Latest up date with plugin container has made firefox lag and eating memory and cpu
plugin container using 5% cpu constantly, firefox using 150 - 300k ram, also plugin container not closing when firefox does causing shut down to fail have to use controll alt delete

Flash games cause Firefox Plug-in container to hang. The problems started as soon as the plug-in container became a part of Firefox two updates ago.
Memory usage is up to 3 times what Firefox itself is using and when the hangs occur, the plug-in container is using in excess of 50% of the computer's memory. At this point, I need to switch to a different browser to play these games for longer than a few minutes at a time.

My firefox Hangs and crashes permenantly, and in my task manager I often see mutiple plugin containers running although I may be only on Facebook homepage. When I shut down my Firefox window I then have to go to my task manager to End Task manually as Firefox continues to run. I am now starting to use other browsers for quick use of the internet. I have always preferred Firefox but will cease to use it if this problem persists.

"Firefox Plugin Container Has Stopped Working."
Why hasn't Mozilla FIXED the problem in 5 months?
And Why is there not any answer to how to fix it that an Ordinary Person can do, without a MS degree in computer science?
I had this problem in Firefox 3.6.8 and then just downloaded version 3.6.12, the latest one, but it still happens constantly:
Hundreds of people posted in June 2010 and now the help section says: "This Question is Closed" message is at the bottom,
But there is NO SOLUTION!This file seems to offer as many issues as problems it's supposed to solve.
Fix your problem in 20 seconds, 15 if you copy and paste the 2 strings below:
- Open a new tab in Firefox
- Type "about:config" in the Address Bar (without the quotes)
- Click "I'll be careful, I promise!"
- Type "dom.ipc" in the Filter field on top of the page
- 6 lines of parameters should appear, ignore the first and the last ones
- Double-click on the 4 lines in the middle to change their value to "False"
- Close the tab, close Firefox, restart Firefox -
the message:" Mozilla Firefox plugin-container has stopped working properly" appears regularly in my maintenance center. I am on Windows 7 and Firefox 3.6.17
I had the same type of failure. It was caused by a FF upgrade from V4 to V9.1. Dearing 1955 did not say what version caused the problem. My USB ports started acting up. I could not install the Webcam that was installed before. The HP Scanner of my OJ 8500 stopped working (USB). Did get it to work via Wireless. Removing FF did not clear the problem. Believe I have infected USB driver now.

Mozilla Firefox plugin-container has stopped working properly
Mozilla Firefox plugin-container has stopped working properly. FOR THE UMPTEENTH DAMN TIME... HOW DO I FIX THIS on Firefox 3.6.13!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
''edited by a moderator - https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Forum+and+chat+rules+and+guidelines ''A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

Sick of plugin container so uninstalling firefox.
I am uninstalling Firefox after many years because of Plugin conatainer. Bye.
Did you know you can disable the plugin container? [[What is plugin-container#w_having-problems|Having problems?]]
What specific issues are you having with plugin container? -
I've done this with a previous version of ff by editing the values of these preferences: dom.ipc.plugins.enabled true
dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.npctrl.dll false
dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.npqtplugin.dll false
dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.npswf32.dll false
dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.nptest.dll true
dom.ipc.plugins.timeoutSecs 45
after I installed ff on my laptop today I cannot find the .dll preferences. And plugin-container.exe continues to plague me. For me this is the one issue with ff since updating from 7. It boggles me as to why you haven't gotten rid of this thing. To disable crash protection, go to about:config and set to false all preferences starting with dom.ipc.plugins.enabled. '''(It is possible that your browser has only that preference entry without any addition.) '''This will prevent the "plugin-container" process from running and all plugins will run within the Firefox browser process. (from [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Plugin-container_and_out-of-process_plugins#Disabling_crash_protection Disabling_crash_protection] )
thank you

Having problems with plugin-container.exe!
The Plugin-container.exe is causing firefox to crash after every page load. I have isolated it as the root cause because every time I terminate the process firefox starts working again.
It's possible that you are having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not caused by one (or more than one) of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] (don't forget to select ''Disable all add-ons'' when you start safe mode). If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes this article] for information about troubleshooting extensions and themes and [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+plugins this one] for plugins.
If you need support for one of your add-ons, you'll have to contact its author.
If the problem does not disappear when all add-ons are disabled, please tell me, so we can work from there. Please have no fear of following my instructions to the line, as all can be easily undone. -
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the plug ins as well as gone to the trouble shooting area for these plugins. I have tried installing firefox again. I also tried using beta 4 and I had the same issue. Also it is taking forever to load pages.
Did you make sure that your firewall or other security software isn't blocking the plugin-container process?

Plugin container has stopped working
My firefox is not working - help. it doesn't even type ... sluggish and keeps crashing and a stop plugin notice keeps popping up hundreds of times. I need to work and am unsure how to proceed.
Thanks Philipp ... it was already set that way. I am now only today able to get back into Firefox after using Safe Mode (which I had to access from Internet Explorer) and then doing the 'REFRESH'. I'm not sure if this has fixed, and there is something strange about Firefox now ... missing my Toolbar and other things ... thanks again.

C:\Windows\system32\en-US\erofflps.txtHI Starlet sky,
Its a pleasure to meet a fellow 3d gamer. Since the plugin that crashed was:
webplayer_win.dll_unloaded
You can clear the cache and see if this helps prevent future crashes, but that might not be the only cause.
Other things to consider:
* Your plugins and extensions are not update: Shockwave Flash 11.7 r700 - needs to be 14
* Update all your media extensions and plugins, this will help the performance. also look at hardware acceleration after updating your graphics card and extensions [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]]
Once this is done, please try to access the game a gain and report back! It could help other users, thank you! -

when I play a game on facebook.com my plug-in container starts using almost half of my core i5 cpu. I have found that in internet explorer doesn't have that problem. I have windows 7 home premium.
Here's an explanation of what those processes are.
Inside Flash Player Protected Mode for Firefox
I'm curious about what you did to uninstall just those. -
