Latest software update 10.3.1.1565 Start up boot problems

This is really getting very annoying and very unprofessional.
After browsing all solutions, the problem of not being able to properly start your phone seems to be linked to the new software update and can only be solved by removing your battery more than one time ( 3 times). Eevry day need to remove the battery several times before being able to use my smartphone.
I am waiting for the re-release of the previous software version, because this costs me too much time and annoyance.
Apart from all other problems linked to this version.
When is BB (RIM)  taking action ? with a re-release of the 'old"version that worked just fine.

Hello,
BB has released about 3 OS versions in the last week or so. However, it remains in the control of the carriers if/when to release those to their end users. If you want to jump the queue, you can do so via Sachesi or (my recommendation) AutoLoader.
Good luck!

  • Latest Software update has shut down my mac - cant boot it up anymore

can anybody shed any light on this issue - i have just (stupidly) run the latest software update (about an hour ago) and now my macbook pro wont boot past the grey screen, it restarted the 1st time but no softwarew would work- then i restarted and now it wont get past the greay screen with the apple on and spinning wheel- ive tried booting of the install cd (it just spits out the cd)- safe booting, reseting the pram -and am now considering throwing it out of the window as i have deadline and have run out of idea's - it may have got dangerously low on disk space around the update - but it looked like it had at least a gig on it can anyone PLEASE help....

Hi exit23, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Unfortunately I've read of this happening before, it's usually Disk or OS corruption that leads to it.
And iGB free space is nothing these days, definitely dangerous territory, less the 10 GB is really slowing OSX down to a crawl.
Apparently you don't have a bootable backup!?
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Tiger Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
But you'll likely have to clear some space ASAP.
Do you have another Mac and both with Firewire?

  • Latest software update (I think 10.5.6) caused several problems

    So here's what happened:
    - I ran Apple Software Update and restarted
    - After restart, there was some sort of error that I think was regarding the "Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update" (2.4) update. I re-ran Software Update and restarted again.
    - My Mac went right into a kernel panic, so I restarted, and it panicked again.
    - Restarted in safe mode.
    - I get this error when booting into safe mode: "The application activeSettings quit unexpectedly"
    - When I go to "about this mac", it says I'm running 10.5.6, however when I look at "Software Update.log", 10.5.6 isn't listed. Also, when I run Software Update again it says I am up to date. The last 3 lines in the log are:
    2008-12-02 09:57:49 -0500: Installed "Safari" (3.2.1)
    2008-12-02 09:57:58 -0500: Installed "QuickTime H.264 Compatibility Update" (7.5.5)
2008-12-23 19:08:48 -0500: Installed "Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update" (2.4)
After some Googling and reading this form, it seems like I am also having 10.5.6 issues. I was attempting to run the 10.5.6 combo update here, found here: http://support.apple.com/downloads/MacOS_X_10_5_6_ComboUpdate but my Mac does the same kind of kernel panic whenever it starts to mount the disk, and I have to boot back up into safe mode.
I would greatly appreciate any guidance you guys could give me. For now, I'm going to try and run that update again.

According to the "WHAT'S NEW" section in the MacUpdate NuFile Download page, an updated version fixes a bug in which "NuFile causes finder's open with to crash." From the comments section, it seems there are still crashing problems, even with the updated version. Thus, I would suspect this pref pane as a cause of your problem.
FWIW, I have Perian installed & it has created no problems for me.
In any event, you should make sure you have the latest version of these & any other similar items installed, or disable all of them, do the combo update, & then add them back one or a few at a time to see which if any are not compatible with the updated OS.

  • I tried to update the latest software update for my MacBook pro (which was on 10/12) and after it started to update it restarted like normal but when it started back up it was running painfully slow and none oft programs will open. They all quit unexpectal

I tried to update the latest software update for my MacBook pro (which was on 10/12) and after it started to update it restarted like normal but when it started back up it was running painfully slow and none oft programs will open. They all quit unexpectedly. iTunes microsoft word all of them quit unexpectedly. Help!

Exact same problem with my 2010 MBP 2.4ghz 4gb ram 10.6.8. iTunes said update was needed, Software Update ran with various updates including a security update, truthfully didn't pay much attention, I always install the Apple updates. After the restart it took 3-4 times longer than normal to get to the login screen, same to get to the desktop but I'm familiar with that occurring on update restarts. Unfortunately it got worse from there. Performed a full shutdown and startup. Same long boot.  After the desktop finally loads every mouse button press received a 2 minute beachball. I use menu-meters and both processors are under 10%. Waited a few minutes for disk utilities to launch, repair permissions estimates 3 hours for a typical <10 minute process. Activity monitor shows nothing over 10% CPU most of the time however ReportCrash pops to the top often. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. BTW zero problems until this update.

  • TS3274 iPad does not start after the latest software update

After downloading the latest software update on 25 April 2014, my iPad does not start. The reset mechanism does not have any effect. I would be thankful for advice.

If the reset doesn't work, force iPad into recovery mode.
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
    3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
    4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
    5. Release Home button.
    ON COMPUTER
    6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...
    Note:
    1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
    2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.

  • After latest Software Update my iMac goes to a prohibition sign on startup

    iMac Info:
24" Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.66Ghz, 4GB Ram, yadda yadda
The latest software update notice I received informed me the following new software was available:
    * Performance Update (version 1.0)
    * iMovie Update (version 8.0.5)
I told it to install the updates, after which the computer had to be restarted. Upon restart the computer seems to be restarting normally, ie: the bell tolls and the Apple symbol shows above the spinning icon. But after what seems like a very long time a "no symbol" aka "prohibition sign" takes the place of the Apple logo, and the spinning icon remains. Nothing else happens. To see the screen I'm referring to check this image:

*Here's what I have done so far:*
    * I called expert case support and we tried a few things. The guy I talked to decided that I needed to use my snow leopard disk to use time machine to restore my system to the way it was before the software updates. He figured something must have been corrupted in the software update. I couldn't find my Snow Leopard disk so he emailed me instructions to follow when I finally found it.
    * After finally finding the disk I followed his instructions and restored my system to an October 8th backup.
    * Upon restart all was supposed to be well. That didn't happen. The same problem persists.
    * Support is now closed, so here I am searching these discussion forums. One thread mentioned a similar problem and it was recommended that the person start in safe mode and repair disk permissions. Sure enough, my iMac starts in Safe Mode. I repaired disk permissions. Restarted the iMac. The same problem still exists.
    Now what?

I have had similar issues since upgrading to Snow Leopard. The first time, I took my MacBook to be checked and the tech said it booted up fine under another startup disk. Since it's under warranty, they just reloaded the original system (Leopard) and I needed to rely on a time machine backup. Now, after the latest software update from Apple, I had the same problem, and am restoring from the latest Time Machine backup.
Does anyone know if this is a systemic problem? Any tips on preventing a repeat the next time I need to update my system software?
    Thanks.

  • Since installing the latest software update I have been unable to access my mail app.the screen appears blank?

Since installing the latest software update I have been unable to access my mail app.the screen appears blank?

Force close the mail app and reset your iPad. See if that fixes it.
In order to close the mail app, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the mail app and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Installation failed (both iLife 11 and the latest software update)

    Hi!
Today I tried to install the new iLife 11 and update my system again with the latest software update (including the Java fot Mac OS X 10.6 update 3 and ProKit Update). With both installations I get an error message during the installation.
I have no clue what it is about and how to solve it. I made some screenshots but can't seem to upload them here. The error message is in Dutch, so it might not be correctly translated. I get this error message with the update: 'None of the selected updates could be installed, an unexpected error/mistake has occurred'.
With the installation I also get an error while trying to install it. This occurs during the installation says it is configuring. After that is says that the installation has failed. 'During the installation some mistakes has occurred. Please start the installation again.'
I tried rebooting and repairing disc permissions etc.
    How can this be solved?

    I have a little update...
During the software update it says the following: 'waiting until other installations are finished'
Thing is I am not installing anything. I have just rebooted the computer and only started Safari and the software update. That's it...
    Anyone?

Help since installing latest software updates I now can't open safari????

    Hi Stewartirl,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
Are you only having issues opening Safari? Are you able to connect to the internet with other Browsers or using Mail?
The article below is a good starting point for troubleshooting.  I'd start by plugging in an ethernet cable and restarting the computer.  If the wired (LAN) connection works, then unplug the ethernet cable and continue troubleshooting the wireless connection.

  • IPOS has crashed when I tried to put latest software update on it

I have an 18 mo old Touch.
I tried to put the latest software update on it so that I could start using apps.
It crashed. The Touch itself has an Apple showing, with a status bar under it that will not move. It was thus last night, and I left it last night thinking it would finish the status update by the time I woke up. Nope.
I tried rebooting the Touch twice. Same thing shows up.
Oddly enough, there appear to be songs on it, because when it is hooked to iTunes I can see its library on iTunes and play including vids. The screen of the Touch itself has the Apple and status bar = crashed.
    Help?

I am having the same problem! Mine is the same age (about 18 mos). Totally *****! I have gone back and forth to the Box Store I bought it at and had the "geek guys" restore it. They are able to restore it to 2.2.1
This happens every time I attempt to download the latest firmware for my iTouch.

I have a MacBook Air with a US keyboard layout.  (I think - I live in NZ)
I agreed to automatically install the latest OS updates.  Ever since then the keyboard layout for some characters has changed.
For example Shift-2 used to produce an @ symbol - now it produces a ".  I now get the @ symbol when I press the key labelled [.
Please help - this is driving me nuts!
This started today as a result of the latest software update!

    System Preferences>Language & Text

  • IPhoto slideshow is very very very slow after the latest software update

As the subject states, iPhoto slideshows are very slow: after clicking on the slideshow-button first nothing happens, after a while the screen goes black (that lasts about a minute or so) and the (finally) the slideshow starts. which is very annoying because it displays no options screen at first as it used to do, it just starts using very annoying standard music... quitting slideshow again to go to the options menu takes ages!! this problem started after the latest software update... way to go Apple...
    suggestions anyone?!

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Well I haven’t seen this problem.
    Start with the troubleshooting basics:
    1. Delete the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    2. Repair Permissions using Disk Utility
    3. Create a new account (systempreferences -> accounts) and see if the problem is repeated there. If it is, then a re-install of the app might be indicated. If it's not, then it's likely the app is okay and the problem is something in the main account.
    Regards
    TD
