Latest software update - security update 2006-005 and iTunes7.0.1
So I installed this one last night and ran repair permissions, but today iPhoto is crashing every time I try to import a JPG file and Safari also just randomly crashed on me. Have reported the bugs to the gods at Apple so let's see. Anyone else?
I have a different symptom after the latest security update (along with a few other app. updates)
after update, on restart my screen froze with the grey apple shifted off to the right, the fan started going beserk so I switched off.
restarted with no display connected and waited until I thought it had got the the end of the boot cycle and reconnected the display (23" apple cinema dispay) and all (so far) seems fine. A bit weird though. Anyone have any thoughts?

Question Regarding Security Updates 2006-005 and 2006-006?
Okay I just noticed Apple Security Update 2006-005 and 2006-006 are available for download. Has anyone had any problems with these updates? I remember the Security Update 2006-001 was a nightmare for me -- Safari was broken after that update I had to do a complete OS reinstall then re-update to Mac OSZ 10.3.9 Panther and I only want to update if the likelihood of any problems occuring is very slim. Anyone running Mac OS X on PowerPC chips (i.e. using a PowerBook, an older iMac, Mac Mini, PowerMac etc) or on Intel chips (i.e. MacBook Pro, the new iMacs, new Mac Mini's etc) with Mac OS X Panther, Mac OS X Tiger etc having any problems with either update?
(10.3.9 Client) seems to have broken my CS2 Version Cue after loading Security Update 2006-006 via Software Update - 27MB or something.
Though afterwards all apps (Illustrator 12.0.1, Acrobat 7.0.8, PS 9.0.1 and InDesign 4.0.4) open and run fine, Version Cue disappeared from the Desktop Menu and System Preferences and says it's no longer installed, all this immediately after loading the Update and restarting.
Two restarts and a Repair Permissions haven't resolved the issue. I've downloaded the stand alone Update and have run that but without any luck. I'd had no history of any trouble with any Security Update prior to this, and have run good maintenance schedules.
I've not seen any other posts or related issues to mine, so maybe it's just my isolated event? -
My iPad is not charging via PC and iTunes on the PC (latest software update, both PC and iPad rebooted) - charges only via AC adaptor - any ideas?
The quickest way to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter. Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

I download latest updates for itunes and my iphone, when it comes to installing, it successfully downloads, but then i get a message for iphone software error=1403 file corrupted, and for itunes it downloads, then when i try to install it a message says unable to install software, file maybe corrupted!!
The iTunes update must be downloaded and installed before you try and use it to update the iPhone OS
Download iTunes 10.2.2 from here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1103
When it completes it will auto mount the disc image and show you the package installer, don't try and do anything with the file until it gets to this stage.
Once that's installed reboot the Mac, run iTunes, connect your iPhone and let it sync, then hit the update button and let it complete that step by itself (which will require a restart of the iPhone) -
My Facebook was hacked and as I only access it through my iPhone 4 or my iPad is there any other security measures I can take to prevent this happening. I have the latest software updates.
Facebook security is handled by Facebook, not the phone or Apple. Contact them.

How do I block this msg from always popping up "iTunes requires Safari 4.0.3 or later to be installed to use the iTunes Store within iTunes. Use Software Update to download and install the latest version of Safari". I cannot download this software bc my lap top is to old. The msg literally pops up everytime I make any moves on itunes and is VERY annoying.

Latest software updates make airport use 1,3GB of RAM and 99% CPU usuage
I just updated with the latest software updates. Right after I've done the necessary restarts I try to connect to a wlan and I get connected but the memory usuage of airport goes up to 1,3GB and cpu usuage 99% (see image). Here are the software updates I installed.
2007-05-10 10:44:02 +0200: Installed "QuickTime" (7.1.6)
2007-05-10 10:44:06 +0200: Installed "Battery Update" (1.2)
2007-05-10 10:44:10 +0200: Installed "AirPort Extreme Update 2007-003" (1.0)

Anyone knows what's going on and how I can solve this?

MacBook 2.0 Core Duo Mac OS X (10.4.9) 2 GB RAMOkay strangely enough, after repairing disk permissions (though it only found an error in a log file, nothing with airport) it seems to work now.
What is strange is that the airport process no longer exists in Activity Monitor. Oh well everything works as normal again -

i've just done TODAY's software update... and now when i boot up in to OS X, it is fine for about 10 seconds, until my Window Partition mounts, and the whole system freezes... does anyone else have this problem...

It rebooted twice and then the Aqua "starting Mac OS X" splash screen appears, the progress bar jumps to 100% very quickly and then the system goes into what looks like sleep mode (the power buttons dim like when it's asleep). It won't wake up after that or restart by holding the power button. Have to unplug it!
At first, I tried a couple times using the OPT key to try and boot from another disk and it ignored it and went to sleep as above. Then, I tried using the SHIFT key to try and boot into safe mode and the screen stayed black and it didn't seem to be doing anything. After that, I tried OPT again and it booted successfully. Now it seems to be booting normally again. Try booting with SHIFT key held down and then reboot normally to see if that works.
This is very, very bad. I am afraid. -
Security Update 2006-005 || sleep issues
after installing Security Update 2006-005, like others i had problems with connecting to my airport express, sluggish behavior, and some hanging apps (unable to kill or forcequit). i deleted various cache files (via macfixit suggestion), zapped pram, repaired disk permissions. things seem to be working fine now, with the exception that my computer will no longer sleep. has anyone experienced this? also of note, when i have tried to get the computer to sleep and ichat is running, it tries to disconnect, then the application hangs, and cannot be quit, force quit or killed.
please help, my mac wishes to sleep again.
e.what does this do, is it stronger than just a force quit or a kill?
also, my issues resolved. after zapping pram, permissions, cache cleanup, and macjanitor, the last ingredient was to turn the computer off for a while. i have heard unplugging the power supply isn't a bad idea either.
i stepped away, and later when i turned the machine back on, all my maintenance/cleanup work finally took and things were running well again. looks like it just needed some cleanup and a rest.

I tried to update the latest software update for my MacBook pro (which was on 10/12) and after it started to update it restarted like normal but when it started back up it was running painfully slow and none oft programs will open.They all quit unexpectedly. iTunes microsoft word all of them quit unexpectedly. Help!
Exact same problem with my 2010 MBP 2.4ghz 4gb ram 10.6.8. iTunes said update was needed, Software Update ran with various updates including a security update, truthfully didn't pay much attention, I always install the Apple updates. After the restart it took 3-4 times longer than normal to get to the login screen, same to get to the desktop but I'm familiar with that occurring on update restarts. Unfortunately it got worse from there. Performed a full shutdown and startup. Same long boot. After the desktop finally loads every mouse button press received a 2 minute beachball. I use menu-meters and both processors are under 10%. Waited a few minutes for disk utilities to launch, repair permissions estimates 3 hours for a typical <10 minute process. Activity monitor shows nothing over 10% CPU most of the time however ReportCrash pops to the top often. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. BTW zero problems until this update.

My blackberry torch will not receive emails on wifi since the latest software update, I've tried numerous wifi networks and several handsets, even had them replaced and received a brand new. Still the same problem.
When turning off the wifi network on the torch, the phone will stall for 5-10min while it tries to communicate with the network (vodafone) to receive outstanding emails and data.
Can someone please inform Blackberry and get a quick fix on thisSounds like you have Do NOt Disturb turned on.

Safari is not working on the Mac. Internet is fine. mail, App Store etc all working and connecting to Internet fine. Done the latest software update, still not working. When selecting a web address from bookmarks or typing in search bar, partial blue bar only and coloured wheel appears.
From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
If you wish, you may be able to salvage the malfunctioning extension by uninstalling and reinstalling it. That will revert its settings to the defaults.
If extensions aren't causing the problem, see below.

I just installed the latest software update and now I can't open Mail 4.5. This is a Mini 2,1 using OSX 10.6.8.

When I check for software updates only itunes and random other updates show up but not security updates or safari update. When i check installed updates I realized my last security update was 2011-004 and I still have safari 5.0.6. Can anyone help me?
Don't panic. OS X 10.5.8 is the most popular PowerPC OS out there. People run it everyday without security breaches, including myself. It isn't Windows!

Please can someone help me to solve the error message "Could not activate cellular data network: PDP authentication failure"when using 3G or GPRS on safari with an iphone 4GS and latest software updates. All iPhones sold in Japan are sold carrier locked and cannot be officially unlocked by the carrier. If you unlocked it, it was by unauthorized means (hacked), and support cannot be given to you in this forum.
Hacked iPhones are subject to countermeasures by Apple, particularly when updating the firmware. It is likely permanently re-locked or permanently disabled.
