Latest version of illustrator

I have a creative cloud subscription.  How can I make sure I have the latest version of illustrator?

Check the Adobe Application Manager.

  • Why did bounding boxes go away in the latest version of illustrator?

I just installed the latest version of AI after my machine died and for some reason I no longer have a bounding box when selecting a single shape with the selection tool. When selecting multiple shapes I do get a bounding box but not for single objects. Can anyone help me turn the bounding box feature back on or possibly revert to an older version? PLEASE HELP!!!!

    yuchangeai,
I am afraid you have come across the Live Rectangle bug which is limited to the MAC versions starting with 10.7 and 10.8, but not 10.9 (Mavericks).
So a switch to Mavericks with a reinstallation might be the way to solve it here and now.
To get round it in each case, it is possible to Expand the Live Rectangles to get normal old fashioned rectangles, or to Pathfinder>Unite, or to use the Scale Tool.
A more permanent way round that is to create normal old fashioned rectangles, after running the free script created by Pawel, see this thread with download link:

  • File open dialog doesn't appear after a period of time in latest version of Illustrator CC 2014

    Hi All,
Is anyone else having a problem doing a File > Open after using Illustrator for a while? I select File > Open and nothing happens after I've used Illustrator for a while. Doesn't seem to be any pattern to it, the File Open dialog just doesn't appear so I have to shut down and re-open Illustrator.
    Thanks,
    Ben

    Hi Sumit,
I've tried as suggested and reset preferences a few times as outlined on the help page you referenced, but I still have the same issue. If I open one file, within what seems to be a random amount of "open file" or "place" commands, the file open dialog is not invoked and I have to shut down Illustrator and re-open it. Then I can do a open or place once or twice before I'm locked out again.  Maybe a re-install of the app?
    Thanks,
    Ben

  • What is the latest version of illustrator?

    My computer says 14.0.0
    Is this an old version?
Shouldn't it be 14.0.2 or something?

Mine is 14.0.0 as well and acording to Adobe there are no new updates.

  • Illustrator won't start after updating to the latest version

After updating to the latest version of Illustrator CC (2014), I've been unabled to start the app. Kept crashing. Basically can't even open the file!

    mmyazid,
Here is the Extensions Suitcase 5 update that may solve the issue.

  • Large illustrator file doesn't open anymore, latest version 18

All of a sudden a large illustrator file (800 Mb) will not open because it says 'can't open the illustration' no further reason is given.
Opening the dil in Photoshop succeeds so does placing in Indesign and export the file to pdf and it will open in Illustrator. Though doing this I'm losing my layers (quiet a lot) and specific thickness of lines etcetera.
I'm using the latest version of Illustrator in the cloud on my mac.
Please give me a clue how to be able to use the file again!?
    Richard

    roodontwerp,
One thing often tried first is to create a new document and File>Place the corrupted one to see how much may be rescued that way (remember to tick Paste remembers Layers in the Layer palette flyout/dropdown first, and to untick it afterwards).
Here is a website where you can see whether it can rescue the file, and if it can, you may pay for a subscription to have it done,
    http://www.recoverytoolbox.com/buy_illustrator.html
    and another similar website,
    http://markzware.com/adobe-software/fix-illustrator-file-unknown-error-occurred-pdf2dtp-fi le-recovery/
As far as I remember, the former is for Win and the latter for Mac.
Here are a few pages about struggling with it yourself:

  • Is my iMac now useless as i have installed lion and i am no longer able to run cs2 photoshop and illustrator as this is all i use my mac for they should make this clear before buying it i can't afford the latest version of cs2

is my iMac now useless as i have installed lion and i am no longer able to run cs2 photoshop and illustrator as this is all i use my mac for they should make this clear before buying it i can't afford the latest version of cs2 and cant believe what a waste of money it is.

The newest version of CS2 is CS5. And it was made very clear that these applications would not run in Lion. Not only by Apple, but on all sorts of communities and websites. It has been a long time coming - PowerPC apps were outdated six years ago. Lion does not support Rosetta, and therefore not PPC apps.
you have to options. Go back to Snow Leopard or upgrade your software. (MS Office 2004 and older will not run either).
    Cheers

  • Illustrator doesn't/will not show or update to latest version

I've currently got illustrator 18.0.0 installed on my mac.
A colleague is part of our same team with the same spec mac and has an updated version of illustrator on their mac. 18.1.0
However the creative cloud app, won't show that there's an update available.
i think this is the same with indesign and photoshop too....
i've uninstalled all three apps, ai, psd, indd and yet I still have the outdated versions.
    currently running OS X 10.10 Yosemite on a new 2013 21.5in iMac.

    Chris,
You may try to reinstall using the full three step way:
Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool, and reinstall.
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html
Then restart the Creative Cloud application by quitting and relaunching it.
Then, if needed, try to upload from here:

  • How do I install latest version of iTunes when I keep getting an error message to go to Tools, Download only, then Install manually??

How do i install latest version of iTunes when I keep getting an error message to go to Tools, Download only, and install manually??

    Hi Moerdesign,
Did you downloaded and installed Photoshop and Illustrator CS6 through Creative Cloud.
After uninstalled them, Creative Cloud saying applications are "Up to Date" when not installed.
If this is the case then please perform the steps given in the help document.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/aam-lists-removed-apps-date.html
Please let me know if this is not the case.
Screenshot of the problem would be great help.

  • CC desktop app (windows) doesn't show latest versions of CC apps for installation. How do I fix it?

I've been a CC member since the start; about 6 months ago the CC desktop app on my main desktop PC stopped showing the latest versions of most applications (for example Photoshop, Illustrator, etc., only showed the 'CS' version), and stopped giving me alerts of updates. It still works fine on my (much lower spec) laptop.
I tried the various fixes (e.g. deleting the opm.db file in 'AppData/Local/adobe/OODB) but it didn't resolve the problem; I had a work around (downloading installation files from the Adobe website, and using the 'check updates' function in all of the apps).
With the recent up update, and the release of the '(2014)' versions, these work arounds no longer work. The CC Desktop app still does not show most current applications, and trying to download apps from the Adobe website sends me to the CC Desktop app, which then doesn't download the new application.
I foolishly thought a completely clean installation might help, so I uninstalled all my Adobe apps, ran the 'cleaner' app, & tried over ... things have gone from bad to worse, because I can't even get the old (pre-'2014') versions of the desktop applications to download in order to install.
My immediate problem is not having a working version of Photoshop on my main PC - the 'CS' version is available to me through the CC Desktop app, but not the 'CC' or 'CC (2014)' versions.
The spec of the PC is above the minimum spec for the 'CC' apps, so I don't think that is the problem.
    - Win 7 Pro SP 1, 64-bit
    - Intel i7-3770K (3.5Ghz quad core)
    - 16GB RAM
    - 650GB free disk space
    - etc.
Any ideas welcomed as to how to resolve this; I'm at my wits end ...
    Ian

Thanks for the reply Rave, but unfortunately that does not address my problem - my PC comfortably exceeds the minimum spec for the applications.
Of the three onward links from that page -
    (1) "For additional information please see Creative Cloud Help | Missing CC apps from my Creative Cloud Desktop app" is a dead link (>"Sorry, this page is not available")
    (2) "If you have confirmed that your computer meets and exceeds all of the listed System requirements then please see CC desktop lists applications as "Up to Date" when not installed." I had already worked through the 'solutions' on that page, culminating in the (bad) advice in 'Solution 4' which is what has got me into this current mess;
    (3) "If you have already have Download Adobe Creative Cloud application you can use Download Center : Adobe Creative Cloud for your Product Download." isn't helpful as the download links send me back to the CC Desktop app, & it still won't allow me to download the 'CC' or 'CC (2014)' applications.
Thanks again, but do you have any other suggestions?
    Ian

  • Fonts from cs3 to latest version

I just downloaded a trial of the latest version. (I have been using CS3) there are a bunch of fonts that are nor showing up now. I assumed the fonts were linked to my system, not Illustrator, Any suggestions? Many thanks!

    Hi John,
Thanks for the reply. I'm using Windows 7 and no real font management system. I would love to find a system to have more immediate control over fonts though. Any reccos?

  • What is the latest version of Keynote?

I have Mavericks and I am asking what the latest version of Keynote is? Are there any tutorials on using the latest version? Also in asking you knowledgeable folks here. Is the latest version capable of doing CAD type drawings such as Autocad? Or do I need to purchase Autocad for simple one line drawings?
Thanks for the input in advance.

The latest version is 6.2 which requires Mavericks (OS10.9) to run.
Keynote can produce simple artwork, nowhere near CAD functionality., look at the web page for details, all the illustrations were created in Keynote except the Photograph.

That's no bad thing Chuck.  It indicates that you have better things to do than constantly refresh the forum LOL.
I'm having a wee posting spree today after lacking the inclination to respond to the same old threads for the last few days.    But I do love it when people get all in a tizzy complaining about stuff that is right under their nose (so to speak).   So I guess my criteria for responding is often based as much on how big a smile it puts on my face, as to how much I am helping the OP.   Unfortunately that irreverent approach gets me into trouble at times, and one of the moderators deleted one of my illustrated replies just a few days ago.  It took me a few minutes to work out why it had been deleted.  The subtext was 'risking one eye', and I eventually realized that the implied 'risk' could definitely be seen as offensive to some people.

  • Problems with work versus home version of Illustrator from Creative Cloud

My PC at work has a Creative Cloud version of Adobe Illustrator. My home MAC also has a personal version of Creative Cloud Illustrator. Working from the cloud, these should be identical. Why, when I attempt to pull my artwork created at work onto my personal computer, does my home version claim the art was created in a newer version? The layers are flattened and I am not able to adjust. I have downloaded the latest version... there should be no newer versions available.

Working from the cloud does not automatically make the versions identical. You still need to update.
Can you check "About Illustrator" what it says about the version?

  • Upgrading to the latest version of Firefox would cost me about $2,500 so why am I mad?

I have a Mac G5 with OS 11.4.11. In order for me to upgrade to the latest version of Firefox I would have to install a new system. If I install a new system I have to install all new programs. Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, GoLive and other CS programs, plus PowerPoint, QuarkXpress , and many others. I can't afford to upgrade. I really like Firefox but what am I suppose to do?

Firefox 4 and later require a Mac with an Intel processor and OS X 10.6 (Firefox 16 runs on OS X 10.5).
