Latest version of firefox program is not compatible with windows 7

After I updated the latest version of mozilla firefox in my laptop which is a windows 7 program,it doesn't work anymore. Every time I open the firefox, the screen goes black and I can't see anything on the screen but black. And when I troubleshoot and fix the problem, it says that "COLOR SCHEMES IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH WINDOWS 7". Program compatibility is the 1.5 version or 1.0. How to fix this one? I uninstalled and already installed a new one but still to no avail the problem is still the same. Should I install the older version? Where to download the older version? It seems that in mozilla firefox website, only the latest version or the 3.0 version is available.

hello askin4me, an addon's compatibility always depends on the third-party developer adapting it to the latest firefox version. so you'd have to inquire roboform about that issue...

Due to security vulnerabilities, rolling back to Firefox 4.0.1 is not recommended. Version 3.6.18 would be a safer choice.
Here's the process to roll back:
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, download and save Firefox 3.6 to your desktop for future installation. http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all-older
Close Firefox 5.
You could install Firefox 3.6 over it (many have reported success) or you could uninstall Firefox first. If you uninstall, do not remove your personal data and settings, just the program.
Unless you have installed an incompatible add-on, Firefox 3.6 should pick up where you left off. If there are serious issues, please post back with details.
Note: If you don't have Firefox ask you before updating, you may need to set that to prevent an automatic update back to Firefox 5. Tools > Options > Advanced, Update mini-tab

Computer has Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. Firefox has run fine for over a year on this computer. Nothing was changed or updated except Windows update shows that it installed updates on Aug 19. I suspect update, either Windows or FF but lean towards windows, happened that broke things. I notice IE 10 updates, .NET framework updates and malicious software removal tool updates were installed. I have tried restarting computer, did not fix. Tried to run as admin, didn't work. I do not want to uninstall FF unless have to because of all the stuff I have in there, bookmarks, last pass passwords, etc.

When I try to start up Firefox, I immediately get a samll window with the above message. It looks like this:

Be sure to delete the Firefox program folder before (re)installing Firefox as the usual cause of this problem in that not all files got updated properly and some .ini files like application.ini and platform.ini are still older versions.

That can happen if the updater wasn't able to update (replace) all the files in the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\).
