Latest WRT610N Firmware Released 7/28/09 Breaks Mac Support.

Applied the latest WRT610N Linksys router firmware released on 7/28/09 and Mac support is now severly impaired. Web pages load FAR FAR more slowly. So please avoid it. It works fine with PC but not Mac.

It is slower on N, slower on G and even slower when connected via ethernet. Slow web browsing all the way around.

  • Latest WRT610N Firmware Breaks Mac OS Support

Applied the 7/28/09 firmware update to my 610N and now Mac OS 10.5.7 Safari browsing is dog slow.   PCs seem to work OK.  Avoid this firmware at all costs if you use Mac.  Does anyone know if it is possible to get the prior firmware version somewhere?

Did you reset the router after upgrading the firmware....if not then Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...

  • WRT610N Firmware Release Notes

    Hi All,
Where can I find the release notes for the new firmware version? It is not clearly stated in the linksys website (http://www.linksysbycisco.com/US/en/support/WRT610N/download).
Even though I selected my hardware version 1.0, I can only see on the release note the v2.0 as the initial release (which is obvious that is not true).
    Regards,
    AK

The release notes are confusing. This firmware is supposed to be working on both hardware v1 and v2, but firmware v2.0 is about the 4th published firmware for the WRT610N v1. Hopefully, they will correct it so that users don't think they have mistakenly downloaded the v2 firmware (even though in this case they are the same).

  • N80 new firmware release date and wishlist

It has been no update on firmware since the latest release V.5.0719.0.2 for N80 since 24 May 2007. With so many models rolling out and firmware revision released for other new and old models, one might wonder if N80 is being forgotten and the firmware revision is put on-hold forever in cold storage?!
There has been so much discussion on the expectation for last firmware release but what we get is only product stability without signficant boost of functionality and performance. I believe this has made many proud owner of N80 phone waiting with a long neck.
After reading through the forum, I have summarised some of the common expectation on the next release (hopefully) in a wishlist below. All is welcome to provide input on the improvement they expect in next firmware release. It is also hope that any status of firmware upgrade for N80 news to be shared here.
    The N80 new firmware wishlist
    i) AD2P bluetooth profile support
ii) Nokia Maps application support (currently, N80 is not support model for Nokia Maps application)
iii)Enhanced digital music player (similar with N73 ME with album art browsing)
iv) Music file IDD tag editing (change artist, song title, genre information)
    v) Video ringtone
    vi) Skype VOIP support
vii)Mymobilesite.net intergration for seamless moblogging interface
viii)Auto birthday reminder storing from Contact entry
Thats all I can think of for now.

    Hi Jacob,
Thanks for your quick response but if you go to the download section of Nokia Maps, N80 is not listed for selection on Nokia Maps setup file download. It is obvious that the compability page does show N80 is supported but which setup version to choose? I myself have Nokia Maps installed previously. But I believe there are new feature and interface in the latest version of Nokia Maps.
Yes, mymobilesite.net is available for N80, but perhaps the new firmware can include it in the new firmware release to save other the hassle to install
    something to add:
ix) HSDPA mobile internet surfing speed (3.5G?)
    was: 3310--> N80 v5.0719.0.2--> N82 v31.0.016; now: 5800xm v40

  • Wrt610n firmware upgrade v1.00.03 B15 and subsequent loss of mediaserver functionality on xbox

Okay, this is going to take a while to explain, but if you can stick with me to the end and have a helpful suggestion, you will be my hero.
I have today upgraded the firmware on my wrt610n router from the FW_WRT610N_1.00.00.18_20080816_code.bin which is version v1.00.00 B18 to the most recent FW_WRT610N_1.00.03.15_20090514.bin which is version 1.00.03 B15.  Since this upgrade, the UPnP media server of the wrt610n router will not function with the xbox 360, nor with the Windows Media Player. It still works on the PS3 though...hmmm...the plot thickens.
Both of these features worked just fine before the upgrade.  On the xbox, the wrt610n:mediaserver would show up as a selectable source when going into the Video, Music, or Picture libraries.  Similarly, Windows Media Player would recognize the UPnP mediaserver as a source for streaming showing up as wrt610n:mediaserver.  I have a PS3 and sure enough, the wrt610n:mediaserver was a selectable source there as well.  All was good (mediaserver wise).  Why did I upgrade at all? you may ask.  That is a whole different story regarding a host of other non-media server issues with the NAS functionality, transfer speeds, and a few other problems that I won't go into any further.
Now let me explain the steps I've taken and some of the knowledge I have about this, so you don't think that I haven't done my research.  I disconnected the USB hard drive (I have a Seagate FreeAgent Desktop 500GB external hd) before attempting anything.  I also disconnected my laptop from Wi-Fi and ethernet-hardwired him into the router.  After the successful flash of the firmware to 1.00.03 B15,  I did a hard reset of the router.  This was done by holding the reset button for 30 seconds.  I let the router "bootup" and also let the laptop acquire a LAN connection.  Internet connection was successful.  I then unplugged the router and waited for about 30 seconds and then plugged it back in and again my laptop acquired a connection all the way through to the internet.  I checked the xbox at this point, hardwired him into the router and was able to sign in to xbox live.  Going good so far.
I plugged my USB hard drive into my laptop and deleted .storage_info hidden file to start from scratch with storage configuration.  I did NOT attempt to restore a saved backup configuration of my previous settings on the router as this can cause problems (especially with the mediaserver stuff).  I downloaded the Seagate drive manager software onto my PC and ran a quick diagnostic to check the hard disk.  This was successful.  I also used the software to change the power save mode timer on the hard drive to Never, so it would never go to low-power standby.  I did this because there were issues with version 1.00.02 B10 (the firmware I skipped (another long story)) where the nas functionality will only work up until the period of time of inactivity that initiates low power standby.  Once in standby, the router cannot wake it back up and the drive will appear disconnected until you unplug and re-plug the hard disk USB port.  Not a usable solution.
Anyways, at this point the USB hard disk was ready for the router.  I safely disconnected it from my laptop, and plugged it into the router.  The router recognized the hard drive after a few seconds.  I created a user with the same name as my Windows logon and same password, assigned to the Admin group and I tried creating a share of the entire partition and linked that share to the admin group.  This is for easier time logging into the share when it is a mapped network drive and reconnecting at logon.  This was all successful.
Now comes the media server (remember, everything is still hardwired).  I went to the media server sub tab under Storage and enabled UPnP and saved settings.  I then went into Specify Folder to Scan and chose the Music folder and assigned the name as "music" and created it.  That folder then appeared as a "folder to scan".  At that point I saw that the hard drive was "working" which tells me that the mediaserver was indexing the contents for later streaming.  When the drive stopped its I/O work, I tried looking for the mediaserver as a source in both the xbox and Windows media player, but to no avail.  This is the crux of my problem.  The mediaserver is not showing up in either interface for me to choose it to stream content.  However, when I tried to find it on the PS3, it was there!  I was able to use the mediaserver on the PS3 and it streamed the music like a champ.  It showed up as a source called WRT610N.  You can get some information from the PS3 and I see the ip address and manufacturer is PacketVideo and the Model is TwonkyMedia.  I went back to the xbox and Windows Media Player, but it was still not there.  **bleep**!  I tried manually forcing a scan of the contents in the firmware, but that didn't help.
Now I realize that twonkyvision is the 3rd party media server for wrt610n routers.  We also used to be able to access the twonkyvision web interface by going to port 9000 (example: http://192.168.1.1:9000/ ), but that access was taken away by the previous firmware release v1.00.02 B10.  I used to get that "twonkyvision license is expired" crap a while ago (another long story).  This access is still gone in this most recent firmware release.
My hypothesis is that the newer TwonkyMedia server has used a UPnP standard that neither the xbox, nor Windows Media Player support right now, but the PS3 does.  I will most likely have to go back to my previous working version of the router firmware unless one of you brave souls can help.
And there you have it.  Any takers?!

It's Great that it has been resolved...
Just make sure that your Router's Wireless Settings are adjusted properly so that you do not face any problems regarding wireless...
    2.4GHz Wireless Settings -
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...
Leave username blank & in password use admin in lower case...
For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
    Click on the Wireless tab
    - Here select manual configuration...Wireless Network mode should be mixed...
    - Provide a unique name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box in order to differentiate your network from your neighbours network...
    - Set the Radio Band to Standard-20MHz and change the Standard channel to 11-2.462GHz...Wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on Save Settings...
Please make a note of Wireless Network Name (SSID) as this is the Network Identifier...
    For Wireless Security : -
Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the Wireless security mode to WEP, Encryption should be 64 bit.Leave the passphrase blank, don't type in anything...
Under WEP Key 1 type in any 10 numbers please(numbers only and no letters eg: your 10 digit phone number) and click on save settings...
Please make a note of WEP Key 1 as this is the Security Key for the Wireless Network...
    Click on Advanced Wireless Settings
Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304,
Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 >>Click on "Save Settings"...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...

  • Firmware Release Confus

There are two ways to acquire the latest firmware downloads for your Creative Zen (flash) MP3 player.
One way is to go to Creative's "Support" then "Downloads" and choose your player type and download
and install the firmware update. The other way is to use the convienent "MP3 Recovery Tool".
There are several ZEN MP3 flash players MISSING? from the support/download page - The 2 GB & 32 GB.
There are several ZEN MP3 flash players MISSING? from the "MP3 Recovery Tool" - The 2 GB & 32 GB.
There are several ZEN MP3 flash players MISSING? from the "MP3 Recovery Tool Sticky" - The 2 GB & 32 GB
Does this firmware release <.2.0> ALSO applies to the 2 GB & 32 GB Zen's?
If so, Creative please update your "supported players" under "MP3 Recovery Tool" & "Support"/"Downloads" and the "MP3 Recovery Tool Sticky"
If not, tell the forum users where is the latest firmware for their 2 GB & 32 GB Zen MP3 players?

I have both the 2gb and 4gb Zen and the firmware are basically the same. The Support/Downloads of the Singapore site actually shows the full range from 2gb to 32gb and I am not sure why they are not reflected in the US site.
    See http://sg.creative.com/support/downloads/?

  • Class mx.collections.ISort missing from latest framework Maven release

Following migration from Flex 3.3, I had to modify one of my class that implements ICollectionView. This interface had changes in its API that require to replace:

Using FLex SDK 4.5 bundled with FlashBuilder 4.5, my code is compiling just fine. However, when I build my project using Maven, I have the following errors:
D:\dev\vanguard\trubk.eclipse37.flex45\core\src\main\flex\com\taleo\vanguard\controls\diag ram\HierarchicalCollectionView.as(147): col: 30 Error: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: ISort.

I'm using the latest flex framework release in the Maven Repository:
    <dependency>

      <artifactId>framework</artifactId>
      <version>4.5.0.18623</version>
      <type>pom</type>

mx.collections.ISort interface is missing from the release and definition of mx.collections.ICollectionView is different from SDK bundled and Maven Repo ...
    What can I do ?
EDIT: There are a lot of other differences between SDK available in Maven Repository and downloadable SDK ...

Yup. The source files are simply missing from the 4.5 source releases....I'm hitting the same issue when trying to rebuild the SDK with flexcover changes applied.

    WHEN:
The 2.2.2 firmware version is available via the Cloud today.   This will be posted on CCO shortly.
    HOW:

Please see the below release notes for upgrade instructions.
Release notes for the Cisco UC320W 2.2.2 firmware release can be found here.

I strongly agree with you Donald. Most other vendors kit will support this feature. The ability to add/remove dialed digits for things like carrier LCR would also be very useful on top of automatic route selection(ARS).
    For example,
    End user dials 9 01392XXXXXXXX
But the PBX actually sends to carrier 162 01392XXXXXXXX
(162 is the access code recognised by BT for Energis LCR)
    Thanks

I have noticed that there is a release candidate firmware release available for the SA500 series. What improvements are being made in the next SA500 firmware release?

The improvements are around VPN and NAT.
The best way to get more details is to look at the release notes which come with the RC1 trial.
You can send me a private message and I can forward you the release notes if you preferred.

  • No dashboard access after Firmware Release 1.05.36

I purchased the EX4 about a week and a half ago. Hooked it up and all went fine. From dashboard I did firmware updates. First two went fine as I was able to get back in via dashboard. Then I did the FR 1.05.36 (the one that has you unplug) When it came back up I could no longer get to it via dashboard. The following is what I observed: No web access with browsers using ip address or machine name after Firmware Release 1.05.36 (7/8/2015) Windows Explorer shows WDMyCloudEX4 under Media Devices and storage. Public, Smartware and Timemachinebackup folders shown and accessible as well. I can copy files to it and retrieve files from it. WD My Cloud errors with failed to connect message. But it also shows Previously Connected Devices which is WDMyCloudEX4 and shows correct ip address of EX4 (same ip as shown on front display). WD Discovery shows EX4 Browse Network shares works but configure does not. Again no web access. mcp4_windows_setup cannot access EX4 either. Twonkey Media Server is accessable and functions just fine. So I technally don't have access to EX4 via dashboard. So evewrything works just fine except for dashboard.

Yes I have turned off and back on and performed 5 sec reset with paperclip. But I have been reading about a 40 sec reset. Is that for real and do you perform? I read many different ways to do it.
