Laughing at myself but need help with iMovie

I'm pretty Mac & iMovie savvy but this time, I've shocked even myself. Finshed editing home movies from holidays. Shot on HD (Canon Vixia HFG10) and I realize that can often become a series of large files. Ended up with a one (1) hour movie. Exported as QT and -- nine hours later, I've got a 60GB movie. LOL. Okay, it's not THAT funny. I use iMovie often. Have never ended up with anything this gigantic. What the heck did I do wrong? And what's the best way to remedy this? Feel free to ask anything that I can clarify. Thanks, all. Always appreciate the help on this board.

Try using SHARE/EXPORT MOVIE in Full size (1920x1080).

Need help with Imovie before I throw my computer out the window!

Ok so I got a canon fs200 for christmas and supposidly it works great with imovie. Now when I first hooked it up it kept crashing saying "IMovie quit unexpectedly while using the Sonix SN9C201 Webcam Plugin." I do not understand why its trying to use that plugin but anyways. So I messed with it some more and thought I figured out the problem and that it was plugged into my mini stack instead of directly into the computer. So when I tried that it loaded up great and worked, now today when trying to bring in videos from the camera it has gone back to crashing with same error! This makes NO sense...it is plugged directly into the computer it comes up as its own drive on my desktop yet crashes everytime I try to bring video in. Please help me with what I can do!

Wow..I feel like a idiot..I had my webcam plugged in and totally forgot about it b/c I never use it. Unplugged that and bammo works like a charm. Thanks for makin me realize it hah

Need help with iMovie storage on external Hard drive

Is there any external HD that is fast enough to run iMovie? I just bought an 80gig ext. hard drive trying to solve that nasty memory problem that iMovie HD has... Well iMovie will not run because it's not fast enough, and the video clips play slow and choppy.. My question is does anyone know of a brand type or speed of ext. hd that is fast enough.. HELP!!! I need to finish this video pronto!

Eric, for a few dollars/Euros more (..or whatever your currency is..) you could buy a FireWire enclosure ..that's just a box with a socket or two on the back. It's not a drive, but just a box to put the disc drive inside, and it's complete with FireWire connections.
Then unscrew the Iomega 80GB USB box, remove the 7200rpm 80GB disc drive, and insert it into the FireWire box, and connect up the multi-pin connector and power connector between the FW box and the hard drive. Connecting the drive is pretty simple. Look at "Mounting the drive into the bay", about halfway down this page.
Hey Presto! ..You've now got a working 80GB 7200rpm drive ..plenty fast enough for iMovie.. which can be connected to your iMac via FireWire!
Your disc drive is fast enough ..it's just your USB connection which is too slow; so just change the way that your drive is attached to the Mac, so that it uses FireWire.
Suitable boxes are this kind of thing.
It's simple: I have half a dozen assorted drives I've slotted into new bare-bones 'enclosures', and they all work fine by just plugging the enclosure (box) into a Mac FireWire port.
Quick 'n' simple, and cheap!
NOTE: Open up your Iomega box first, so that you can check what size of drive is inside, and thus what size of FireWire enclosure you need. A small 2.5" drive will certainly fit into a 5" enclosure, but a 5" drive obviously won't fit in a 2.5" enclosure! Though something like a WiebeTech DriveDock ..or the bigger and pricier ComboDock.. are open-ended, so they'll take any physical size of drive.

I need help with iMovie!!

I have a Macbook Air and I use iMovie a lot. For my school projects, and for my YouTube channel. I am currently trying to make a video that is a collection of funny moments from my favorite TV show. I have all the episodes downloaded and ready to go but some of the episodes, when i try to import them into iMovie so i can edit it, it just doesn't work. The audio and lenght of the video is fine but the visuals don't come up. It's just all black and I don't know why it doesn't work.
i know that it's not a problem with the video file because when i play it outside of iMovie, it works just fine but iMovie messes it all up.
I'm really confused and my subscribers are really mad because I promised an hour long collection of funny moments and it isn't up yet so please help me.

Most probably You've done the ones possibly in this list - but any how.
My General - list of doings are
a. NEVER - Move or alter any folder named
• iMovie Event's - or -
• iMovie Project's
in DeskTop/Finder as this breaks connection to iMovie and can be hard to impossibly to mend - Move all back.
b. Trash iMovie pref. file while iMovie is NOT Running - iMovie will make a new error free one on next up-start.
c. Repair permissions - Disk Util tool
d. Repair hard disk - Disk Util tool - but one need to start up Mac from DVD or external Hard Disk
e. Free space on Start-Up Mac OS Hard Disk - My minimum is 25Gb free space - to let iMovie and Mac OS run as intended
f. If external/secondary hard disks is/are connected and used for VIDEO - they MUST BE Mac OS Extended (hfs) formatted. UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange works for most other things BUT NOT for VIDEO Whatever program is used - iMovie, FinalCut or iDVD.
g. Problem also can be due to material feed to iMovie
• Video/Codec used - Camera/Download etc. Please tell
• Audio file format used - from video, Audio-CD and iTunes etc - .aif, .mp3, .wma etc
• Photos used - in what format - .jpg, .bmp etc
BUT - You must know this - so it's more for others to find help in.

I Have read a lot of tutorials or whatever but Im not able to view the editing tools from imovie in the photos app. I have tried the trimmer thing and the yellow outline does appear but the only options available are "play, trim or cancel". I really really want to use the filters and stuff so please help me if you can!

Well, everything that you have bought with her Apple ID prior to getting your own Apple ID is forever hers. Apple will not transfer content from one ID to another. But in the case of the Mac, contact iTunes Customer Service and request that they send your issue to the Account Security Team and ask that the Mac be released form your mother's account so you may register it with your account. Then you can accept the iLife apps into your account for any future updates.

Fixing my friends ipod but need help with crashing freezing etc probs

my friend as us to fix his ipod two weeks ago as it had a sad face and was making grinding noises.
well we fix it but it is now very slow, and he says its freezing. this was after the fourth or fifth format restore as a normal itunes restore doesent work.
so afteer formating it on abuntu cus we descovered 2 partitions
it now works ... then we sync it with itunes 7.5 it crashed tried 8.0 it crashed even tried 9.25 and 10.1.
it crashed and locked the computer.
the drive is griding like mad , its slow and it wont always show up.
we think it a classic 5 g , it has a 30 gig hard drive, (post s/n later as im writing this in bed)
we got it up and running and then itunes 7.5 crashed. now it gone back to a small circle with a line which is black.
it looks like the wrong firmware keeps booting as it is suposed to be a red circle with line which is twice the size.
i know it had firmware 3.1 on it before and it eventually finds it. and works but
can someone tell me
1 where do i find the correct version of the firm ware as i think the current 1 is scrambled.
as for the hard drive it is getting hot and griding do u think i need replace it.
think s/n or model number is m????k something.
were runing out of ideas

*Check your iPod with Diagnostics Mode*
It's possible that the iPod's hard drive is failing. Take the iPod and place your right thumb on the centre SELECT button and your left on the top MENU button. Press down both thumbs for about 6 seconds until your iPod reboots. Immediately move your left thumb around to the rewind button |<< on the left and hold this down together with SELECT for a further 6 seconds. The iPod should now switch into Diagnostic Boot mode. Press MENU for *Manual Test*, then select *IO > HardDrive > HDSMARTData* to reveal your stats. For comparison here are mine for my 2 year old 6th Generation Classic:

Temp: Max 50c
Take a note of your results. When finished press *SELECT & MENU* for 6 seconds to reset the iPod again.
With modern disc drives sectors are no longer marked bad by a disc scan, if the SMART firmware detects a sector it has trouble accessing it will attempt to invisibly reallocate it to a spare area of the disc.
Note that I've only 12 remapped sectors and none pending. To help explain what the numbers mean here is an extract from the Wikipedia S.M.A.R.T. article:
*Reallocated Sectors Count*
Count of reallocated sectors. When the hard drive finds a read/write/verification error, it marks this sector as "reallocated" and transfers data to a special reserved area (spare area). This process is also known as remapping, and "reallocated" sectors are called remaps. This is why, on modern hard disks, "bad blocks" cannot be found while testing the surface – all bad blocks are hidden in reallocated sectors. However, as the number of reallocated sectors increases, the read/write speed tends to decrease. The raw value normally represents a count of the number of bad sectors that have been found and remapped. Thus, the higher the attribute value, the more sectors the drive has had to reallocate.
*Pending sector count*
Number of "unstable" sectors (waiting to be remapped, because of read errors). If an unstable sector is subsequently written or read successfully, this value is decreased and the sector is not remapped. Read errors on a sector will not remap the sector (since it might be readable later); instead, the drive firmware remembers that the sector needs to be remapped, and remaps it the next time it's written.
Large numbers of Reallocs or Pending Sectors would suggest the drive is failing and that you may need to repair or replace the iPod. Check the stats after another attempt to update the iPod. If the numbers increase that again points to hard drive failure. While it won't be good news at least you'll know it isn't some random software problem and you can decide what to do next, e.g. replace the hard drive or the entire unit.

Not a developer but need help with runtime error, please

Hi, I have downloaded a game called Fishdom, but it will not open. I get a " The application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way" error message. The dialog box is labeled "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library".
I checked my programs and I have C++ '05, '08, and 2010. I am using XP SP3. I don't get this error at any other time.
I have asked Playrix (game distributor) about it and they seem relatively clueless about how to fix it. So, is there anything I can do to fix this error, or bypass the error so that the game will load? I've tried deleting and reinstalling the libraries and
that did not help.
Anything you can suggest will be very helpful, because I do want the game and do not want to argue with them about refunding my money for it.

Need help with iMovie file recovery.

I accidentally repartitioned my storage drive but did not format it. This wiped out an old iMovie project.
I used Data Rescue to recover the file - 800mb. It was recovered as xxxxx.iMovieProj but iMovie '11 will not open it. I changed the extension to .rcproject but that didn't work either.
Anyone have any ideas how to restore this movie?

That is not a feature of iPhoto - suggest to Apple - iPhoto Menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback.

If the iPhone was hacked and unlocked via unofficial means, it has become locked again. Insert original SIM in the phone to activate with iTunes.

The ID Program folder will be relevant to your OS...
I took a shot and right clicked on my Scripts Samples, choose reveal in Explorer and opened up the ID Program folder.
As shown, there is a Fonts folder.
Drag/Copy/Paste fonts to this folder.

Freezing, or crashing?
ID on the Mac can produce reports that may (or may not) prove helpful in diagnosing the problem. I suspect this is something not directly related to InDesign, and maybe not to any of the Adobe apps directly since you seem to be having a problem in more than one. That often inidcates a problem at the system level.
Nevertheless, it won't hurt to try to gather the reports. You'll find driections for how to generate them, and to post them on Pastebin.com (then put a link to them here) so we can see what's going on at Adobe Forums: InDesign CS5.5 Not Responding
