Latest Software Upgrade since Leopard Installation
Since restarting after this morning's Leopard Upgrade I am being asked for my Administration Name and Password for Firewalling and Disk Utility (Disk Permissions). When entered they are not recognised so permission for use of these utils is not given... what's going on here!
even the most cursory search of this forum would have netted you the answer to your question which has already been asked and answered multiple times

Have ylu tried the standard fixes:
- Reset. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory defaults/new iPod. -
I have recently updated my iTunes to the latest software. Since then my iphone will not sync with itunes, it doesn't show up in my computer any more either. The computer makes the bing sound as I plug in but i am unable to sync, how can I fix this problem?

I lost all my data while doing the latest software upgrade, how do I get it back if I dont have a backup on iTunes?
If you don't have a backup, then all your pics/text/notes are gone.
You can sync back music and app. If you were syncing your contacts with a program in itunes, then you'll get that back.
Not sure why you didn't do a backup, especially prior to doing an upgrade. -
I updated iphone 3G to latest software and since then it doesnt recognise sim card and wont restore, any thoughts yall?

Why does my iPhone no longer give me the option to connect to my tv via Apple TV when on Safari as it previously did following my latest software upgrade?

Same phone, same tv, same broadband network so everything the same so I assumed that it would.....just work!!! :-)
I'm away this weekend but I'm going to turn off and reload the Apple TV to see if that might work.

Have an iPad mini with latest software upgrade 8.1.2. Verizon Messaging app crashes on use after one year with no problems. I deleted the app and downloaded a clean version. It crashes whether or not I have any apps running in the background. Sometimes I can type part of a message before it crashes. Other times it crashes as soon as I try to use the app at all. Neither Apple Support nor Verizon store staff could find any reason for the problems. Any ideas??

Did you uninstall that application by pressing/holding down the icon until the (X) appears? Tap the (X) to delete it. Once the application has been deleted, you will need to reset the network settings on your device in Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings. Power that device off/on and then download the application again. Additionally, we also recommend that you disable Wi-Fi and connect to our network to test the messaging feature again.

My iPad Air has the latest software version(iOS 7.1.2) update, since that update the location services have stopped working. have a solution?
I have had the same problem, so many apps do not work properly without it! Apple says the internet satellite, the Internet satellite says Apple, back and forth with the blame instead of fixing the problem. Have turned location on and off, reset everything multiple times ( lots of hours and bandwidth to download ), Siri is now working part time, I guess she has cut back her hours for the summer. Even in these forums was suggested to check with Skyhook who does the global positioning, and after hours with them, they ended up saying that they have nothing to do with it anymore, Apple does. All to no avail and much frustration! I wonder if this is happening with the iPhone's? i'd like to know if this is happening with others that do not use satellite as their ISP? That would help narrow down the argument with Apple vs. satellite. Fell for you! Someone please help us! Ta

Iphone 3GS with latest software upgrade - Not fully functional ?
I have recently upgraded the operating system on my iphone 3GS to the latest software, although some of the new functions work like the home screen files it seems that the new function of additional incoming text alerts (some 17 new ones) are not on the phone, I have tried to re-install the upgrade but itunes will not allow this to be done as it says its already running the latest version, any help would be greatly appriciated.

Lost all photos after latest software upgrade and no history in time machine.....
lost all photos after latest software update and no time machine history available. What happend and what to do? Other software programs (Quicken, etc.) are ok and content retained. Can't figure it out....
You can browse your time machine drive and copy all the files back manually.

Odd error (-3001) when using Software Update since Leopard upgrade
Whenever I try to install anything that shows up in Software Update now, I get this error:
You do not have appropriate access privileges.
A networking error has occurred: Cannot open file (-3001). Make sure you can connect to the Internet, then try again.
However, I AM connected to the Internet, and I AM an Admin. I should have no problems doing this, and the issue only tarted when I installed Leopard. Anyone know of a fix?Anyone have any ideas about this one? Still can't do a software update.

Is anyone experiencing jerky playback / low frame rate since latest software upgrade?
I recently updated my Apple TV 2nd Generation to 4.4.3 and I'm experiencing jerky playback on films and tv programmes. I'd estimate I'm getting about 15fps but can't tell exactly. I've reset the Apple TV, reset to factory settings etc. and am still experiencing poor playback. It's not my wireless connection as the buffer fills up very quickly and happens with both HD and SD content. Audio is unaffected. Wired up to a Denon 1911 - reset that too - playback on other devices connected to it is fine. Any suggestions/thoughts/concurrences?

i have a samsung 55 inch tv that i just bought. Under picture settings is "auto motion plus"...when it is set to off or clear....there is no more problems!!!
Most other threads have noticed the same thing...whatever your tv calls it--disable the setting on your tv that upscales your rate or that tries to reduce motion blur. -
Automatic start up since Leopard installation
Since installation of Leopard my MacBook has begun automatically starting up at 8:00 PM. My preferences has no check mark for start up at this time. Now that daylight saving time is over it has begun starting up at 7:00 PM. I don't like the idea of it starting up by itself when I do not have it set to do so. Anyone have any idea how to keep this from happening. Thanks
I to have been woken in the middle of the night by the +Phantom Mac Turnaona+. But I think I have solved the problem, find answer below.
History: once upon a time...a wakeup/fall asleep preference has been set and since removed
Consequence: a valid Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.AutoWake.plist file was created. Upon removing the wakup time from the preferences it was changed.
The file then had the Tag for a wakeup time that did not contain a time. The system upun shutdown interpreted this as 1am/everyday and wrote that information into PRAM.
Disarming:
1. deleted com.apple.AutoWake.plist - this left the information in PRAM
2. PRAM-Reset on next startup (cmd-opt-P-R) -
HELP! Latest Software upgrade (Aug 1st) rendered Soundtrack Pro useless!
The latest "improvement to stability" was posted last night and I dutifully installed it with my software update. Today when using Soundtrack Pro I find I can't edit ANYTHING! Just a simple cut and reposition is impossible! This dialogue box pops up and says:
An Unexpected problem
NSInternalInconsistencyException
Invalid parameter not satisfying: startPoint && ([startPoint position] == [section position])
I have the option to okay or quit. And unfrotunately I have to quit.
Any ideas of what to do? Apple's upgrade has effectively made the software unusable. I hope this is corrected quickly.

When I attempting to record from my firewire interface when I tried to select a channel I was getting a different error:

But trashing the user preference for STP fixed it.

Gcc and others missing since Leopard installation
Not that I use these myself, but in Terminal (and X11) I can no longer find things like gcc, c++, make and other files that would be valuable to show to my students. I have vi and emacs as before, and also pico. It seems as if we have considerably fewer items listed (now 1241).
I am perfectly willing to run to the install disk and amend the installation if only I knew what to add. (I do have the Developer Tools installed.)
Some guidance, please? . . .OK, that mist be the answer as I did an Archive and Install (earlier I had upgraded but after a couple of weeks some gremlins struck). I then dragged the Dev folder from the Old System Folder. That will be going on again (properly) later this evening.
On the other points, I have neither of those invisible files in the Home directory (or at Root come to that), although I did find a .bash_history file there. Nor are the files in that /usr/bin location.
I guess we had better resort to the reinstall of the Dev tools and I will get back to you later.
