Latest thundervbird update will not start [SOLVED]

Thunderbird 31.01 will not run on either of my computers. The error is:
$ thunderbird
XPCOMGlueLoad error for file /usr/lib/thunderbird/libxul.so:
/usr/lib/thunderbird/libsmime3.so: version `NSS_3.16' not found (required by /usr/lib/thunderbird/libxul.so)
Couldn't load XPCOM.
I confirm that nss is 3.16.3-1
Can anyone say what is the problem?

OK, I admit it, I am confused.
I just updated again to install Thunderbird 31.0-1 and now it is working for me. But I do not know why:

suggests that the extra lib packages were left over from the upgrade.
I cannot say why the links were incorrectly updated before. All very strange.

Pages 09 (updated) will not start up using Lion OSX

iWork Pages 09 (updated) will not start up using Lion OSX. It did work at one time but now it won't. I reinstalled iWork several times with updates but the applications say to reinstall or check the developer. I'm using an i-Mac Intel with updated downloads for all applications. Thank You in Advance for your thoughts to solving this concern.

What else have you been doing just before this problem started? Any other updates on the computer? If you need to reinstall iWork which some has when upgrading to Lion after a complete uninstall.

Expand the archive and run the script.
Now you can instal iwork again and do the updates.

Update will not start automatically

it will not start the update. It says update will start up automatically. It does not... I have shut down my firewall, it starts up a searchporthole ? NKVD ? and Advertising.... I have tried many times with or with out firewall... I have updated to date all XP software.
What is wrong ?

updates are stupid. The letest apple itunes update will not let you keep your old password.
Probably pertains to those of us who have kept same password for apple id since inception. New rules make you do all sorts of stupid characters instead of keeping it simple.

sam it sounds like ur password has a low level of security and new update wants to to make it stronger
when it askes to to make ur password just put ur old one back in but replace some letters with caps and numbers

I am in the middle of the latest Yosemite update. It requires a restart, so it restarted my computer. Then the normal white screen came up as it was turning on with the loading bar underneath the Apple logo. This is where the problem starts. When the loading bar is at the halfway point, the loading bar doesn't move anymore. I tried this update a couple weeks ago, and the same thing happened. I gave the update a couple hours and yet the loading bar doesn't move. If I force shutdown the computer with the power button, then turn the computer back on again, the update has not installed. I have a lot of storage space and a good internet connection, so I don't see what the problem is. Should i just wait for the next update and see what happens?

Latest Flash update will not function in my XP.

I use Win XP SP3 with Chrome, Catalyst 6.11. After my last web prompted update, I have lost the ability to scroll horizontally. I stuck with left view and some things cut off. I use this old system on my TV.

Nokia Software Updater will not start at all

I have updated Nokia PC Suite today.
Everything is working except Nokia Software Updater.
The program will not run - it just hangs there?

I have found out how to solve the problem.
Download and run Nokia PC Suite Cleaner - then download and run Nokia PC Suite then download and run Nokia Software Updater.
It worked for me.

Latest software update will not install

I have a MacBook Pro running 10.6.8 and the latest updates do not want to install. It downloads fine looks like it installs, but end up with a "An Undexpected Error Occurred." I've had this machine for 3 years now and have never encountered an update problem before. Is anyone else haveing this problem?
I've run Disk Repair and results were there were no problems.

3 Beeps After Software Update, Will Not Start

Late 2012 Mac Mini. Updated OS X with Software Update, upon restart it is instead beeping 3 beeps in a row, silence, then 3 beeps in a row again, for hours. It's getting hot near the power cord. Screen is black. I finally powered down successfully by holding power button.
I've seen older posts saying this signals faulty RAM in Powerbooks. I did upgrade the RAM to 16 GB myself when I bought the Mac mini, it has always worked fine (apart from snowy screens when it first awakes or starts which eventually go away and I understand this update was supposed to address...).
Have I voided my warranty by installing the RAM myself?
What to do?

John, thanks. I ran the Apple Hardware Test, and the memory tested fine. The three beeps at start up has not returned since the original restart after the software update, so who knows what it was...

Correct, there is no benefit of additional RAM unless and until your system and what you do with it requires more than you have. OS X manages its resources efficiently, and there is no way to change how it does that.
I'm still getting snow when starting or awakening the Mac when the monitor has not been recently on, so there may be some interaction between the monitor and the Mac mini. (MultiSync LCD2470 monitor.) Because when the monitor has been running for a while I can restart the Mac without getting snow, usually. Turning the monitor off and on about three or four times usually gets rid of the snowy image and I get a picture. Every now and then it will abruptly turn to complete snow after having been on for hours, so who knows... I understood the snow problems were a common problem with the Intel integrated graphics and the recent software update(s) were meant to address it. It didn't help in my case.
At least I'm back to the original functionality from before the software update...

Latest Software Update will not let me power up

I decided to update my MBP - the older one -
once it shut it for a Restart, it will no longer Restart. It's shut down. So I go to power up with the button, and it tries to start, gives me 2 circles of the spinning clock, and shuts right back down again.
I tried and tried, it refuses to power up and start.
Any ideas? How do I fix this when I can't get into it?

Total corruption. The HDD won't mount, Disk Verify/Repair did not work -
had to Erase and Reinstall everything.
Thank goodness I had backed it up.
