What is the latest version of Nokia Maps available for Nokia 5230. I currently have 3.06 wk 11. Can any one help me please.

I just dropped $550 on a Nokia 808 Pureview, with the assumption that I will have good GPS software...
Now Nokia is abandoning map updates for symbian?
I will be outraged if this is the case..

Nokia 6210 Navigator - which version of Nokia maps...

Hi !
I`ve tried to upgrade my Nokia 6210 Navigator from Nokia maps 2.0 to Ovi maps 3.01 but it
doesn´t seems to work.
If i try to upgrade it with the old Nokia map updater it just says: Cannot get enough information about the phone unspecified error
Can anyone tell me if this is possible.
I also get a error message when i try to use this file that ovikovi posted (http://static.s2g.gate5.de/nokiamaps-client/nokia_ maps_3.01_09wk44_b01_s60_3.1_lm_rom.sis)
The error massage that shows up in the phone is: It doesn´t work to install this file, the unit is built in!
And in Ovi Suite it says: The file is in use. Another application is using nokia_ maps_3.01_09wk44_b01_s60_3.1_lm_rom.sis
I´ve also tried to uninstall the version og Nokia maps that is installed on the phone but that doesn´t seems to be an option !
Any one who has a clue of something that can solve my problem.

The above link has been working perfectly on my 6210 navigator.
For the technically savvy, googling ovi maps "unsupported devices" will teach you how to install maps 3.03 and 3.04.

Cannot use the latest version of Nokia Software Up...

We have found out that the NOD32 PC antivirus application contains a feature called “Web protection” which blocks the Nokia Software Updater from being upgraded correctly. Users of Nokia Ovi Store may experience similar problems.
The problem is visible if you have this feature enabled while the Nokia Software Updater tries to automatically upgrade to the latest version. The NOD32 blocks the download, which seems to last forever.
We will fix this in the next Nokia Software Updater release, but the current version will have the problem and cannot get over it without one of these actions:
Disable web protection procedure
Start NOD32 Antivirus.
Select: ”Setup” and next ”Antivirus and antispyware protection”
Change “Web access protection" status to disable.
Update to the latest version of Nokia Software Updater or Nokia Ovi Suite.
Uninstall Nokia Software Updater from your PC
Select "Start" and "Control Panel" to uninstall the Nokia Software Updater or Ovi Suite
Go to http://europe.nokia.com/support/download-software to download the latest versions.

I think I should add:
It seems that some people do not know this as well, so I might as well post here. BitDefender Antivirus also blocks Ovi Suite and Nokia Software Updater.
Symptoms:
1. When using Ovi Suite to update, the software gets stuck at "preparing to download"
2. On NSU, It gets stuck at the NSU startup graphic "preparing to start"
To solve: Manually add Ovi Suite and/or NSU to the allowed programs on BitDefender
1. Open BitDefender on Advanced View
2. Choose the Game/Laptop mode tab
3. Select Manage Games
4. Click on the "+" icon
5. Browse your PC's C drive to where the .exe file of Ovi Suite is. Usually it is in C>Program Files>Nokia>Ovi Suite>NokiaOviSuite.exe
For NSU, C>Program Files>Nokia>Nokia Software Updater>nsu_ui_client.exe
6. Enable Game Mode for the program.
After following the preceding steps, Ovi Suite Updater and NSU should work on BitDefender protected PCs.

Fail to install latest version of Ovi Maps

I tried to install Ovi maps 3.03 but during the installation, it says there's not enough memory and it asks me to delete something from the C:. But I didn't really put much in C: and I don't know what I can delete without affecting the system.
So, when I open "Maps" now, the old version still pops out (it says 3.01 when I click into "About"),
but apparently the installer in the PC suite thinks I have 3.03 already.
What should I do?

I just saw your post that the old version opens, but the ovi suite says that the latest version is already installed. I had exactly the same problem a few days ago: the error was that the stupid software installed the new maps version as a seperate program, instead of updating the old maps version. Everytime I tried to launch maps, it still opened the old version, and when I tried to reinstall the new one again (because I thought that it didn't work the first time), my phone would tell me that there isn't enough free space left. why Indians are neglected it has been days since latest version of N97 firmware has been launched by nokia till date we are struck in 11.0.021 why this discrimination ?

not a discrimination but nokia work with operators in each region to adjust the update so expect delays of weeks or even months from region to region unless nokia changes its update deployement plan

New build version of Nokia Maps

hi guys :-)
new build 4503 is out !! Previous was 3204.
But i've got a problem, it doesn"t want to install, error message says : "failed installation, it already installed on the device"
I try to delete "city" folder as previous version say to be back to the ROM first versions, but no changes.... :-(
Any ideas ? Thx in advance.

I'm encountering the same stupid "Unable to install component is built in" error when trying to upgrade Maps 2.0 from currently 3204 up to the latest 4503. Really annoying issue because it seems like it isn't a common problem on all N82s.
I'm still thinking about a programming mistake on this latest .sis package... need to be corrected & re-uploaded by Nokia.
Btw, N82 (0552537) v30.0.019 here.

How to get the latest Version of Interface Mapping

Hi
I made some changes in IR, and when I am sending the Request...as per Monitor..it is not picking up the latest Interface Mapping Object. I am checking it from Trace in Monitor and then cross checking it with Object Version ID in Repository for Interface Mapping.
I cleaned all the cache as well (from Design, Config and also from Admin), but still I am seeing old version id.
Any suggestion....?

Right now I do not have access to XI system but I remember these are the places you can check.
Did you go to http://host:5<sysnr>00/rep/start
There click on the Administration, and log on using XISUPER. Click on Cache and there is a drop down for mapping programs list. Check that out.

Need help with latest version of Google Maps

Have the 8700 series Blackberry, google maps 2.0.3 worked fine for last 2 years, upgraded to 2.3.2 yesterday and the application downloaded but wont run. Starts to run and then get the following message:
'Network unavailable: This application requires a data connection and some Blackberry devices require reconfiguration to work properly'.
Can connect to the Internet using browser just fine, all other features of the blackberry working just fine.
Any help would be appreciated.
By the way, did already uninstall and reinstall the application a few times. I wish I had kept the old version just in case.

Seems that new version GoogleMaps does not work on your device.
You can install old version on your device.
If old version does not work after uninstalling new version and installing old version do the following:
Backup your sensitive data via Blackberry Desktop Manager.
Wipe your device memory:
Go to: Options - Security Options - General Settings
open menu and select "Wipe handheld"

Tracking option in Latest Nokia Maps gone

Hi everyone, Ive updated my Nokia Maps on N95. Used their 3 days free trial, and now the tracking option has disappeared from the route menu. On the old version you could plan a route from A to B, and instead of Navigating there, you could use the Start Tracking option. This seems to be no longer available. Now if I plan a route, it wants me to buy the navigation stuff. Has any one else had this problem. The maps app is practically useless now unless you want to buy a licence key.

I too was made a victim of Nokia's failure to inform 'Maps' users of the lack of Tracking capabilities in the latest version of Nokia Maps.
I couldn't have been more dissapointed with the latest installment of a program which i had previously been very happy with! My reasons are simply,
1) I don't think the interface is accesible as that in previous versions of Nokia Maps
2) The lack of tracking capabilities
Like so many of you in this discussion i updated Maps and found i disliked the update and wanted to revert back to the latter version, easier said than done but i managed to do it...
First I performed a Hard Reset (*#7780#): WARNING, i recommend backing up the phones data first, i found this out the hard way!
After setting the country, time, date etc i found that Nokia Maps and a number of other Applications had been replaced by another set of icons and were named differently, eg. Nokia Maps now couldn't be opened and was called Smart2Go.
To rectify the apparently worsened problem i downloaded the Nokia Software Updater which informed me that although i had the latest Firmware i could reinstall it - i did this and PROBLEM SOLVED!
I hope by sharing my experience others might have their problem solved. I think the solution lies in reinstalling the phones software on Software Updater.

Nokia Maps 2.0 4503 3.2 is the current release version for the N96. However there is also V3.0 beta available from Betalabs.

Nokia maps 2.0 doesn't start with FW 210.34.75(E90...

Hi all, the latest version of Nokia maps 2.0 all of a suddent doesn't work with new FW 210.34.75, I had to reinstall the previous version of maps 1.0 for it to load up again. What's the deal with FW 210.34.75, is it incompatible or what else?

Sorry i cant be of any more help but I have had no problems with Maps 2.0 and FW210.34.75. It installed and worked fine on mine. There was however 2 versions of maps 2.0 for phones with and without maps already installed. May be worth trying to re-download the installer and try again.

Getting Nokia Maps without Map Loader

I just upgraded to the latest version of Nokia Maps, but when I ran it it said it needed to delete my old maps as they were incompatible. I did that, and then found that Map Installer won't run on my Mac as we have got operating system Tiger 10.4 not Leopard. There were no warnings.
Is there another way to get the maps apart from using mobile download time ? I once found a website that allowed you to get the maps manually and copy them to the phone, but can't find it anywhere. I do have Nokia Multimedia Transfer

Because the old maps have been deleted, I now have no navigation at all. If I run the new Ovi Maps 3.03 I see the GPS fixes, but there is no map underlying it. There seems to be no way to download a map even using data charges.
I have broadband but can't find any way to get at the map files directly, unless the previously mentioned site gets updated.
There seems to be no way I can get back my old maps, or the new ones.
Does anyone know how I can get the UK map directly from the phone, without using a computer ?

Upgrade Nokia Maps with Linux

I don't use Windows. Is it possible to install latest version of Nokia Maps 3.0 on my 6210 Navigator with Linux? I mean where can I download sis file? Then I can transfer it on phone via USB or BT and install.
May be I have to buy Windows to upgrade phone software?

The Nokia Maps Updater is currently only compatible with Windows Operating System (XP and Vista). This would be the main method of updating to Maps 3.01.
On some devices (e.g.N97) Maps updates are available via the Software Update application in the Device Menu. It might be worth checking if you have this available. (note that this requires donwloading data over the air, and so to avoid costs it is recommended to connect via WLAN)
The .sis file is not available as a seperate download for Maps 3.01
An alternative is to download the Beta version of Maps 3.03, however please note that Nokia Care line cannot offer support for beta products. If you are interested please check out http://betalabs.nokia.com/ovi-maps
