Latest version of Acrobat

How can I test what version of Acrobat reader is installed on my users computers. I have a rather large user base and need a link or something that sends me the version installed.

  • Plugin check says the Acrobat Reader plugin (10.0.1.434) is an outdated version; however, I downloaded the latest version of Acrobat and installed it. Is there a problem on my PC /environment or with the plugin check?

    1. Did the plugin check on June 10th -- got the message that Acrobat Reader plugin for Firefox and Netscape was an outdated version. Pressed the Update button on the page and was taken to the Adobe site.
    2. Downloaded the latest version, AdbeRdr1001_en_US.exe, and then ran the executable locally on the PC. The update completed normally. Note: I did not unistall the old Acrobat reader before running the executable.
    3. Went back to the plugin check page and I still received the outdated message for that plugin. Have rebooted system (i.e. the next day) and repeated the check, with the same results.
    4. Have opened Acrobat Reader application, pressed Help and then Check for Updates -- no new updates were found. Have run the Mozilla test (Mozilla Privacy Policy PDF) without any issues.
    5. What is the plugin version that should be registered on my PC within the Add-ons Manager?
    6. Please advise on the appropriate steps.

I think there is a bug in Plug-in check. It happened to me as well in the last few days. There's no newer version of Adobe Reader that I know of. Anyway, Adobe is going to release a patch next Tuesday, maybe that'll fix this bug.

  • I have the latest version of acrobat reader installed (10.1.4.38) but it still says it needs updating

Problem started out of the blue a few days ago. When I go to a page with a PDF file, it says "Plugin is vulnerable... click to start anyway" (paraphrased). When I look in Add-Ons, it has the following line about the Acrobat Reader "adobe acrobat is known to be vulnerable and should be updated 10.1.4.38". That is the latest version available.
I tried updating it, removing it from my computer, reinstalling, etc, several times. No improvement - I still get the same message.

Hi garyd11, has Adobe Reader ever run correctly on your PC, in other words, is this a new problem? Actually, regardless of your answer, if Adobe Reader has crashed, I suspect that restarting Windows might help.

  • How to udate to latest version of Acrobat Pro 9?

I installed new hard drives in my Windows XP computer, and had a computer person run a "Ghost" program to transfer everything over to new drive.   Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 would not work correctly after that, so I have un-installed (and de-activated) the whole thing, and then re-installed (and re-activated) the entire program, starting with version 9.0.0.
I got one message of "Update Available", which downloaded and installed ok.
But then every time after that, I get the message "Update Failed" with "(could not establish connection)" I think as extra reason
However, that is not the only way to get downloads - I can go to the Downloads page
Now, my question is this:   If I have Acrobat Pro 9.2.0 on my computer, can I jump straight to version 9.5.5 (which appears to be the latest)?
Or.... Do I have to download each and every incremental version....?
    Thank you, anyone.
This has already taken me about 15 hours of work, just attempting to get back to where I started.. !
    Greg

You need to follow the Quarterly Patch system for Acrobat 9.x
    Acrobat 9.2.0 (Quarterly) -> 9.3.0 (Quarterly) -> 9.3.2 (Quarterly) -> 9.3.3 (Quarterly) ->  9.4.0 (Quarterly) -> 9.4.2 (Quarterly) -> 9.4.5 (Quarterly) -> 9.4.6 (Quarterly) -> 9.5.0 (Quarterly) -> 9.5.1 (Quarterly)-> 9.5.2 (Quarterly)-> 9.5.3 (Quarterly)-> 9.5.5 (Quarterly)

  • How do I upgrade from Acrobat 8 to the latest version of Acrobat

I was looking in the shop and it only gives the option to upgrade from 9 on.  We have 13 Acrobat 8 licenses that we would like to upgrade if possible.  Any suggestions?

    Hi cathyt873
Upgrade to Acrobat XI from Acrobat 8 is not possible. You need to purchase the full version.

  • How to remove latest version of Acrobat X

How do I remove version 10.1.10 and go back to 10.1.9?  I believe I have an error where stamps are automatically deleted in Shared reviews.  It started happening when users downloaded 10.1.10.
    Thanks,
    Josh

Thanks for the reply.  A little more detail on the error.  In a shared review when a user put a stamp on the pdf and publishes it, everything goes thru correctly, and they get the pop up response "1 new comment was published."  In the background the .XML file looks correct in the review folder.  If anyone else opens the review they can not see the stamp.  The Welcome screen will show a 1 comment by the user name, but there will not be a comment on the document or in the comment list pane.  When the user who posted the comment opens the review again their stamp will not show up and the "Publish Comments" button will be highlighted.  When they click it they get the pop up response "1 comment was deleted".  They are stuck in this cycle forever.  One odd thing we have found is that all other annotation/drawing markup tools are working correctly.  It is only the stamp tool that has this issue.

  • Acrobat Reader download link to get always the latest version

I am searching Acrobat Reader download link to get always the latest version of the product.
    Is there such a link?

Have do changed the preferences in Adobe Reader to disable automatic updation ? As normally reader will automatically prompt you to install an update as soon as it available. You can change the preferences from Edit--> Preferences-->Updater and select the option Automatically install updates.
Alternatively you can check on http://get.adobe.com/reader/ to manually download the latest version of Acrobat.
    Thanks

  • What is the current version of Acrobat.exe (Pro) file?

What is the latest version of acrobat.exe file? I use CS3 and about 10 days ago updated Acrobat Pro to 8.1.4. The acrobat.exe file itself shows as 8.1.0.137, while Secunia PSI sees it as 8.1.3.187. PSI claims the latter is not current and thus is insecure. Before I go claiming on PSI's forum that it's mislabeling acobat.exe as insecure - and it wouldn't be the first time - I wanted to verify what the current file version should be. Thanks,

Well yes, the parts/versions was the point of my post. I explicitly referred to them and to the fact that I had installed 8.1.4.
The issue has turned moot for now. PSI has admitted an error on their end, which will be fixed soon. "The problem is the updated file does not include the .exe file on which we normally use to detect the file version."

What is your operating system?  Browser?  Reader version?
    What exactly means "cannot"?

My latest version of Acrobat Reader (Win 7, 64 bit)  won't read older .pdf files, such as old downloaded bank statements.  I get a message that the program "stopped working".
Is it possible to co-install an older version of AR?

No, you can only have one Reader version installed.
I would suggest that you first try if the error disappears if you disable Protected Mode (Edit | Preferences | Security (Advanced)).
If the error persists, uninstall Reader XI and download the older version of your choice from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

  • Chrome and Firefox plug-ins not installed with latest version of Reader

I'm running OS X 10.7.2 and just installed the latest version of Acrobat Reader and would like to use the plug-ins it is supposed to come with to view PDFs in Chrome and Firefox. However, the version of Reader that I downloaded (10.1.1) doesn't seem to include the plug-ins. A few additional pieces of information:
    1) Acrobat Reader > Contents > Plug-ins contains NO files.
    2) In Reader, the Preferences > Internet > "Display PDF in browser" box is checked.
    3) In Chrome, Acrobat Reader is not listed on chrome://plugins
    4) In Firefox, Acrobat Reader is not include in the list of Plug-Ins
I already rebooted my computer, and also deleted and re-installed Adobe Reader. Now at a loss for what to do next. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!!
    Best,
