Launch of a new IPOD?

The last 2 ipods I have bought a new model has come out just a few weeks after. I have given my old one to my son and I am about to buy the 60gig in Black.
However before I do does anyone know if a replacement model is imminent?
It appears that new model appear to be launch in the spring?
Cheers
Ian

    Hi,
I have recently updated my iTunes to the latest version in order to sync music onto my new ipod shuffle. However after a successful installation the application does not launch or open? There are no error messages. The application is just unresponsive.
I have already checked the compatibility with Safari, my operating system and checked my firewall is not blocking it - all is fine.
Does anyone have any other resolutions?
    Many thanks

    Hi Carolyn,
Thank you for your time and response. The trouble is I am unable to launch iTunes? I have restarted my macbook air a number of times to try and initiate the application but the issue persists and the application remains unresponsive. Will not launch?
    Thanks

  • I added a new iPod and now iTunes won't recognize my old iPod

My old iPod's battery is just about dead. It is about three years old; I will send it to Apple for a new battery.
In the meantime, I bought a new 5th generation iPod, 60 GB. It's great! Eventually the old iPod will be my work iPid and the new one wil be the home and recreation iPod.
Here's the problem. I researched using two iPods from the same copy of iTunes. In response to my questions in this forum, someone referred me to the article at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300432, "How to use multiple iPods with one computer", which I read, and which supported the idea that you can work with two iPods from one copy of iTunes.
My goal, then, was to follow Method Two as described in the article, and use two iPods from my one computer, without setting up separate user accounts for each one.
So -- I plopped in the CD that came with the new iPod, installed the latest iTunes. It had me register the new iPod by serial number.
In my copy of iTunes, my old iPod was called "Mae Sot's iPod". I set up the new iPod as "Mae Sot's New iPod".
I thought that from now on, when I plugged in my old iPod, iTunes would be able to recognize it, and when I plugged in the new one, iTunes would recognize it.
    Wrong.
My copy of iTunes does great now in working with the new Ipod. But it totally rejects the old one.
When I plus in the old iPod to synch/recharge, I first get the Windows message in the lower right part of the screen with the headline, "USB device is not recognized", telling me that "One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it..."
The first time this happened, that message eventually went away, iTunes launched, and I got an error message saying there was no folder for the device.
Now when I plug in the old iPod, I just get the "USB device is not recognized..." message, and iTunes does not launch.
Any idea what is the problem?
My goal is to get iTunes to add my old iPod as a recognized device, so that I can clean the music off it and send it to Apple for a new battery.

  • I want to sync a second ipod touch to itunes, however my daughter has some how registered the new ipod  under my sons old one, she has deleted asll content and i have now reset it, how do i stop it being recognised as the old one

my daughters new ipod touch is being recognised as my sons old one on itunes, this has caused the ipod to lock and she has lost all content. i now want to get itunes to recognise her new ipod , but it is still recognising it as the old one, how can i sort this out

Does both your Windows and Macbook iTunes have the same library of songs?
if it  does then, much easier to proceed, else try to load the Macbook with the same library as Windows.
Note that only one of the Macbook USB port is good for iPod Classic, the other is too slow and may cause timeout, and I would suggest disconnect all other USB devices, while you Restore or Sync the iPod Classic.
Connect the iPod to the Mac, (if iTunes launch, please close it back.)
Use Disk Utility -> select the iPod Device->First Aid->Repair (use option FAT32)
After the Repair complete, eject the iPod.
    Connect back to the Mac
When iTunes launch, Restore the iPod when Prompted, (use FAT32)
    Sync your library.
    Good Luck!

  • New iPod Touch won't sync with iTunes as iTunes hangs

    Hello,
I got a new iPod Touch yesterday after my old iPod Video died. Brought it home, connected it and all seemed fine until iTunes (that had worked flawlessly for years) just stopped (app stops responding).
I can kill the app and restart and it just starts over again, but never gets all the way thru sync.
I looked for a newer version but says I've got the latest.
Any suggestions? Don't suppose I can sync via WiFi?
    thanks,
    Chris

Hey Chris, I got this off iPhonenano.net
Occasionally your iPhone or iPod touch starts syncing when you connected it to your Mac only to drop out of the sync process. Even worse, once the cycle stops, it continues every time you plug your handheld in. This fix is fairly easy, but you won't find it in iTunes. You'll know know if you are suffering from this little headache because your iPhone or iPod touch will begin the sync process, but stops unexpectedly. iTunes will display a dialog warning you that your handheld stopped communicating and the sync process was cancelled. Here's how to break the cycle so and sync as normal again:
Connect your iPhone or iPod touch to your Mac/Pc
After the sync process fails, launch iSync. You can find it in your Applications folder.
    Select iSync > Preferences.
Click the Reset Sync History button.
iSync will display a dialog explaining what happens when you reset the sync history. Go ahead and click the second Reset Sync History button.
    Quit iSync.
Now you should be able to sync your iPhone or iPod touch again without any hassles. Since your sync history has been reset, your first post-rest sync may take longer than you expect. Depending on how much information is stored on your handheld, that could be a few extra seconds or several minutes.
    Hope this helps,
    Arnie

  • New iPod Touch 4th gen. cannot connect to home wi-fi network

When I launch wi-fi on my new iPod Touch 4th gen. my home network's name is displayed, but after entering my password the iPod is unable to connect - the wheel to the left of the network name just keeps spinning.   The network still functions properly for all my other devices (MacBook, 2nd gen. iPod Touch, wireless printer and my wife's PC) and the new iPod Touch did connect to the network in the Apple Store when I visited yesterday.   I know the password I enetered for my home network is correct because I've checked it in my keychain, and also the iPod did not inform me that it was the wrong password for that network - as it does if I enter another password.
I have followed the advice given to others - unplugging the Time Capsule and leaving it for 5 minutes, checking that all my software and firmware is up to date, 'forgetting' the network on my new iPod then searching for it again, and have completely restored the iPod - but it still cannot connect to my network.   If my network is functioning properly, and my new iPod was capable of joining the Apple Store's network yesterday, and I am sure that I am entering the correct password, it seems to me that my problem must be due to some network setting that is refusing to allow a new device to connect.   I can't find where that setting might be - can anyone advise?

depending on what router but hopefully all routers came to this default address....
    192.168.1.1/Wireless_MAC.asp
    from
    >Setup of the Basic Setup you goto
    >Wireless
    >WirelessMacFilter
also had an idea when i wanna make sure im typing the right one, i would do is tap each letter/# by 1, as in,
    (e.q.)
here's my ipod 4 and my ipod 2, the pswd is 123456
    ipod 4, i press 1
    ipod 2, i press 1
    ipod 4, i press 2
    ipod 2, i press 2
and so on till i reach both of them to 6 (1by1) to make sure i get it in there right. saw this on another wall it might depends on what channel your using, but i dont rly think that matters bc i have mine on auto and nvr had a problem.
i would do this even thou it may sound crazy to others....if i were you this is what i would do
    on your ipod 2Gen
    >Safari
    >address to 192.168.1.1/WL_WPATable.asp
    -(wireless security settings for passcode)
    >tap the box for the password, whatever ur security is i would copy
    -IF WEP
-copy phrase key and Key 1
    -IF WPA
    -copy phrase key
    >open Notepad
    >under iCloud account Notepad
    >Paste the Key
    >either on your pc/mac or your 2nd Gen, go back to
    >192.168.1.1/WL_WPATable.asp
    >change your Security Mode to Disable
    >goto your 4 Gen iPod Touch
    >goto settings and connect to it, if pswd is still in it then tap forget this network and reconnect to it
-once connected and got IP adresses
    >goto Notpad under iCloud
-you should have obtained your recent icloud msgs included the key you pasted
    -once obtained
    >gobk to pc/mac or ipod 2nd gen and re enabled the security and re-paste the key in
-once router adjusted try to connect to it
    >1st do your 2nd gen and forget this network reconnect to it and repaste the key
    >2nd goto ur 4rth gen from your notes, highlight the key in ur notpad and tap copy and forget this network reconnect to it and paste the key.
this should work bc i did it myself when i couldnt get connected bc thats almost the same steps i did.
somtimes i put my name up on here. remeber these names we put as our nickname doesnt mean its our real name or anything like that,

  • Connecting New Ipod Touch to PC

I keep trying to connect my new ipod touch to my PC and it keep getting a dialog box that tells me Apple Ipod on top and then in the box it says Camera Connected. It then gives me an option to launch the program using Microsoft scanner and camera wizard or Microsoft Word. The device is charging but in "My Computer" it is listed under Scanners and Cameras as Apple Ipod #2 with a camera icon. Does anybody know how to resolve this. It is not recognizing the ipod in itunes

  • Will there be a new iPod this fall?

I really need a new iPod this fall, I can't wait until next year(if that's when it will be refreshed). Please tell me a new one will come out this fall.

Sorry for disappointing but a new ipod will not be out this fall as ipod 5g has already been launched few months back so you gotta wait for sometime

  • New IPOD and how to work it

I just recieved a brand new IPOD my wife bought me while on a trip to China. I cant seem to find a manual or any instructions for it. It says on the front MP4/WMA/REC/AMV I have figured out how to make the AM/FM radio work but I cant seem to get it to sync with I Tunes. This is my first IPOD and I just dont get it. This thing does not have a click wheel like I see on the website. It does not have any cable to commect either, it connects by a plug just like the one on my motorola cell phone which then connects to an adaptor that has a USB plug which can also be plugged into a wall outlet. Box says it is a IPOD nano 8GB. If anyone can help thanks.

was just wondering if you figured this out. I also received an ipod recently from a family member who went to China. My mother got one also and had someone else that she knows download some songs for her and it works fine. I'm sure they are both knockoffs (sound similar to the description you gave). I was aware that they would be but after my Mother got one and it worked fine for her I figured it was worth the $40 buck since I can't really afford a real one. Were you able to get yours to work? Mine isn't recognized by my computer or itunes. I've read all kinds of posts saying when you launch itunes and connect ipod it should show up in sourcelist. I can't even find source list in Itunes.
Do these fakes not even work at all????

  • New IPOD tocuh with built in Nike+IPOD running kit, ***???

I see that Apple has now launched a new IPOD Touch. What surprises me is that the receiver that comes with the Nike running kit is built into the Touch. I could never imagine running/working out with my Touch. I am really surprised that they didn't do this with the Nano.

What surprises me is that this functionality was included in the new iTouch at all. Are there really enough people using Nike+ to justify building the receiver into the device? I can see it as an option, but not included as standard equipment.
Unless, of course, that chip can be used for other things in the future... Hmmm...

  • Hi I had my new Ipod classic stolen a few days ago and decided to reconnect my old ipod to the same computer but it wont open sync any ideas welcomed

    Help !
I bought a new ipod and it was stolen so I tried to reconnect my old ipod classic 30 gb back to the computer but it wont sync just the red flashing no entry sign Ive tried all the suggestions under help but no go
    Thanks

    Hi Becki ..
You need to "authorize" the Mac.
Launch iTunes on the Mac then from the iTunes menu bar top of your screen click Store > Authorize This Computer.
Now, using the same Apple ID as you used to purchased iTunes media originally, you should be able to sync all your content.

  • My 'brand new' iPod 5G ver1.2 keeps crashing and locking up... HELP?

    Hi Folks
    Any ideas?
My brand new iPod 5G 80GB keeps crashing! Sometimes the only way to recover is to let the battery run flat then it will reset as the Menu/Select will not work?
Does anyone else have this problem?
F.Y.I. Especially crashes when launching 'Vortex' as it enters the main game menu?
    Regards
    Jay

    Hi...
To 'fire' a software reset, just enable/disable
hold-function sometimes and click & hold the menu-
and ok-button the same time! You may do this several
times!!! On success, your iPod will startup with the
apple logo and needs some time to re-run the menu!
My iPod has been crashed two times in a week now and
    this reset works for me!
    Regards,...
    Hi Kaju
Thanks for your suggestion, Today this method of reset would not work.. All key presses where not recognised.. now I sit here as I type this at Edinburgh airport with a dead battery on my iPod as this was the only way to reset it, i.e. let it run out of battery power. f.y.i. I get the Apple logo when I try and use it then the battery low warning then it swtiches off.. So I'm guessing it's now reset, won't find out till I get home and near a charger (fingers crossed :-~)
Not a good situation I had a 3G 20GB iPod up until last week when I purchased this one. The older 3G 'NEVER' crashed in all the years I had it.. I hope Apple release a bug fix soon as reading here I see others have lots of 'crashing' problems with other 5G iPods..
Thanks for your suggestion once agian.
    Regards
    Jay

  • TS1363 My new IPod is not being picked up by my computer.  What should I do?

My new IPOD is not being picked up by my computer.  What should I do?

@vic_suav, thanks for the additional information. Could you please try to see if this does the trick?
Quit iTunes on your PC, switch your iPhone on and make sure it's not locked, before connecting it to your computer. Then wait a minute or two until the "Download Photos" dialogue box pops up. When that happens, launch iTunes and wait a minute or two until iPhone shows up as a connected device.
If the above doesn't work, follow the steps in 'How to restart the Apple Mobile Device Service (AMDS) on Windows' to restart the Apple Mobile Device Service, here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1567
Otherwise, please try a different USB port on your PC. Then in your Windows 7, click Start and choose Control Panel. Click "Uninstall a program". Then verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is visible in the list of currently installed programs. If Apple Mobile Device Support is not listed, remove iTunes, QuickTime, Apple Software Update, Apple Application Support, and then reinstall iTunes. For removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Windows 7, follow these steps: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
if all of the above fail, you can try some of the troubleshooting steps outlined in 'iOS Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows' article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
Let me know how it goes. Good luck!
