Lauching Workbooks without Analyzer BI 7.0

Guys,
Any ideas/suggestions on Lauching Workbooks without installing Analyzer in local machine.
Thanks.

I don't think there is a way to achieve what you exactly want but you can call BW API from VBA program.
Thus, you can display BW data in an excel sheet without any installation.

  • Cannot open Query/Workbook with Analyzer on my PC

    Hi,
I can't open queries or workbook on my computer. When I click on the icon "open", nothing happens !!!!!
1st - I don't understand why the icon description is in german : "Offnen"???
2nd - here is my configuration: windows 7, Excel 2007 (student pack) and SAP BW 710
I can execute Query Designer, Crystal Report... ...  My only problem concerns the Analyzer.
    Could you please help me?
FYI, I installed the note 1121263 (= the zip file "lockbackRegKey.msi" on my PC)

    Hi,
The reason is that you use Windows 7 and your colleagues use Windows XP.
Official support for Windows 7 will start with SAP GUI for Windows 7.20 only.
At this moment, only a higher patch of GUI 710 could work well.
You have to use SAP GUI for Windows 7.10 patchlevel 15 (or a
newer patch) and the most currently available patches for all
other SAP Frontend components in use by you (like BI Frontend,
    BW Frontend).
Besides, Bex3.x tools can no longer be used on Windows 7 with GUI710,
and you need to use BI7.0 Bex addon for GUI710 instead.
You can download them from SAP service market place with the following patch (if you don't have
authorization to access, you may need to contact your system administrator):
    http://service.sap.com/swdc:
Support Packages and Patches->SAP Frontend Components->
SAP GUI FOR WINDOWS->SAP GUI FOR WINDOWS 7.10 CORE
->SAP GUI FOR WINDOWS 7.10 CORE -> get the latest patch
    http://service.sap.com/swdc->Support Packages and Patches
    ->SAP Frontend Components->BI ADDON FOR SAP GUI->
BI 7.0 ADDON FOR SAP GUI7.10->BI 7.0 ADDON FOR SAP GUI7.10
    -> get the latest patch

  • Unable to refresh workbook in analyzer

    Hi,
If I click on the refresh button in analyzer to refresh my workbook, its not working.
We are using BW 7.0 and Excel is 2007.
Any solution for this issue ?
    Regards,
    Arun Yadav

    Hi Arun,
The refresh Button (with a refresh Symbol) is not actually a refresh button to refresh the Workbook.
This button pauses/ un pause the automatic refresh that will happen when you manually type in the filter values.
You can click on the variable screen button to refresh the work book.
    Regards.

  • Error In WorkBook Bex Analyzer : Messages available

    Hello Experts,
When i open a Workbook, I have this message in the status bar:
"Messages available; double-click to display them"
When I double click, I have a pop-up window with warning "there is a condition.., results row supress..."
Our client don't want to see the message ""Messages available; double-click to display them", When he opens his workbook.
How can we do this, Please?
    I found this link:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/89/127f4a697c49a7896f18a45dd30e8b/content.htm
    But it doesen't work!
    Many thanks.
    Best regards,
    Amine

    Hi Amine,
    Option 1)
Try this - there is an option called "Show messages for problem analysis" in the behavior tab of global settings. try to uncheck that if it is checked.
    or
    Option 2)
Try Note 1009903 - Suppressing messages for all queries
    or
    Option 3)
Use tcode RSRT and type in the tcode "SUPPR_ALL" and check all the suppress messages.
    Hopefully you will succeed.

  • Workbook without Assigned Roles

    Dear BI Experts,
I need your help to assign a workbook in the workbook storage of the server, back into a roles folder.  Here is my scenario:
I created a new workbook and assigned it to a role in Dev.
My Dev system got a system refresh from my Prod system.  Before the system refresh, I saved my workbook into a transport, and then re-applied it back to Dev after system refresh.  The issue here is that I did not save the roles folder of the workbook into the transport.
So now, after I re-applied the transport to Dev, the workbook exist in the server, but not in the role folder.  When I ran BEx and try to find the workbook in Dev, it could not find the workbook.
I ran RSWB_ROLES_REORG program, and the workbook is listed as Workbook in the workbook storage, but not in any roles folder (Unused).  I also ran function module RSBB_WORKBOOK_AGR_GET and did not see the role in the E_T_AGR table.
Please provide me the steps to assign the workbook in the server to a role folder.
Thanks in advance for your help in this matter.
    Kevin--

You can assign the workbook to a role directly in the Role Maintenance screen (tcode PFCG).
Go to the Menu tab there in change mode and choose the folder into which you want to put the workbook. Click on the 'Report' button at the top of the Menu screen, then choose the 'BW Report' radio button.
You can then enter the 'Report ID' (i.e., Workbook ID) of the desired workbook. (You may want to look this up in advance in the Admin Workbench using the Metadata Repository --> Workbook option.)
The workbook will then appear in the role menu with a "default" name of something like "New Report", which can be changed to the correct description for the workbook.
    Hope this helps...

  • Saving Workbooks without query results in NW2004s BEx SP10

    Hi All,
We are currently setting up all of our workbooks, but cannot find the setting which deletes all the query results in the workbook which we had in BW3.5.
Use to be in Tools > All Queries in Workbook > Delete Results.
Noticed another post about this, but could not find the answer.
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks
    Matt

Put in an OSS note about this. The feature may be returned to BI7 in the future. It has not been carried through from BW3.5.
You should be warey though and ensure that your sensitive workbooks have the data manually deleted out of them as you can find the workbook with the find utility pretty easily and view the data which has been previously saved. With correct permissions in place you cannot reload fresh data though.

  • Analyzer 7.0: Excel add-ins not loaded on opening workbook

    Hi all,
we are having a problem with some of our workbooks which are using additional functions from a standard microsoft add-in (Analysis Toolpak - function "mduration" for exmaple).
The add-in is checked as "load" under Extras->Add-Ins.
Opening the workbook without analyzer is just fine.
When opening BEx Analyzer 7.0 and then the Excel workbook, all functions from the add-in (such as "mduration") only return #NAME, as if the add-in is not loaded properly.
Using BEx Analyzer 3.5 this DOES work, however.
We are on SAP GUI 7.10 PL11 with BI 7.0 Add-On SP10. Excel version is 2003.
Does anyone kow whether this is a known problem or if a solution exists (maybe with latest BI Add-On SP)?
    Thanks,
    Hendrik

  • BW Browser: Open 3.x and 7.0 Query/Workbook - Issue with 7.0 Workbook

    Dear All,
We migrated to BI 7.0 in April. New Queries, Workbooks etc. we would like to create with the new functionality of 7.0. Currently the users are using the BW Browser to navigate and select their Queries/Workbooks/WebServices etc for their Business Scenarios. In a long term we will replace the BW Browser by the Portal solution, but this is planned by mid next year. So, we need the BW Browser functening for 3.x and 7.0.
    Some more background information:
A typical Workstation has the following Settings:
    u2022Windows Vista Business 6.0.6001 Service Pack 1 Build 6001
    u2022Microsoft Office Excel  2007 SP1 MSO
    u2022Patch 5 für 3.x bw350gui710_5-10004473
    u2022Patch 902 für 7.0 bi710sp09p_902-10004472
    u2022BEXBrowser 3.5 Version 3571.5.0.54 3571.5.0.143
In BW in transaction RRMX_CUST the flag is set for the option, that automatically the correct Version for BEX Analyzer is started. The user parameter RRMX_VERSION is not set. So not overriding the global customizing setting.
From the SAP Easy Access Menu it's possible to open 3.x Workbooks as well as 7.0 Workbooks without any issue automatically in the correct BEX Analyzer version.
The ISSUE is: that from the BW Browser only the 3.x Workbook is opened correctly. If you open an 7.0 Workbook an VB Runtime Error is coming up (13 - Type incompatibility).
I checked already the OSS and searched in the SDN Forum but haven't been ale to find any answer to this issue.
Does anybody of you have experiences with BW Browser and 3.x + 7.0 Workbooks?
    Many thanks and best regards,
    Peggy

Found the solution for this issue. See OSS note 1311770. The note itself does not deal with starting 7.0 WBs from BExBrowser but when you implement the suggestion (setting a registry entry on the client PC) BExBrowser is starting the correct Analyzer version for 3.5 WB und 7.0 WB.

  • Workbooks only able to 'save as' while system is not open

    Hi Gurus,
My client has been working with it's BW system fully opened for the last three years.
Users could then access a workbook through BEx Analyzer (wether it was in the role or favorites area) make any neccessary changes and then save it.
Now that we have closed the system through SCC4 users claim that they are forced to 'save as' every time they make changes to any workbook. They simple 'save' option is now disabled (again, it doesn't matter if the workbook is in the role, or favorites area).
I've looked through other posts but they don't state clearly wether they 'save' or 'save as'.
I have checked that a SAP_ALL configured user is also unable to modify the workbooks and 'save' them, so I guess it's not a matter of authorization.
Is it really the way BEx Analyzer works?
Is it possible to regain the ability of simple 'saving' the workbooks without having to 'save as'.
    Regards,
    Gonzalo

I can confirm those activities are checked and active.
SAP Note - 1129764 --> Users can actually see their original workbooks and the ones that have been 'saved as', they just want to be able to modify and just 'save' the original ones.
SAP Note - 1052085 --> This doesn't fit either, users have 'save' button disabled and can only click on save us. Besides we are already running on SP.14
Last note says: "Workbooks are not saved in BW systems that are not changeable.".
This is a statement that bothers me, indeed my client is set closed.
    And SCC4 shows these paramenters:
Changes and Transports for client-specific Objects
       --> No changes allowed
    Cross-Client Object Changes
--> No changes to repository and cross-client customizing objs
Protection: Client copier and comparison Tool
       --> X Protection level 1: No overwriting
    CATT and eCATT Restrictions
--> eCATT and CATT not allowed
    Restrictions:
    (both unchecked).
Are you certain that it is possible to save them while the client is not opened? I'm starting to think that it just can't be done
    Thank you for your help.
    Regards,
    Gonzalo

  • Unable to find activated workbooks

    Hi All,
I have activated set of workbooks based on infocube 0SD_C01 from BI Content. But when i try to open activated workbooks using Analyzer,
i am not able to find the activated workbooks neither in Roles nor in Favorites also not using FIND option.
I am able to run the workbooks from RRMXP tcode (but all text are in German) and RSRWORKBOOK table contains the entry for the activated workbooks.
I tried to open the workbooks from both 3.5 & 7.0 BEx but no luck. I searched SDN for the same and couldnt located appropriate thread.
Is this related to authorization? Could you please help me in resolving this issue?
    Regards,
    Pruthvi R

    Hi Murali,
Thanks for your reply. the problem is solved by adding the roles attached to workbook, to the user.
Some workbooks doesnot have any roles with it and they are not visible to some users. Any idea which authrization is required to view the workbooks without specific role?

  • Authorization objects to avoid users to access workbook design mode

    Hi all,
Does anyone knows an authorization object that stops the user to enter workbooks design mode?
We use workbook protection but this disables most of the workbook properties.
    Many thanks,
    Mazzz

    Hi..
see this thread.. hope it helps..
How to prevent workbook users from saving workbooks
You must set up security to control who can save workbooks, where they can be saved, and which workbooks appear in the BEx Browser for a specific user.
Workbooks can also be created in the BEx Analyzer. After executing a query, choose Save u2192 Save as new workbook.
    Securing Workbooks
In order to save a workbook, a user needs two authorization objects. The two objects listed below are the minimum authorizations a user needs to save workbooks.
    S_GUI: Authorization for GUI activities
    S_BDS_DS: Authorizations for document set
Using both S_GUI and S_BDS_DS will enable a user to save workbooks to their Favorites folder.
The authorization object S_GUI has one field, Activity. The activity field must be set to 60. For S_BDS_DS, the user needs activities 03 and 30. The Class Type field should be set to OT.
    Saving Workbooks to Roles
If a user wants to save aworkbook to a location where it can be easily accessed by others, they need to save to a Role rather than saving the workbook in their own Favorites folder. Saving to a Role means saving to a security role.
You may want to set up roles specifically for saving workbooks. You can then assign the role to all parties who need to share workbooks.
Another option is to not allow users to save workbooks, but rather only allow power users to save workbooks. This is done to maintain the roles and to ensure that the workbooks are manageable. This also prevents users from changing workbooks saved by other users.
In order to save workbooks to roles, a user needs:
    S_USER_AGR: Authorizations: Role check
    S_USER_TCD: Transactions in roles
The authorization object S_USER_AGR has two fields:
    Activity and Role Name.
Activity field -Must have at least values 01, 02 and If the user can delete workbooks, they will also need value 06.
Role Name, you should enter the specific roles you have created for saving
workbooks. Use proper naming convention for roles so that the roles can be restricted pretty easily.  The role name is the name of a role that will be used to hold workbooks. Saving a workbook to a role actually updates the Menu portion of a role, so object S_USER_AGR is a required object.
Authorization object S_USER_TCD has one field
Transaction Code. The user needs value RRMX in this field.
Once a workbooks is saved, the data and the layout is saved in the workbook. For security reasons, we recommend that users save workbooks without the data. To save the workbook without the data, the users selects from following menu path from the BEx Analyzer: Tools > All queries in Workbooks > Delete results

  • Converting 3.5 Workbooks to 7.x

Hi, I have the 7.x Migration Book from SAP Press and nowhere in the book does it mention anything about converting BEx Workbooks to 7.x.
Do we or should we convert the Workbooks as well to 7.x?
What is the Benefit of converting Workbooks to 7.x?
    Thanks,

In my current environment, we are using BEx 7.0 Analyzer workbooks (without template) on BEx 3.5 queries.
The BEx 7.0 Analyzer has many good features found at the "Workbook" Level
Formating the table display is much easier in BEx 7.0 Analyzer .
The ability to connect charts to queries is also powerful.
    Give it a try!

  • Please HELP: save workbook with initial selection variables

    Hey folks,
    I'm very frustrated.
I'd like to save a workbook without results and without any historical values in popup selection screen, but I'm not able to do.
    Does anyone knows an answer?
I tried a lot, but haven't got any idea anymore.
    PLEASE HELP.
    I'm using the new SAP-BI 7.0 FrontEnd BEx-Analyzer.
Hope you can help as soon as possible.
    Thanks in advance.
    Nico

    hey ottoman,
I didn't get the last tip.
Edit the variable I'm using and goto default tab?
The possible variables are shown if I refresh and they were shown in a popup, where I can select the parameters. But if I clear the the results and want to run, an error occured, because it's an obligatory variable.
As an alternative I tried to cancel. After it my workbook is cleared, but my formats are blown away
That's why I haven't got any solution to save the workbook with an initial selection popup.
    Hope you have another idea?
    Thanks.

  • BI Workbook Limitation

    Hi All,
I successfully created Workbook iviews in Portal, and workbooks are opening with correct data. I am facing deferent problems,
    1) I am trying to open second workbook without closing first workbook. Second workbook is not opening, new SAP screen is opening
    2) Before opening new workbook, if I close old workbook there is no problem. Is there any limitation in Bex Analyzer like u201Cnot possible to open more than one workbooku201D
    3) Is End user must need Bex analyzer to see the workbook in portal? with out Bex analyzer also can we see workbook ?
    Plz Advise me.
    Thanks,

Edited by: Srinivasu Y on Oct 9, 2009 11:14 PM

    Hi,
It is not necessary that the End User should need BEx Analyzer to see the workbook which is in Portal. But if you have BEx Analyzer then you can open that workbook in BEx Analyzer and can perform the Analysis functions(FIltering,Drill down, etc).

  • Report generation toolkit jumping between workbooks

    Hi,
I am having an issue with my VI which I am wondering if anyone has a fix too or workaround.
Basically during my tests I write multiple sets of data to different sheets in Excel using the Report Generation Toolkit.
At the start of my code I open a workbook (template Excel file), I write data to the file at the end of each test for each iteration and then save and close the file at the end.
I have attached a PNG of one of my sub VIs which writes one set of data to one sheet, this could be called numerous times during my code.
The issue I have is that if I am working with a seperate workbook, each time my sub VI runs it will jump to the test results workbook.
I am aware that I do "Get" the workbook in my code and this is why it happens.
Is there a way to call different sheets in a workbook in a VI without affecting the user who is working on a seperate workbook, write data in the background?
I am unsure if it is possible to write data to different sheets in a workbook without using the "Excel Get Worksheet VI" before entering the data.
I also know I could just save all data in arrays and then at the very end write all data to the workbook but this is not a preference
Any information would be gratefully appreciated
    Thanks.
    Solved!
