements are:
Supported software for VCS agent for Oracle
The VCS 6.0 Platform Release 1 agent for Oracle supports the following software
versions in a Veritas Cluster Server (VCS) environment:
    Oracle 10g R2, Oracle 11g R1, and Oracle 11g R2 (including 64-bit
    versions)
Note: Veritas Cluster Server agent for Oracle supports the specified
Oracle versions on Solaris if Oracle supports that version on Solaris.
Refer to the Veritas Cluster Server Release Notes for more details.

VCS VCS 6.0 PR1 on Solaris
    For Solaris SPARC:
    Solaris 10 (32-bit and 64-bit)
    For Solaris x64:
    Solaris 10 (64-bit)
Note: For each platform, Symantec recommends applying the latest
Solaris operating system patches available from Oracle. Visit Oracle’s

  • Need to have more info about the latest patch on Oracle 10g Release 2

Please this is the follwing answer that was given to explain the purpose of patching the latest release of Oracle 10g release 2.
We are applying the patch to the 32bit environment to resolve memory errors.
This patch should be applied to the 64bit environments too as to maintain consistency in our database versions
Personaly I don't believe the response is accurate to patch the database.
Does someone can tell me where to find more information about the latest path of Oracle 10g release 2?
    Thanks a lot

You can find more information about a patchset by going over the readme document associated with the patch. As such, it is not exactly clear what kind of information you are looking for.
    Login into Metalink=>Patches&Updates=>Simple Search=>
    Product or Family=> RDBMS
    Select your OS
if will your a link to the readme file...
    Hope this helps
    Thanks

  • Oracle Waveset - Latest Release

    Guys
Whats the latest release of Oracle Waveset?
I have looked onto the web and it looks like its Oracle Waveset 8.1.1.x. But pls confirm and send me the link if possbile.
    Thanks in advance

The latest release (as of 3/25/11) is Oracle Waveset 8.1.1.2. It's important to remember that 8.1.1.2 is only a patch that is applied after upgrading to OW 8.1.1 from legacy Sun IDM 8.1.
8.1.1.2 can be obtained from My Oracle Support (http://support.oracle.com) (requires authentication) under the "Patches and Updates" tab.
    The patch # is 145769-02.
    Hope this helps.

  • Oracle 11.1.0.7 to latest release oracle 11.2 (Windows platform)

    Hi
I need to upgrade the present oracle database 11.1.0.7 to latest release of 11.2 ..(which is 11.2.0.1.3).?
I am confused with different documentation.
Can somebody please send me the correct documentation describing what to download first(which patches etc.,) along with step by step guide ..?
    Platform is windows:
    Present version is as follows:
    SQL> select banner from v$version;
    BANNER
Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.1.0.7.0 - Production
    PL/SQL Release 11.1.0.7.0 - Production

    Hi Srini
Thanks a lot for your help..I got the idea now but bit more clarifications needed..Sorry!
1)"Major rewrite of the scripts" means , we run lots of batch files which has
    set oracle_home=<present home>
Now because 11.2 will be installed in the new home, these scripts should have to be changed to reflect the new oracle home path?(where 11.2 is installed?)Yes correct - it is considered best practice to not hardcode such commands - these variables should be set in a environment file, and this env file should be invoked by scripts as needed. Future changes/upgrades will then necessitate changes only in this env file rather than all the scripts.
2)Another question I have is , when installing 11.2 in a new home, you said to install the most latest version of 11.2 in new home. can you provide me the link for that please?its windows 32 bit. Also if it is a most recent version, why patching is needed?
Most recent version is 11.2.0.3 - is it only available from My Oracle Support (https://support.oracle.com), access to which requires a paid support contract with Oracle. This is the base version. Oracle also releases patches on top of this base version - latest is 11.2.0.3.1 PSU which you need to apply (see MOS Doc 753736.1 - - Quick Reference to Patchset Patch Numbers ) - patches also can only be downloaded from MOS
3)Upgrade - After installing 11.2, I would have to use the DBUA from new oracle installation (DBUA for 11.2) for the upgrade process?
Yes correct - pl follow the steps in the Upgrade Guide
    thanks&RegardsHTH

Yes, that is correct. However, SCM is no longer being released as a standalone product. You should use Oracle Designer (which includes the Repository and all SCM functionality) instead.

  • Late 2011 MacBook Pro 2.4GHz Quad-core Intel i7 Vs Latest Release

Hi Guys I own a 2011 2.4GHz Quad-core Intel i7, 8 gigs of ram and 500 SSD. I've a photographer and tether my camera to the computer to shoot. I feel the performance is good and everything is on order. Wondering if upgrading to the latest release if going to see a signifant change in performance. I generally don't edit on my laptop so not sure what the retna display does for me.
    Thanks!

    (1) On my three 10.9 Macs, upgrading did two very obvious things:
     • removed some useful features like the ability to set individual notification audio tones for different chat buddies and collaboration via iChat Theater.  (These features are not supported in OS X 10.9's Messages app that replaced iChat.)  There may be changes  I do not like in other apps, too, but these are two that I noticed.
      - and -
     • slowed my machines down as compared to OS X 10.8, particularly on booting, opening apps, and other CPU/System interactions.  The amount of slowing varied by machine, with my old 13" MBP being nearly unacceptable.  My i7 MBP is not nearly so bad, although the the difference is noticeable, perhaps 10% vs almost double boot time on my old 13".
    (2) To determine if upgrading will be a problem on your system, I suggest that you:
    • make a current Time Machine backup
    • configure  > System Preferences... > Time Machine to "OFF"
    • upgrade Mac OS
    • use your Mac long enough to see if you like the change
    (3) If you want to keep the upgrade, turn Time Machine backups back on and continue using the new OS.
    (4) If you don't like the upgrade, recover your system from your Time Machine backup.

  • HT1338 Software Update is not finding latest release (April 3) of Java 2012 001 Update for Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 on iMac mid-2007 that downloaded automatically on iMac mid-2011

Software Update is not finding latest release (April 3) of Java 2012 001 Update on my iMac mid-2007, but it downloaded it automatically on my iMac mid-2011 yesterday. Both are running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3. When I try to download the update manually from Apple on my older iMac, it downloads okay, but when I try to open the dmg file, I get a warning message saying that opening this update may make your computer LESS secure. Do you want to proceed? (I did not).
Why would Software Update find this update and install it automatically on one iMac and not the other, if they are both running the same version of Mac OS X Lion? I checked the installed software list on my old iMac and the Java update does not appear there. Why would this update make my old iMac less secure?

Recall that Java is not installed as part of Lion.
You have to install it (and are asked if you want to) when you first try to run some java stuff.
Is it possible that the iMac 2007 does not have Java yet?
Try this: open Terminal (from Utilities) and type java -version (exactly like that, with the space before the hyphen).
    What do you get?
Consistent with this theory is that the dmg thing gave you the warning - installing java might make your machine less secure because java is a means for bad guys to try to do bad things to your computer.
